Hi, I’m interested by your plugin, this is a presale question. I would like to display a 3×3 grid. In each “box”, which would be a square, there would be a picture, and below the title and the date. I’m not sure to understand what you mean by “each box”? Do you want to have several grids of 3×3 in several “boxes” (columns)?
About your screenshot, you can reproduce a similar appearance thanks to the skin builder functionality. And you can create grids up to 12 columns. So, you will be able to create a grid of 3×3.

Hi, I have a masonry portfolio setup on the home page. It takes a long time to load. Once loaded, when i click on the images to expand in lightbox it is quick.
it appears the grid is loading all images. Is there any setting that just thumb/masonry images are loaded first and when clicked there is a load time for lightbox.
Nice plugin but very slow to load because it seems to load everything before it loads anything.

The Grid will only load images displayed in your grid items. It will not load images used in the lightbox. However, if you didn’t set an image size in your grid settings, then the images used in your grid items will be the same as the ones used in your lightbox. That’s the reason your lightbox open wihtout loading and that it takes times to load all your images in your grid. You are certainly using the original image size in your grid items. Depending of your grid settings, a medium image size will be enough and will drastically decrease your loading time.
The Grid was highly optimized and it will not slow down your website. If your page takes times to load (on the client side), it will only depend of the content length of your page and your images weight. It’s not related to a plugin or Wordpress. However, you can control the image size with The Grid. Moreover, you can add your own image sizes in the global settings of The Grid.

You can add a grid in any page thanks to The Grid shortcode. So, you will be able to add a grid on your front page or any page. And The Grid works with custom post type, so you will be able to display your portfolio items in a grid.

Hi,
I work on my site https://www.gsm.be/ and added a grid. I chose the Skin SANAA and edited this myself. There are 2 problems that I ran into:
1. I can’t delete the comment item from within the skin builder. I selected the element (tg-element-8) and clicked on the garbage icon but nothing happens. Nothing is deleted. Very strange.
2. I have been looking multiple times through all items in the skin builder to change the hover color when you move your mouse over the image. An orange like color with a certain transparency is shown but I can find where to change this color. Can you point me out where I can find this?
3. The documentation about the Skin Builder sections is not very clear to me about all main topics. Like what exactly are Media Holder Styles, Overlay Styles, Media Content Holder Styles, etc for. Can you explain this better?

Is there a mechanism for implementing custom markup for the boxes? For example, we may want the boxes to contain various things like custom fields, colors, or want them to have certain CSS classes based on field values, etc. In other words, boxes that have more than the standard components like featured image, excerpt, etc.

With The Grid, you will be able to create the same grid layout. However, The Grid doesn’t have functionality to load a post in a popup like in your example. You shoud look for an Ajax Popup plugin instead.

Currently, you can add filter buttons and sorte on the top or bottom of a grid. With some custom css it’s eventually possible to have the top area of The Grid displayed on the side in order to create a kind of sidebar.

Pre-Purchase Question. Hello, is it possible to create a grid with tiles that feature both blog posts (linked) and individual images or text that are not linked/clickable but just used for display? The Grid works with any post type and you can mix them in a same grid. It means that you can display at the same time in a grid, your blog posts and images from your Wordpress media library. And you can assign per post type and for each post (image included) a different skin. So, you can easily achieve what you want.

Hello simple pre sale question : I looked thought your documentation and didn’t find the answer. Is it possible to link an item in a skin to a metadata key and then edit this custom metadata key in a post ? The goal here is to have a custom javascript action per post triggered when someone click on a specific button on the front end of your grid. Would that be achievable ? If yes, how ? Don’t see it in the doc. I see you can edit General, colors, images, gallery, audio, video, quote and links per post but not metadata. I know it could work on essential grid but your grid plug in looks way more amazing.. Let me know. Thank You.

The Grid works with metadata (custom field). You can add custom values in a skin thanks to metadata key: http://theme-one.com/docs/the-grid/#!/element_metadata.
However, you can’t add a custom javascript inside a skin for 2 main reasons: It’s not w3c valid and it’s not secure. But, you can add custom jQuery code in each grid settings and easily target a post in a grid thanks to its ID.

Ok I see. Yes I all ready saw your metadata doc part, but it doesn’t talk about metadata in “Action” section. Only show use in “Content” section. That’s why i’m asking that. For exemple I want a grid post with 2 redirections urls. 1 is the post url and that’s ok as far as I’ve seen. 2 is another url : a custom url defined per post, not globally. Is it possible ?

Yes, you can use custom link from a metadata key name (under action tab). So, you can set 2 different links per post for example.
With The Grid, you can also easily set an alternative link to the single post url.

Hmm I don’t understand. So if I create a meta data which is named “url” and link as “action” in an icon in the skin like you said. Where would I put the custom url for a post ? In theme function ? Can’t I add my custom url in the post settings so the metakey is replaced by this custom url ?

It will necessary work because it’s a native feature of Wordpress. And The Grid works with this native feature of Wordpress. By setting a custom field in a single post page which contains your custom url, you will be able to use it as custom link in a skin.

Unfortunately, there isn’t any slider range to filter. The Grid only works with taxonomy terms to filter a grid. So, you can only add filter buttons (inline or a dropdown list).
