I just purchased and installed this plugin but it does not seem to be working at all.
In the Media Library, when I bulk select in the grid view, the “Regenerate” button does not display.
When in table view, after selecting various images, the “Regenerate” option does not appear in the drop down.
In the attachment view, the “Regenerate” button is there but it does nothing when clicked.
There is no Media > Thumbnails page available.
I have WP Real Media Library 4.0.6, WP Real Thumbnail Generator 2.0.1, and ShortPixel Image Optimizer 4.12.7 installed. Those are the only plugins that interact with the Media Library.

Feature idea : Compatibility with “Crop-Thumbnails” crop parameters.
Since its version 1.2.0 the plugin “Crop-Thumbnails” save the crop parameters inside the attachement metadata. It would be great to have an option – in “WP Real Thumbnail Generator ” settings – to enable the regeneration of thumbnails with these crop parameters (if “Crop-Thumbnails is actived and if the crop parameters are stored for the attachement). What do you think about it?

Congratulation for the compte rewrite: the UI look nice! I updated to WP Real Thumbnail Generator v2.0 this morning. But when I activate the plugin I have the following database error:

Crop-Thumbnails v1.2.4 add the filter “crop_thumbnails_filename” to make it possible to change the target path/filename.
Yeah, the plugin should now work with Crop-Thumbnails because RTG already uses that filter. Regards, Matthew
When I use “Crop-Thumbnail”, the cropped thumbnail is saved with the right filename.
But then I inspect the single file with “Real Thumbnail Generator” and the plugin tells me “The file does no longer exist on filesystem” next to the size I cropped. Maybe the new attachment meta isn’t saved?
Furthermore, if I use the “Regenerate” button in “Real Thumbnail Generator”, it doesn’t use the crop parameters stored in the attachment metadata by “Crop-Thumbnail”.

Hello Matthew, there was in fact collision with other plugin called “Simple Matted Thumbnails” that I rely on. After disabling it works. Unfortunately I cannot keep it disabled.

Hi Matthias, I was wondering if there is some customization that can be done to change the default folder location. For example can the thumbnails be stored in a folder further back in the the folder tree or does it have to be a subfolder of the uploads folder? The reason is I have a lot of users uploading to S3 and thumbnails being stored on S3 are not ideal. Looking at storing thumbnails somewhere else.

We have purchases your plug-in a few weeks ago. We tried to regenerate all thumbnails and ticked the box: “If there is an old schema for an image, use new schema for regenerate and delete old thumbnails. If you check this option, all image sizes will be regenerated”. However, it has not made new thumbnails to all pictures. There this should actually have been a thumbnail to a dress.

I need some help in the configuration because I think I did not set something correctly.
Before buying your plugin I used the free (https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/) plugin, and it worked fine, but it did not allow me to select a single size, so it resized all the thumbnails without distinction.
Your plugin instead allows me to select only a single size, and this is what I was looking for.
I selected only the size that interested me, launched the regeneration, but the images are not being resized.
if it worked with the free plugin, I do not see why it does not have to go with yours.
What I did is this:
- basically I generated my own thumbnail and assigned to all the images on this page: I create the thumbnail with add_image_size( ‘villa-collection-size’, 1400, 930, true );
- Then I go to MEDIA -> THUMBNAIL -> I SELECTED only VILLA-COLLECTION-SIZE and press to Regenerate All Thumbnail
- I waited for it to end, I see the page in question, but the image nothing change.
with the free plugin instead it worked, what could I have done wrong? Thank you

I used 2 of the plugin on your site: 1) Square Thumbnails – it makes my square thumbnails not cropping the picture and adding to it a white edge 2) Force Regenerate Thumbnails – it regenerates the already existing thumbnails making them square I like your plugin because of the creation of the folders I bought it, but it does not work with Square Thumbnails, the thumbnails are cropped and are not beautiful, spoiling the look of my website. Is it possible to teach the plugin to work with Square Thumbnails?

I am planning to get RML, just wanted to know if this plugin can prevent auto thumbnail generation done by wordpress so that I can manuall regenerate the thumbnails? We are about to upload 100,000’s of images and they are just gallery images which we do not want all the thumbnails to be generated, but want post images to be generated.
Or does this work with https://wordpress.org/plugins/image-sizes/ where we have all thumbnails ticked to prevent regeneration, but your plugin can override this?

My client has already supplied their 500+ images in numerous folders on their local machine in readiness for upload to their media library (which already uses WP Real Media Library and Physical Custom Upload Dir for Real Media Library). They/I want to upload this folder and have all the folders and sub-folders replicated on upload as per what’s on local. Is this WordPress Real Thumbnail Generator what I require in order to do this?

Hi Matthew, thanks for your response. Just to clarify, we’re not looking to upload from another server, but just from my local computer. My client has provided all the images within a folder and sub-folder structure which they’d like replicated within their Real Media Library, with physical folders retained as per what they’ve created. Is this possible with this plugin?

That’s a shame, many clients will organise all their images locally in folders and sub folders prior to upload whilst a site is being developed. Any sort of timescale on this feature?

Hi Mattias, Sorry one more question. Is there a way to delete unused filesizes/thumbnails when bulk selecting images in the real media library admin? I selected “delete unused sizes” in the bulk regenerate window, but there is no option to save this setting. I found that I can delete unused image sizes individually in the real media libary, but I don’t see this option for bulk selecting when, for example, I’m fine-tuning a specific folder of images. Wenn ich im Datei hinzufügen Popup ein Bild anklicke, dann bekomme ich ja rechts die Seide mit den Bildinfos, den Einfüge-Optionen, etc. Und eben durch Dein Plugin die Infos über die unterschiedlichen Bildgrößen mir dem Regenerieren-Button oben drüber.
Wenn ich nun das Bild wieder deaktiviere und ein anders Bild auswähle, dann bekomme ich zwei unterschiedliche Auflistung der Bildgrößen, etc.. Wahrscheinlich ist eine von dem vorher selektieren Bild und eine von dem aktuellen.
Wiederhole ich das Deaktivieren des Bilder / Auswahl eines neuen Bildes, dann bekomme ich immer mehr der Auflistungen.
Ich finde das sehr irritierend, denn eigentlich sollte doch nur eine Liste – und zwar die des aktuell ausgewählten Bildes dargestellt werden.
Ein Feature oder ein Bug?
