Hello, pre purchase question. I run a membership website. I want to hide the bar on my homepage to all users, but enable the bar to be seen by all users when they log in. is this possible with your plugin? thanks
Hi thecraigbell,
Unfortunately, this is impossible. When you hide menu, it will effect with users have logged in.
If you really want plugin have this feature, I can add it into plugin for you, and with a little fee. Thanks.
HI, what is the name of this plugin displaying on the plugin list?
Hi,
It’s Hide Admin Menu, and the current version is “2.1.3”
Hey I’ve locked myself out from being able to edit the hide menu settings:
re:Your reply to another user:
“To remove plugin settings, use a tool like phpMyAdmin to remove plugin’s options: “rw_hide_admin_menu” and “rw_hide_admin_bar”.
Or you can download this file: http://pastebin.com/QLFFgrAa and put it on your root folder and run it.”
Could you give me more detailed information how to do this….???
Many thanks!
Hi,
If you use phpMyAdmin, you can delete option of plugin in table “wp_options”. When you look at rows in this table you will see row as in this picture: http://i.imgur.com/fJUFDeh.png. You just need to delete this row, the menu of plugin will display again.
Exactly what I was looking for. Great Plugin, easy to setup and manage. 10/10 would recommend.
Greetings.
Thanks a lot, kevinb91.
Hi I have 50 websites mostly clients can I ask does this plug in automatic update through WordPress?
I think you don’t update this through WordPress but for me I need one that’s updates in WordPress just like the other WordPress plug in. I did buy another plug in from codecanyon that up dates through WordPress and it was an image slider so I know it can be done but what he did was you would download the license key and enter in WordPress then it updates through WordPress I would as you to update this so that we can updates through WordPress. Some like me who has more many websites more than 50+ of clients it would be more better than manually uploaded and updating the plug in through ftp to more than 50+ sites I can tell you just know that the way you have set up is not good as its more of pain to update to all the sites and would be easy for your costumers if you have the update within WordPress and before the plug in works it should have some kind of key to so that it can update through WordPress. I ask you to add this ASAP. Syfer1987
Can you do this I have many clients can you please reaply been two days I need your answer.
Hi,
Yes, the plugin has its own method to auto update. This is a premium plugin hosted on my server, all the updates go though my server, not via WordPress. But the procedure is similar to normal WordPress.org plugins (notifications, popup, how to install new versions), and you can’t see the difference.
thanks you I will buy this know ps your support page on your website was not letting me register it keeps say im a robot when I am human. Any way if I need support I will post it here thanks
Yes, let’s for me know when you meet the troubles
Hi For WordPress 3.9 compatible? When is the planned upgrade?
Hi It is compatible with Wordpress 3.9.1, we checked for that.
Just purchased the hide admin plugin for word press. I installed and it works good, so good i hid features from myself. How can i view the features i locked admins from seeing, which is basically all of them. Didn’t know it would lock me out too…. I cant access the hide admin controller anymore
i need to rest the plugin, please help, i cannot access anything but the plugins menu, since thankfully i didnt check that. I disabled the plugin, which restored everything , but even when i delete the file and re install it just locks everything up again. How can i fix this so i can use the plugin??
can you please create an update to select specific admins so this doesn’t happen anymore…
Please read this tutorial http://www.deluxeblogtips.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=1874. Thanks.
Just an excellent and fully functional plugin, I really recommand it! For those who wonder if it works with the Admin Menu Editor plugin, I can confirm: YES!
@rilwis, can you please do an update that adds options to the plugin, like : hiding widgets, and other sections, like “contextual help”, or “screen options”, hiding footer text, and customize it, in admin dashboard? This would be very useful
Thank’s!
Thanks for the great idea
Hello,
I’ve installed this plugin. but as Admin i can no more edit my widgets !!!!!!!!!
could you please help ?
thx
Hi rilwis,
this is a very interesting tool (plug-in). Here is a mise-en-situation I am thinking of, and if I am able to accomplish the following?
- Client logs into their webite, and can add new pages/posts, but I would like to disable a part of a “theme options” panel that a ThemeForest theme offers (e.g. Avada Theme Options > Custom CSS), or is there only the possibility to disable the parent panel in its entirety? If disabled for a user, will it affect the website on the front end?
- If I disable panel that is used to customize the log-in screen, will this affect the result (e.g. the customized log-in screen), or will it just remove the panel from the default WordPress sidebar?
Thank You in advance!
Hello rilwis,
I am looking forward to your response – thank you!
Hi,
The plugin works with menu items only. The panels in Theme Options (Theme Options is a menu) is not what the plugin can work with. As you know, there are a lot of themes on ThemeForest and not all of them implement the panels the same way. No common at all!
I think the best way to hide panels is ask the theme author for help.
Hello rilwis,
thank you for the response and information – much appreciated!
Hey there,
Is it possible to hide the plugins and appearance tab using this?
I currently do it by editing the the main php file, but if this could do it would be so much easier!
Hi there, future buyer but before, does it work on WP 3.9 ? and didn’t really get the last questions about if client disable the plugin?? if the user role dont let touch the extension it could not do it, correct? Thanks
Hi,
It works with all versions of WP since 3.6, and of course, supports 3.9.
If the client disables the plugin, everything goes back to normal: no menu items are hid.
What if my client disable this plugin?
Then all menus just appear again.
very nice plugin, well worth it!
My only issue is that for the “Admin Bar” there is no way to disable the “Dashboard” link that drops down. I dont need this and it would really be nice to disable it, users dont need to know its Wordpress, it just makes it more confusing.
Also if we could also disable the search on the right side.
thanks!
Hi, the Dashboard item is a very special item: when in admin (where the plugin settings is loaded) it’s a link to the homepage, but in the frontend – link to dashboard. This kind of “dynamic” item might need a special (tricky) way to handle. I’ll look at this and also the Search box.
Thanks for letting me know!
Hi, with a fresh version of your plugin we can´t select contact form 7 option to hide on a user role. only shows hide option for admin user and we need hide to an extra user create with Members with similar privileges than Admin
How can we do that?
Hi, if there is no checkboxes, that means the menu doesn’t appear at all for that user roles. Have you tried logged in with new user role to see if the contact form 7 appear?
Hi,
I have just purchased your Plug-In and it really is very straightforward to use. I’m glad though that I initially read through the posts as this made sure that I didn’t try and hide any menu items belonging to Admin once I’d installed the plug-in.
I have though a problem for the User ‘Editor’ as I have ticked the box that says Pages ‘Add New’ so that I hide this from the Editor user as I just want the Editor User to see/edit the existing wordpress pages of the website and not create new pages. However when I test this out and login as a user with the role of Editor if I click on the menu button called ‘Pages’ I get the following message.. You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.
If I go back in as Admin and untick the ‘Add New’ box in Pages and then log back in as a User with the Editor role I am now able to see the full list of webpages.
Is there a reason as to why I can’t hide the Pages ‘Add New’ function for the Editor user?
Hi, I guess the problem is WordPress uses the same page ID for both All Pages and Add New (it’s edit.php). I’ll check this problem to see if there’s a fix for that.
Thanks for your comment! It’s very interesting case!
Thanks for looking into this problem, I’ll await your update.
Hi, just wondered if you had an update to the problem I raised?
Hi, I cannot believe I didn’t find your plugin before. I searched for hours on codecanyon before and now after a simple search with just “user role” your plugin came up!
Here is my situation. I’m planning a “Contributor Network” of writer and have a staff to accept/deny posts.
And I cannot have the staff have access to all that is in the backend.
With your plugin can I block plugins and all that I feel is important from being viewed or modified from certain users I give permission to the backend?
Yes, this is exactly what the plugin does. If you select any menu items from the plugin config page for an “user role”, they won’t be able to access those menus, even they know the URL.
Hi there!
The plugin keeps telling me, that there’s an update to v2.1.6 – but updating within WP fails. I just downloaded the latest version here on CC, but it’s still 2.1.4. What’s wrong?
Cheers!
Sorry, it’s a bug in my update system. Correct version is 2.1.4. I’ve just fixed it. Thanks for reporting!
Hello,
Your plugin seems to fit my needs.
But let me explain in few words what’s my goal I would like to create a role that gives a very customized access to the website that i manage. This role must allow them only to create their profile page from a custom posts type.
Do you think it’s possible?
Cri Paris
Yes, that’s what this plugin does. You should use this plugin in combination with user role management plugin like User Role Editor or Members. Use them to set role’s capabilities and use Hide Admin Menu to remove menus that they should not access.
Hello! what is happening if i hide the hide admin menu in the admin role? How do i put back?
You should never do this. But in emergency situation, please copy this to a PHP file http://pastebin.com/WvZU87f0 (let’s say “fix.php”) and upload to the root of your website and run it from browser (http://yourdomain.com/fix.php).
