Hello, I’m using the Progress Map extension for WordPress. The map displays correctly when I’m logged into the WordPress dashboard. However, when I view a page containing the map while not logged in, it fails to load and displays a blank page instead. Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue so the map is visible to all visitors?
I have checked the console and it says: Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined at map/:338:40944 Is it a compatibility issue?

On the homepage of my site tripsygypsy.com I have an interactive map of the US. When you click on a location spot using a desktop computer, you are automatically rerouted to the details for that vacation destination. When you click on athe same location spot using your cell phone, you are not given the details, only a static picture. Please let me know how this can be remedied, thx.

When you mention being rerouted to the details for that destination, I assume you are referring to the carousel. If so, please note that the “Horizontal” display of the carousel is not responsive. That’s why you only see the picture; the details are hidden because they are outside the screen’s viewport. In the meantime, you can switch to the “Vertical” view, which adapts to both desktop and mobile screens. Please note that the next release of the plugin will address this issue. It will include a new carousel that is responsive and offers much better performance. The next release will be available soon.

I am following up for my client. There are additional issues with this map:
1. I am unable to save any changes to the infomap; when I try to do so I am getting the following error:

3. Can we remove this message that pops up when you select a marker: “A new location has been selected…”?

I just checked your website. Regarding the error message that appears when you save the map, I believe the issue is with the core files of WordPress. It may be related to the PHP version your server is using. If possible, please contact your hosting provider and ask them to switch to PHP version 8.0, then try again.
As for the issue where the rest of the map is grayed out when you select a location and try to find a place, I made a screen recording to show how the map works for me (check the link below). From my perspective, there’s nothing wrong with it. Please make a video recording to demonstrate how to reproduce your issue.

1. We are running PHP 8.1.29 so that’s not the issue. 2. Please check the grayed out issue on a phone. Some of the locations don’t have an issue but others do. Try selecting the Dog Bark Park in Cottonwood, IA, and then select “Airport” under Places. The issue seems to be that the target location and the “Place” aren’t both visible in the window, which means the user has to zoom out to see both. This is not intuitive. I can send a screenshot if you tell me where to send it. 3. No way to remove it? Can’t this be done with CSS?
Update: Regarding my first issue above about the WP error, I contacted our site host and they suggested you check if there is an issue with the configuration of our site (for example a conflict with another plugin) causing the issue and if possible to have you run a few tests on your side on whether you can edit anything in the installation. They also said the error appears to be in this file: tripsygypsy.com/public_html/wp-includes/kses.php

It took 5 months to get a response and now you’re not willing to review the comments to determine status? Unbelievable. I am not going to waste my time or my client’s money starting from scratch; and you my need to refer back to your previous response. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY:
1. We have paid our developer to fix the recurring WP error, which was being caused in part by the fact that your plug-in hasn’t been updated since May 2024.
2. When you select a location and then try to find a “place” like an airport, a marker shows up for the “place” (if available), but the rest of the visible map is grayed out… you cannot see where this “place” is in relation to the selected marker location. 2. I tested selecting “Dog Bark Park in Cottonwood” and then chose “Airport” under Places. Since there is only one airport near your address, the map automatically adjusts its boundaries and zooms in on that specific airport. This behavior is intentional and part of the plugin’s design, not a malfunction. Please note, if you click on the airport marker, the map will display the route to your address, making your address marker visible as well. Otherwise, you’ll need to zoom out to view all available markers.
3. Regarding the message “A new location has been selected”, it’s not possible to remove this message, even with CSS.
Lastly, I’d like to remind you that you’re still eligible for a refund if you’re not satisfied with the plugin experience. Please submit a refund request, and it will be approved.

Thank you for the response. I see that the route to the airport nearest Dog Bark Park is now showing when I click the marker. Can you tell me why Miami Intl. Airport (which is 60 mi away) doesn’t show up when I click on Jules Undersea Lodge in Key Largo, FL? Can you remind me the scope of a search around a marker point and if that can be adjusted?
I would suggest the functionality of the map be changed to show the route to the nearest major airport as soon as one searches. It’s not intuitive to click on the marker to see the distance from the point of origin.
It took many hours of work to set up your map and integrate it with Envira Gallery plug-in. My client cannot afford to start over from scratch with a new plug-in, so a refund doesn’t help her.
Also, I was told you would be making the infoboxes responsive in an upcoming release … that was many months ago. Is there any progress on this?

The airport you mentioned is 60 miles away, which exceeds the maximum search radius allowed by the Google Places API. The API supports searches within a maximum distance of 31 miles.

I would like to display the entire restricted bounds of a map (currently bounds match size of overlaid image). While the map will not zoom out past the bounds (good), it is too zoomed in so that the full image/map is not visible on page load. How do I fix this so the entire restricted bounds are visible without having to drag/zoom? Thx!

I suggest activating the “Autofit” option first. If this doesn’t work, try setting a small zoom level for the map, such as 1.

Sorry, I was completely misunderstanding what that shortcode was doing which is not what I’m looking for. What I’m looking for is a way to have the Search Form (where you enter an address and it zooms to that location) that is currently embedded in the map outside the map…either on the same page as the map or on a different page and then submit to the map page for display. Is that possible?

Hello, I installed the plugin and the Nearby Places extension on a client’s site. My client sells housing, and he wanted each page describing a house to include a map showing the surrounding amenities. The Nearby places extension works very well for this. But my client would like to be able to choose which amenities are displayed. That is to say, not just choose the category of amenity, but be able to enter one by one the shops, schools, etc. that specifically interest him around a house. I’ve looked at the documentation, but I can’t see any way of doing this. Is there a way to do this that I haven’t seen? Thank you for your help

I understand your client’s request, but please note that all data is provided by the “Google Maps Places” service, which doesn’t allow selecting specific places to display. However, there is a new option that will be available in the upcoming version (in the next few days) that allows filtering places by keyword. This new feature can help reduce the number of listed places. Beyond this, I don’t see any other options to meet your client’s requirements.

I’m working with different marker categories, to show different pointer images. I open the content in a modal window. Is it possible to work with different modal window sizes per category? I only see 1 setting in the admin.
For one category the contents is always small/less, and it would be more beautiful if the modal window is a big smaller in that case. For the other categories is can remain bigger.

Unfortunately, adjusting the modal dimensions based on categories and/or pages is not possible. You can only define a single size for the modal or open it in fullscreen mode.

is there a maximum number of markers / posts you recommend for the map? We plan to present 150+ projects in the map. Already now with 10+ projects it seems like the browser (chrome) is working quite hard to display the plugin. Is the plugin tested for a large number? If yes, what is the biggest number of posts, that has been tested? Or will the number of markers / posts not affect the performance of the plugin? Before we enter a large number of items, we´d be thankful for your assessment or recommendation on that.

The plugin can easily handle thousands of locations without any issues. Displaying 150+ locations on the map should not be a problem at all. Please send me the link to your map so I can check it out. It might be something else causing the slow loading of the map.

Hi there, in Marker Cluster settings for a map I just replaced the blue circle with a black one. But on the map it only shows the top left 25% of the circle. I’ve set the pixels to 30×30 as per the image size.. Can’t figure out why my image wont display centred? Would appreciate your help.

is it possible, to make the header (menu) and footer of a page disappear, when the page is opened in the popup window via progress map? When the page is directly opened via URL, then we´d need to show header and footer though.
If this feature is not implemented in your framework, can we code it via CSS? Or Java Skript?

Removing the header and footer when opening the popup is not possible. However, you can force the popup to open in fullscreen mode, which will effectively hide the header and footer. The guide uses the page ID as a parameter to apply the new query settings. In your case, you can modify the code to include your URL parameters as well. I hope this helps.

the plugin works fine in chrome, but does not work properly on our safari browser on Mac; also in your demo the map does not appear. Only the markers are shown. Instead of the Google Map there is only a grey space with the text “Sorry, we have no imagery here”.
Any idea, what we can do? I am not a programmer but would forward your feedback to our coding crew.

Update: On other safari browsers it seems to work fine. The browser where it does not work is: Version 15.6.1 (15613.3.9.1.16, 15613) -> maybe too old?
