Hello!

I have a question, it’s possible to add new links with i want?

Hi there,

The purpose of plugin is hide menu items on menu bar with individual users, and it does not feature add new one.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

And about the head bar? can edit there?

Hi

yes, the plug can hide the menu items on it, but there is a lack is it can’t hide “edit” item menu at this time.

Hi, I really like this. I have question, if i hide Menu from Administrator. How it can visible for administrator?

Thanks

Hi there,

You should NOT try to do it. If you hide from Administrator you have to change in code to delete all options from plugin to the menu is displayed. I think in this case you can create a custom role then assign it as administrator so it is better than.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Hello again! I have recently noticed that there is a problem with hiding part of the pages menu. I want my users to see the pages but not add a new. So I check the “add new page” checkbox and leave the others blank. This doesn’t work:I cannot see any page, although I see far left the Page menu ( I cannot see the dropdown-> All pages). If I check the “all pages” and leave blank the “Add new”, then it is working! I can add a new page, and I cannot see the others. Is it possible to fix this somehow?

Apart form that, can I make visible only one page (so the users can edit it) and hide the others? I cannot do it from your plugin, but do you have any other plugin that does this : hiding selective pages for users? I really appreciate your effort! It is a great plugin, worth growing more!!! :)

Babymaster,

first issue: I have created a custom role as well and it still doesn’t work. It keeps saying I do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.Doing the same thing with “Media” (restricting the add new media and just keeping Library open), it works just fine… Also, I disabled all relative plugins in order to see if there was any conflict, but this didn’t help. The problem remains.

As for the second: the visibility would affect the front-end as well. Knowing the code, do you think it would be possible to write a custom code, for the allowance of editing in one page, while the rest are restricted by your plugin?

thank you for your help!

Hi peri_marianna,

At the first issue: do your custom role have capacity to access All Page menu item?

Regarding to second question: we will make a discussion about your idea, if it is possible, we will add it into plugin.

Thanks.

Hello babymaster! -firstly: yes it has. It is a little bit frustrating. I tried also in a different demo site I have for testing conflicts beforehand (set up with different plugins etc) but still the same. Thank you in advance for any effort. Please take a look in the jetpack issue as well, for the next update. I would appreciate that! Cheers!

Great Plugin! Just a recommendation. I would change the note “No checkbox means the menu is not accessible for corresponding role”. To something along the lines of “If you do not see the checkbox for a specific role, it means that role by default does not have access to that menu.”

I (as a few I have seen in the comments) thought that meant, if the box is not checked it means it’s not accessible to that role. Therefore I checked off ALL the boxes for admin and locked my self out.

I deleted the options in PHPMyAdmin as suggested but that could have easily been avoided.

Otherwise, great plugin.

Hi there,

Thanks for informing that, we will check all plugin’s instructions again and change them more understandable.

Thanks.

Hello,Can we hide plugins or theme wehave installed? All the best

Hi there,

You can use the plugin to hide the menu items that are created by plugin or theme as example: setting pages, option page

Best Regards.

Hello there! Just bought the plugin and installed it. Two things:
  • -Jetpack (plugin) is not visible in your Admin Menu, so as to click and make it invisible.
  • -Two errors appear in your Admin Menu in lines of Header and Background (under appearance line). The error is the same in both lines: “Warning: printf() [function.printf]: Too few arguments in [...]wp-content/plugins/hide-admin-menu/inc/admin-pages/admin-menu.php on line 157”

Any thoughts on these problems? Thank you in advance Peri

Hi peri_marianna,

Regarding to first question, perhaps Jetpack plugin uses customization capacity so it doesn’t display on our plugin. We will take a look on it to know exactly problem and fix it. I will inform you when we finished. Thanks about your notification.

Regarding to second question, This is a warning and it doesn’t break your site, we will check that. In the meantime, you can hide that by set WP_DEBUG is false in file wp-config.php

Hope that helps.

Thanks.

Thank you for the answer! Please let me know for the jetpack fix, as this cncerns me mostly. As for the second, I am not so much worried, just a notification for you in order to fix it later on. Thank you

Working great for me. Much easier than Adminimize or researching functions for non-programmers, and you appear to support the plugin which is uncommon with the free ones on wordpress.org. Thanks for a great plugin and a very reasonable price!

Thanks a lot!

Hello,

I understand that this plugin is able to hide admin menu-items.

Suppose that I want to hide the menu-item “Pages”. What happens when some one enters the url of that menu-item? For example: http://www.domain.com/edit.php?post_type=page. Will it be showed or not? Please, advise.

Regards,

Eric

Please, respond

Hi ideasbyeb sorry about my late reply,

Regarding to your question, unfortunately, the pages will still be showed. This is a lack of plugin and we are trying to fix it.

Thanks.

Hi there,

Pre-sale Questions:

1) Will I be able to add custom menu items?

2) I have a Multisite-network, but every child-site has different plug-ins activated, so will all these plug-ins’ menus appear in the settings with option to hide them?

3) If #2 doesn’t work, can I install it on site individually within the network to customize the admin menu?

Thanks!

Hi afunworm,

Regarding to first question, the plugin can work with capacities are authorized on custom menu items, it mean if a role can access this custom menu item so you can use plugin to hide this menu item for this role.

Regarding to second question, of course, there plugins will be displayed on the hide admin menu but you need to login as superadmin

Hope that helps.

Thanks.

Hi,

Pre-Sales Question…

I am running a Multisite Network. I need to be able to customize the back-end admin menus for each subsite. Not every subsite is the same, so need to be able to set individual menus and submenus for each subsite.

I need to be able to hide parts of menus created by different plugins. For example, I want them to have control of things like appointment bookings, but not let them have access to the settings for that plugin.

Basically I need fine grain control on each subsite and still have full control for me, the Super Admin.

Can your plugin do this?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Of course, when plugin installs on multisite so It just is displayed for super admin.

Hope that helps.

Thanks.

Hello rilwis, Please help me, I’m in big trouble. I locked myself completely out of my website. After checking in I get to the page wp-admin/ with a short note telling me that I don’t have the rights to see this page. I’ guess I missunderstood your plugin. I thought that checking the boxes means granting rights and checked almost all the boxes. Is there a way to get in again? With filezilla I uploaded a backup of the file folders wp-admin, wp-content and wp-includes. That didn’t fix it. I’ve got an EZPZ-Backup zip-file. Can this be of any help?

Okay, just fixed it by simply deleting the plugin file folder. Please don’t laugh about me :-)

I am very glad when you resolved own problems. Let’s for me know if you meet any problems.

Thanks.

is there any way i can create new role – where i can still give access to more items than “editor” role and less items than “administrator” role

Hi aapta,

Our plugin works based on user role and capacities of role on items. That mean if you create a custom role, it can access items on your site so in hide admin menu plugin will displays checkboxes for your custom role with items that it can access to hide them.

Hope that helps.

Thanks

thx – can u suggest me some plugin to create custom roles similar to admin rights but bit less and bit more than editor role.

Hi,

Actually, we haven’t tried to check with any ones before, but I think you can try to use plugin : WPFront User Role Editor. This is good plugin to create and manage role, capacities.

Hope that helps.

Thanks.

Multisite Network.

I need plugin that will hide plugins and menu items from other superadmins so only one superadmin has access to specific areas.

Will this do the trick?

Hi, I think it’s not possible. The plugin works based on user role and if one superadmin has access, then all superamin have too.

Hello

How to enable options for the second for an administrator http://screencast.com/t/olxHaeb3E9cN

(they simply can not see)

Thank you

Hi uarichs,

You need to grant capacities for this user on there menu or on there items. Basically, the checkboxs display only with users have capacities with items on menu.

Hope that helps.

Thanks and Regards

This plugin works to hide items in the admin menu that were added by other plugins. Does it also work to show items added by other plugins to specific user roles? So for example: take a menu item from a plugin that is currently only visible to the user role “Admin” and make it accessible to the user role “Editor”?

Hi rajaman,

We haven’t tested with this case before. So it relate to the plugin authorize for roles that can access it or not. If role can access plugin I think you can do it.

Hope that helps.

Thanks.

Just bought your plugin, works perfectly. Here are some things that I would expect such plugin to accomplish too:

1. personalize which widgets are shows in the WP Dashboard for each user category;

2. remove the ‘required updates/updates available’ messages from the dashboard, so that the client is not informed of that.

Question: if you set the Dashboard to be hidden to Authors, after logging in they get a 404 error. Does your plugin allow to set a redirect url (i.e. to the Post page) when the dashboard is hidden?

Please advise.

Hi dario_hal,

First, we are very appreciate about your opinions, it always helps plugin better and we also always welcome it. Relating to the problem you said, at this time plugin doesn’t support feature redirect when Dashboard is hided. We will add this feature for plugin in next version.

Thanks.

Hi. We have just purchased your plugin. Very easy to setup but have a problem. The CONTACT FORM is ticked to disable from the AUTHOR ROLE yet still appears when logged in as the AUTHOR? How do we remove this from the menu?

Using standard plugin CONTACT FORM 7.

Thanks.

Hi,

This error seem raise from our plugin, maybe it is incompatible with new version plugin CONTACT FORM 7. So we will check that again and will notify for you later.

Thanks.

Hi, I have setup some Custom User Roles and they show up on your plugin, however I’m unable to control if they have access or not to my custom post types. Is there a setting I need to change for that?

Hi paperrobots,

You need make sure is your Custom User Roles have privilege access to menu in admin page, if it can so plugin will display checkboxes with it.

Hope that helps. Thanks

I love how quick & easy this plugin is. I did run into one obstacle though. There is no option to hide the Edit Page/Edit Post link that appears in the admin bar when a logged-in user views the site.

For example, I hid “Pages” in the Admin Menu for Editors. When I logged in as an Editor to test it, that option was hidden from the menu as expected, but I was still able to gain access to editing pages by viewing the site and clicking the “Edit Page” link in the Admin Bar.

Would it be possible to close that point of access?

I ended up suppressing the Edit links through the site css. It’d still be great to see that option added to plugin to save the extra step.

Hi jilladelphia,

This is a bug from our plugin and we will fix it soon. Thank you about had for us know about it.

Thanks and Regards.
