Page: Yes, custom links feature you can point them anywhere by providing an URL
It can call latest blog posts (can be filtered by category), but with inner WP methods like other recent posts plugins, not via RSS

The RSS feature was added recently! Can you confirm if it works with photoshelter? I can’t get an actual rss feed link as I’m not familiar with that site or subsites. I mean the feed url that you can subscribe to.

Hi, I am looking to purchase this plugin and was wondering if it supports pagination as I will have many photos in the gallery.
It has ‘load more’ type of pagination visible in the preview. No 1 2 3 > stuff.
Is it possible to include 1 2 3 in next release ?
I’m not planning it currently. There is a problem with it and it’s this: I’d want to set that up with deeplinking so you could link to a page. Hashtag is already used by prettyPhoto, and the WP routing is taken by NextGen albums or can be taken by it if you choose that (generates its own URL path elements after the WP path). I’m not sure where could I put my own code in. Load more is kind of the next generation of pagination, it’s fast and easy to use. I know from my experience that I don’t like going through pages of small sets of images, I usually click away after one or two pages. See that facebook has the new kind of pagination as well (or at least I haven’t seen 1 2 3 recently). People also only look at the first page of google search results and the next pages are barely viewed. However if it had an automatical load more by scrolling down more people would see the other results.

Just having a minor issue. Since the latest WP update, !’m not able to delete images from an existing Gallery. I can see the minus sign over the image, but when I click it or Clear (below) it doesn’t stick. Deleting the image on the right column deletes it from the Media library. Should I just start again? (they are very large galleries, so was hoping not to). Any advice would be great, thanks…
If you click on it again it should unselect it I don’t know. It is an issue of standard WP interface no? Well if you know the ID of that image you can remove that id from the ids parameter manually. To get the id go to the media library and hover over some of the links around the image, the status bar should eventually reveal it.

Hi Firsh! Thank you for your plugin and help. How I can make pretty galeries of my photos! I have two questions. 1.When I try to use hidden images [limit=10 max_rows=1], in lightbox all hidden images showed without titles. What I made wrong? 2. On iPAD slideshow works very strange.

The hidden images are created by using links to the images but the images are not added to those elements. In order for something to show up in the lightbox captions you need to use link title field and not the image alt. So if you have a title, choose link title to display ‘title’. Img alt won’t get used since no images are added to the hidden links. Hope it makes sense.

I just purchased the Justified Image Grid. I use it with NextGen, and seem to be having problems with nested album navigation.
Clicks on albums, for navigating into sub-album, etc, seem to be functioning incorrectly. Clicks on albums get redirected to same page. Clicking to view gallery images work fine though.
Is this the intended behaviour?

I tried executing the options listed under FAQ, but those steps do not seem to fix the problem. Is there anything else to it? File permissions need to be taken care of?

The site is in maintenance mode I can’t see it. Anyway you seem to have skipped a step because ?album=2 is the cause. It should be /albumname, that’d mean permalinks are on. If I had access I could only to these, and seems to work for this type of problem. Watch the steps closely
NextGEN albums/galleries link to the same page, nothing happens.
Go to NextGEN settings, on Gallery tab, tick this: ’ The album will not link to a gallery subpage. The gallery is shown on the same page. ‘
Then on General tab, tick this: ‘Activate permalinks When you activate this option, you need to update your permalink structure one time. Gallery slug name ‘
Then click Create new URL friendly image slugs Proceed now
You may also need to go to the WP settings -> Permalinks, revert to default then change back to what you had (if you had a custom one, copy that to a safe place).

Your jQuery version (1.6.2) is old, this plugin needs at least 1.7, please go to the plugin settings and choose another jQuery source. If this does not work then your theme or a plugin is not using WordPress best practices and forces the loading of an old version. In that case contact the author of Justified Image Grid.

I think this fixed it! I went to the plugins settings and went to the jQuery source and selected “Latest from Google with local fallback to the Plugin’s version.”

If it throws the error you can’t keep the wp native code there sorry. Somewhere it allows to keep it like on my setup, but it seems that your setup doesn’t like it. If you wish to change it later, just create the [gallery ids=”834,833”] copy over the ids from my shortcode.

Can I make this plugin work with tabs. I have created some tabs on post/pages and want to display images below each tab. The images are displayed with default gallery. But when I enter JIG short code, it shows the error that there are no images attached with this post. I have tried 4-5 different tab plugins and all show the same error.

It’s not compatible with ajax/tabs. The error you are seeing is however not normal. Follow the documentation to add images to the JIG gallery.
I added the images and JIG code through text editor now and its actually working with tabs.Thanks a lot.

Well I would love to but am sorry. I was just testing with it and deleted page afterwards. But this is simply what I did: used WP UI plugin to add tabs for the page containing gallery made with JIG ( in text editor). Twenty twelve theme.

Nextgen is’nt the best seo gallery. Descriptions are not indexed and there are no permanent links 2 images that wil be correctly indexed. Is there a way improving seo with JIG? I.e. adding gallery tags and descriptions 2 an imagepage.
The photo’s are presented beautifull, but nobody will find it organic. My previous site with the basic wordpress photo uploader/editor worked much better (seo) than this
I don’t think my plugin will improve your SEO. By why SEO the images? I think the focus is on the textual content. Image search mostly only aids people that steal other people’s images to put on their own site.
When you scroll down on the page my other question is why are some of the images full size and others sized down.

No it’s not normal. How many posts and images do you have in total (approx). I’ll look into it why the grid breaks. Have you tried displaying less images? Maybe with load more.
If you look at the very right edge of the images (those that are still looking like they are in order), you’ll notice they very a few pixels and not perfectly justified! This is not how it should look like. I’d suggest removing the img tag’s max-width: 100% css from the theme’s style.css, other than that it might be another css or js conflict as well.
I set the max-width to none there was no change to the grid. If I change to the Twenty Twelve Theme it does load a bit faster, but the images are display no different than what I see in the Balance theme. In all my troubleshooting the images are displayed the same from what I can tell.
One thing that is normal is that some images display 2 images per row and some take the full row. You can play with that setting using the row height and height deviation. Which I don’t like is that it doesn’t justify perfectly for some reason.

This was the album name and permalink of Nextgen. Have changed and it’s still not. No success with other templates. I’ll send you the access times to the side
Already have tried all settings. Now have 17 templates tried both local and online, the error remains. Can it be that it’s up to Justified ImageGrid?

I tried it without my plugin and it doesn’t work when it’s just nextgen, alone. It’s a problem of nextgen I think, which should be working before using my plugin.

Please let me give you an older version of Justified ImageGrid to test.
Would you like and older version? I don’t recommend downgrading. It’s just that it’s incompatible with the theme, the older version will be too.
I have massive problems with Justified ImageGrid with the templates Nimble and Green Earth. Therefore I am looking for a solution. In other templates I have no problems.
I saw the problem happen for nextgen gallery alone, and my plugin just makes use of nextgen’s routing. Your themes interfere with nextgen’s routing I think. If it doesn’t work with nextgen on its own it’s not going to work with my gallery either. Can you choose another theme?
How do I know which works template? I have been working 2 template not bought. Again spend money?

You could ask their authors about nextgen compatibility. Don’t ask for JIG compatibility because what you need is nextgen compatibility first.

I recently purchased the Justified Image Grid & I am having trouble getting it to work … I seem to have uploaded the gallery OK but when I look to view the site in the browser it doesn’t display properly …
My latest attempt at a post containing a JIG can be found at http://chanctonbury.org/nhs-model/ & what I currently see if a series of what look like watermark spark-line thumbnails. When I hover over them the pop up window says “Views over 48 hours – click for more site stats.”
I would appreciate some help as I am sure it is basic user error on my part.

A massive thank you to Firsh for making the time to trouble shoot and resolve my ‘conflict’ issues through a half hour phone call yesterday evening. This really was above and beyond the call of duty and I am very grateful and look forward to learning more and more about galleries generally and Justified Image Grids in particular.

You would like to search through the images on the front end, in my gallery? Sorry that’s not possible. If you meant the back end WP3.5 has a good ability to look through the media library.
I wouldn’t want to use the plugin so much to show a gallery as a tag-driven array of posts, with the image being the “featured image” associated with the posts. Is this possible?
You can narrow the recens posts by category IDs. The images can link to the post or act as a simple gallery (created from featured images).

The problem lies in that the WP installation (calling domain) is
http://www.finishingtouchweddingphotography.co.uk/but your site is on the http://www.thefinishingtouch.co.uk
can you create a path starting with the http://www.thefinishingtouch.co.uk that points to wp-content/plugins/justified-image-grid/timthumb.php?
If so, add the newly created path to the custom timthumb path setting.
Or you could disable the hotlinking protection in timthumb.php manually (not preferred).

You know your server config and installation. The timthumb path can be set in the plugin’s settings -> Timthumb tab.
I’m not sure where or what the server config is, so perhaps it would be easier to turn off the protection, as my website hasn’t got protection anyway. Which line or lines of the timthum.php code should I change?
In timthumb-config.php change ‘BLOCK_EXTERNAL_LEECHERS’ to false

Since the images are actually server from a different domain, special effects will likely not work.
