Is there a screenshot for the admin panel showing how to use this with CPTs?
What are CPTs?
http://justifiedgrid.com/settings/Sorry if this is a repeat question. What I want to do is have one JIG display different portfolios/projects and have the projects filterable by category. So there would be one page with a grid and each mage in the grid represents a different project with multiple images. When you click on the image, a lightbox pops up to display the slideshow of images from that project. I want the projects to be filterable by category. Is this possible?
Clicking a thumbnail an opening its own set of images in the lightbox is possible with nextgen but you can’t yet filter a nextgen album view on the frontend, only the gallery contents.
If you are fine with each project linking to a new page, then you can use filtering and you don’t need to use NextGEN. But the project pictures won’t cycle through the lightbox they’ll be on their own page. You can use the JIG Link field for that in the WP images’ metadata fields (where you set up their title).
Alternatively you can set it up using recent posts, open one single image for each project’s page/post (their featured) and put a link in the lightbox automatically to take the visitor to the actual project page.
Hi, I need to add some social sharing buttons to the bottom of the Colorbox modal to the right of where it says Image X of X.
I cant figure out where I would add this, can you point me in the right direction?
Site is: http://jsp.snewsite.com/blog/
Thanks
It would be a customization to colorbox and it’s not supported sorry as it’s not a feature. Colorbox also doesn’t have any deeplinking so you wouldn’t be able to share individual images anyway. You can easily have social sharers if you use prettyPhoto.
Love the functionality, especially the ‘nextGen Gallery’ compatibility.
A few questions though… Would it be possible (in one of the next updates) to have a layout, where pictures are filling, for instance, two rows? Similar to either http://www.kriesi.at/themes/enfold/shortcodes/masonry-gallery/ or http://themes.themegoods.com/titan_wp/?page_id=591Btw. the zoom hover effect in the examples above is also very nice… (is this possible too?!)
Thanks in advance…
The zoom could be possible but is not planned at the moment. The layouts there are completely different from what JIG has and would likely be a scope of another plugin. It’s a different style (pinterest or random grid). For now JIG is based on rows, not columns.
Thanks I’m glad you like it.
I am loving the galleries I am building with this plug-in! Now I have some questions.
1. I played around with the various presets when I first got the plugin and got things looking the way I wanted them to look. Then I made all my galleries. Now I don’t remember what preset I used as a base. Is there a way to tell what preset I build my galleries on?
2. I am using the same gallery style for all my photos but some of them show up with Thumbnails as you flip through the photos and some don’t. I don’t want the thumbnails to show as they cover up some of the photos. The shortcode I am using is the same on all of them so I don’t know what I am doing wrong.
Example (when you click on the pictures to go through the gallery)
This gallery has thumbnails covering some of the photos. http://melvinpractice.com/gallery-of-garden-critters/ This gallery does not. http://melvinpractice.com/hummingbirds-in-flight/3. After you have clicked a page for a gallery, the url changes and adds #!prettyPhoto to the end of it. Is there a way to stop that?
Thank you again for your assistance. Susan
1. No, but if you show me the site perhaps I can tell. If you started off with a shortcode and used a preset attribute in it, then you can tell which preset it was.
2. Do you mean inside the lightbox? There is an overlay_gallery setting in the lightboxes tab, prettyPhoto JS setting that need to be false.
overlay_gallery: false,
If it IS false then your theme is calling prettyPhoto with that setting on true and JIG can’t take over that. You’d need to disable the other instance of prettyPhoto in the site.
That’s why you don’t see the thumbnails when you open the lightbox via a deepllink URL: http://melvinpractice.com/gallery-of-garden-critters/#!prettyPhoto[1]/http://melvinpractice.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Critter-0147.jpg because in this case JIG activates and opens the lightbox with its settings.
So you most likely have another prettyPhoto activation call in your site, with that setting set to true (or it is the default anyway).
3. Yes, lightboxes tab, prettyPhoto section, it’s called deeplinking and you can disable that.
Hi Firsh, Thanks so much for the quick reply!
Re #2 Yes, overlay_gallery: false.
I have no idea where else PrettyPhoto might be called out in the site so I’m not sure what’s going on there. For now I just disabled the deeplinking since I’m not that sure what deeplinking is and if I even need it.
Regarding question #1
Right now it is a test site – melvinpractice.com If you need a photo gallery to check, here’s one: http://melvinpractice.com/hummingbirds-in-flight/
I would just like to know what preset I applied to start with so I can go back and compare.
Thanks.
For #1 That no longer resemples any preset, it’s likely you have changed all settings of that preset since then. Presets only have like 5-10 settings changed in them.
Your theme is Avada, there is a setting somewhere to disable the lightbox. PrettyPhoto comes from that. It’s weird because I use avada too and JIG was developed on the Avada theme and it successfully took over its lightbox.
Thank you! I’m good to go then.
Great!
Hello friend, which is worthwhile to bother you again. my hosting provider to update the service and I think that you block your plugin. It would be possible if I repidieras that I do or I can forward the mail of the solution that we gave him the last time http://sabanaurbana.com.co/asi-se-vivio-el-car-audio-en-monteria/
you will remember that we had a conflict with jetpack and this error. you gave me a solution that has had to do with permissions of the hosting.
””””””””””””””””””””””” All of the images have failed to load.
This is most likely a TimThumb permissions error.
Go to the Justified Image Grid settings, TimThumb & CDN tab. Click check permissions then click 0755 or 0777 to see if that works (or do it manually on the files and folders it lists there in case chmod fails).
Also read the troubleshooting guide in the documentation on what else to do.
Tip: Install the official WP plugin ‘Jetpack’ by Automattic and enable ‘Photon’. Jetpack enables you to connect your blog to a WordPress.com account to use the powerful features normally only available to WordPress.com users. It’s an excellent TimThumb alternative and will make your images load faster. Note that you won’t be able to use special effects due to cross-domain security limitations. It’ll also make Justified Image Grid high resolution display or Retina ready by devicepx.js! Read more at: jetpack.me
Another possibility is that you are using W3 Total Cache to minify JS – turn that feature off. ””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””“
If it’s hostgator see the hostgator specific instuctions in the manual, make a search for the word hostgator.
nice
“Also uses custom post types”. I tried to find the settings for this in setting images. Do you mean the shortcode for a gallery shows up on the CPT pg or that this will show CPT’s on a grid (like products) ? If so, will does it work with woo’s framework. Does it paginate? Can it be set to show two columns in mobile vertical view ?
Is the gird on your homepage with the green icon titles an example of the plugin ?
Custom post types is for the Recent posts feature it support everything as long as it has a featured image.
What is CPT pg or CPT? I don’t know. But shop plugins’ products can be shown yes like woocommerce.
No pagination only load more with ot without infinite scroll. But no 1 2 3 4 Next.
Sorry no columns it’s strictly rows but you can set it up with different row heights on mobiles, essentially resulting in about 1 or 2 images per row. Since the images can have an irregular shape in the grid there is no such thing as columns. I have plans to add an x image per row setting though.
No the green tiles you mean the feature highlight with icons? No that’s Avada theme’s content boxes. An example would be: http://justifiedgrid.com/preset-1-out-of-the-box/ Every example has images as the grid can only display images or animated gifs.
How do I display the magnifying glass icon on hover by default? I currently have the option set to “on: display the icon” under Overlay icon on top of thumbnails, however when I hover it goes away. I would like the opposite to occur, hovering results in the icon showing up.
Disregard, I figured it out!
Good!
Hi, still having problems with this plugin. When activated, editors get white pages in all custom post areas and ‘Pages’. Under ‘Posts’ only the first entry is listed. If I login as administrator it works. Error console show only a warning:

Found myself the solution. I post it here just in case others get the same error. If you are using any plugin or custom function calling the get_currentuserinfo(), then you should load the pluggable.php BEFORE calling it. Something like:
if ( !function_exists('wp_get_current_user') ) {
function wp_get_current_user() {
// Insert pluggable.php before calling get_currentuserinfo()
require (ABSPATH . WPINC . '/pluggable.php');
global $current_user;
get_currentuserinfo();
return $current_user;
}
}
Now is working perfectly.! Thanks
That error is unrelated that’s a common custom font error. JIG doesn’t have custom fonts at all. Make sure you have updated to v1.7.2! If you have that and the problem still persists, you could be running low on available memory on your hosting. Otherwise go to wp-config.php and set wp_debug from false to true. You’ll see a proper php error instead of the whiteness most likely and I can tell you more.
Do I need to change something in JIG? I’m not using that function.
No, JIG is ok! This error was in another custom plugin, but we never noticed until we activated JIG and switched to another role as admin.
I can’t tell you why your plugin shows incompatibility with this error, while others plugin didn’t, but it wasn’t definitely a JIG error
Thanks
Best
JIG only checks for current user rights so it is not available when you don’t have access. And also admin stuff only loads when you are the admin and you are logged in. Also it has a feature of removing the shortcode editor for certain user classes.
I am trying to use your plugin with Social Gallery. I have been using your plugin on my site for a long time, however, I was using it with Foobox. I am trying to set up the site now to use JIG along with the social gallery lightbox.
I am able to see the JIG galleries in my posts, but when I click on an image, the social gallery lightbox appears with the photo but after a second or two the image disappears and the lightbox just has a large black box where the image use to be.
I just installed Next Gen and tried using Social Gallery with that to see if it did the same thing and the images are not disappearing. Do you know what could be causing the images to disappear? I would much rather use JIG than next gen!
Thanks, Steve G
Please contact epicplugins, the dev of socialgallery as this seems unrelated to JIG, if it also happens with only NG+SG. I don’t know what could cause the image disappearing sorry.
Hi Firsh,
I’ve just added a Justified Image Grid gallery to my site. It displays as expected but just below the WP gallery displays too.
Another issue concerns Photoswipe. I really like it’s UX. On desktop, however, most images display in really bad quality. Do you have any idea how this can be adjusted?
Thanks, Patrick
Yup
imageScaleMethod: “fitNoUpscale”,
change this line of the Photoswipe JS settings setting on the lightboxes tab of JIG global settings.
Hi,
I love the way your plugin looks and installed it yesterday. However, now my site does not appear properly on mobile devices. The site is www.whimsicalphotos.com. If you look at it on a computer browser, you can see the top background image is tiled horizontally across the top to create a seamless top. Now look at it on a mobile device, and the top background image no longer tiles. You only see the top left corner of it. Is there a setting I can change to fix this? I’m using a ProPhoto Blog theme for the site, if that helps. Thanks.
Hi. Why do you think that issue is caused by JIG? The only thing I could think of is if you turned on “Load more infinite scroll device fix” on the Load More tab in JIG settings. I don’t think anything else can influence the site by this much.
It worked fine until I installed and activated JIG. If I deactivate JIG and refresh the cache, it works perfectly again. I’ll try turning off the “Load more infinite scroll device fix.” It’s weird how it affected that. For some reason it has stopped allowing the top background image to tile horizontally
So did turning that off solve it?
Genius! It worked. Thanks
Is there a way to display more than 25 items from a pinterest board? Can’t seem to get it to display the Load More button or to get the infinite scroll to work
Since pinterest is displayed via an RSS feed, the number of items in the feed determines how many you see. So I think there is no way to increase that as it’s set by pinterest. It’s most suitable for a ‘most recent’ pins gallery.
Would this plugin work with a personal facebook profile?
thanks
Yes!
Hi Firsh,
Great plugin… Is there a way to set the number of columns per row?
No but if you set up a fixed aspect ratio using the aspect ratio setting you’ll have something that looks like columns. If you play with fixed with for the entire grid, aspect ratio, and row height settings you can achieve a look that is not reponsive and essentially has a fixed number of images per row.
Are you looking for something like the current irregular style that allows images to be in their original aspect ratio, but rather than specifying row height and deviation you’d rather specify the number of images per row? In the end that wouldn’t result in a columns look (regular grids).
Well I suppose what I meant by columns in this regards was max number of images per row with irregular widths. Basically, I’m looking to max the overall images to 12 by using 4 rows, which would place 3 images per row.
I see, that would take over the row height settings. Sorry it’s not a feature yet.
hi Firsch, Justified Image Grid looks great and I really like it. Since there are not so many jQuery justified grid plugins I wonder if it would be possible to use your Grid as a standalone plugin without WordPress?
Could you suggest any good alternatives?
Thank you and cheers, Luka
Maybe there is a reason why there are not so many
This kind of script needs the image dimensions before loading anything so that’s best backed up by a system like wordpress. Otherwise it needs some advanced stuff. One day of course I want to make a jQuery plugin, I already made the jQuery plugin core of JIG more standalone but it still needs WP, very much. Sorry I don’t know any alternatives but a handful of people have been successful at setting up their own PHP code and using JIG without WP.
hi, this plug-in is really great! thanks alot..! I apologize if my question has been answered buy.. How can I fix the font from instagram problem? the fonts is the emoticons.. it doesn’t appear right when shown in the web.. any idea how to fix it to show the actual emoticons..?
I haven’t heard of the problem yet, can you show it to me? Only problem was when the emoticons were in the username it crashed JIG but since it has been fixed. Those special symbols are likely not in the character encoding set in your website maybe also not in the font so there is a chance they can’t be displayed.
Hey, there! First off, thanks for an awesome plugin. I love it! I’m sorry if my question has already been answered—I can’t figure out how to search comments here.
I’m using the flickr image source option, but would like clicking on the thumbnail to go directly to flickr (ideally in a new tab), rather than opening a lightbox. Is this possible already? Am I missing something somewhere?
Again, apologies if this is a repeat, and thanks again.
Thanks! You’re the first to ask this.
Currently you can only link to Flickr from inside the lightbox (JIG adds a backlink).
If you wanted to look for that setting, where would you find it? Flickr tab as a separate setting, or perhaps in the lightboxes tab where the ‘click on a thumbnail does…’ setting is? I may add it in the future.
Thanks for the quick reply—good to know! For now the lightbox is fine (just trying to simplify the number of interfaces users see our images in).
I think I’d look for this option in the Flickr settings tab; I think ideally I’d want the ability to set this differently for each of the image sources. (I’m already kind of able to do this for nextgen gallery sources).
Thanks again!
Oh okay. I’ll consider including this setting. Thanks for the suggestion!
I have a little issue with this!
Basicaly, it’s one of the best things i’ve ever seen and works perfectly for me!
The only problem is: I’m using it for my recent posts. They are all loaded properly but if you scroll down to the end, the featured images are loaded a second time without crop and overlay effects.
Thanks for your help in advance and thank you so much for this awesome plugin
Thanks
Can you try to remove the strong (bold) tag and the p (pharagraph) tags from around the shortcode on the text tab of the editor? Maybe that helps.
Thanks for the speedy reply! Unfortunately it didn’t change anything.
To make it easier, i’m gonna send you login details by message
Okay. Usually it’s the lazy load plugins that bring those images out. They are in the source and are visible to google but you are not supposed to see them as JS creates the gallery.
It WAS acutally the lazy load plugin! Don’t worry. I can live without it! Not worth wasting energy on this case
If you need lazy load of images with JIG you can just use its load more feature set up with infinite scroll mode.
i have a pre sales question: I’m very interested in purchasing this and using it in conjunction with the social gallery plugin. is it possible to use these plugins together with flickr so our users can comment and like individual photos when they open them in lightbox?
does the flickr shortcode allow you to create a gallery using one or more photo tags?
can i use the shortcode to create a gallery based on a collection? I have several “sets” of photos taken in Indonesia, so I created a collection called “indonesia”. I would like to display photos from this collection.
so far looks like a great product, nothing like it on the market. thanks for your time.
Yes you can comment and like, that’t the point of it
Following the liked image’s link on FB will open the picture on its own though. You may need to ask the social gallery’s developer epicplugins for more information. Ideally a deeplink URL would open in your site like it does with prettyPhoto or FooBox.
There is a ‘Flickr search’ feature (not on the screenshots yet) that allows you to search for any kind of pictures on Flickr, including multiple tags.
Sorry collections (that hold sets?) are not supported yet. I have plans to make it like the ‘Facebook overview’ feature.
Hi, you had a request for Flickr Collections for Justified Image Grid earlier. I’m adding that feature as part of the Christmas update. If you are interested in the feature, I can offer it earlier as a beta, with your help as one of the beta testers (in case you have bought the plugin since then).
