Hello there! Great plugin I must say.
I’ve choosen it because it works with foobox and I’m facing some issues.
When I share a picture on facebook and I click on the link that was shared I’m redirected to the page but the image that was originally shared is not the one that is being displayed.
I think it has to do with the way justified image grid sort the items, and if this is the case, every time I add/delete images to a library it will also break.
Example with regular sorting: http://www.marciolena.com.br/fotografia/fotos/demo/ Example with random sorting: http://www.marciolena.com.br/fotografia/fotos/demo1
I’ve worked this issue with Adam in Foobox and apparently this is related to JIG, can you please help?
I bought JIG and FooBox as a sharing solution for a problem I have in my current theme, but if the sharing doesn’t work properly I’m dead on the water again.
What does FooBox use to uniquely identify the images? If it’s their order of appearance in the page there is not much you can do.
I’m not techy but I think that is the problem, when you look @ the URL this is what is being shared: http://www.marciolena.com.br/fotografia/fotos/demo/#ml-2/1/img_0007.jpg
If you replace the number just before the file name you will load that image.
They say this is something related to JIG (I don’t think so). By any change do you have any other lightbox plugin I can use to show them this is not JIG?
The galleries need to be sorted randomically, and the sharing must work.
Their plugin was pretty expensive and if they can’t make it work I would like a refund, but in order to do that I need to prove the problem is on their side.
THanks for getting back to me and keep up the great work
Well if you look at the random gallery, open an image the site url gets changed. If you click there and hit enter the lightbox will load another image. It’s true that my gallery is responsive for randomizing the images, but this is what you want. It’d be foobox’s responsibility to find the image even if it’s position is changed. Why is it including the name of the image? It seems pointless if it’s jsut using the number to select nth image it finds. Since the image filename is added by them, it could do a test if the nth image’s filename is really what got shared, and if it isn’t it could look for that image, because its position has changed. No other plugin that I know of can do what you want by the way. All of these work by nth image (prettyphoto for example). But I don’t think you can really blame them and ask for a refund because this is not a bug, this is simply not a feature.
Thanks Firsh, actually I talked to them and they will refund it. one of Foobox goals is to allow facebook sharing and this is clearly not working for random and probably wont work if I delete one of the images (or reverse sort by date). If I share image #3 and then delete #2 the share will still point to position 3 and will be showing img #4.
I’ll probably look for a gallery + lightbox solution now. If there are no gallery+lightbox solution that can tackle this it is probably an opportunity to make some money.
I’m customizing prettyphoto a lot and more I use it the more bugs I find, maybe I should create a lightbox that synergises the buyers’ needs and my plugin
Hi There, great plugin! I would need to use your plugin with the following Theme Iconik: http://themeforest.net/item/iconik-full-experience-wordpress-theme/3475987
As you are mentioning that “The plugin is not compatible with purely AJAX-based sites and animated gifs as thumbnails.”
Thanks for clarification! TF
I should create an ‘It’ll work/It’ll not work’ test version that doesn’t show the grid but tells you if you’ll be able to work with it or not. I don’t think that site is too ajax based and I don’t know if you want to use animated gifs. My wild guess is that it should work there.. If not you could still use it in another project.
Is there a way to set JIG galleries to paginate automatically by default. My galleries have about 400 images in them and I want to make sure it loads fast eneough. Thoughts? Perhaps another plugin to work in tandem?
Not with another plugin, but if you set up ‘load more’ in the plugin’s settings, you don’t need to care about it for each gallery it gets applied to all of them. Just don’t use the preset attribute because that’ll override the plugin’s settings.
Awesome. This will work nicely. THANK YOU! Great job by the way.
Actually with today’s update you can choose a preset in the shortcode AND style the load more, it’s been fixed.
Pre purchase question. I think this is the kind of image grid I’ve been looking for.
What I want to accomplish is something similar to this site. http://simplicityphotography.com/blog/
A WP blog with images in masonry style for each post. Is this something I can do with this plugin?
Thanks
Sarah
Yes you can set up a grid and link to each post automatically. It’s called the recent posts feature, that you can limit to more than just a few.
Hi,
Using your plugin and Foobox with Nextgen.. for some reason my images are being distorted when I upload them. I need them to display in the width/height they are uploaded in to prevent this distortion.
Do you know if anything on your plugin could be causing this? I have disabled all resize features in NextGen and there’s no re-sizing options in FooBox..
Thanks, great plugin.
Haven’t heard of this before, could you show and example link to see what do you mean by distortion?
I have it sorted now. It was a Foobox setting which I missed. Sorry
Ok.
Hi Firsh, first off great product.
I’m currently trying to pull Flickr images but nothing is showing up. You can click on the page and an empty light box will come up. Not sure what to do. I tried changing to different jquery settings but nothing helped. Can you take a look?
I emailed you my login details.
Thank you
Sent you a mail.
Pre-purchase question: Does this work with feature images as well?
Thanks!
Yes, it’s the recent posts feature. You can also use nextgen photos as recent posts and the grid will pick them up.
Thanks Firsh!
Hi. Great Gallery. I’m trying to add the short code into the page but the generator doesn’t seem to respond. Can you help? Thank you.
Have you followed the documentation and have ids parameter filled out if you are on WP3.5?
Yes I have installed 3.5 and deleted and re-installed the plug-in but I still get the same issue. I can see the “Create Shortcode” btn but it looks like the words get cut off next to it.
Can you contact me fopm my profile then send a screenshot? There is a text field that gets selected with the created shortcode.
Just sent you an email. I can’t add images in. Please reply there. Thank you.
Ok.
The new version v1.4.5 includes a fix, make sure you update!
Hi, is it possible to filter the pics in the Thumbnail Gallery by categories somehow? I’m thinking about having the pics directly on the gallery page without subpages and filter them instead of having single portfolio pages for portrait, wedding, etc…
If you use the recent posts feature you can filter the posts by category then their attached images will form the grid. This is the only type of filtering currently available.
sounds good, but that means each image needs its own category, or? i don’t know where i can specify this
No, you have like 5 posts in category x that has id ‘36’ then enter the include category in the recent posts settings in the shortcode editor. It’ll show the 5 featured images of posts in category x.
but it is not possible to filter the pics in one gallery, right?
Right, no.
OK! Other question. For some reason my page is showing no grid. It is combined with nextgen. Nextgen galleries will be shown with the nextgen [nggallery id=1], but with [justified_image_grid nggallery=1] i get nothing. Are there special additional plugins necessary?
I tried it now with the normal gallery and not attached nggallery, here i got following error: Post 615 does not have any attached images! (command for this is: [justified_image_grid ids=”656,655,654,653,652”]) Does this help? Otherwise i tried everything what was explained in the manual (hopefully in the right way). But till yet it isn’t working. It worked a few days ago, but i have now a new WP installation…
i want to have a working grid with nextgen in the end.
Can you show me you page? Have you downloaded the current update released yesterday?
No, this i haven’t
i have downloaded the update now, but havn’t installed it yet. should i?
Yes, uninstall the old one and install the new one then tell me so I can check again.
i installed it now. at the moment the same problem, i haven’t done more
I think your theme is missing the wp footer. Contact me via email and send me the footer.php of your theme if you don’t know how and where to add it. http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_footer
The new version v1.4.5 includes NextGEN tags support that you might find useful, make sure you update!
Maybe recent posts has a cutoff date? One of the posts in question is almost 10 days old. Does it show X number of most recent posts, or posts from X number of days? Can I change this setting?
X number of recent posts, limited by ‘limit’ setting.
But does it also have a date limit, or is the issue as above?
No there is no date limit.
Bug report:
I have recent post items that are in two categories at once. (WP 3.5)
When I limit the recent posts to use only one category, like this: [justified_image_grid recent_posts=yes recents_include=7]
It will exclude posts that are ALSO in another category.
So for example, I have a post in both category 5 and 7, but it will not show in the grid for recents_include=7
Can you provide a bug fix?
I think that’s normal behavior. What do others think?
Hi, I’m trying to use this with flickr…I added my client’s username and the API key he provided into the Settings, but when I go to insert the gallery no flickr username comes up to select. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks, I’m looking forward to getting this working!
Have you saved after adding the api key and also after adding your user?
Yes, I did…also, now I’m trying to add a gallery and it’s not working at all (a normal WP gallery). Could there be another conflict?
Send me a link to your page maybe it’s another kind of error.
Here is a post that I want to use JIG on: http://50.116.98.107/~earthway/the-earth-ways-permaculture-garden-in-july/
My plugin is not added to that page
hmmm I added the gallery code, and then I also added the JIG code below it. The JIG gallery does not show up but the regular one does.
These are the 2 codes I have put on that page: [gallery link=”file” ids=”339,359,344,353,352,355,345,340,358,357,356,354,351,350,349,348,347,346,343,342,341”]
[justified_image_grid ids=339,359,344,353,352,355,345,340,358,357,356,354,351,350,349,348,347,346,343,342,341]
I see it now. I think when you move the site to a hosting it’ll work properly. Not it appears as a test server and the paths are a bit messy. This should not result in 404: http://50.116.98.107/~earthway/wp-content/plugins/justified-image-grid/timthumb.php?src=http://50.116.98.107/~earthway/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/pigtractor003-1024x680.jpg&h=310&q=90&f=.jpg So it’s a server setup probem. In the documentation, troubleshooting there is a few things you can try like you were using hostgator.
Ok, I’ll just set up the galleries in NextGen for now and give the JIG a go when the site is complete.
I’ll let you know if I have further problems then. Thanks for your help!
Okay!
Hi ! First thanks a lot for your great work ! And, sorry for my english, but it’s not my first language, so…. Well, since five or six hours, i tried to put a f*%=g video on my grid by a JIT link, but there is always www.mydomain.com/ before the vimeo link. Could you help me, a little ? Here’s my homepage (worki’n progress) : http://mathieu-arbez-hermoso.net/
thanks in advance and keep worki’n
You have to start your vimeo link with http!
arglgl :/ Okay, i’m a noob, i know. thx ^^
Justified Image Grid is now able to pull videos from Vimeo and Youtube using RSS feeds! Grab the latest version today.
This has to be the best script on codecanyon yet. The flickr option is totally awesome and support is great! 5 stars in my book!
Thanks!
There is a new version v1.4.5, make sure you update!
Hi,
I love this plugin, but I was wondering is there anyway to limit how big an image gets? Its just if someone is on a huge screen, they will see the pics really big and they get pixelated, so if I could limit it to say the images should never be bigger then 1200px or so it would solve the problem. I don’t want to have to upload huge images files.
Just wondering.
thanks, and keep up the fabulous work, Karina
If you are using wordpress images there is a setting to use the ‘Large’ size, defined by wordpress even if you upload very big images. But this is not a lightbox function, it simply serves a resized image.
great plugin! been looking a long time for this!
Question: When I open any image into lightbox, every image gets an url, in my case, *boine.com/landskap/#prettyPhoto1/1/ Is it possible to change #prettyphoto to something else? especially important when sharing with twitter for instance.
also, changing settings in the plugin settings doesnt seem to change anything on my current galleries.
and last, is it possible to at a paypal buy button in the pretty photo lightbox view?
It’s possible to change but it’s not a plugin setting, it’s done via editing the prettyphoto itself, and it’s kind of tricky.
Your settings don’t change because you’ve selected a preset in the shortcode. That overrides most of the settings. Select a preset in the plugin settings, then fine tune that. For the shortcode, leave out the preset attribute.
PayPal button: no, that sort of thing is a customization.
oh, thats too bad. and, that makes sense
cheers mate!
ok, one solution was to turn of deep linking in the pretty photo section.
Yes you can disable that but then you can’t link to a specific picture. I thought you wanted to change the word prettyPhoto to someting like ‘gal’
Hi Firsh,
Nice plugin! The new interface is a big improvement, great work!
One issue: the gallery doesn’t always pick up all the images attached to a page – I get inconsistent layouts. I am using the gallery for navigation, so losing page links is critical. This often resolves on refresh, but not always. I have seen this in Firefox, Chrome, Safari and IE8.
One suggestion: I know this is a justified image grid, but it would be great to be able to turn off justify – so the rows align from the left or right only and the other side is not aligned.
Thanks!
Thanks.
Can you link what do you mean it doesn’t pick them up. Maybe you have a lot of images together on one page and the server can’t handle?
No, this is the point of the plugin. I’m thinking about a cropped to sqares gallery mode but that is justified as well.
Hi, I’ll message you with the login. Thanks!
Hi Mr Developer, sorry for my english. I buy your plugin but i’m not able to use it. I try to build a gallery with official gallery of wordpress and after I replace the code gallery with the justified…. but nothingh happens, i try in all the way and i cannot do it. Please can you send me the right way?
Do you have the ids attribute filled out? Are you doing it according to the docs? Can you show me a link of what you did so far? Maybe it’s a server error but you did everything well.
Hi,
A couple of questions:
1.- Does it work in multisite? 2.- In how many sites can I use it? 3.- Related to #2. Is there a developer license or similar?
Awesome plugin!!!!
1. Yes why not. If you experience problems you can let me know.
2. One domain per regular license.
3. No such thing as multiuse license available. Extended license here doesn’t mean that but it’s disabled anyway.
thx
Thanks. But I have a multisite install for my customers websites, and I need the plugin to be activated network-wide. For your answer, it cannot be done….
Can you ask envato support about it?
