Just want everyone to know that this is an awesome script! Aside from being an awesome script, I get great service as well. I asked a question and got a response within 24 hours. If you are thinking of purchasing this script, I highly recommend it!
Thank you gil719 for the nice words, it is important to us that our customers would be satisfied with our products and service.
This was exactly what I needed. I am a web designer so I needed a method for clients to upload files. I purchased your software and had it installed in about 10 minutes….. Thanks, Bernie SARASOTA WEBSITE DESIGN
No problem, We’re glad you like it!
Script is great! However, I have one question… is it possible to allow a file to be downloaded via email without having the recipient of the link to have to login? In other words, when a register user shares a file link, can the recipient just clink on the link to initiate the download instead of being taken to the login screen?
Thank you for purchasing our script. It is possible – can be achieved with 1 code change, you can contact us through den page and we will be glad to send you instructions on this one. In next version you will be able to manage this through admin settings panel.
I just installed the script, and it is working fine!
I have one remark. When a users uses the ‘forgot password’ option, he gets an email with new pass and instructions to change password on next login.
-
Username: Test
Password: XsurgeFA
Please change password as soon as you login.
But a users doesn’t have any options in his menu to change the password. Is there a workaround?
Kind regards, David
DavidVanEffen,
First of all – thank you for purchasing our script.
It was actually brought to our attention recently. We’ve added this functionality to “to do” list as well as several other bug fixes / functionality extensions. I can’t tell you when will we update this script for sure, estimate – about 3 – 4 weeks probably. Maybe faster … we’re currently finishing our new website which will accommodate all the support / feature requests, as soon as we will finish that – we will start updating our scripts with much more functionality.
In the meantime – what you can do is – replace the wording of that “forgot password” email, not to confuse your users.. If you will need help with this – you can send us an email through den page.
hello—I just installed this and i am getting this error message at the login screen.
Warning: mysql_fetch_assoc(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home2/wolstyco/public_html/urbancincinnati/fms/includes/functions.php on line 122
any idea whats going on here?
That’s weird.
1) Re-download files from codecanyon.
2) edit includes/dbconnect.php
3) upload to your server
4) go to your website / script directory / install.php
5) if you see successful messages in 4) then script is ready to be used.
Before I purchase this – can the default settings for ANY new user be set to 25mb? and four or five extra extension be preset for the user.
I have a printer setup where the user sends certain types of files only, and having them preset is a help.
Having just 1mb and only jpg to start with is a hassle
Can that type of setup be done with this?
Sure it can be done, thanks for your email – I will reply to you right now.
Hi! The product looks great. I want to purchase, but I had a question about the file size allowed for uploading and downloading. My site will have a clients who will upload and download large .mov files. Is this compatible with your files?
Thanks! Page
It depends on your hosting configuration. If your hosting provider allows you to change maximum filesize limits and upload limits – then you should be able to upload large files like you’ve mentioned.
In FAQ section there is a detailed explanation (3rd from bottom) regarding- how to set bigger upload limits
Thank you very, VERY much for the reply. Really helped a bunch!
Definitely a “FIVE STAR ” product.
Look forward to the future updates.
One little question, is it possible for us to make the download progress bar a little thicker and in red?
Actually had one client say that they could not see it. Albeit it was because they were in a hurry. But I just figured that making the progress bar a little thicker and in red might help.
Not a big deal, but just curious.
Hi, I’ve replied to your email.
Hello Convergine,
did you receive my private message asking how to change the DEFAULTS for:
1) The upload limits
2) And the allowable file extensions.
Had a client today that signed up but was not able to upload more than 1MB.
Which required him to have to wait on me to manually change his account limits.
The concern is that I will not always be available at a computer to update their accounts. Meanwhile the client will get frustrated because they have to wait on me to make the update to their account limits for them.
I tried to make the changes to the DEFAULT php code settings of this software but was not successful
Please let me know where and how I can modify the code.
Thanks.
I’ve received your email. Will reply shortly.
Ok thanks for the private reply concerning #1.
1) Still having issues with #2
2) When a user forgets their password they are sent an encrypted password to their email. Part of the email message states that they should log in to their account with the new ecrypted password and then change their password once they are logged in.
The issue is that there does not appear to be a function where they can recreate their password. So they are stuck with the encrypted one
3) When I tried to retrieve my admin password through the “forgot password” function it said, “For demo purposes you can’t change admins password. “
Is this correct? And why does it say, “demo”.
I did a keyword search in Dream Weaver for the word , “demo” and seven different files appeared.
I am sending you a link in a private email so that you may see for yourself.
Look forward to your reply.
Will reply to your email shortly.
Thanks for the reply.
1) Do you have a way where the “upload notification” email to the admin (not a “shared” one) will have a clickable URL link. It just gives the file name and is static.
2) I just downloaded this yesterday.
When I am ready I will give you the link to see what I mean concerning the inability to add exe as an extension.
And also concerning the file limitation. My max file limit in my php.ini file is 400mb and my max upload limit is the same.
Again I will send you the link when I am ready so that you may see what I mean firsthand.
Great script though.
But please let me know about the clickable URL link.
Also, the script also says that I have 20 MB quota even though my php.ini file says 400MB.
How do I raise the limit for my uploads?
I also found that the script does not allow for exe file extension to be added. It says, “That extension is not allowed in demo!”
Not a big deal, but a little odd being that this is on my own website and not the one on CodeCanyon.
Great stuff overall.
your php.ini file influences only maximum file limits server wise. For example if you have in php.ini maximum file limit 1 MB and in file manager you will have max file limit 10 mb – and file which you will be uploading will be lets say 9 mb – it will not be uploaded because you have 1MB limit on server. However if on php.ini you have 100 MB limit and on file manager you have 20 MB limit, file more than 20 MB will not get uploaded. It’s kinda 2 separate things server limits and script limits.
Regarding exe files – when did you download our script ?? This message doesn’t really exist in the system since version 1.4…. IF you have downloaded script within a month – what you need to check is that user which uploads exe files has extension EXE in allowed extensions for him ( and that EXE exists in extensions section in admin)
I re-downloaded codecanyon’s package of this script and it doesn’t give me any exe errors…
Thanks very much for the code to make the URL download links clickable.
But…
The clickable links ONLY work when a file is “shared”.
Whenever I upload a file it sends me a notification link that says, “test have successfully uploaded file iDevSpot.zip”
Yet the file is not clickable.
The only request that I have is that the notified File name that is sent to the admin’s email should be clickable too.
Can you send me a modification code so that I can make the email notifications to the admin post a download link too.
This is a great script and everything else works perfectly.
Look forward to your reply and a mod code.
The share link email had a bug which we fixed for you, however file name of the admin notification email – was not supposed to be clickable, it is just a notice to admin that such and such user uploaded such and such file. If you need that functionality – you need to edit file js/upload.php on line 67 according to your needs.
I just purchased the script and sent you an email.
Please send me the fix to make the URL download links in the emails clickable.
thx
Thank you for purchasing, will reply to the email shortly.
Hello.
I’ve a question: can a user decide the folder where upload files? I’ve seen the Admin can set this folder to the user.
But if the user wanted to create different folder for different file extensions like DOC , JPEG etc etc?
And can the system have more admins than one?
Thank you
Hi,
Only admin can create folders in this version. However with custom modification this scripts functionality can be extended to what you described.
You can add more admin but at this point – only manually setting permissions through phpMyAdmin or any other mysql database tool. If you’ll need help with that you can email me.
I will probably be purchasing within the next two days.
Will you be fixing the “bug” for the clickable URL download links by then?
Will this fix be reflected in your Demo?
Just one other thing, will there be a notification to the admin when a new user signs up (registers)?
Great stuff!
Admin gets notifications on several actions: new upload, new user, deleted file, edited file.
After you will purchase you can send me email I will send you instructions on what to do with that link bug. We will not update this file in the next week or so due to high load with other projects and pending updates for other scripts (domain manager and booking script will get updated first, then file management)
OK It appears that my questions were answered from your FAQ except…
1) This script allows the admin to create specific folders for each user? Or do the folders have to be already created/existing on the host server?
2) Does this script allow users to create their own folders?
3) I did not see a Registration page in the demo. Where is it?
4) Whenever I sent myself a download link (for PNG or JPG ) the URL link in my email was not clickable. So I would have to copy and paste it into a new browser window to get the download window.
Why is this happening? Aren’t the Download URL links that are sent to the email supposed to be clickable?
Want to buy this very soon.
Hi turner2f,
thank you for your interest in our script.
1) If you will login to admin demo panel you will see that administrator has section called folders – in this section admin can create folders.
2) Not at the moment. It certainly can be custom modified for additional cost if you need this functionality. Maybe we will add something like this in future updates of the script, not sure yet.
3) http://rxnk.com/scripts/filemanager/user_registration.php Registration page appears on login screen as a link “New User” if new registrations allowed in settings.
4) You’re correct, they’re supposed to be clickable. This is fairly small “bug” (if I may) which can be adjusted in 2 minutes, even without php knowledge. I’ll add this issue to “to do” list for future updates.
Quick Questions.
1) Does this uploader have email notification when a file is uploaded?
2) Is a URL download link of the file sent to the Admin’s email?
3) This script allows the admin to create specific folders for each user? Or do the folders have to be already created/existing on the host server?
4) Can the admin restrict certain types of files?
For more than 24 hours I’m searching I simple but usefull, multi-user php file manager application for my client’s web sites. I’ve tested near 20 of them. Ther are simple and buggy or big and complex. Yours is a the clearest one for instance.
I would like to suggest some features :
1) It would be nice to prefix mysql tables. 2) May we define selected file types by default. 3) Bandhwith and maximum file size by default. 4) Can upload and can edit his files options selected by default 3) Form verification for add new user forum. (actualy we have to restart the fill the form I there was an error such as omited email)
Important bug :
1) I’ve created to user with the same folder. user1 and user2 2) User1 uploads file named test.jpg 3) User2 uploads file named test.jpg and deletes this file. 4) User1 can’t download test.jpg because it’s deleted by user2.
Suggested solution : Each user must have a folder by default and two users can’t access the same folder.
Does it make sense ?
Best regards,
Baris S.
Hi Baris,
Thank you for your suggestions, we will give it a thought when we’ll decide on future updates of this script.
Regarding file overwriting – I will add it to “bugs list” and will fix in next update.
Thank you for your input.
Thank you for quick response. Before I sent my request, I tested everything first to make sure that we would not waste your time.
So as admin, I cannot upload a file, and as a test user, same result even though file extension is checked for both admin and user.
Not allowed file extension JPG ! Your total upload limit: 100 MB Your maximum filesize: 50 MB
The images is only 239kb’s
Here is the log files as well if this will help, if not – let me know if you need access to our server to check
admin 23 Apr 2010, 12:56 Error! Tried to upload test. Got ‘Not allowed file extension’ admin 23 Apr 2010, 12:53 Error! Tried to upload Test Image. Got ‘Not allowed file extension’
thanks
Yeah, send me through den page access to your installation, I will take a look (by access I mean – access to filemanager admin panel, not ftp)
