I want to include multiple custom post types in the “recents_post_type” tag in the shortcode, but it doesn’t seem to work (I tried comma seperating them “recents_post_type=books,audio” but that also doesn’t work). Is there any way to do this, or can this feature be added? My page categorizes things by custom post types (rather than categories) so it would be great to list all posts from each custom post type.

No it’s not possible at the moment, that’s quite unusual. You’re the first one asking about this. I think it can be added just like I added multiple galleries for NextGEN. If you are interested in beta testing this feature I could use your help. This just means you’d get this feature custom made but it’ll also be included at a later version if all works well. I don’t have any custom post types to test this. Send me a mail from my profile, if interested.

It works everywhere, even in widgets or as a template tag. In post, pages you have a visual editor and inside it you have access to the shortcode editor. You can copy the code to widgets (that don’t have visual editor).

Ah you just need to use prettyPhoto, only that lightbox has video capabilities. Add lightbox=prettyphoto to the code or select it in the shortcode editor.

what’s the best way to update the plugin?
Overwrite all files from the zip (in the main zip) via FTP. If that’s too techy just uninstall the old and install the new one, all settings are kept.
I think that’s a plugin in the browser, could it be? That seems like a 3rd party feature gone wrong. I don’t have that kind of hover and enlarge feature.
No plug-ins. Chrome at its purest. You notice that it only flickers/flashes on certain demos, i.e. the “Google” one.

I don’t know what you mean. Which browser are you using? Which part of the demo, the frontpage? They should smoothly fade from black and white to color, and back.
Really love the plugin, looks great! I use it with NGG and Foobox. We are working to set up multiple galleries using a somewhat complex filter and we were hoping you might be able to tell us how to do it, if it is even possible.
What we’re hoping to do is this: Automatically populate an image grid using only the featured images from child-pages of a specific parent ‘Page’
Currently, we were able to create a gallery that pulled all pages with a featured image; however, we could not figure out how to automatically exclude other sibling pages from the gallery. Also, we definitely want to avoid having to manually enter IDs for every page that needs to be excluded as that would be too much maintenance for our client to handle in the long run.

Nah it’s fine, at least you are utlizing the full power of the shortcode. Anyway, what would be the most convenient way to specify that JIG should load the child posts’s featured images? A toggleable setting that allows you to set yes/no? No IDs whatsoever.

Initially I was wondering if there was a way to do this using the existing functionality; however, if you are willing to code this function in, it would be totally awesome!
There might be a better way to do this, but here’s what I came up with:
recent_post_type=page /* As normal, this defines whether the plug-in will pull from posts, pages or custom-posts/
page_id=[page id] / Important! This selects the parent page /
children_only=yes / Important! This shows only the parent page and any descendents /
number_of_generations=[-1 or 0 or 1-10] / Would be cool! Not certain how tricky this would be to implement, but this setting would define/limit the number of generations pulled by the plugin, similar to limiting menus to only 2 or 3 levels of depth. -1 would pull all descendents. 0 would pull no descendants (not certain how useful that would be) or would exclude the parent page or could be assigned some other purpose or ignored. 1-10 would pull that many generations into the gallery (so you can limit the depth of the gallery to just 1 or 2 generations of descendents, if needed) /
use_featured_image=yes / Might be useful! This is not entirely necessary, but helps to clarify that only featured images will be used. */
In my mind, it makes the most sense to add these functions to the “Recent Posts” section of the Justified Image Grid shortcode editor

Hi, there was an update since your comment but this couldn’t make it since you were gone 
The parent_id is ok. Children and generations can be merged and not sure about that high resolution of depth. Parent only, First children or All descendants should be ok to do. I don’t see the point in use_featured_image as it doesn’t work without those anyway. I don’t want to make it hard to use or make this the main purpose of recent posts, just a small addition (as 2 extra settings).

As for functionality, I strongly agree that simple is definitely better!
For clarity, the reason I added generations is that we were hoping to limit it to First and Second with the option of a Third for our galleries, as deeper than that things get a bit crazy; however, we should be able to restructure to use just First or All.
That said, if you were able to introduce even 3 levels of depth, it would allow the plug-in to be even further cross-purposed as a very beautiful and highly customizeable visual navigation system.
I totally understand that that takes time a resources, though! We are deeply grateful for whatever you can make happen.
Also, I have installed the 1.4.9 update and am playing with it now. I’m loving all the new formatting options! And the addition of tags is hugely useful!

If you wish to link a particular page of that theme preview please remove the purchase bar because I get only the front page.
Do you mean live sortability? That feature is planned. Currently you can tag photos with nextgen and filter by those but you need to decide the filter when creating the gallery, you won’t have buttons for it above the gallery when displayed. The next version will allow you to do the same with normal WP images as well. Then later I’ll add some live sortability options once you’ll have all the options to tag or categorize the images.

Sorry no that’s the live sorting, not available yet but since everything is almost there it’ll be just a matter of time. You can currently use the tags can categories or whatnot to create a gallery and narrow the images down. You’ll do the filtering when adding the gallery, not the visitor of the site as there is no buttons above the gallery (yet). For now you’d need to create a different page or tab for each variation of the filter.
The site you linked uses isotope plugin which is also planned for a later version.

I’m not exactly a WordPress expert or anything, so bear with me.
Anyway, I downloaded and paid for this Justified Image Grid plugin, and I would very much like to use it. However, activating the plugin seems to crash my dashboard entirely. From there, all I get is a blank white screen in my browser when I try to access anything under the admin options. I’ve at least rooted the issue to this plugin, since when I delete the plugin from my wp-content files through my BlueHost control panels, the dashboard works properly again.
I have tried both uploading the plugin through the internal WordPress admin module as well as uploading through my BlueHost control panel manually. Each time, I encountered this same issue. And since all I get is empty white space, I’m not sure how to check into what kind of issues are being created.
Clearly, there is some kind of conflict occurring and I don’t know what that could be. Any help would be appreciated. This plugin seems to be exactly what I need and I’d rather not have to push anyone’s buttons for a refund.

as far as I can tell you are the first experiencing this crash. Does this happen when you try to activate the plugin from the plugin page of the dashboard? Do you have access to server error logs? Do you have / can you enable wp_debug in the config.php file – to show php errors? I think it’s something simple. Only thing that could cause this is that my plugin checks for permissions for timthumb cache folder and also tries to change them if they are not enough. Some servers could prohibit this, but at best it should only silently fail. Bluehost is not known for doing this, so it’s weird. Anyway if you contact me from my profile I’ll ask for ftp+admin access so I can check this out for you.

I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again. This is one of best gallery plugins out there. Easy to install and use and looks fantastic. With it’s easy social media integration this proved to be the best solution for clients who were more comfortable uploading images onto their social media accounts than entering the WP Admin which can be daunting for some. 5* all the way. Highly recommended!

Is it possible to use JIG as a simple mouse over effect to a Page link (like an album link without pics on the directed link)? I want to purchase and I really like the Special Effects. the license question is yes you are correct, you’ll need to pay a single regular license for each website.
I’m not sure about your page link question, you want to use the grid without images? That’s a no. But if you have some images to work with, you can make them link anywhere. If you have posts with featured images that’s even better because you can link to them automatically.

What I meant is that I have a page with a pic, then use your nice special effects (mouse over the pic) and then click on the pic and then I will directed to a “normal” page (custom) link (not to a gallery). But I think your example shows, that it’s possible, because the link is to a flickr page and not to a specified gallery. If so I am very glad to see!!! Another question is I use Cyberchimp Themes like Eclipse Pro 2, Neuro Pro, Cyberchimps Pro, iFeature 5 Pro and Business Pro. Have you any experience with those themes and JIG? Any bugs reported here?

Well whatever you see in the preview site is possible. Yes there is a custom link feature, no screenshot of it on the preview site yet, but you’ll find it in the image metadata (where you set up title and captions for the images).
Never heard of those themes, but if you have a problem I’m here to help. You can start by buying a license and then you’ll have the ability to try it everywhere you want, on your test server. If it works and you wish to use them in production then you’ll need to buy as many licenses as needed.

Built-in youtube auto pulling feature is planned but not yet added. However you can alreafy point to youtube video urls manually and they’ll open in the lightbox. I’ll need to find a better video lightbox to connect the upcoming native youtube feature to. It can be expected in v1.5, no ETA. If you have a suggestion for video lightbox, tell me:)
mediaelements seems quite a good video player, i use it at the moment on ccgallery, any options coming up for playing audio files?
You’re the first one to request audio so no not yet. Mediaelements is good but it’d be best if combined with a lightbox.
Justified Image Grid is now able to pull videos from Vimeo and Youtube using RSS feeds! Grab the latest version today.

Ive got an error on the pinterest add button. When I go and click on it the pop is fine. When you hit “Pinit” I get this error:

Can you try to disable:
deeplinking:false,
on the lightboxes tab in the plugin’s settings, prettyPhoto JS settings. Some users are having this problem. Have you tried the pin buttons on my preview site http://justifiedgrid.com if they do the same thing for you?
What do you mean you changed lighboxes, which do you use currently? You could only get that error if you are using prettyPhoto.

What does deeplinking mean?
Deeplinking means you can open the page and the selected photo will re-open if the #prettyPhoto1/0/ is in the URL.
When disabled: sharing to pinterest: this means you still pin the image you selected, but upon following the link the browser will just open the page and not re-open the individual picture in the lightbox.
