Hi.
Your latest update works fine, but the “Send Ecard” button is now almost invisible, and just plain text. Is ther eany way to make it a button again? og put a frame around it with CSS or something? Thanks.
Check out eCards -> Settings, where you can set the colours for your button.
Presale question:
I want my visitors to create card (use predefined images on website, modifications like text) and share a Link to their friends & family without sending an email.
Is it possible now using this plugin?
Cheers
No, it is not possible. eCards can only be sent via email.
Hi, I want to use the plugin in an existing website, with already existing posts with single featured image for every post. Reading the documentation it says that i have to upload an image to make it work. is there a function code that i could add to wordpress to make it work with featured images ? in my case, you understand that i can’t reupload this images if they already exist ! Thanks in advance for your time.
Hi.
You don’t need to reupload images, you can supply the featured image ID in the eCard shortcode.
See this tutorial – https://getbutterfly.com/faq/how-to-use-ids-for-specific-ecard-images/
I definetely missed this tutorial
Thanks a lot
You are welcome!
I have set this up in my wordpress site,
After I click send, i get the success message that the eCard was send but the recipient does not receive the card.
How do I fix this?
Here is a link to the page: https://www.go4.io/?ecard_collection=at-month-2024-ecards#Thank you in advance! -Brian
Hi Brian,
I cannot help with email sending, as this is an internal issue. What you can do is investigate why. I use the Post SMTP plugin on all my websites and I can check the email log if something is not working. You can also try any other email logging plugin (there are lots out there) to check for errors.
Basically, email sending depends on your server configuration.
What you need is a correct SPF DNS record, and, if you cannot send emails directly from your web server, then you need an SMTP solution.
I use Post SMTP + SendGrid (which has a free plan).
Let me know how it goes.
Hi, is there possibility to show the card on the page? I see the plugin is creating a page, but is there some way I can put the link to that page in the email? Now the email is linking straight to the attached image.
Hi.
The eCards generated are for internal use only.
The link should take you back to the eCard page where you have the form.
Would you like to see just the image in a new tab?
Hi, i have a single image in every post, is it possible to use the ecard shortcode that way ? Also any recommendation for an email service that accept sending ecards ?
Thanks
Yes, it is possible.
A recommendation would be SendGrid. I am using it on 200+ websites for 100% email deliverability.
Note that you can send the eCards directly, but you need a correct SPF record.
Thanks a lot for your answers, one last question : I want to offer this service for free. And i want to add a button in the email template to offer the recipient the opportunity to unsubscribe. That way the next time someone wants to send him an ecard, it won’t be sent. Can this be done via your plugin or via the emailing service ?
You are welcome.
N, it is not possible. I am not saving the emails anywhere, so I cannot check if the receiver is a specific email.
I am trying to keep the plugin in line with GDPR, so I am not storing any personal information.
I don’t know where to write on Butterfly homepage is written- send email, here is written, that author is only answering on this page, so I use both ways.
I have some questions: 1. Is the Ecards plugin compatible with a Divi theme? 2. I need 1 image on the left and a message form on the right like on 123Greetings.com. Can your plugin do that? 3. Is it possible that the sender will send an e-card and then the receiver will read the message on my e-cards webpage, not in the email, like on 123Greetings.com? 4. What is image ID? Is it the name of the image? Where can I see it?
Thank you.
Hi, this is the main support area.
1. So, eCards is using images uploaded to your Media Library, so it is compatible with the Divi theme. If you use the [ecards id=”1, 2, 3”] shortcode, you can use it anywhere, using any theme.
2. It cannot do that, unless you use custom CSS in your theme. There is no option to do that, although I agree it would be nice to have an option.
3. No. The message is private, and it only goes in the email. I’m not sure how saving the message on the server would work, while protecting the privacy of the messages.
4. The ID is the ID of the image in Media Library. If you open any image in the Media Library editor, you’ll see the ID in the URL.
Regarding number 2, I will add it to the list, and I may include it in the next release.
Hi! Thanx for answers. 1. Please visit 123Greetings.com and send a ecard to yourself, to see how to make ecards plugin properly. 2. About privacy. 123Greetings.com puts every message on custom URL, so only sender and receiver can see it. Do the same.
Hi, you’re welcome.
This is a WordPress plugin. It doesn’t have to work the same as 123Greetings.
Hello! The scheduled delivery is not unfortunately working. I had to go manually change the status from Sheduled to Published – that is when the eCards were delivered. Please check, so that we can use the Scheduled function in the future. I’ll be happy to assist you and provide the URL, just send a message. Thanks!
Hey Andy!
This is not a plugin feature. Changing from scheduled to published is a WordPress feature. Make sure your CRON is working properly.
I will also double-check on my side to see if everything is working as it should.
Hi. I just bought the plugin, and it works fine. I am really missing the option to send ecard in messenger. Is it possible to make a “send in messenger” along with the “Send email” button?
If you can code that, I would happily add it to the plugin. I don’t think it’s possible, though, as the plugin is coded in PHP and Messenger is a separate app.
Like I said, if you can code that, I would happily add it to the plugin. I am open to any contribution.
It is not possible, though, using PHP and/or JavaScript.
Hi, it only works with Paypal? Can you add also MERCADOPAGO gateway payment? Which would be the cost? Thanks, Francisco
You can use Easy Digital Downloads or WooCommerce to put the eCards behind any payment gateway.
This plugin only sends eCards, it does not process any payments.
Can I ask you a budget for custom code? Can you add PayPal payment so the user creates the card, pays with PayPal and then sends it? Thanks
I don’t know how much a developer would ask for in your region.
If you can’t find a local one, I suggest Envato Elements, maybe.
I will ask in freelancer.com. Aren´t you interested in modfying the plugin, add Paypal payment again and I pay you?
No, I don’t do custom development work. I stopped a long time ago. I’m only fixing bugs and keeping the plugin up to date
Hi, I purchased this plugin today but the ‘Settings’ page just gives an error saying ‘Sorry you are not allowed to access this page’. I’ve uninstalled it, reinstalled. Removed the Lite version. To no avail.
Can someone help sort this? Or let me know how I can get a refund? Have reverted to using the Lite version again.
Can you confirm you had the Pro version only active and the Lite inactive?
Also, sometimes with WordPress plugins, due to a conflict or a fatal error, at the moment you try to access a certain page, the plugin gets disabled, and you get the ‘Sorry you are not allowed to access this page’ error message.
Can you enable debug mode and let me know if there are any errors related to this plugin?
https://wordpress.org/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/Hi, yes that is correct. Pro only active.
No errors in the log reference ‘ecards’.
I tried this plugin on a fresh install WP and the same issue occurred.
Can someone help resolve this? O explain how I get a refund?
HI, I managed to get this working. Is there any way to set a custom ‘From name’ for this plugin? It would be idea if emails arrived from the recipient not the website
Yes, you can use any of these plugins: WP Mail From II, YaySMTP or Post SMTP.
Hi, How can I setup a woocommerce subscription: Ie subscription to send 1 eCards subscription to send 5 eCards subscription to send 10 eCards subscription to send 20 eCards
I don’t know, I don’t use WooCommerce. I assume you need a payment gateway.
I am trying to figure out how to add categories to e-cards as well as new e-cards. no matter what I try it doesn’t let me add my own e-cards. and the codes are really wacky. there’s no way to get it to pick up new pictures. I upload pictures to my media library and attempted to replace the numbers with image file names. I have had zero luck with this. I cant add new e-cards to save my own life. what the hell does 1,2,3,4,5 pull from? why doesnt it work for other media files? it obviously does not pick up from the media library.
[ecard id=”1, 2, 3, 4, 5”]
how do I make it display images from the media library?
35934073-d967-4500-88f7-4390a1bbdcf6 – 29 Oct 2022 REGULAR LICENSE
Also another thing. Your categories are horrible. why are there no categories? why can’t I add new e-cards through through the new menu, you should make it so you can just click new , then e-card, so you can actually add e-cards? whats the point of a e-card plugin you cant add new e-cards or categories to?
First, there are no categories for eCards.
Second, you upload images to your Media Library, and then reference them by ID. All images (posts, pages, custom post types) have an ID. So, when you want to create a new eCard, you create a post or a page, and add the shortcode.
Third, if you want categories, you create posts (with categories) or pages (with child pages) and categorize your eCards like that. Hope this gets you on the right track.
I need to create a step-by-step tutorial on adding eCards.
Dear Ciprian Popescu,
I use your eCards Lite pugin and I very satisfiad with this. But I have some posts where the puólugin doesn’t works properly. I would be very grateful if you could hep me what should I do solve that.
At this post, the plugin works:https://kepeslapkiraly.hu/krisztina-nevnap-kepeslap/
At this one, the same domain, but is doesn’t work properly: https://kepeslapkiraly.hu/nevnap-kepeslap-noknek/
Br, Laszlo
Hi Laszlo,
I have sent myself an eCard and it worked. What do you mean by “doesn’t work properly”?
Hi Ciprian,
I tried out the method I read in the comments about image IDs. It works. Without that, it doesn’t work on the posts.
Thank you for the response!
It probably doesn’t work because the images are not attached to the actual post. This is the new block editor behaviour. With image IDs, it will always work. I’m glad you fixed it.
Could you please show me a working example of the ecart plugin working?
Sure, there it is – https://getbutterfly.com/faq/how-to-use-ids-for-specific-ecard-images/
hi, A simple suggestion, is to add an unsubscribe page. where users who received an unwanted email/ecard can choose to not receive emails in the future from the website anymore. The email will be add to a blacklist list.
True, sounds good. It would help with spam. I’ll put it on my list.
How can I turn off comments on the Post that the ecard makes? I want comments on my blog posts so I can’t turn off comments from main WP. Is this possible?
The eCards are private, so you don’t need to turn off comments.
However, if you really want to do (technically speaking), you can duplicate your single.php or singular.php template to single-ecard.php, and remove the comments code.
ok I have created single-ecard.php now how does the card know to use that template? Build the eCard Collection on the same template?
This is a WordPress feature. The eCard is a custom post type, and you can override post types by creating templates, such as:
- single-post.php
- single-page.php
- single-ecard.php
- single-product.php
And WordPress will automatically pick these up.
I have mailed Ciprian 4 times with clear questions at the indicated email adress: ciprian@getbutterfly.com
But I’m getting zero respones and DO have support included in the purchase.
I’m mailing from the domain @becourageousinnovation.com and maybe it’s ending up in spam, but that’s very unlikely.
Please get back and help me with my questions.
Thank you
There is no email support, everything is done here, via comments, to help other users.
Try to install Post SMTP plugin (free) and check the email log to see the send diagnostic. It will probably give you the reason.
I have just sent an eCard to myself right now, and I received it instantly.
Demo keeps crashing with a Critical Error…does this plugin still work? If so can I also add text to a card or only an image?
What is the error? It’s working perfectly for me – https://getbutterfly.com/demos/ecards-demo/
You are right. I have fixed the error now. The plugin is being actively maintained, and I am fixing any errors (such as this one) whenever reported. My current website demo setup is WordPress 6.0.1 on PHP 8.1 (the latest version).
THANKS! And final question is there an area to add text anywhere or only the image? Not text that the person can enter and say but text that we can add with the image that is not in the image like a poem or other card like sayings?
Yes, you can add text, that will appear in the email. When you open the eCard image, you can’t see the text, though.
So is there no way to add different text per image? Seems like I can only do one set of text for all images, is that correct? Similar to a regular card where the images say one thing and text can be added to it as in the text inside a regular card? So birthday wishes vs christmas wishes?
The cards are images only, and the users can add their customized message. So, you can keep the eCards images generic, say birthday vs Christmas, and let the users add their words.
I bought this plugin, about a month ago, I wrote to the author for assistance and possible customization, not being a webmaster, I never received a reply.
Hi, we are not available for custom work. Please reply any bugs here and we’ll provide assistance.
Ok, thanks for your reply, unfortunately I can’t get it to work on my site, it doesn’t display the ecards and when I try to send them, it doesn’t show where to download the card sent. I’m sorry she can’t customize it, I’ll have to look for a customizable plugin for my needs. Thank you
Can I see a sample post, and how you attached the image to that post?
I uploaded the image from my PC, and I did a test submission. Where can I send a photo, it gives me an email address to attach it to
How did you upload the image from your PC? Where? Inside the “Add Media” section?
Or, if you uploaded it to the Media Library, you need to use the image ID, like in this example – https://getbutterfly.com/faq/how-to-use-ids-for-specific-ecard-images/
Ok, I’ll try
Okay, it works, but I realize that’s not what I need. Thanks for the support Greetings from Italy
Okay, no problem!
