How to hide it completely on any mobile device? I have a shortcode in txt widget. Regards
It’s not possible to not display the plugin on a mobile device.
Sad… Anyway, thank you for extra-quick answer. Greets.
Hello Firsh,
Love your plugin, and am almost ready to start using it. Can it display a grid like this, with different image heights and widths within the same grid? Here – http://www.csocialfront.com/
Sorry JIG doesn’t have that layout.
Ok, thanks for the quick response. How would I set up a grid so that each photo opens a lightbox that can click through a pre-determined photoset (photos from a post, category, tag or combinations thereof)?
If you need one photo to launch a set of photos that are not visible otherwise on the page: http://justifiedgrid.com/nextgen-gallery-galleries/ second example. It’s only possible with NextGEN gallery, or Facebook overview. There is a setting on the nextgen tab to open the galleries in the lightbox rather than on a separate page.
Thank you!
Firsh – Are you aware of a lightbox or gallery plugin I could use with Justified that shows the thumbnails of a gallery inside the lightbox?
Yes prettyPhoto has that feature you just need to enable it. JIG settings, lightboxes tab, prettyPhoto JS settings:
change
overlay_gallery: false,
to
overlay_gallery: true,
thx. Can Colorbox do the same thing?
I don’t think so, no.
ok. Another question. I’m using the following code: [justified_image_grid ids=”8892,8891” row_height=200 link_title_field=caption img_alt_field=title title_field=off caption_field=caption caption=fixed caption_align=left v_center_captions=off overlay=everything overlay_icon=on overlay_opacity=0 mouse_disable=yes error_checking=no]. Without hover, it shows the overlay icon and caption, which is what I want. On hover though, I want it to change the opacity. How do I do that?
The overlay_opacity needs to be not transparent and the overlay mode needs to be not everything as that disables the hover interactions. The icon shares the same settings so it’ll be activated by mouse hover that way too.
That’s the problem, I want the icon to be frozen and displayed (along with the caption) without hover. Then, upon hover I want the background/image opacity to change.
Sorry they are not separated by default. If you add this to Custom CSS (general tab, JIG settings), the overlay icon will always be visible (if it’s enabled), regardless of your overlay settings.
.jig-overlay-icon-wrapper {
display: block !important;
opacity: 1 !important;
-moz-opacity: 1 !important;
filter:alpha(opacity=100) !important;
}
So once this is added feel free to set up your overlay effects in a mouse reacting way.
Re: prettyPhoto and thumbnails inside the lightbox. After I enable the “overlay_gallery:true” in the JIG settings, is there a way to toggle lightbox thumbnails on/off on a case by case basis? I didn’t find it in the shortcode editor.
No its global. Settings like that are advanced and multi line they wouldn’t go well with the shortcode format.
I’ve purchased, uploaded and activated FooBox, but I can’t get it to show up in the lightbox. Settings>JIG>Lighbox still reads “FooBox (not active!) is purchased separately.” I checked all the boxes at Settings>Foobox>Attach Foobox.
Which version of JIG do you have? You need v1.7.2
I have 1.6.1. How do I update?
Silly question – lazy, sorry. Got it updated.
In settings I have JIG Lightbox set to Foobox. In Settings I have Foobox set to “Add full support for JIG.” In my post’s JIG shortcode I have Lightbox set to Default. However, I keep getting the prettyphoto lightbox. I can force the Foobox lightbox be changing the shortcode setting to Foobox, but I want the default to work as Foobox. What am I doing wrong?
Have you selected a preset in the shortcode? If so that overrides your global choice of lightbox. Please choose foobox in the shortcode in this case.
Ah hah! Are all presets configured with prettyphoto?
Here’s a thought/problem. The presets are super convenient of course, but if you’ve set up (shortcoded) a number of posts with a preset, and you want to change the lightbox used, I guess you would have to change each lightbox setting within each post individually?? That would be really burdensome.
Valid point I’ll come up with a solution for this. No, half the presetd use colorbox for diversity.
It would be great to see a table with the settings used to generate each preset.
Great idea! You can currently see their settings around the top of the source php file.
Re: http://dev.bayarearegistry.com/mcmullen-fashion-show-cocktail-party/ . When you click on the feature image, the lightbox opens up but loads 2 items, the feature image and “Could not load the item.” How do I remove the load notice? Why is it there?
Probably another instance of prettyPhoto being activated on your site by your theme or another plugin. Can you disable the other lightbox? I’m on holiday now and cant yet check it more in-depth.
Ok. Enjoy holiday. But note, it’s happening in a Foobox lightbox.
Can you ask their support then maybe they knkw their plugin better!
Make sure you got the latest foobox and JIG also.
Will do. Question: How do I add color (border and fill) to a Load more button?
There is a setting for it where you can tune its CSS. JIG Global settings, Load more tab.
Thanks. I figured out how to change the gradient color, bot how do you change the colors of the text inside the gradient?
That would be the ‘color’ attribute, you need to add it if it’s not there.
Hello. Re: Filtering. I’m trying to filter images on a gallery page (http://dev.bayarearegistry.com/fine-art-photography-post). The images aren’t attached to a specific post, but are tagged by different photographers. How can I filter by the photographer image tags? The system seems to only allow me to assign the images to different categories in order to filter them.
Corrected url – http://dev.bayarearegistry.com/fine-art-photography-post
Never mind, figured it out.
Great!
Please add support for google+ photos.
Thanks for the suggestion I’ll consider it!
I don’t use g+ but if this shows your photo updates you can use it with JIG: http://gplusrss.com/
there is an error on one of my pages using justified Image Grid. A window with no content is poping up when one opens this page. see jrenestuder.ch/portfolio. any suggestions for resolving this?
thanks
That seems to be colorbox but I’m not sure why it opens. Try setting the lightbox to prettyPhoto. I know you are linking to other pages and the lightbox choice won’t have any effect. But at least colorbox won’t be loaded by JIG at all.
did not fully understand your comment but prettyPhoto worked. Great, men thanks for your immediate support.
Great!
If there is anyone out there considering purchasing this plug-in, don’t waste anymore time considering and just buy it !
I can say first hand, the developer provides the most fantastic support I’ve ever experienced online.
thanks Firsh. Matt.
Thank you very much Matt! Your usage helped make the JIG+Flickr experience better for the others too.
I have the Kutcher theme. When selecting PrettyPhoto, two different lightbox with the same image is popping out..
Selecting colorbox has no issues, bu t i prefer the prettybox though. How can I disable the double lightbox?
Already fixed
Great
Hello -
I’m very interested in this plug in, but want to make sure it fits my needs…
QUESTION 1: I have a file of images that I would like to display in a grid format, but I would like those images to appear in random order each time a viewer visits the page where the grid is located. Is this possible?
QUESTION 2: Would it make a difference if the images are uploaded to a library in WordPress, or should they be images inserted posts within a specific category?
Ideally, my preference would be to just upload the entire group of images, and have them display randomly in a grid…
Thank you for your time. Nice work!
1. Yes, random order is available for all image sources.
2. If they are added to the media library you need to select them for display somehow (WP gallery creation process or tagging or categorizing). It’s best if you upload them directly to a post.
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly!
Just so I’m clear…
I’ll be creating a series of posts in a specific wordpress ‘category’... Each of those posts will have an image uploaded to it.
I can create a gallery using your plug in, and one of many popular light boxes and the gallery can display a set of images randomly pulled from the single category I’ve chosen.
If the grid/gallery is set to display on a static page, the images in the gallery will be different on each page reload because of the random image setting.
Did I get that right?
In that case you need to use the ‘recent posts’ feature which will pull one single featured image per post that represents each post in your single/multiple category (or custom taxonomy). You can have the clicks pointing back to the originating posts or open the images in the lightbox (or open the WP attachment page). If you decide to open them in the lightbox as a gallery you can still put a link to the originating post into the lightbox, if you want. As you can see it’s very flexible.
Yes on the random order.
Lightboxes are limited to the officially supported lightboxes: http://justifiedgrid.com/which-lightbox-to-use/
I love your plugin but had some issues a while back with Nextgen gallery. I went to an older version of Nextgen and that fixed the problem but is this something you were able to fix? Can I update to latest Nextgen gallery now? Thanks.
Yes it’s been fixed in August. More info: http://justifiedgrid.com/nextgen-gallery-general-information/ and http://justifiedgrid.com/updates-and-changelog/ v1.6 changelog.
You need to update to v1.7.1 though, before getting the latest NextGEN.
Is it possible when using the filter tag cloud w/ “AND” filtering enabled to make it so when you click the lone selected tag again it resets back to “All”.
For example- Tag cloud: All, red, blue, green, yellow, pink. I click blue. It filters. I click blue again, it un-filters and resets back to all. Is that possible? Right now once only one tag is checked, the only way of uncheck it is by clicking back to All.
Nice suggestion yes I think it can be done. Do you think it’s more logical than how it is? Is there anything wrong with having to click on All? Mind that some people doubleclick on “the internet”
Absolutely. The AND filter option is great to utilize when you have a great deal of tags. In my case, there are around 40 some that are attributes that describe the content of my pictures. So ideally, the user would be clicking the filters, combining them, unclicking them, combining, etc.
Having to click back to All to get rid of the lone checked tag disrupts the natural flow of this process. It confused me initially and I am obviously 10x more familiar with the plugin/gallery and its functionality than your average visitor.
Love your work though, this plugin is fantastic.
Ok I’ll check this out now, you have convinced me
Contact me from my profile so I can send you a beta that will have this.
That is sooo gooood! Great usability improvement, thanks for the idea! I’ve just enabled that for filter_multiple=and and filter_multiple=or. Not sure if it’s meaningful when you can only select one filter at a time, I guess it’s fine the way it is in that case. Multi filters encourage clicking around a lot so it’s really necessary. Can’t wait to send it to you
What do you think should happen when the first button is not an ‘All’ button?
Wow, I did not expect you to do this so quickly! thank you so much. I will contact you right now.
I am not sure about your question. When the All button is not there – the default view is just the first tag right? I think the All button might be needed, but it would still work if it just went to the first tag when everything was unchecked.
Sent you that beta
You’ll see which method works for you best. Yes the default is the first tag.
Plugin looks amazing! One feature I wish it would support is to be able to pull images from Dropbox (Camera Uploads, Screenshots, Etc) or some other type of cloud.
cough Dropbox does have an API
Hm, will definitely check that out. I already like how my phone loads dropbox stuff. This could be good for travelers or bloggers who just take pictures and upload them to the dropbox cloud.
Well with the newer technology being released. Photographers should be hopping on board, especially with WordPress, this plugin, cloud, etc. I’m full of ideas
I’m all-in for these clever connections of multiple technologies together
Hi there!
Is it possible to set different row heights by css? the row height seems to be written inline, not per css… i want different row heights by resolution/css-file…
thank you =)
sry, found the option… just couldnt see it between the others
There are the mobile row height and regular row height + row height deviation settings.
Hey,
is there a possibility to display the gallery’s title on top of each gallery?
Thanks for your reply.
If you are using NextGEN then yes: [justified_image_grid ng_gallery=2 ng_description=yes]
I’m using [justified_image_grid ng_album=2] to display all gallerys. Is it also possible there?
Add ng_description=yes then yes. Albums can have descriptions too by the way.
Okay, but then I have to add to each gallery desciption the gallery title. Is there no other way to show directly the gallery’s title on top of the page?
It’s in the breadcrumb if you enable that, is it any good?
I have enabled the breadcrumb with the following shortcode: [justified_image_grid ng_album=2 ng_breadcrumb=yes ng_bc_base=none ng_bc_home=album_name]
But it only shows me the album’s title. Look at this: http://www.wips-live.de/bilder/nggallery/2013/halloween-waldhausen-2013/
That’s weird! Do you have the latest NextGEN 2.0.33 I think, and JIG v1.7.1?
Jep
Please contact me from my profile, I’ll need to check this out for you.
I am getting this error while authorizing. what should be my redirect uri
{“code”: 400, “error_type”: “OAuthException”, “error_message”: “Redirect URI does not match registered redirect URI”}
that is for instagram by the way
Please follow your step by step Instagram instructions on the Instagram tab. You can open the “how to” link there. You need to use (copy) the exact redirect URL it says in bold, to your Instagram APP settings.
I did. Here is my GIG settings and IG settings
http://www.tiikoni.com/tis/view/?id=8355258The redirect URI is something longer.
http://mybrandboost.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=jig_ig_author similar, but not the main domin by itself.
I think that is the missing instruction. I did not find that in any of the documentation. Now the authorization has passed. But when I use the shortcode manager to create a shortcode. The shortcode that was created is just [justified_image_grid] I was expecting something that has parameter for IG. The resulting page is here after inserting the shortcode in a test page http://mybrandboost.com/?page_id=774
Just so you know also. I am trying to show images from IG not based on any user but based on hashtags. I don’t know if that matters but that is what I am trying to do with JIG.
Thanks
The Redirect URI is created for you here: http://justifiedgrid.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/IG.jpg
After you have searched for a hashtag in the SCE, you need to click on the desired result so it has a blue frame around it, thus telling the SCE which is your selection. Only then it’ll genreate an IG-specific shortcode. There could be multiple tags that are similar to your search. Use the buttons to select your Instagram source and do not use the “instagram_tag_filter” setting, that’s for narrowing an already selected source (there would be no other way to narrow your photos by tags for example).
I manage to get it work by using examples at http://justifiedgrid.com/instagram/
Do you have further documentation of instagram shortcode? What are the options I can set and how to set it? Like themes, etc.
Thanks
I think the problem is that there is delay before SCE pickup the authorized user from settings. Hence, I am unable to see other options. Now it is clearer since there are new option in SCE now. Though there are no option like you have on your test page. things like preset, maxrow, etc.. hou have list of posible options?
Is it possible to pick random image from results?
Thanks
You can see the styling options on other tabs at the top of the Shortcode Editor. Those are independent of the image source and work with any picture so they are not found on the Instagram tab, but spread over their own tabs. Yes there is a small delay as it communicates with Instagram but you should also see a progress bar.
Random image: set limit to the amount of pictures you need and set order_by to random. That should get you the desired result.
is this gallery WMPL supported? meaning that i can add captions/titles in various languages?
thanks in advance.
With NextGEN, yes. Image captions are pulled through NextGEN’s internationalization class that is compatible with WPML. nggGallery::i18n
Not sure about WP galleries, if you can specify their captions with WPML in different languages then it could work. I only tested it with NG.
hey,
http://haridhamnj.org/harinew/wallpapers/ http://haridhamnj.org/harinew/gallery/sharad-poonam-annakoot-mahotsav-2013/whats going on here? something is breaking it?
It’s the lazy load plugin, disable it it’ll likely solve the problem. If you can please find a different one that doesn’t make invisible images in the source visible. They are there for Google as the gallery is created with JS and otherwise google wouldn’t see them.
the lazy load is helping / improving my site performance everywhere – except when i use your plugin – is there alternative solution then just disable it?
JIG has Load More (with infinite scroll) as an alternative to lazyload. Can you add some exclusions to that lazy load plugin so it leaves JIG alone? If so I can help you supply the CSS class or similar.
CloudFlare improves image loading performance greatly by the way.
Hi Firsh,
Loving this plugin, but of course I have another issue where I’m stuck for the moment. When I click on the visual editor from Tiny MCE, I usually then just select a gallery I’ve created from NextGen. Or, I copy the gallery I made from within Wordpress, and so on.
Today I’m trying to put an album up, showing all the galleries. I have been going through your plugin from Tiny MCE. When the window pops up, I am asking for an album instead of a gallery, and selecting the only album I have created. That particular album contains most of the galleries I have created. The post will then show the album with a list of galleries displayed, but when I click on one of the galleries, I get a 404 error. When I do it by selecting a gallery instead of an album, all is working correctly. I know this is probably beyond your plugin, meaning I think your plugin is probably working correctly, but I thought you might have some ideas about what’s wrong.
Here’s a link: http://hiddenmesa.com/?p=1141Thanks,
You need to refresh the permalink structure. Go to WP options permalinks and click save changes. You can try to revert to no permalinks then back to your structure again. In some cases the hosting company is responsible for it, but rarely. Try the permalinks things to see if it works. If you don’t use JIG, the problem will still persist as it’s likely a NextGEN problem. You can ask their support too if all else fails.
Thanks Firsh, The problem is certainly not with JIG. I’m not sure it’s really a problem but might instead be a misunderstanding over how things are supposed to work. If I change the permalinks to default, it works. When I change it back, it presents a 404 error. If I associate each gallery to a page, it then works, which might be the proper way to present these galleries anyway. I would like them to have individual paragraphs and titles when displaying, so they have to be in either a page or a post of some kind. Trouble is, I would rather use a post for tagging purposes and don’t know how to do that AND associate them with an Album. That discussion, however, is clearly for the NextGen forums and not relevant to here. Your plugin is continuing to perform perfectly as far as I can tell.
I tried with and without JIG and it behaved the same. Definitely not an issue with JIG. I can make it work correctly changing permalinks to “Defaults”, but the behavior returns as soon as I go back to my preferred setting.
I get the proper behavior is I put the galleries in pages instead of posts when I group them with albums. That is to say, if I reference them from inside an album, I must have the gallery being displayed from a page. Makes sense I guess, since it has no container otherwise. When it does display by using default permalinks, it retains the Album Title when it displays the gallery, and I need the gallery title to display anyway, so maybe I’m better off using pages.
I found a plugin that allows me to Tag Pages the same as Posts, so I get the same search capability.
Some security plugins, server security settings, and your .htaccess file in the WP root folder can influence permalinks behavior. Other plugins that register custom post types or custom strings for use in permalinks can affect this(such as JIG, but I do it properly).
Great it seems you are looking at a possible solution. Asking on NextGEN forums doesn’t hurt.
This is without a doubt one of the most powerful plugins available. It gives you so many options it will take you hours to understand them all.
Use it for Ads: I implemented it as a new way to serve up ads for my clients, and they LOVE IT. It’s clean and it’s fast, it truly is a fantastic plugin.
Thank you so much!
Hi
Just some questions.
We use a online directory theme for businesses. So you can search by category like location etc. Each category has image link you can click on homepage to go to category and the business listings
Possible to use this image grid to attach to category links so when you click it goes to the category page?
Possible to display same image each time for same category link?
Thanks R
You can add custom links to images, so when those are clicked they take you to the desired page. This can be set up automatically if those images are featured images on posts, in that case you’d be using the Recent posts feature of JIG.
I hope I understood you correctly. If not, please tell me more or possibly send a link.
Hi mate,
Can you tell what’s going on here.
weddings.blaskphotography.com.au/portfolio
Looks like a filter/tag but ??
thanks,
Matt.
ok, I think it has something to do with the limit of images. Possible?
If I change to 200 the problem occurs, if I change to 0=unlimited, the problem occurs.
If I limit to say, 11, the filter looks fine….but, I can only display this limit
??
See the problem here. https://www.dropbox.com/s/fmmw7t78klkoace/Screen%20Shot%202013-10-31%20at%202.18.42%20pm.pngthanks for any help.
If I understand correctly you wish to remove the “vision **” tags? I presume a plugin added those tags to your pictures [in the past]. So if you load more pictures then there is a greater chance these older, mistagged images will show up so you’ll end up with their filters added as tags on the top. What you could do, is if you have a somewhat fixed set of tags you wish to use, is to set filter order to custom (filtering tab), and as the custom order ender this: Brides, Guests, Mclarens, Girls, Details, Groom, Couple, Boys, Group, Engagement
Example:
[justified_image_grid filterby=on filter_orderby=custom filter_custom_order=”Brides, Guests, Mclarens, Girls, Details, Groom, Couple, Boys, Group, Engagement”]
Thanks for your reply. I’m having some trouble with this, see below. The same thing is happening. Do you know of what old plugin this could be relating to because this is quite annoying and I’d rather just get rid of it?
I am trying your suggestion, but without much luck.
[justified_image_grid preset=11 filterby=on limit=0 filterby=on filter_orderby=custom filter_custom_order=”Brides, Guests, Mclarens, Girls, Details, Groom, Couple, Boys, Group, Engagement” flickr_user=71460362@N04 flickr_photoset=72157634883074012]
Oh you are using Flickr. I copied your shortcode to my test site and I remembered you need to have no space between the custom order tags. So this will work:
[justified_image_grid preset=11 limit=0 filterby=on filter_orderby=custom filter_custom_order=”Brides,Guests,Mclarens,Girls,Details,Groom,Couple,Boys,Group,Engagement” flickr_user=71460362@N04 flickr_photoset=72157634883074012]
In your case the other tags are likely machine tags from Flickr or similar, I’ll investigate this as I’ve never seen those before. If they shouldn’t be included I’ll adda fix that skips them. For now just try to use this shortcode.
Sorry to be a pain with this, but I’ve copied this with absolutely no luck.
I really thought I had everything covered with this plugin, but I guess there’s always something that can go wrong.
I don’t know, doesn’t look like the tags are going to work with me
If I give you my flickr API key, can you test this more in depth?
Thanks,
That shortcode worked with my Flickr API key, I added your user ID 71460362@N04 – I can send you my staging URL via email if you contact me first from my profile so you can see it working here.
The vision stuff should absolutely not display. Make sure the ” quote marks are not the print-type ‘nice’ quotes – codecanyon creates those. It may help to re-write them manually to be the regular straight quotes! Also make sure you clear the cache if you are using caching plugins (W3 Total Cache or similar).
So, I changed the quotes to straight quotes, but no luck. Cleared cache too.
Also, I tried uploading again from lightroom 5 direct to flickr, same photos, same tags, different photo set. Unfortunately I got the same result.
I then added anther set with over 90 photos in that set and no problems.
It is either to do with uploading from Lightroom 5 to Flickr as I was using this before with Lightroom 4. OR, an issue with my recent photos, but I think the first one.
Anyway, if you didn’t have issues, ?? I’ll contact you from your profile. thanks.
Okay I’ll show you. It’s likely automatic tags by Flickr or Lightroom by the way.
ok, so the latest is that I have uploaded from Lightroom 4 to flickr…same automatic vision: tags.
uploaded images on my drive to flickr, same result. So, I have to say that my problem seems its with bloody flickr, not with Lightroom.
If I use a set already up on flickr, all is fine.
Flickr have a notice up saying, ‘try our new photo experience beta’ so I reckon they are messing with something. Really annoying.
I added some tags to a set already up on flickr and they come up fine filtering using jig so,
anyway, thanks for your help, I’ll just have to look to not using filters as anyway images get put on flickr seems like it’s adding these, vision: tags.
It’s not a solution :/ I can take a look at it by not specifying the custom filters (by their order) manually (I don’t see why it doesn’t work for you), but to discard these automatic tags or whatever they are, automatically, as I don’t think anyone needs them. It would be a modified beta version for you.
If its not a huge amount of work for you to look further, Id appreciate it. Your development has so many other options I’m sure Id find a way to display nicely, but the filtered tags are the best for me. Im in Australia, so off to bed now. Thanks for all your support.
Sent you a mail, let’s continue there. It doesn’t seem a lot of work.
Hi,
I’ve linked a gallaery with a Tumblr blog. The first image showed up fine (probably because it was posted before I created the page/gallery). Now that the gallery is up I’ve added a few more test images on Tumblr and they are not showing in the gallery. I’ve set rss_caching to 0 and 1..waited for over an hour by now but no update.
The site is running on WP3.7. Any idea?
I’m sorry if this was asked before but there’s no search in this forum.
Thanks for your help.
Alex
RSS caching may be overwritten by other plugins, I’m using the WP standards. Are you seeing the new image if you open the RSS feed in the browser?
Are you using W3 Total Cache or WP Super cache or similar? They may cachce the page so you don’t see anything updating as the shortcode doesn’t change.
Thanks for the quick reply. I am not using any caching plugins so far. I will have to see if there’s anything the theme is doing (Genesis 2.0 framework). Otherwise I’ll get back to you. Thanks.
And yes, the new images show in the rss feed, perfectly fine on tumblr.
The RSS caching time likely is not affected by yuor value then
