How much does your plugin influence load time itself?

Thank you for your interest in our plugin.
It depends. If your preloader does not contain an image (background image of the loading screen or use a custom image as a loader), and you set up the preloader very simply (only using pure CSS animations), it will hardly affect the loading time.
But if your preloader contains images, it will take extra time to load the images. The time required will be determined by the file size of the images, your server response speed and the current internet speed.

I cannot access the gutenberg editor, when loftloader pro plugin is active. I receive the following error message:

I’m on wordpress 5.3 and I use the JupiterX theme. If I disable Loftloader Pro, I can access the Gutenberg Editor normally.

When “Any Page Extension” is enabled, an input box for inserting the preloader shortcode will be added in the editor (Classic / Gutenberg). So your problem may be solved by disabling this feature.
However, since we have not received any reports of the same / similar issues from other users, and we were unable to reproduce the same issue on our test site, therefore, we still cannot determine the exact cause of the problem you encountered.
To find the cause of a problem, we need to see it first and then troubleshoot various factors in the environment where the problem occurs.
Therefore, if you still need to use “Any Page Extension” and the problem persists, please provide the information we mentioned in the previous answer so we can check the problem to find the exact cause.

As far as I know, Loftloader was working fine until I uploaded a new image for my LoftLoader background, and now it loads on every page load again, instead of once per session.
However, not needing to mess around with things, I hadn’t checked the operation since the new version was released a few days ago.
Is this something to do with the new version?
Also, I was having problems with the WP Rocket Lazyload system, so they came onto the website and fixed that too.
If you needed to examine, details are the same, and I’ve had to disable it pending your views.

Ahhh, right – Clearfy is a great plugin, and one of their features is that it can disable plugins, CSS and javascript on a page-by-page basis.
I’m guessing that’ll be where the problem is then, and I’ll update as soon as I find the setting that caused it.

Right then, if you get any pre-sales questions on whether LoftLoader is compatible with Clearfy, yes it is – provided that you turn off all of the ‘Defence’ settings in there, author logins, login errors, hiding versions etc, though the ‘Hide Login’ section within Clearfy is fine to use with LoftLoader..
I reckon that it was conflicting with Wordfence on some items, and turning the majority of them off solves the problem.

Just a heads up on an issue with your plugin. I had issues with WP Rocket broken caching and optimizing of images. I reached out to their developers who looked into the issue and determined the cause as your plugin. In particular, they concluded that the issue related to, and I quote … “I looked into that plugin’s code and found that by disabling this action (/inc/frontend/class-manager.php), the issue was resolved:
add_action( ‘wp_loaded’, array( $this, ‘start_cache’ ) );
This is probably related to the ob_start() function in the start_cache method.
You should convey this info to the plugin’s developer and ask for their support.

1. We saw that you have updated LoftLoader Pro to the latest version (v2.1). So the custom code we added to your website has been overwritten. However, we have included the same code in this update to make the “once per session” feature work on cached pages. Therefore, this issue should not be related to plugin updates.
2. We checked on our test site, both LoftLoader Pro and WP Rocket are the latest version (LoftLoader Pro v2.1 + WP Rocket v3.4.1.2), but we are unable to reproduce the same problem that occurred on your site. The preloader still only appears once on the cached pages.
3. To make the “once per session” feature work on cached pages, there is a snippet of JavaScript running at the very beginning during the page loading process to detect if the visit is the first time in the session. However, this JavaScript code is now blocked until the page is fully loaded. This result may be due to some settings of the theme or some other plugins. However, we still can’t find the specific cause of the problem.
4. Could you please provide more information? Before you found this problem, did you install any new plugins? Or, have you changed any settings for the theme/plugin? Or, have you updated the theme and any plugins?
5. Since we are unable to reproduce this issue on our test site, could you allow us to look into this issue on your site, please? You can create a staging site so that we can check and debug on the staging site without affecting the live site. Please email your login credentials to general@loftocean.com .

Hi,
There was one plugin I was messing around with called ‘Assets Clean Up’, which got deleted straight away as soon as I saw the speed actually went up. It also messed up my CSS which had to be rewritten from scratch, so it might have been that one?
I noticed there’s a ‘loftloaderChache’ tag in the exclusions for WP Rocket too, but the missing javascript looks like being the cause.
Give me 5 mins, I’ll just revert WP Rocket back to basic settings, and then throw all the minifications back in and see if that has an effect.
No affect I’m afraid. It’s still loading every time.
Website login is the same as previously used.
Right, I’m off to bed now, it’s 7 in the morning over here!

So far, from the clues we have, the problem seems to be related to the plugin you mentioned: “Assets Clean Up”. We installed it on our test site and then the same problem occurred. Even if the plugin is disabled, the problem still exists.
We have disabled LoftLoader Pro on your site, because JavaScript is not working properly now, and I am afraid it will cause other problems.
It seems that we still need more time to find a way to remove the impact of this plugin.

Anyway, how would a website snapshot contend with this?
I thought of maybe resurrecting the database and files from say – Wednesday – which is about the same time that loftloader pro got updated?

Right I tried uploading a snapshot from Wednesday, and even though my CSS returned to normal, no such luck I’m afraid with LoftLoader.
Looks like that bloody Assets Cleanup debacle has got a lot to answer for!

Right then, I just tried the website and LoftLoader was loading perfectly, once per session on the homepage only, but I noticed that my ‘trending topics’ had disappeared.
Trending topics was something I added earlier in the week, so do you reckon it’s a conflict with the WordPress Popular Posts plugin rather than Assets Cleanup?
Well, I’m not sure what you guys did, but if I’d woken up on Christmas Morning, I’d have thought Santa had been!
No trending topics, but I suppose that was Santa’s mince pie.
No sticky menu, but I guess that was Rudolph’s carrot.
What was left, is astonishing page-load times on GTMetrix, Pingdom and WebPageTest, all with marks in the green, and everything working as it should be such as gallery sliders, testimonial sliders et al, not forgetting a working LoftLoader plugin.
Have no clue what you did, or maybe it was a few widgets being disabled with the Clearfy plugin, but that’s boring – I see it as an early Christmas present!

Another thing: I have animated some page items form Elementor Pro options. Some entrance animations with few time delay. What I realized is that when the loader courtain shows the page, some animations has already happened.

If you want the curtains to close more slowly, you can change the “transition-duration” value to a larger one, for example: “transition-duration: 1s;” (the default value is 0.4s).

1) Yes, you can disable all other elements of the loading screen except the progress bar. Then set the position of the progress bar to “Top”.
2) Yes, you can set the preloader to detect “All Elements”. And if you are using any cache/performance optimization plugin, you just need to exclude JS and CSS files of LoftLoader. Please check the FAQs page and see the detailed information of “My page content appears before the preloader.”

According to the current working logic of LoftLoader Pro, the loading bar is only displayed when the data of the new page is returned to the browser by the server. Therefore, when you click a button or link, the load bar is temporarily not displayed because you are still waiting for the server to send new page data.
After discussions with the team members, we came up with a possible solution to achieve the effect you need. Therefore, could you please provide us with the following information so that we can modify some code of our plugin:
1. Please send us your website URL.
2. Please provide your FTP login credentials so that we can modify LoftLoader Pro’s code via FTP.
3. Please create a temporary admin account and let us log into your website. Alternatively, You can create a staging site so that we can work on the staging site without affecting your live site. And please also grant permission to modify our plugin’s code using this account, just in case the FTP login credentials don’t work (blocked by firewall or something else).

I’m coming back to you regarding the initial page loading of the pre-loader.
As a reminder, I’ve got Loftloader set to run on the Homepage only, and Once only.
Last night, I happened to notice that in my WP Rocket settings, that ‘Never cache this page’ was checked for the homepage, no doubt due to the trailing forward slash added into the WP Rocket settings by you guys on a previous support thread.
So I UN-checked this option, and the website started to run blisteringly fast, usually sub-2secs, but the problem now was that the pre-loader appeared every time that the homepage was loaded.
Checking the option again removed the pre-loader on every load, but the website homepage slowed to around 4-5 secs.
This issue then remains unsolved, as where the rest of the website indeed runs blisteringly fast, the homepage is running uncached and taking 2-3 times the load time of the other pages.
Any chance of a permanent fix for this issue?

Thank you for sending us the problem report.
In fact, due to the current code logic of the LoftLoader and how a caching plugin works, we have to disable the cache on the page that enables “Once Per Session” feature so that the preloader does not display to the visitor every time. This is limited by current technology.
When you use a caching plugin, it creates a static version of your content and delivers it to your visitors, which means that when the same visitors come to the same page again, they will see the cached version, which should be much faster.
However, sometimes there are some content on the page that needs to be dynamically loaded, such as displaying different content for visitors from different regions, or, as you are now experiencing: just showing the preloader when the visitor first comes to the homepage. If the website still displays the cached content, then the visitor will always see the cached homepage with the same content (including the preloader because the preloader is also part of the cached page content). Therefore, caching plugins usually provide the feature to disable caching on certain pages, for resolving problems under this kind of situations.
After we received your comment, we have been discussing on this problem for a long time in the team. Finally, we came up with several possible solutions. Maybe we can make some code changes based on your website’s configurations and environment, to improve the current situation. We cannot guarantee that this problem will be solved perfectly, but it is still worth trying.
Could you please provide your website and FTP login credentials again, so that we can make some code changes to our plugin?

I’ve just changed my image to a really really bright one, and it’s quite hard to make out what my logo and welcome message says.
Is there a way to tone the image down a couple or three notches so that everything becomes legible again, WITHOUT using the opacity setting which I’ve already tried and noticed that the content below is visible?
Or do I need to tone it down a little by using Gimp?

Although the image brightness can be changed via code (using CSS filters), this technique is often used for animation and interaction. For example, to slightly darken an image when hovering cursor over it.
CSS filters will take up processing power and impact performance. There are many different CSS filters (brightness/blur/saturate/...), some of which only take up very little processing power, but we still recommend using them only when necessary.
Therefore, when the image is just a background image of the loading screen, we recommend editing the image using a photo editor such as Gimp or Photoshop.

Stunning piece of kit – started with the ‘lite’ version and then upgraded within half an hour to the Pro version!
Anyway, just a slight problem that you’ve probably been asked before:
I’m using WPRocket for caching, and I have Loftloader set to only run once on the homepage.
On trying it out on Firefox though, I found that it was appearing all the time.
So I’ve cleared all the caches, reset all the preloads, and regenerated critical CSS – most of which is happening as I write this.
What do I exclude in WPRocket if it still loads multiple times in Firefox ,IE etc?
Just a heads up on this – Loftloader is still loading every time the homepage is loaded.

Another quick question – i’m using the 404-301 redirection plugin to sort out any 404 errors, and since loftloader has been active, I’m getting loads of mywebsite.com/undefined instances that are being redirected to the homepage.
Does that mean that LoftLoader has a retrograde effect on SEO?

1. LoftLoader does not include any functionality that will redirect URLs.
2. We just checked your site and checked the 404-301 redirect plugin, but we don’t see any clues that the records for the “undefined” instances are caused by LoftLoader.
3. You can send us the error log of your website, let us see if we can find any clues. And we also recommend contacting the author of the 404-301 redirect plugin to find out the possible causes of the problem.

Yes, well I cleared all the ‘undefined’ listings just now, but they’ll no doubt be back again.
Mind you, seeing as all the ‘undefined’ listings get redirected to the homepage, it wouldn’t have made much difference I’d have thought?

We have resolved the “Once Per Session” issue on your website. Please check the email to see the details. 
Pretty comprehensive diagnosis of events there, and I’ll run through all of them, especially the ‘Sassy’ one.
I’ve been looking at going back to the ‘Redirection’ plugin to sort out my 404s, as it only started happening since enabling Loft Loader that the ‘undefined’ instances started appearing, but as both you and I have already mentioned – if the undefined gets redirected to the homepage anyway, it shouldn’t really matter.
In association with this, I’ve also reset the Loftloader Pro>> More>> Minimum Load Time down from 2 secs to 0.0 secs, so the website should kick in now as soon as it’s ready.
And all it needed was a forward slash in WP Rocket, yes?
