This suppose to show in post as its not allowed to use post if source is not there. We are talking about to show the name of source and date and author name because in USA we must put that to use this legally.

Thats not what I am ask. We have to at least put where did we get it from, for example (URL of the source) or at least Domain of the source or the TItle of the website. These things must show legally. So how do I turn this on?

Yes, the plugin supports also specify a search query string for which you will query posts. This can be done using the ‘Post Search Query’ settings field from importing rule settings.

For example, you will be able to query all posts which contain in their title the word ‘Apple’.

Yes, this is possible, you will be able to filter posts by their category ID, using the ‘Search Posts By Category ID’ settings field from plugin settings.

I checked and this site uses JavaScript to dynamically load its posts content.

By default, no PHP based scraper (or WordPress plugin) can scrape this kind of content (because of technology related limitations), however, the Echo RSS plugin can be combined with headless browsers, like puppeteer or phantomjs (which needs to be installed on your server). These will render the pages and return the full content of articles and the plugin will be able to import them.

If you don’t wish to install anything on your server (or you are not allowed by hosting limitations), the plugin can be also combined with HeadlessBrowserAPI, to achieve similar results, but without the need to set up additional extensions on your server.

I checked the site using the API and this site besides of rendering JavaScript content has also a bot verification, which is blocking page scraping from their side.

So, scraping content from this site currently will not work, because of their scraping security measures.

I need to work on HeadlessBrowserAPI to add to it a feature to be able to also solve captchas. This is planned for future updates for the API, sorry for the inconvenience that it is not working at the moment for this specific site.

No, neither with puppeteer, the site’s bot detection is activated also for it.

They block new IP addresses which appear to access their site from unknown sources. I need to check on this in more detail.

Hey. Sorry for bothering you again. 2 questions. First I believe that if I’ll set 0 to schedule that it will simply not run the cronjob, correct? Also I would like to add a button to “Posts” “scrape from…” and when I click on it, it will automaticly starts scraping. Is there any chance that I would be able to start scraping specific item by URL? like admin.php?page=echo_items_panel&echo_id=1 and then it will start scraping. Is it possible?

Oh and I think that fetched articles are not in gutenberg “blocks”. Is there any way to fix it?

1. The schedule cannot be set to 0, the plugin will not accept this value. If you wish to deactivate running of rules, please uncheck the ‘Active’ checkbox from the end of the importing rule row.

2. Adding a “Scrape from…” button to posts is currently not possible, but it sounds like an interesting idea, I noted it.

Yes, images are also removed in this case.

So if I’m not mistaken if I want to strip HTML and leave images, it would be better to simply use “Strip HTML Elements by Class” and add classes.

I forgot.. why in Post source I have “Echo_”. Shouldn’t be there an actually source?

The post source field is used internally by the plugin to tell which post is created by which plugin I created/importing rule.

You can ignore that field, it is used only in the plugin’s internal workings.

I checked the video and in my source it doesn’t work properly. I have best results with “Strip HTML From Content” options. It automatically split content into multiple blocks, which is great. The only downside is that I can’t see images. If there would be a way to strip all HTML except images so at least I could know that there should be an image – it would be great. I tried to strip specific classes or ID’s but this way It strip even a content inside that class/id. Any idea?

Well actually I tired now and it was ok this time but I have to force to switch to blocks. By default it was HTML. Also the downside is that everything is one block + HTML classes and styles makes sometimes whole article weirdly formatted.

No worries I can live with strip html from content. I only wish I could get images somehow..

Regarding licenses, you can use a single license of the plugin on a single website/domain. If you wish to use it on multiple sites, you need to purchase multiple licenses of the plugin.
