Thanks very much! I’m glad you like it :)

Hi,

When I was installing the plugin I met such problem:

Fatal Error (hide)

The theme has encountered a problem that it cannot recover from. Please use the following information to try to resolve the problem.

Error Code: php_code_error:64:/autoinstalator/wordpress2/wp-content/plugins/wp-uber-menu/wp-uber-menu.php:23:require_once() Failed opening required ‘wpMegaWalker.php’ (include_path=’.:/:/usr/local/php/pear5’) Message: A fatal code error occurred.

I found that the original file was: wpmegawalker.php, so I changed the file name on wpMegaWalker.php and then the plugin was installed, but it is not showing in the plugin tab in the admin area.

Could you help ?

Regards,

Hi Promyk,

Thanks for you purchase! Sorry that you having trouble. That’s a strange error that I’ve never seen before. The file name is actually wpMegaWalker.php (camel case like that) – not lower case, so that’s strange as well. Could you please contact me via my profile page? I’d be happy to take a look at your site and fix the problem.

Thanks,

Chris

Thank you Chris for help. This strange thing with the capital letters was made by my FTP , which had a default option active to change the file names on small letters. I am sorry for that.

Regards,

Hi Promyk,

No problem! Stranger things have happened :) I’m glad we got it worked out, thanks for reporting back!

Chris

Have purchased this plugin the other day, i had a couple of questions on the setup so sent chris an email and fast, helpful response had me up and running can not ask for any more

have now got a great menu for my custom wordpress install and can not praise chris enough great support so many thanks :-)

Regards, Sam

Thanks so much for the comment, Sam! It’s been a pleasure working with you. :)

Chris

Worked straight out of the box. Fantastic plug :-)

Thanks so much! Glad you like it :)

Chris,

Quick Question. Does this just install like a normal plugin and override the menu function, or do I have to configure additional .php to work?

Also, how does it effect the CSS on the menu style?

I would like to add it, but don’t want to get into deep .php if that can be avoided.

Just let me know.

Thanks,

Sam

Hi Sam,

UberMenu installs like a normal plugin – just upload and activate, then start configuring through the control panel. Assuming the theme you are using implements WordPress 3 Menu system functionality, there is no PHP editing required. You can check by going to Appearances > Menus and see if says something like “Your theme supports 1 menu. Select which menu you would like to use.” under Theme Locations.

As for the styling, the plugin’s style will override the theme’s style and completely replace the menu. You can choose from the 10 style presets or create your own via the Style Generator control panel (change colors and font sizes) or via your own custom css file (change any style).

Thanks for your interest – hope that helps!

Chris

hello, nice plug .. getting error The plugin does not have a valid header. error.

thanks

Hi Big-Gazoo,

Thanks for your comment. What version of WordPress are you using?

Also, make sure you unzip the file you downloaded and upload the wp-uber-menu folder to the wp-content/plugins directory. Be sure that you follow the installation directions here exactly: http://wpmegamenu.com/help/#MEGA-installation

If you’re still having trouble, I’ll be happy to take a look at it for you – just contact me via my profile page.

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks Chris. One final question: I’ve read through the manual but don’t see anything about changing the font. Is this possible ?

All font options (font family/face, size, color, etc) can be controlled with CSS (in some cases, the menu may automatically inherit the theme menu’s font – depending on how that theme was styled). You can either apply the styles via your theme’s CSS or by using the custom stylesheet option within UberMenu. It hasn’t been tested with Cufon or @font-face, but I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t be compatible with those, either.

I’ll write up an FAQ on this and add it to the online manual when I get a chance as well. Thanks for the question and your interest!

Chris

Since it says “fully widgetized” I imagine this can drop straight into a header widget area ?

Also, just how bad is the IE6 display ? A scrambled unusable mess, or just ugly ? I don’t care much about IE6 users but I still want it to be possible for them to click.

Hi Southland,

Actually, I can see how that would be confusing and I should probably clarify the description. “Fully Widgetized” means that you can drop widgets INTO the menu (via ubermenu widget areas – as opposed to putting the menu itself into a widget area). However, I think perhaps I will add that functionality in the future if possible to make it more flexible for users.

UberMenu is intended to work with the WordPress 3 Menu Management System, so you could apply it to any theme menu location, as listed in your Appearances > Menus admin page.

As for the IE6 display, it’s scrambled and ugly, and the format is completely wrong, but it’s usable (it seems to choke when handling widgets, though). Perhaps if I’m in a masochistic mood at some point I’ll see if I can write an IE6 specific style sheet to clean it up a bit. You can check it out in the live preview if you have a running copy of IE6 (I had to boot up an old machine just now just to check it ;) )

Thanks for your interest,

Chris

Looks great, could this be used as a widget menu independent of a themes built in menu?

Hi Pippin,

I’m not 100% sure I understand the question. Currently the menu needs to be placed in a registered menu “theme location”. The intended functionality is that it acts as the default menu for a theme (and overrides that theme’s menu styles) – but you could always add a second or third menu location if that’s what you’re looking for (with some PHP coding). Perhaps I will also add a function (either PHP or a shortcode) that will let you put the menu anywhere you’d like, if that would be helpful. Also, note that you can’t have more than one UberMenu on a page (though you could have one UberMenu and a separate regular menu).

Let me know if that answers your question – if not, if you can give me more details or a specific use case I might be able to answer better.

Thanks!

Chris

I am very interested in this but not for wordpress. A stand alone would be great

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll look into the stand alone option in the future.

Really nice. I look forward to playing with this.

Thanks for your interest and compliment, Benjamin!

Wonderful. I suggest a version for use outside of wordpress. Thank you

Thanks, equipexq! I’ll look into porting it to Drupal or another CMS in the future if there is interest. Or perhaps a stand-alone PHP script. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi sevenspark

Looks like really nice solid work. Will definitely bookmark this and check it out for one of our clients.

Have a nice weekend :)

Hi lawley,
