Hey, so with fullCal you can not switch views, you can have fullCal load events > click on them and then go to single events page.

But single events page does not have sorting options. If you think about it why would single events page need sorting option for just one event.

And You can activate upto 5 of the categories and have those visible for sorting under sort options. http://www.myeventon.com/documentation/frequently-asked-questions/ #23

Thanks for the reply. I have added Event types under Categories and under “Event filtering options to show on the calendar” I have the event categories marked per the instructions. It does not work. Do I need to do anything to the short code? I have also tried that but to that did not help.

ok so event lists calendar that comes with the basic calendar does not have the sort options section you would need the event lists extended addon to have sorting and show events regardless of the month

I opened up a new chat because after doing the update the Events are not opening up. I took out what I added yesterday to see if that helped : [add_eventon_el] and it did not.

After the update, if I open site as admin and click on Event Tab, I have my Ubermenu saying this:

And giving then I have Java Script warning. I only get this when I go to Events. Here are some of the errors:

Hi- We have debug and it did not help. We remove the short code for EventOn and Java errors go away. Add short code back and the errors reappear. Also, even with the Ext Add on it still does not show the sort options and of course the events do not open since the update. I need to get this fixed ASAP. What are next steps. Thxs.

i really cant do much unless you can get rid of those errors. The reason you cant click on events is because of these errors. Seems like they are caused by some scripts added to the page itself.

And what is the shortcode you are using for event list that is not showing sort options

Hi Ashan – I have already provided the short codes several times. Let me re-write this and perhaps this will help clear up what is going on and we can get things cleared up.

1. Before I did the upgrade EVERYTHING work wonderfully well. I love how EventOn looks and works.

2. This is the short code I was using when everything worked: [add_eventon_list number_of_months=”13” month_incre=”0” cal_id=”1” show_year=”yes” accord=”yes” event_type=”3”]

2. Then I did the upgrade and purchased the EXT add on. I entered this short code to the end of the above short code: [add_eventon_el] If you read up to 3 days ago you will see that you verified with me that this was the correct short code for the EXT add on.

3. Same day I did the upgrade that you sent out, I started getting a ton of java script errors and saw the events would not open.

4. When I completely remove short code for EventOn the java script errors go away. I add the short code with and without the EXT add on short code back to page and I get the java errors and the events of course still do not open.

5. I did the debug per your instructions and still have the errors.

6. I have tested this in the WP basic theme to see if this had anything to do with the theme. I have the same errors there so that tells me that this does not have anything to do with the upgrade you sent out my AND theme not playing nice.

Based on the above, unless you know something I don’t, this tells me that the EventOn update messed things up since I don’t have any java errors when I totally remove the shot code.

7. I just did the update you sent through and I still have same issues, plus I now have this message from EXT Add on : An error occurred while updating EventON – Event Lists: The package could not be installed. The package contains no files.

I really like your plugin, but the two times that you have done updates, since I have purchased, have been really painful for the end user.

Did you notice the 19 errors on your site that are NOT eventon related?

I did. But in my note above you can see that there are no errors at all once the EventOn short codes are totally removed. All 33 errors go away. Are you saying that this is purely coincident? That your update is not causing any of the issues?

soulaspire, Are you able to give us wp-admin access so we can assess the situation and see when/why the errors are caused?

Hi Mike – Wanted to check in to see what you have found out. If I do a manual update for EventOn, what happens to all the data I have entered? Can it be over written? How is it saved? Can I first export the data to Excel so it is backed up in case something happens to the data in the update? I saw with the Add On you can pull data in, but not sure if I can use it to export data out. Thanks

FYI – I still can’t get the EXT add on to install. I just went to update to the new release and get same error: An error occurred while updating EventON – Event Lists: The package could not be installed. The package contains no files.

Additionally, I have:

1. Deactivated both Uber menu and DVS Video Gallery, then re-updated WP and then checked to see if EventOn would work. It still will not open up the event or do anything else.

2. Checked with the creator of my theme and asked them if the errors had anything to do with the theme and Eventon not playing nice since the update. They wrote back and said no.

Can you please advise me if I deactivate and re-install if I will lose all of my events?

It has now been a week that I have not been able to work on this so I am hoping to get some direction on what I need to do ASAP. Thanks.

how were you trying to download the EXT addon? is it through myeventon website?

I have tried it from your website and from within WP update program section.

is it safe to deactivate EventOn plugin and then re install it? What happens to all of my data that I have keyed in?

The EXT addon is the least of my concerns at this time since I can’t get anything to work.

Did Mike have a chance to look at it and does he have any thoughts?

if you delete eventon then it will delete all your saved settings, are you having trouble with eventon as well? and mike said he never received anything from you. where did you send the info?

Ashan – not sure how to communicate this to you any clearer. I have said repeatedly that EventOn is NOT working at all. The events will not open up. This has been going on since the upgrade. I have provide you with the short codes and my site info several times. Also I did send Mike my info by clicking on his name and emailing him. I then let him know in the posts above that I did this.

What else can I possible do? Are you not able to read up in my posts? How should I send Mike my info? I am not going to post log in and PW here in chat. If you read up to 4 days ago you will see that I told him: “Hi again – I just clicked on gambinog and sent you an email. Thank-you so much! “

To verify – how is my data being stored? Will I loose the data? I can re-do the settings but how would it affect my data if I try to re-install? I have spent hours adding info and I can’t afford to lose it.

Please read my posts starting 8 days ago. In them you will see all of the steps I have taken on my own and all the attempts I have made to try and receive help from you.

I think after you have read my posts you will be able to see why I have now reached a point of frustration. I do not want to keep chasing my tail on this. I don’t want to get a different plugin because of the hours I have put into this, but if it can’t be made to work I will have no choice.

And to answer your question, the only time you will lose eventon settings is if you delete the plugin. Events and event data is stored in your wordpress database and those will not be deleted unless you delete it from database or delete the events.

that is very strange. what RSVP version are you running? and where does it ask for updates on all plugins page?

I am running 1.1 and on the plugins page, I constantly see RSVP Events turn red and ask for a update. In some cases, I click automatic update, although the message says that the update package is empty (should be saying something in this respect, I am using WP Turkish) when I go back to plugins page, everything is back to normal (blue-active) Few days later, the red plugin with update request reappears.

I have tried to completely erase it and reinstall. Same result.

does not work, i tested it now.

we use the costum permalink plugin, maybe depends on it? but we did not change the url’s of the events.
