Hello Support ! Pre-Sales question :

I’m Using Fluent Form + Fluent CRM, to create a Form where my client will need to Upload Files.

Basically, we will send a Contact List an automation email to ask each of the contacts to Fill up a form, which will be a File Upload Form.

and I need to Implement DropBox Storage, so we can automatically send a copy of the uploaded files into our DROPBOX company Account.

My Form aims to be as simple as possible, like a Wetransfer.com kind of form…

I will need to automatically setup new Folders in DROPBOX for each contacts, form this form, such as :

a Tradeshowname / a Company Name + Booth Number.

I see this is apparently possible with you r solution ?

But how does it works ? :

- Do we need the users to fill up fields, upon which the folders will be created ?

- Or do these folders / subfolders creation is working with data from GET PARAM or else ?

idea is to provide users a link like this :

https://domain.com/upload_form/?event=mipcom?company=google?booth=90

To be more specific, i’m setting up this form for multiple events (trade shows), each event has it’s how list of contact, each contact is a company and Booth number.

So in the End, on the DropBox account we need to a structure Like this :

/2026 – Event A /Company Name + Booth n°. /Company Name + Booth n°. /Company Name + Booth n°.

/2026 Event B /Company Name + Booth n°. /Company Name + Booth n°. /Company Name + Booth n°.

2027 Event C /Company Name + Booth n°. /Company Name + Booth n°. /Company Name + Booth n°.

Is this doable ?

>> Also, is it possible to automatically Add text to the filenames ?

Best regards & Many Thanks

Hi, thanks for the clear question, and yes, this is doable.

You’ll want the folder / naming values present as form fields in Fluent Forms (e.g. event, company, booth). The plugin can use those field values to create the target folder structure in your Dropbox account and save each upload into the correct subfolder (so you get /2026 – Event A / Company + Booth / ...). You can find a how-to for dynamically setting the upload location in the online documentation.

You can also add text to uploaded filenames (prefixes/suffixes or full rename) using the module’s File Rename, prefixes & suffixes settings on the Upload tab. Those can be dynamic too, so you can include the company or booth in the filename.

Pre-filling Fluent Form fields from URL query parameters depends on Fluent Forms itself (many form builders allow it, but please check Fluent Forms’ docs). If Fluent Forms supports prefill from GET params, you can send links like https://domain.com/upload_form/?event=mipcom&company=google&booth=90 and the plugin will use those form values to build the Dropbox folder path.

If you need help with setting up the correct configuration for the upload module, please create a support ticket and I will be happy to assist you.

I have asked Google Gemini this question about your plugin and got this answer. It is correct? I need to use your plugin to create a community website where a slider can show a few slides from a sports clubs dropbox account and each business show an advert in the same slider from their own dropbox account. I know I asked you something similar before. The question would also apply to your Google version.

Yes, the “Out-of-the-Box” Dropbox plugin for WordPress allows you to show files in a slider from multiple Dropbox accounts. The plugin is built to manage multiple cloud accounts simultaneously, which is a key feature for displaying aggregated content. How to use multiple accounts for a slider

Link your accounts: Within your WordPress admin dashboard, navigate to Out-of-the-Box > Settings. Use the "Add account" button to link each Dropbox account you wish to include in your slider.
Use the shortcode builder: When creating or editing a page, use the plugin's Shortcode Builder.
Create your shortcode: Configure your slider, selecting folders from the various Dropbox accounts you have linked to the plugin. The Shortcode Builder will automatically generate the correct code to pull files from these multiple sources into a single slider.

You can indeed link multiple Dropbox (or Google Drive) accounts in the plugin, and each account can have its own connected folder or module on your site. However, the slider itself can only display images from a single folder at a time. That means you can’t combine images from multiple Dropbox or Google Drive accounts into one unified slider. Instead, you would need to create separate slider modules for each account or folder.

Also, the slider is designed to show images only — it doesn’t include any built-in advert functionality.

I hope that answers your question and feel free to test the plugin on both Front-End and Back-End via the demo website in the link below.

hi i´m using ACF for add a direct download from your plugin but i cannot achieve to show in elementor, do you have any documents or tip, i´m kind a lostt here thanks.

Thanks — good question!

You’re right: there isn’t a convenient built-in way to pull the ACF field download link into Elementor using Elementor’s Dynamic Fields today.

I can help by adding the plugin’s own Elementor dynamic field for the plugin. That will let you pick the ACF field as a dynamic source (for example in the Link setting of an Elementor Button) so the button will link to the file.

If you want that, please open a quick support ticket and I’ll send you an updated plugin build with the Elementor dynamic-field added — so you won’t have to wait for the next public release. I’ll include short instructions on how to use it in Elementor.

Thank you, sent :)

Hello Floris! I’m just sending a friendly ‘nudge’ as you suggested upon my ticket submission on 7/31. I’m looking forward to your reply – the client’s product & file download launch was 8/1, so we are anxious to solve the issue. I had also sent a follow up email to the original ticket submission on 7/31.

Thank you in advance! Elaine

Thanks for your quick reply, Floris. I will try changing that setting in the meantime. We are only using the plugin for digital downloads. Thank you. I’m sure you have a lot of open cases to wade through. Appreciate your time and will keep you posted if I am able to do a successful test purchase/download.

Update: I changed the setting to Redirect and did a test purchase. I was able to download about 1/3rd of the zipped package, which was more than the previous tests, but it stopped downloading and was marked Failed.

Thanks for the update! I have replied to your support ticket.

WP Cloud Plugins Fully test both Front-End and Back-End of the WP Cloud Plugins Documentation Create Support Ticket

Hello,

I’m considering purchasing the Out-of-the-Box plugin for our media production agency website and would like to confirm whether the plugin fully supports our intended use case:

We want to create a secure client portal on our WordPress website, where:

- Each client logs into their own WordPress account - After logging in, they are taken to a shared page (e.g., /my-files) - Based on the logged-in user, the plugin automatically displays only their assigned Dropbox folder - Clients can view, preview, and download their files (photos, videos, documents, etc.) - Ideally, everything should be displayed directly on our site – not redirecting to Dropbox

Additionally:

- Can we style the file view (e.g., dark layout, custom buttons) to match our brand? - Can clients also upload files to their folder from that same interface?

Does your plugin support this kind of setup using the User Folders feature with Elementor?

And is the Regular License sufficient for this scenario, since everything runs on a single website used only by our clients?

Thank you very much for your response!

Lukas

Hi Lukas,

Thanks for your questions! And yes, the plugin fully supports the setup you described. Here’s how it works:

Client-specific folders
Using the Personal Folders feature in auto mode, the plugin will automatically show each logged-in client only their assigned Dropbox folder on a shared page (like /my-files). No manual setup per user is required and the plugin can automatically create the Personal folder if it doesn’t yet exist. You can also connect user manually to their folder if needed. If you need assistance with configuring your Personal Folders, simply open a support ticket and we will be happy to help!

Direct file access on your site
Clients can view, preview, and download files—photos, videos, documents—directly on your website without being redirected to Dropbox. You can check which file formats have preview support via the Comparison table

Uploads from the same interface
Yes, you can allow clients to upload files into their own folder via the same interface when you enable the ‘Upload’ action.

Styling options
You can choose between light and dark mode and customize the color palette to match your brand. However, there are no built-in settings to change individual buttons or layout components. For more control, you can apply custom CSS.

License information
Regular License: If the plugin is used on publicly accessible, free sections of your site.
Extended License: Required when the plugin is used on parts of your site accessible only to paying users (e.g., via memberships, subscriptions, services or product purchases).

So the key distinction is that the Extended License serves as a commercial license. If your company generates revenue by offering services that incorporate the Out-of-the-Box plugin as part of the offering, you’ll need this license. For free services, the Regular License is sufficient.

I hope this answers your questions! And feel free to test the plugin on both Front-End and Back-End via the demo website in the link below.

WP Cloud Plugins Fully test both Front-End and Back-End of the WP Cloud Plugins Documentation Create Support Ticket

Thank you Floris for your response!

hello, im using cf7 alongside with your plugin. How can i allow public file download of the uploaded file? For example, when the form is submitted, i send mails to different partners depending the category. However, in their inbox, they receive the link of the file like it is on their own dropbox account. I want to give public access to those uploaded files/folders and be able for him to see the url directly without requiring him to login to dropbox. Is it possible?

By default, the list of uploaded files in your Contact Form 7 email will be a Dropbox preview link. You can change this to a public view link or a download link via the plugin settings. To do so, go to the ‘Integrations’ tab on the main plugin settings page, and open the ‘Form Integrations’ section. In the List Template (HTML) setting, change the %file_cloud_preview_url% placeholder to %file_cloud_shared_url% or %file_download_url%. Your Contact Form 7 email will then contain a shared link to the file on Dropbox, or a direct download link.

I hope that helps!

Hi thank you for the answer, but i dont see the list template html setting in forms intergrations. I dont see it either on documentation. In the Intergrations, i can only enable/disable the plugin intergrations i want, url shortener, social sharing buttons, video advertisments.

Just to be sure, are you using an up-to-date Out-of-the-Box plugin version (e.g. 3.2.5)? There should be a ‘Form Integrations’ section next to the ‘Url Shortener’ and ‘Social Sharing Buttons’ (documentation).

If you’re running the latest version of the plugin and still don’t see these options, please submit a support ticket using the link below and I’ll have a look at it!

Hello, I just want to let you know that there is a conflict between this plugin to the wp-glossary plugin (https://codecanyon.net/item/wp-glossary-encyclopedia-lexicon-knowledge-base-wiki-dictionary/16101768). The files no longer display when the wp-glossary plugin is used.

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with this plugin combination. Please feel free to submit a support ticket using the link below if you would like us to investigate this for you!

Thanks for the quick reply, I had just created a staging website & sent you credentials on the support ticket.

I want to publicly thank you for the very quick responses here & on the support ticket & say I truly appreciate your serious attitude, which is rare nowadays. You provide one of the best support I met in the past 20 years & you did it also with other issues I had in the past with other plugins that I purchased from you. Well done. Thanks again.

I would like to use your plugin with Contact Form 7 in a multi step form. Is your plugin compatible with this plugin? https://wordpress.org/plugins/cf7-multi-step/

The plugin is not compatible with this multi-step addon for Contact Form 7 unfortunately. It works fine if the upload field is present on the last step, but not on earlier steps.

- Floris

WP Cloud Plugins Fully test both Front-End and Back-End of the WP Cloud Plugins Documentation Create Support Ticket

Follow up question. is your plugin compatible with the conditional logic of this plugin? https://wordpress.org/plugins/cf7-conditional-fields/

Example use – no multi step form Create a required input of your upload module and put it inside a conditional logic/group and is shown when a checkbox is checked.

will it continue to submit the form if the checkbox is unchecked and the upload is empty and hidden or will still prompt for a required field error?

If the conditional logic added by this addon hides the required upload field, the form will submit if it is empty. So although I haven’t tested it, this should work.

hi think that from version 3 your outofthebox shortcode breask the html output of wpbarky tab widget. This issue is clearly visible when outofthebox shortcode is placed in the first tab: content of the second tab is displayed with outofthebox content. has someone the same problem? issue verified with only default wp theme + last wpbarky release tools activated.

I haven’t received any similar reports yet, so if you would like me to take a closer look at this issue, please feel free to open a support ticket using the link below so that I can investigate!

Hi, since the recent update the account isn’t linked anymore. And I cannot relink of add a new account. When I click the ‘add account’ button, dropbox is giving this message instead (see below). Please let me know if this is a problem for my website only and I need support, in that case I will renew my support. I am using the latest wordpress version 6.7.1.

“Error (400) It seems the app you were using submitted a bad request. If you would like to report this error to the app’s developer, include the information below.

More details for developers

Invalid redirect_uri: “https://www.wpcloudplugins.com:443/out-of-the-box/_AuthorizeApp.php”: It must exactly match one of the redirect URIs you’ve pre-configured for your app (including the path).”

This is issue occurs when you are using a custom Dropbox App, which isn’t configured to work properly with the plugin (anymore). In this case the oAuth 2.0 Redirect URI doesn’t match the url that is required by the plugin.

There are two ways to solve this:
  1. You can disable the custom App configuration in the plugin configuration and use the plugin’s default App instead. You can disable this via the [Advanced]-[API Application] section on the main plugin options page.
  2. Or you can change your App configuration in your Dropbox developer console so that it uses the listed oAuth 2.0 url.

If this doesn’t resolve the issue for you, feel free to just create a support ticket for this. I will have a look at it straight away.

With the recent update my folder filters have stopped working – before I could show specific folders to different user roles, now those filters have stopped any content from showing. I am using shortcodes placed directly on my pages.

As a work-around I am having to show all folders to all users at the moment, but I need the filtering system to work. Has something changed that I need to modify in my shortcodes?

Thanks – great plugin!

Thanks for reaching out! I am not sure exactly how you are using the plugin, so feel free to open a support ticket using the link below so I can check your filters.

how can i make a button woth direct download as a free digital product withou cheekout in elementor

The plugin does not currently have a simple ‘download’ button for you to add to your pages, but this will be added in version 3.0, which will be rolled out over the next week. If you would like to get this version now, you can submit a support ticket using the link below.

By the way, if you use WooCommerce, you can also use a plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/download-now-for-woocommerce/ to let your customers download digital products without a checkout. So that might be a solution as well.

Hello

I have the following question. can I also display only the most recent PDF in a folder?, in addition, page 2 should always be the thumbnail for these PDFs. Does that work?

Thank you

Thanks for your questions!

(1) can I display only the most recent PDF in a folder?
Yes, you can sort the contents of the folders by ‘last modified’ and have the plugin show only the first (x) files.

(2) page 2 should always be the thumbnail for these PDFs. Does that work?
No, that’s not something the Out-of-the-Box plugin can do. The plugin simply uses the thumbnails provided by the Dropbox API for that file, and it has no way of controlling how that thumbnail is generated.

With the gravity forms integration. Is it possible to allow users to right click on the link (after submitting the form) and download the file without being taken to dropbox first? I’ve tested the functionality in the dev environment and no matter how I set it up it always redirects to dropbox and then you have to download it from there. There doesn’t seem to be any way to generate a link that allows you to right click and download. If you right click it and do “save file as” it is always a .htm file. It’s just an un-necessary second step and if you have multiple uploaders on the same form… it would be very time-consuming to be redirected to dropbox every single time.

Thank you for your question! At the moment, the links stored in the form submission are always links to the file on Dropbox itself.

However, more people have been asking for similar changes, so in one of the next updates you will be able to customise how the uploaded files are rendered in a form submission, and then choose to use a direct link instead if that is preferred for your use case.

The ETA for the update containing this change is likely to be in ~1 month from now.

That would be fabulous. I was able to make a work-around with jquery to display a direct download link using the google drive plugin instead of dropbox since they have a more predicatble file/link scheme. If I can request one additional option for your consideration. Having the text: “1 file(s) uploaded to” be optional would be great as we don’t allow our users to access the parent folders so when they click on that link it just takes them to an error page.

Got it! You will be able to change the complete text of the field rendering so that it will indeed include the text with the link to the parent folder. Thank you for your advice!

how to embed a pdf and not let users download it. Just view access

The embed action can only embed the raw PDF file into your site, as the Dropbox API doesn’t have read-only preview functionality.

However, if you need a read-only solution and your documents are smaller than 25MB, I may be able to create a solution using another previewer. Feel free to create a support ticket if this is something you would like to try.

Thanks for the response it seems to be working now thank you

I love your product and have a pre-sales question for another website.

I need to get video with description information via smartphones uploaded to dropbox or some other cloud storage system that you support. Don’t want customers to have to buy cloud subscriptions to give us files.

I could load these files to wordpress and use my license to get the files to dropbox to use your awesome system. My users don’t have computers at their work sites so my problem is uploading somewhere with descriptions without a browser. I can make gravity forms but same problem on just a smartphone. Any suggestions? We have to edit the files before use so using our license to save to dropbox is not a problem.

Thanks for your question!

This item is a WordPress plugin, so if your users can’t access a browser with their device you will not be able to use this solution. So I am not sure I can offer you a solution.

However, if you’re planning to mainly use the plugin to upload content to the cloud and you can use a different cloud provider, I’d suggest going for the OneDrive/SharePoint or Google Drive version. Their API lets you upload files directly quickly without any size limits, whereas Dropbox only offers fast uploads of up to 300 MB. On top of that, Google Drive and OneDrive Personal (free) let you add file descriptions.

With those plugin versions, you can add Upload Box module(s) on your WordPress site to let your users upload content to a specific cloud location via their device. They can add file descriptions to the file directly in the upload queue.

Does that answer your question? If not, or if I’ve got it wrong, just let me know!

Is there any reason why the plugin won’t sync to Dropbox for newly added content (either a Dropbox issue or Plugin issue)? Existing folders and files in Dropbox are showing on the website, as they should, but newly added files aren’t. The Plugin is up-to-date (Version 2.13.2) – status report is fine – plugin has been working without issue for 4 years.

Thanks for your question!

There are currently no known synchronisation issues with the latest version of the plugin. So if you do encounter problems with this, please create a support ticket via the link below and I will gladly have a closer look at it.

BTW, if you are adding new content via Dropbox software or other 3rd party Apps, make sure that the new content appear ‘instantly’ on dropbox.com. This is to make sure that are no sync problems with the software itself.
