Hi there, I just wanted to say that latest update breaks consent setup. I get the correct variables set in the dataLayer con consent_status change, but GA4 gets only analytics storage green, while other consents aren’t allowed. I am managing to setup a workaround buy giving consent in a custom js snippet. I wanted to open a ticket to report this bug, since our visits dropped like 99% after that, but unfortunately my support has expired.

Are there plans to support “WP Consent API”? Or is this not necessary anymore just because of Consent Mode 2? I’m asking, because the Google plugin Site Kit is supporting WP Consent API in Settings.

WP Content API is I think something Google is supporting – it seems to be an important plugin for Google. Google added this in their Site Kit Analytics plugin for Wordpress. No idea. In your plugin I can see “Consent Mode 2” support, but nothing with this API. Thanks for your answer – you can’t support it, when you don’t know this.
Yeah sorry we only support the new consent mode v2 which is now a required standard.

My site has a main domain (maindomain.com) and subdomains (sub1.maindomain.com, etc.) with other Wordpress installations. Question: If I access the main site, accepts the cookies, and then go to a subdomain, will the cookie pop-up be displayed again?

You can define that yourself where the accept cookies will be saved. On Domain or subdomain level.
The acceptance must occur on the landing domain/subdomain and no further requests must be made on other subdomains. If the visit arrives at sub1.domain.com, it cannot be requested on sub2.domain.com or vice versa.

When a user clicks on FORGET ME will it just inform us so we can manually remove from wordpress, or it will delete user from website?
It will inform you and you can / should delete that user data manually.
This wanted you to know that there’s another major bug in the plugin. This bug will delete your administrator account.
So, how to reproduce? If you log in as an administrator, go into Consent Log, and click “Delete Data” expecting the process to delete only data relating to GDPR You’ll be surprised as it will delete your administrator account, and you won’t be able to log in next time you try to log into your website.
You should probably put some warning or explanation there because, click that and you lose access to your website, not a thing you would like to happen.
My suggestion, give a stern warning of what’s gonna happen if the user has any permission level over a “Subscriber” permission level.

Two questions, In the expert area you have a way to turn on “Use GEO IP to show Popup only for EU”
1. When you say EU do you mean all countries in the EEA (European Economic Area)?
there are different amount of countries between EU member states and the European Economic Area, while the GDPR is relevant to the entire European Economic Area. Is it only EU or the entire EEA?
2. Can we have another checkbox underneath it to activate the it in additional Countries/States using two letters ISO codes?
Since there are similar GDPR requirements in some other countries, such as Italy, Germany, and even California, It would be great to have the ability to enter those areas, ISO codes, directly in an input box as regulations change across countries over time.

I see. If you’re using only the EU countries then it means it is not in compliance with the GDPR. GDPR is for the entire European Economic Area, Not only EU countries.
That basically means that everyone using this plugin that turned on the show only in the EU automatically broke compliance (part of the countries are missing).
in the setting itself, the title says WordPress GDPR & CCPA, but if you turn on the “Use GEO IP to show Popup only for EU”, you’ll effectively be breaking your CCPA compliance.
bottom line at the current version of the plugin. It is only compliant if turned on globally.
That’s why I recommended you add something to control for that, but that’s your choice. Currently Like I said this plugin is only relevant if you intend to turn it on globally. The way this feature is currently implemented will break your compliance.

I see you’ve commented that adding California is not possible, but assuming that you’re using the free MaxMind GeoLite2 (which I seen in previous comments), than the difference between a country code (ISO 3166-1 codes), and a regional code (ISO 3166-2) that are both supported is a “-CA”
Example if the ISO code for the US is “US” the ISO code of California state would simply be “US-CA”

There is another bug.
In the cookie settings, if you click the save button, without changing any settings, it will not save your preference. After refreshing the page, the popup will trigger again. only after adjusting any of the settings and saving it will actually perform the save and will not ask you again after a refresh.

Just wanted to say great Plug-in. There seems to be a bug in the custom CSS area, Some entries that are entered there are not even showing up in the dev console.
Had to move the same custom CSS outside of the plugin and it works fine.
A few other things, 1. if there are shortcodes that can be used with the plugin, they’re not documented in your documentation.
2. The ability to use a custom link to open the privacy pop-up is documented in one paragraph somewhere in the documentation. It’s very hard to find. I would consider expanding it to a few paragraphs, and change the title to start with a “how”
