Sending emails as bcc?
Everything seems to working fine, so thank you for the plugin.
How to send emails for multiple recipients as bcc by keeping email addresses as private matters. By default, email address are shown for the recipients.
Replacing code in somehow? I can do that by myself if knowing what to do. Sincerely,
Antti
I have replied to your email.
What am I doing wrongly? I am trying to personalize text in the email template by using tags e.g. {Sender’s name}, {Sender’s email}...etc. However, those information don’t print out in the received emails. My testing ecard form can be found here http://anttihaverinen.net/mgetm/?page_id=4. So, is there mistake in syntax?
Sincerely,
Antti
EXCERPT FROM THE EMAIL Nullam {Sender’s name} nec eros vitae purus lobortis facilisis ut vitae metus. Integer dui purus, rhoncus eget porttitor ut, luctus porta nisi.
Those are not tags, those are just examples. Don’t use them in the template, use a general email message.
Ok. I understand. Thank you for the quick reply.
I’m using this plugin to add ecard posts. I’m not using one page for all of the card images. What I am doing is inserting the image into the post.
Since I do it this way I do not want the small thumbnail and radio button below the image, can someone tell me how to edit the code so I can remove the small thumb and radio button?
or is there an option to turn it off? if there isnt an option…there needs to be
thanks!
It used to function like you want it to. But requests to function like it currently does were overwhelming.
I know exactly what you need and I will probably implement it on the next update, February 15th.
It is done. An update is scheduled for this weekend. So, if you only have one image, it will not display the thumbnails and radio buttons.
Hi, In my theme the overall general > site title forces the user email to not be used. Instead, the word “Wordpress” becomes the from when received. I removed the site title and inserted a .png logo and tagline. This caused the ecard to use the user’s email. So, I guess that is what it’s supposed to be, i.e., use the email? Or, is it supposed to use the person’s name? I can live with the email for now. J
See my answer to your previous question, I’ll fix it in the next update.
Hi, I’m puzzled. When I send an ecard, it now says “WordPress” in the “From” line. I realize that Mail From II will let me set the from to whatever I want. But, I want the name entered in the ecard “Your name” box. Didn’t this plugin used to arrive from the sender’s name entered in the ecard “your name” box as the from, not “WordPress”? J
Hello. Yes, it did, but lots of users reported emails landing in spam, so I decided to use this plugin in order to fix this issues. I’ll consider adding an option to switch between the free plugin and the user email address. Next update is on February 15th.
So, due to SPAM rules, the name and email should be on the same domain. The “From:” name should match your email name on your wp_mail() domain. As a result, the switch option will not be available.
Thank you.
Your version 1.5.10 permitted the user’s email to show as the “From:” What I believe you are saying above is that 1.5.10 was/is a violation of the SPAM rules. The “From:” must be something like “ecard@domain.com” or whatever@domain.com.
So, when I set up an email account for a domain from which I use the ecard plugin, and using “Mail From II”, this (a generic email account such as “ecard@domain.com”) is the only email which is transmitted from the site (domain.com). In this manner, I am in compliance with SPAM rules?
Also, if people register with “domain.com”, I could create an email account such as butterflymedia@domain.com. From here, you could send an ecard and it bears your branding?
J
When you mention SPAM rules are you referring to the spam email client/folder guidelines or to the CAN-SPAM Act? Can you let me know either way as soon as possible. I am in the process of launching a product and this is the last piece of the puzzle.
J
I am saying the spam email client/folder guidelines. I have merged the “Mail From” plugin into the main eCards plugin.
very confused, I made a demo ecard in your demo and it came back to the ‘sample card’ no custom text that I added was included
I just tested it and it worked fine for me. Contact me via email, please.
Hi Butterflymedia,
I just purchased this plug-in, but cannot figure out how to get the emails to avoid going directly to spam in both Gmail and our company email. Any tips/advice on how to fix this?
Thanks! Kelly
Hello. Unfortunately, no advice, as this depends highly on the server. I have clients sending eCards straight to Inbox, and I have clients sending them straight to Spam folder. Try to install the Mail From II plugin – http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-mailfrom-ii/ – it’s free.
Also, try sending a sample eCard from my demo site. Where does it land? For me, it’s always Inbox.
the images are not shown on my iphone. is that normal? is there a way to get this working?
Use the support forum, please.
at first I got the ecard email but no picture , now I am not getting the email
Please check with your host.
check what with my host? what would the issue be with my host ?
Email sending is not a feature of my plugin. Email sending is a server function. Please check with your host. They have detailed logs where you can see any email errors.
great plug in…..I have everything setup and working perfect except I would really like to format the actual email message that the person receives so that the email address, name and message looks more styled along with the image that they receive. I went through the documentation but can not figure this out. Do you have any sample CSS that you can post? thanks
You can use the editor to style the default message. Other than that, it’s just an email message and you cannot change its appearance. I’m trying to keep it universally compatible with all email clients.
Hi butterflymedia,
This plug-in looks nearly perfect for my site: scribblegraph.me
Please let me know if you are developing it further to work with wooCommerce; I’m more than happy to help you test this if you’d get in touch with me.
I see you are currently developing use with PayPal – this may also be suitable; is this near completion?
I look forward to hearing from you =)
Hello. eCards is not supposed to work with WooCommerce. WooCommerce is a shop plugin and I don’t see the connection between it and my plugin.
What exactly do you mean by this integration with WooCommerce?
I am, indeed, working on a PayPal module, which will be available for all my plugins. It is supposed to work as a separate plugin (free) or part of the eCards.
hi butterfylmedia – thanks for your reply.
Apologies, I’ve misunderstood your plug-in then.
I had thought the plug-in created eCards that could then be sold at a unit price via the WP install – wooCommerce is a well-used eCommerce tool that could handle the sale of the eCard product.
By integrating with eCommerce tools like wooCommerce, you could leave the PayPal integration out of your coding, and be integrated with a wide array of other payment options.
Regardless, if using only PayPal is the option you see best, I’ll watch with interest and certainly hope to be able to use your plug-in when that part of the product is complete. I’m currently selling an eCard product, but having to ‘hand-make’ and deliver each card individually as there are very few solutions available in the marketplace, and even less of them are maintained.
Get in touch if you’d like to talk about testing once you’re ready, and affiliation & promotion in the long run. I’m always happy to promote great products & solutions both on my site and on G+ to other site builders. plus.ashlann.com
Hello and thanks for the plugin.
But I’ve a concern. Or rather a request for the ecard email sent out to be presented in a certain way.
Right now the recipient gets the image. Followed by a direct link to the image itself. Followed by a smaller thumb-sized version of the image Followed by a link to the page where the ecard was sent from.
Have tried numerous different settings for that option asking if I’d like to show the eCard inside mail message and show or hide the (link to source).
What I would prefer to do is to simply have the recipient get the image at its larger size in the email along with the link to the page…’and nothing more. Along with of course the sender’s message and all.
What or rather how can I go about getting what I want?
Thanks in advance.
Let me check this and I’ll: either release an update with clearer options, or create a tutorial. You are right, the links are too many right now.
Thanks for the response. Looking forward to the improvement.
OK, changed the behaviour. I have outlined the default behaviour by adding a “recommended” tag to the option. An update will be available on January 30th. Contact me via email if you want the plugin earlier.
Hi I have updated the plugin so that the link to the source image no longer shows however it is showing ‘From: Wordpress’ in the Email header with the email address wordpress@____.com. How do I change this to show the sender’s email address instead?
Thanks
I wrote a note in the plugin’s page: Note: Use Mail From II plugin (free) in order to set your own sender name and email address! http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-mailfrom-ii/
I can’t really tell if this is what I want. I don’t want to pay to use the demo or take a risk on buying more software that doesn’t work for me. I looked at the screenshots but from that I don’t see where the images come from, if I can direct it to the files I want. Anyway, other things I would have liked to know. But, simpler to just pass on it, for now.
You don’t have to pay to use the demo. I have removed the payment option, so you can properly test it now.
Hi there,
I’m looking for a plug-in so I could sell ecards using woocommerce. I’d like to have it so the message can be created by the user/buyer. Can this plug-in do that?
here’s an example of what I mean: https://www.kintera.org/site/c.keJNIWOvElH/b.6554443/k.AF26/Electronic_Certificate_Store/apps/ka/mt/chooseCard.asp?c=keJNIWOvElH&b=6554443&en=kvL1J6NPJhKOJ4OOLiKUKbNYJoJ9ImOYImI0IcPWJhJRI6MWIzFDid you see the demo? It allows the user to enter a personalized message.
yes, I saw that. but will it work with woo-commerce? if so, how?
Well, it works on its own, I’m not sure it will work with WooCommerce. I’m trying to implement a PayPal payment method, but if you want to integrate it with WooCommerce, you may need to modify the PHP code and add WooCommerce specific functions.
if you have it working with paypal, that’s good enough
It’s still in development phase, 70% ready. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get a BETA version by January 15th. Maybe you can help me test it.
Hello, I get this error. Notice: Use of undefined constant ROOFW_VERSION – assumed ‘ROOFW_VERSION’ in /localurl/website-2/wp-content/plugins/ecards/wp-ecards.php on line 31
In addition to that th attached images do not apper on the page.
I hope you could respond quick. Thanks
Hello, I know about that error, it should be fixed in the next version. Also, what do you mean the images do not appear? Did you upload them to that page?
OK, fixed.
How you I get the ecard update? Thanks!
If you have purchased it (not via the Holiday Bundle) then go to your Downloads section. If not, you need to purchase it again, and you will have free updates forever.
hi
wow nice plugin. I hope in the fututure buddypress users can share video post cards with pre defined templates.
Hi, I got this plugin a few days ago and I’m pretty pleased so far. The settings are nice and straightforward in the newest version.
But I noticed that anything I put in as a message to be included with eCards are included with ALL eCards. Is there a way to set a specific message for each eCard? Maybe pulled in from the image description in the media settings or something? Because all my eCards are about different subjects and it wouldn’t make sense for all of them to have the same message.
Thanks!
There is one unique email message, and the one added by the user. You can’t have specific messages for each eCard.
Actually, I got it working by using get_post_field to access the caption (“excerpt”) of the attachment chosen. So thanks for making your code very easy to read!
Great plugin – everything works like a dream.
Only minor issue is the same ecard being sent out 2-3 times. Have observed that you are working on a fix – any timeframe please?
Thank you. Next week should be ready. There appears to be a conflict.
Do you, by any chance, use Jetpack?
