I spent my site in https … and Astero Weather no longer works: the system locates nothing at all now (but it’s ok …
HTTPS is only supported by Forcast.io. Please make sure you are using Forecast.io as your weather provider and that you have entered a valid API for Forecast.io in the settings.
thank you very much
I had not entered Forecast.io API Key… it’s ok now
we bought plugin and everything worked like a charm, BUT when we have changed the wenserver on https nothing works.
In the plugin settings we have changed Open weather map with Forecast.io (Supports Https) but nothing change.
May You help us to solve this issue?
Thank You very much for Your support
Please make sure you have a valid Forecast.io API saved under Settings > Astero.
YOU ARE SIMPLY G R E A T !!!! THX
Hi, love the plugin. However, is there any php code I can use inside my wordpress theme’s template files in order to output weather box? I really need this. Can’t find anything about this in documentation. Please help.
Yes there definitely is. After creating a weather post, click on Astero Weather > Astero Weather and you’ll see a column “Shortcode” in the list of weathers. You can add the weather box using the shortcode. E.g.
<?php echo do_shortcode("[astero id='123']"); ?>
I have purchased your plugin for use on a digital sign. I seem to be having trouble with the background colors and\or images not updating. I have tried a competitors product that has the switch of /?clear_awsome_widget
If I add this statement to the end of the url it works. This forces my digital sign to update and it works. But I like your plugin better and would like to use that instead. Do you have any thing that I can do to force a reload? I am using a BrightSign Player.
Do you have a live site I could look at? Thanks.
This is the weather I am seeing: http://i.imgur.com/wIZ1kOZ.png
What styles and color were you expecting to see?
The plugin saves the custom styles and colors in a separate stylesheet, so you may have to clear cache on your server or browser to see an update after any changes.
The problem is that when I use the weather background images, they will not update when the weather changes to another state. Such as from raining to clear skies. They will on a computer browser but not on my digital sign. I realize that I am trying to use this plugin for something it was not intended to do, but I think there is a cache issue here. Unfortunately I cannot force a refresh such as doing a CTRL + F5 on the digital sign. I need a way to have this happen automatically. As I stated earlier I found another plugin that allows me to enter a switch on the end of the url that forces a full refresh and then the pictures on that plugin will work. So I think the issue is similar with the astero plugin. I just wanted to know if I could modify something for it to work.
Hm, that shouldn’t happen at all. The weather results are cached for 1 hour, but if the weather conditions changes, the background image should update too because they are based on css and are not affected by caching.
Are you using custom images or the default images?
Can you enable the search function on your weather display so I can search other locations and see if the image updates?
Another note though, Forecast.io returns “day” and “night” for both clear and partly cloudy conditions.
This plugin displays the same night image for both “partly-cloudy-night” and “clear-night” condition, whereas it displays different images for “clear-day” and “partly-cloudy-day.”
If images are not updated for other weather conditions, e.g. clear to rain etc. Please let me know.
I just enabled the search feature and yes I am using the default images. I tried to search for another location and it did not show the current temperature. Maybe I am doing something wrong.
The search function requires a free Google map API for Forecast.io.
You can find instructions on the Settings > Astero page.
Having the search function will allow me to quickly see if the images are not updating. Thanks.
The api is not configured properly. Here is the error message:
It’s enabled as far as I can tell. Shows some blank analyticals on the page.
After waiting for a few hours I still see the same error in the browser console. This error is shown by Google, so it is probably detecting some problems with your credential.
For “Key restriction” setting for the API you may want to set it to “none” instead of HTTP referrers or other settings for temporary testing, because HTTP referrers can be a bit troublesome.
Ok changed key restrictions to none. In my dashboard it is showing traffic, errors, median latency and so forth. Just no data in it. I don’t see anything that looks wrong.
Using the search function now, the images seem to be updating correctly.
Can you post some screenshot examples of an incorrect weather condition and background image? Thanks.
I purchased your weather plug in to use on our new site after reading that it supports https. However, if you visit our site at the link below, you will see that it is not working (although it did work on our development domain, which was http). I have double-checked every setting, including that we are using forecast.io.
Please help – thanks!
Please ensure you have entered a valid Forecast.io API under Settings > Astero.
Hi, thank you, I did install your great plugin and it works perfectly , one more thing: It’s a kind of big can I reduce it ?
I’m glad it’s working for you.
The weather display will expand to the full width of its container because it’s responsive.
You can place it in a parent container that is less wide or use a set width. E.g.
yeah thx , by changing the fonts size I managed to reduce it’s size .
great app and works just fine !
1) Are the layouts restricted to what is shown on your demo page, or can i customize by picking and choose which elements I want to use and where and how I want to use them, to more seamlessly blend into my site’s design (if that makes sense)?
2) Can additional data points be added (sunrise, sunset, surf, ocean water temp, high-tide, low-tide, visibility, wind direction, moon-phases). My clients are hotels and travel tourism, and these are all very important.
1. The layouts are restricted as shown. If you are familiar with CSS you can probably manipulate the information a bit with css styles.
2. Unfortunately you will have to customize the plugin to add other weather data.
Ok, and thank you for the quick response.
Hello, just bought the plugin. Is it possible to add a source that could be openweathermap thru https://cors-anywhere.herokuapp.com to get the HTTPS working ?
Or use the yahoo API : https://developer.yahoo.com/weather/#php
I can only found a shortcode available once i’ve created a astero Weather.
There is no shortcode like [astero id=’287’] there is no simple shortcode [astero location=’Paris’] ???
To use it on an HTTPS site please switch to Forecast.io. Remember to enter a valid API under Settings > Astero.
I believe Yahoo weather API is not free for commercial use so I cannot include it with the plugin.
To find the shortcode, please select Astero Weather in the main Dashboard menu, then you can find it under the column “Shortcode” if you have created a weather display.
There is currently no simple shortcode like [astero location=’Paris’].
