Here is my update as I have been tinkering with it: I can get images through the gallery that will show up. However, even though I have the thumbnail 150×150 selected in ecards, that is not how they are displaying on the webpage. You can see how it looks at the same link as above.
Hello. So, nothing changes when you switch from thumbnail to large to medium? Contact me via email with you WordPress admin credentials so I can take a look.
No, no change when I switch. Don’t know where your email is, will send you through the form
Solved via email.
1. Does this create a unique page/URL for every user that is emailed to the user and the person the receives the ecard?
2. Is it possible to add a upload Video function? And add video to server or add a youtube/vimeo video?
1. No.
2. No.
I have similar problem like drpudding.
- I have to insert picture to the post to makes the picture shown. Your help information said that we only have to upload new image. If I’m not inserting the picture, no picture was shown.
- I get big size picture to select, full size picture (on firefox) and medium size picture (on chrome), not the thumbnails.
- How to activate language file? I already upload necessary file and edit wp_config.
Thank you.
Please contact me via email with you WordPress admin credentials so I can take a look.
Thank you for your help..
You are welcome!
I am using WordPress 3.9 and just purchased your plugin. It sounds like you have yet to release a 3.9 version. Do you have an ETA on that? Also—I notice that the version I just purchased does not have the same interface as the one you are showing in your support screenshots, so I am struggling with a few items.
- I don’t see any place to change the email FROM details, which I understand should no longer require any additional email plugins.
- I see no place where the ecard email can be previewed (not a big deal)
- I understand that I should only Add Media to my page, which populates the gallery. But unless I insert the image to the page, I can’t see any of the images I am currently using in edit mode. I only have [ecard] on my page. I’m not a big WP user, so could be something simple.
- despite that I have thumbnails (150×150) selected, I am still getting full size images in the gallery
- when using the “Click to see eCard” in an email, I am correctly viewing the image, but not any of the message text. Is this by design?
Sorry for all of the questions, but the documentation is a little thin.
Thanks!
Hello @drpudding. A new version will be released today, although the latest version is compatible with 3.9. Indeed, the screenshots are a bit old, I will replace them.
1. Read the help section on the plugin’s dashboard, you do need to use a third-party plugin, such as the ones recommended.
2. There is no preview. You can send an eCard to yourself and see how it looks.
3. You cannot see images in Edit mode. The plugin extracts them automatically and displays them as a list of floated images.
4. This should work. Did you change the thumbnail size from WordPress -> Media recently?
5. The message text only appears in the email. Because the eCards are simple images, not custom posts, you don’t see the text. The message text is optional anyway, as the eCard should contain all the required info (such as a nice landscape postcard with a “Happy Anniversary” text on it).
Contact me via email (maybe send me your WordPress admin details) and I’ll take a look at your site.
Thanks for the quick reply! I’m good on all points. A few other quick questions.
- In your demo screenshots you show how one can add a “You have received an eCard from [Sender’s name]” line in the email. That feature no longer appears in the Settings. Is there any way to do something like this? I think that lets the receiver know this is not SPAM. I see you append the sender name at the bottom, but I’d like to use elsewhere, if possible.
- Any reason why I can’t send from a no-reply address, or is this ill-advised?
- As this is a form POST, I’d just like to be sure you have taken security precautions (e.g. to prevent injections).
OK.
1. I have removed that option and only kept “You have received an eCard!” as the sender’s name appeared in the name section.
2. No reason. I have set up a noreply@getbutterfly.com email address and I’m using that one on my site. If you check the demo, you will see it works and it doesn’t end up in Spam (it doesn’t for me).
3. Yes, I am using WordPress-based functions to sanitize the input.
re: 1—so there is no code I can use to display the sender name in the mail in any place that I’d like? Just double-checking.
A couple more issues I’ve noticed. Thanks for your patience.
- It appears that the last ecard image is checked by default. I would prefer that no image is pre-checked when arriving. Is that possible? And if no image is checked, is there validation to make sure an image is checked?
- I am using the feature to allow users to upload their own image, but the image appears at the very bottom of the email, not in the same place that the normal image appears (just after the sender’s message).
There is no code, except for the sender field.
1. It’s not possible, because they are radioboxes, and one of them needs to be checked.
2. I can change that in the next version.
I do concur it is the W3C standard that one radio button be checked, but that creates an issue. If a user chooses to allow senders to upload their own images, they can only do so while also sending one of the other images, since one is forced to be checked. So both images are sent. There doesn’t appear to be a way to just send your own uploaded image, unless no other images are provided.
You are definitely right, although my initial intention was to provide either preset eCards or uploaded images. Never tried it myself, so it’s not OK it’s sending 2 images. I’ll check and release an updated version. Don’t know how I’ll approach it, but I’ll work on it during the weekend.
Thanks, since I’m wanting to release this 3/1. Although I can probably release without uploads. In terms of implementation, I think it’s safe to assume that when someone wants to upload/Dropbox an image, it is in place of any provided images. If you aren’t needing to honor sending both an upload & a provided image, that simplifies things. (Defer to upload/Dropbox in conditions and change the UI to clarify it’s one or the other.)
Thanks!
Work in progress. An update will be released today.
Hi, All my photos are showing up as the whole photo and not as a thumbnail. I have thumbnails checked and saved at 150 by 150 and it does no good. What should I do to fix this? Thanks in advance.
Hmm, it doesnt seem to want to email either. The page it is on is http://brickyardpeds.com/ecards
Hi @drman. You need to select the size of your eCards. Select thumbnail inside your plugin’s options. Second, your eCard worked for me but landed in Spam folder. You should check the help section on the plugin’s dashboard.
Hi, It is sized in the app and nothing changes. I did this before the e-mail was sent to you. I also fixed the email by using another plugin. Thanks for your reply. I just need to get the photos smaller.
Could you contact me via email and provide the WordPress credentials? I’m about to release a new version (nothing fancy, just WordPress 3.9 compatibility) and if there’s something wrong, I might fix it beforehand.
Awesome that you guys KEEP working and updating the wp plugin! For everybody doubting to buy: AWESOME E-CARD PLUGIN. No comparison to any other plugin…
M
Thank you, @M. More updates are yet to come.
Hi
How can I disable the href from images?
When i click on a ecard opens in a new tab i dont want it
THANKS
No, you cannot. It shouldn’t open in a new tab, there’s something wrong with your theme. The images open in order to have a complete view, as thumbnails are usually cropped.
Try to install a lightbox plugin.
Hi I seem to be missing something here. My images don’t get the selection button or toggle. I inserted the imaged like this:
See example page here. http://www.wildatpalmas.com/puerto-rico-nature-photography-send-free-e-card/Not sure what you mean when you state… “files should be uploaded directly to the post or page, not from Media Library”
thanks
Please disregard I think I figured it out.
Great! Cheers! Don’t forget to rate the plugin.
Hello … really excited about this. Thanks for this plugin!
I have an online cartoon (daily) that I am currently transitioning to a new theme (that is why most of it is not showing up right now) http://www.littlehunterman.comJust changed the theme to GraphPaperPress’ Lookbook and am trying to fix the quirks. I want to use the eCards as a promotional tool and my original idea was to give the readers the option to send each day’s cartoon as an eCard.
Yet, the blogposts contain not only an image, but also different amounts of text. And a comment section that will become more relevant, soon. So adding the eCard form on top of it all would be way too much and confusing.
1. The idea was to add a little button “send as eCard” beneath the image, which would lead to a clean eCard form (without the text from the post and without the comment section). Would that mean that I would need to make a separate 2nd page for each and every post, containing only the image and the form, or would there be a more economical way of going at this?
2. The Lookbook theme relies on featured images and the tumbnails are extremely large (640 width, variable height, not cropped). It looks great in their featured-image-mosaic on the homepage, because the cartoon images come in wildly different sizes.
But it looked a mess when I tried to use it for a handful of eCards image options. There is no way to make that show up as a mosaic too, right? Any advice?
Thanks in advance for your time
You cannot combine the theme’s features with the plugin’s features. You can add 100 images to a post and the plugin will add checkboxes and the eCard form to it. No need to create separate pages. But the images won’t appear as a mosaic inside the eCard page.
There’s a bit of a mess there. Try to remove the [code] tags from your shortcode. Try to set up a diferrent thumbnail size (such as medium or large) for your eCards.
Just “ecard” instead of “[ecard]”? Would the plugin still work? Am I misunderstanding? Sorry, I am no programmer …
No, [ecard] is OK, but you have (in HTML/text view) [ecard]< /code > – delete that.
Moreover, I just noticed on your site, try to activate the Metro (Light) theme.
I tried this now in the functions.php – because I am not using the medium size setting anywhere else anyway: And assigned medium size in the plugin-settings.
update_option( 'medium_size_w', 200, true );
update_option( 'medium_size_h', '200', true );
update_option( 'medium_size_crop', true );
Looks much better. How do I get it to fill the row instead of having a line break after each card preview?
Good, good. Activate the Metro (Light) theme and you’ll be all set.
Strange … I did not add < /code > etc. It did that by itself. I deleted it now.
My theme is called Lookbook. Not Metro Light…
So, first of all, the < /code > was added when you copied the shortcode into your page.
Second, Metro (Light) is the name of the eCard theme (go to plugin Settings -> Use Metro (Light) Style.
aha! Ok, I did it. But now it looks quite a mess again – only in small. And the from is gone.
Swicth to using thumbnails (where you have “medium” now). Try activating the other styles. The form is not gone, it’s just the same colour. Unfortunate coincidence.
Got it with the form (vintage style). But my theme’s thumbnail settings are now clashing again – it looks like when we first started, before I redefined and assigned the medium size.
Seems like your theme deactivates the standard thumbnail size (150×150). I’ve never seen a theme doing this and it’s a bad, bad thing. Could you take a look at your Settings -> Media page and see the thumbnail properties?
I could fix it for you with some CSS code, but some of the images might look stretched or distorted.
The media properties are Width 640, Height 0 and no cropping. That’s apparently the setting needed for the theme’s mosaic … I can change it in the functions.php, just as I did with the medium size, but it would destroy the look & feel of the mosaic – which is one of the main features.
That is why I redefined and assigned the medium size. Looked ok, did it not? But for the fact that it showed up in a single column.
no … the cropping is not working. Did not notice the different heights in the column.
Hmmm, I’m not sure about this theme’s behaviour. No theme should mess with default WordPress settings especially since LOTS of plugins depend on thumbnails. Give me a day and I’ll implement a customized thumbnail size and add it to the plugin. I’ll release an updated version (2.4.1) on Monday (or Sunday evening).
The themes make the eCards float, so they can be positioned in rows. Without floating, there’s nothing you can do because there are 2 elements in there (the image and the radiobox). Wait for the new version, it will work perfect with your theme.
Actually, could you contact me via email and send me your WordPress credentials? I may be able to whip something up.
So either I make specific images with all the same sizes to avoid the mess or no ecards for me, right?
Ohhh.. I did not see your responses here. A new version because of this? Wow! Thanks. Way cool!
I usually release new versions based on user feedback and needs. You definitely need a custom thumbnail size due to a (poorly designed) theme. No offense to the theme developer, it looks great, but the decision to mess with the thumbnail size was a bad one.
Lookbook is a new theme, they are still bugfixing.
I’ll try to send them a quick suggestion regarding this. They should add their own thumbnail option, just like I’ll do for my plugin (in version 2.4.1).
Hello, My requirements is: 1. Ecard/Post card. 2. If user does not wants to use the existing images he can upload his own for ecard. 3. Approval from admin. 4. Admin should be able to download the ECard and print.
Which wordpress plugin to go with?
Please help.
You commented on eCards, so go with that one.
Thanks for the reply. What about Approval from admin & Admin should be able to download the ECard and print ?
Admin must approve all the posts before its been sent.
The user can only upload an image and send it. The admin is not involved in anything. The admin does not have anything to approve.
pre buy question
I need a wordpress plugin for a benefic association
the visitors can send a virtual postacard (1$ paypal donation)
Can I use this plugin? It has a paypal payment system before sending the postcard? THANKS!
You can activate the PayPal module and it will have a payment gateway before sending the card.
great ! the demo preview has te paypal function active for test it? THANKS
No, users won’t pay for a demo. Do you want me to set one up for you with a 0.01EUR?
dont worry thanks is not neccesary
No problem.
Hello,
I can’t get the plugin to send the ecards, I’ve just contacted my host who has asked what the minimum server requirements are for the plugin?
Many thanks, Veronica
There are no minimum requirements. You only need PHP 5+, MySQL 5+ and mail() function, which comes by default on all servers.
Did you try the SPAM/junk folder?
Thank you I have told them that, yes I’ve tried three times to different addresses and nothing in the junk folder.
OK, what did they say?
Hi, they have just said this, I’m a bit baffled…
“Please note that any form e.g. ecards on a Fasthosts-hosted website that would send data to an email address would need to use a Fasthosts-hosted email address.
The plugin needs to send the user inputs from your website to an email adress that’s hosted with us, otherwise it won’t work.
I don’t see any mailbox setup on veronicadearly.com so I suppose you might be using a different email address?
Thanks again for contacting us.”
I use an @veronicadearly.com email address so I don’t know what they are talking about really. I’m lost now!
I don’t know what your setup is, so you should definitely check things up with your host.
Hi. Bought your plugin, activated it in a fresh installment of wordpress 3.8.1. Everything looks good but the plugin does not send any email. What could be wrong?
Did you check your spam/junk folder? Sometimes mails end up there. If not, try contacting your hosting server, there may be some clues in the server log.
Mail is not in the junk. If an ecard is sent the “your card has been sent successfully” appears. Yet my service provider says: “I can’t find anything in the logs to indicate that there is any attempt to send from the wordpress, but since I’m not sure what e-mail its sending from i can’t be sure that there is no attempt at all
I’ve checked the system e-mail and the wordpress e-mail as well as a search by domain and haven’t see anything indicating that the script is sending
and usually a plugin requires some kind of SMTP set up to work”
Do I need to set up some sending email option somewhere to make this work?
The plugin works by default with not SMTP settings.
Try to add an address and a name to the FROM section of the plugin.
I did, no mail goes through.
Try to add an address that exists on your server.
I have, no help.
I am testing my plugin on my dev server and I am trying to capture all requests to the server and see how the actual sending works. I will try to add some checks in the next version.
So you mean this plugin does not actually work properly now? Wasted a whole day so far to sort this out…
The plugin works perfectly for 99% of the users. The other 1% have misconfigured servers or missing mail functions, and they should either change hosts or upgrade hosting plan.
In your case, I think there’s a server issue. I am working on adding checks, so that users can check in the backend if all steps are properly configured. I will also add a “Test eCard” feature, where you can send an email to yourself from the backend and check if everything is working. I should have an update this weekend.
I am trying to solve every little issue you have.
Could you try the free plugin Contact Form 7 and let me know if it works?
Cheers!
My service provider is Bluehost and Contact Form 7 works perfectly. Please let me know if you get this solved. I should get this working asap.
You will get an update notification. Thank you for the details.
Thank you Ciprian, I’ve already tested this plugin and it worked ok. Now for a new project, a new upgrade. Have fun & b creative. Best regards Dan N
Thank you, Dan! Don’t forget to rate it!
I bought the plugin a week ago, do I really have to repurchase in-order to get the upgrade that will allow PayPal to work? Right now the user can choose to send for free or click on the PayPal button. That does not make sense.
Also, I would like to use my own email as the sender email. How can I deactivate the required ‘your-email field’ and add my company email address. Thank you for replying, Heidi
Hello Heidi, you don’t need to repurchase it. Just go to the Downloads tab in your CodeCanyon account and you can download it from there.
Also, there is FROM option in the plugin’s settings. Set up your email there.
I am not recieving ecards? I have runa few tests and nothing is coming through.
Suggestions?
Check the spam email or try another domain, maybe the current one is blacklisted. Also, contact your host and ask about email error logs.
Hi. I have purchased this, and am being made to feel stupid because I cannot get any images to show up. I can see a previous question and your limited instructions:
Click the “Add Media” button, upload 1, 2, 3 or 10 images, then publish the post/page.
So what do you do with the image dialogue box, just close it? If you do not click “Insert in to post” then you have to click the cross to close it. When this is done and I publish the post nothing happens, no images. If I insert the photos they are just displayed as a normal photo in a post.
I am amazed that the instructions (here, in the plugin and your website) are not clearer on this essential part of the plugin. Everything else is so well done and works like a treat, but I cannot get the images to show.
Please, please provide clearer instructions.
Thanks
These are the only instructions you need. After you add the images, yes, just click the cross to close the window, do not insert them. It is really that simple.
I can’t help you unless I see the site myself, and maybe access the backend. Stupid question on my part, but did you insert the [ecard] shortcode?
Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me. The URL:
http://www.tibetrelieffund.co.uk/tibet-relief-fund-ecards/Yes, I have the [ecard] code and emails are sent, just there are no images to select.
IMG 1 http://www.tibetrelieffund.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/attached.png
Images are “attached” to the page, not not displayed.
IMG 2 http://www.tibetrelieffund.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/gall_cross.png bottom left shows three images selected, and then I should just click the cross (top right)?
I am not sure why there is a problem.
OK, could you contact me via email and provide me with the WordPress admin details? Or create a new admin user and send the details to my email address? I usually do this for users, as I don’t know what the issue is.
It usually is a conflict with the theme, or another plugin, or the shortcode filter gets overridden.
Hopefully you have received the info you need. Thanks.
Yes, I have. I see you are using WordPress 3.5. Could you update to the latest version?
ok. it has been updated. Still doesn’t work.
OK, it works now. The update was necessary, anyway.
You had a disabled option. On eCards -> Settings -> Disable all images. It is now fixed.
Also, fixed the floating issue (all images were displayed in a row). Cheers!
ah ok. Yup seems to be working now. Many thanks for your time and help.
You are welcome! Don’t forget to rate the plugin! Cheers!
Hy what is about the wordpress Responsive Lightbox ? is it possible ? Thanks Achim
What about it? Try it, it’s free.
Thank you for the new update butterflymedia, Keep up the good work. Best Ecard plugin for Wordpress.
Thank you very much!
Version 2.3.1 brings Flash (SWF) cards!
Use [fcard] shortcode to create a SWF Flash card in your post or page.
