I am a long-time user of the Echo RSS Feed Post Generator. I am trying to move my license to a new site, but I am unable to activate it because it is still tied to my old domain: oldtamil.com.
The problem is that oldtamil.com has expired and I no longer own it or have access to the WordPress dashboard to deactivate the license manually.
Could you please manually revoke/reset the license for oldtamil.com from your side so I can activate it on my current project? I have my purchase code ready if you need it to verify my account.
I understand my support period is expired, but as this is a license management issue regarding a dead domain, I would appreciate your help in freeing up the activation seat I already paid for.

A sort of pre-sale question.
We have been using your great RSS plugin in combination Aiomatic to translate content and WPML for showing said posts in the correct language. Because we technically show the same posts in different languages (the original, and the ones translated with Aiomatic) we have run into a problem. When the plugin checks for duplicates it only checks the original url, but since we have multiple rules for different languages with the same origin, posts only get imported to one or the other language. We have been able to correct this by modifying your checking-for-duplicates query so, next to the url (echo_post_url) it also checks rule id (echo_parent_rule). This now of course presenting a problem for future updates. Would you consider adding this as an optional feature for a next update of your plugin?

Reason is I am only giving each website admin ability to update existing Posts/Pages I create for them (so as to eliminate them creating short posts and hogging up resources on the server)

The Echo RSS plugin can reimport and update posts from RSS feeds, however, it can update posts which are created by the plugin, it cannot update posts which are created by you.
For this, a custom plugin would be needed to be built.

Yes, this is possible, you can use the [echo-live-rss] shortcode provided by the plugin, which can be added also in a Gutenberg block.

Yes, this can be achieved.
Please set the ‘Limit Article Word Count’ settings field in rule settings to 20. This will keep the first 20 words of the articles. This will also add a “Read More” link to the end of the trimmed articles.
The publishing site name can be added, if you add in the ‘Generated Post Content’ settings field, the name of the site from where the article was imported. Example:
This article was imported from CNN.<br /> %%item_content%%

- Sentiment-Based Filtering: I need to prevent the import of posts that contain negative sentiment about specific brands or keywords. For example, if a post mentions “[Brand Name]” in a negative context (e.g., complaints, criticisms, etc.), the plugin should not import it. Does your plugin offer sentiment analysis or any way to achieve this kind of filtering?
- Post Type Selection and Count: Can I select specific post types for import AND set a maximum number of posts to import per post type per feed? For example, could I import 5 “product” posts and 10 “news” posts from different feeds?
- Auto-Delete: Does this plugin have a true auto-delete function where posts are automatically deleted after a certain time? If so, can this be configured to delete posts after 1 day and how?

2. Currently setting a single target post type per rule is possible, where you can set to import X posts to that specific post type.
3. Auto-deletion is possible, you can set up the plugin to auto delete posts, after any period you specify in its settings (including 1 day).
4. You can set ‘Banned Words’, ‘Required Words’, ‘Required Authors’, ‘Banned Authors’, ‘Banned Categories’, ‘Required Categories’, ‘Post Date Queries’.

Please check if you checked the ‘Enable Post Auto Deletion Feature’ checkbox from the Echo RSS plugin’s ‘Main Settings’ menu -> save settings.

Hi. I am testing out the news.google.com RSS feeds on your Echo test site and the featured images of the articles are not bing pulled. The featured images are just the Google News logos. Is this normal?

In case of Google News, the RSS feed contains a placeholder image instead of the article featured images.
You can still try to import article images from their source, for this, please check the ‘Skip Checking Feed Image’ checkbox in rule settings and save settings.

You also need to check the ‘Try to Get Full Article Content’ checkbox for the images to be imported from the full article content.

Hi, when I import feeds to a post, then edit it, assign a new category and assign an author, all these posts are deleted with the Delete all loaded feeds command. Is there a way to prevent this?

If you did run the ‘Delete all posts’ command manually, than the only way to restore these posts is to restore a backup of your website, which has also the posts included still published. Please contact hosting provider’s support and ask if they have a recent snapshot which they can restore.

Many thanks for the quick reply. My question was, is there a way to prevent or deactivate manual deletion in the settings? Without this function it would be too risky for me.
For example, a function such as ‘Only delete the feeds of the last X hours or days’ would be useful instead of deleting everything at once without a note such as ‘Are you sure you really want to delete all your feeds? This step cannot be undone’.
Another question would be (which I could not test in the demo), what happens to the feeds if the plugin is deleted at some point? Will all the feeds that have been transferred up to that point also be deleted?

No, currently there is no functionality to not delete certain posts which were imporfed using the plugin.
However, if you delete the plugin from your server, all posts which it previously imported will remain published, these will nof be deleted.
So, i recommend you delete the plugin from your server after you are done with importing content.

Hello, we have been using this plugin for years with no issues and it has always worked great! We recently switched to a new server and have noticed the feeds are no longer auto-refreshing. If I manually run the action it works fine. I noticed when hovering over the the question mark icon on the feeds page it says next run is scheduled for 2024-10-08 which is in the past. How can I fix this to have the feeds run every hour automatically again?

This sounds like an issue with wp_cron on your server. To fix this, you need to replace wp_cron with server side cron. To fix this, you will need to replace wp_cron with a server side cron. Please check this page for details on how to do this: https://themeisle.com/blog/disable-wp-cron/
If you don’t know how to make these changes, please contact your hosting provider’s support and ask them to fix wp_cron for your server.
After this is fixed, the plugin will be able to run automatically without issues, as it is using the wp_cron system for the scheduling part, which will be replaced with the server side cron, which is much more trustworthy.
