How to repair that?

That sound like a sharing permission issue. In order to preview files, the files need to have the sharing permission of at least ‘Anyone with link can view’. Could you check if the Manage Permission setting is enabled on the main plugin settings page so the plugin can update the permissions if needed?

Hi, _DeLeeuw!

It’s just some kind of black humor, with every update getting worse and worse. Can you just make a reliable, working plugin for stable downloading files from google drive?

Now it’s getting to the point where you select a file, click to download and wait at least 30-40 seconds, nothing happens. But then suddenly opens 2-3 windows (sometimes more) to download the file.

Understand, all the decorations, animations and other garbage is good when the basic functions work perfectly.

The idea is great, but it needs to be done humanly. Before the download didn’t work, now the upload glitches…

I don’t know, maybe break it up into separate blocks. For example my users don’t need photo galleries, audio and video player, but they need a stable and convenient file download.

Hello

Thank you for your plugin! But I have such a problem with caching system: I share a folder with many subfolders and often when users enter a folder just a small portion of subfolders is displayed (maybe some slow connection with google drive?) After it happens this portion always remains (taken from cache?) without showing many other subfolders. It CAN’T be helped with refresh Icon. Only “Purge Cache” from admin Tools can solve it. But users can’t use Admin Panel. Can you suggest a way to solve this? Is it possible to make “Refresh” icon to purge the cache? (i can copy paste .php code if needed) Or can I use “Syncronize via WP-Cron” ? (like purging cache every 10 min or something.. but i guess “Refresh” could be better way) Thank you in advance for any suggestion!

I am not sure what exactly is causing this behavior as pressing the refresh button should indeed clear the cache as you expect. Could you perhaps create a support ticket so we can figure out what is going on?

Ok, shall create. Could you point where are the “Refresh” button handler and where is “Purge Cache” button handler (in source code) so i could verify why they are working very different?

I received your support ticket and I advise you to first update the plugin to the latest version. Older versions can contain bugs that are already fixed. If the issue persists after updating, we can continue investigating the problem via your ticket.

Hi there, have been using your plugin for a while now, it’s great. I have a request/suggestion: The private folders link, please can we have the option to apply that link to the folder that comes up when you select a file for a WooCommerce product download. It would save some time for those with a lot of files… Or perhaps the plugin could remember which folder we were last in (per user). Or maybe a “create shortcut” or “default folder” option? Hope you can consider that :)

Thanks for your feedback! I will immediately implement the ‘Private Folders in WP Admin’ for the WooCommerce file/folder selector as well, so you will see this appear in the next update of the plugin.

Besides that, I will check if it is feasible to remember the folder location as well in the session of the browser. That might take some more time to develop, but I will put it on the feature request list!

Download method: Use your Server as proxy (slow)

Thanks for your question! If you are using the download method ‘Use your Server as proxy’, your server will stream the contents of the file to the users browser instead of letting Google servers deliver the content. That will cause a high CPU load for large files, and depending on your server configuration, that might block other requests to your server during the download.

If it isn’t possible for you to use the ‘redirect’ download method, feel free to create a support ticket to see if we can find a solution for you.

Sure! You share a link to the image on Google Drive itself and share a deeplink to the image itself on your site. See for an example the Gallery demo page .

Will this script bypass Google drive video Views Limit if I embed it to my streaming site.

The Use-your-Drive Video Player uses the Google Drive API to stream your media files. The API has a ‘Fair Use Policy’ for downloading and streaming content. This means that you will not encounter any problems with normal usage. However, if you have high traffic volume on your site downloading and streaming files via the plugin, you can indeed encounter API/download limits. In that case Google will throttle the traffic.

If it is an option for you to switch to a different Cloud solution, you could take a look at the Dropbox or Box solutions of the same plugin. For instance, Dropbox Free (Basic) has a limitation of 20 GB/day and the Pro & Business accounts have a limit of 200 GB/day.

Can i limit space in term of GB for a user? Lets say. I assign 200 GB to user 1 and 500 GB to user 2..

Thanks for your question! This plugin doesn’t support quotas mainly because the Drive API doesn’t provide size information for folders. So the plugin basically can’t check the size of the user folder. The other plugin version (OneDrive/Box/Dropbox) do support quotas, but you can only set it to one value in general. That means that you can only set it to 200GB or 500GB for both users.

Pre purchase question. I’m using ACF to build my site and Elementor and I’m wondering if this plugin will work with ACF?

The plugin doesn’t have any integration into ACF, so if you want to use the plugin in combination with ACF functionality you will have to develop this. If you need some assistance with that, feel free to share your ideas via a support ticket so we can discuss the possibilities.

Unfortunately, it isn’t possible to list the latest uploads inside a folder and all its sub folders with the plugin as the API doesn’t have an endpoint that could be used for this.Instead you basically have to make individual API calls for every folder and subfolder. So it is technically possible to create a solution that will recursively get this information for you via the API, but depending on the amount of folders, this approach will be pretty slow.

If your folder structure isn’t that extended (e.g. just a few subfolders), feel free to create a support ticket and I can provide you with an addon that adds this functionality to the plugin

I have 3 following questions.

1. May I know how many google drive account can it connect to?

2. Who can connect to the google drive? Only admin? or any specific role owner can do?

3. Creating the connection to google drive can be done from frontend? or only can be done from the backend?

  1. Theoretically, you can link the plugin with an unlimited number of Google Accounts. However, for performance reasons you want to keep this number as low as possible.

  2. You can select which Roles or Users should be able to access the main plugin settings page where the accounts can be linked. By default, only administrator users will be able to access this page.

  3. You can only link accounts via the WordPress Admin Back-End.

Please keep in mind that you have to authorize the plugin to access the linked Google Drive accounts. This is a full read/write authorization which is required to keep showing the contents of the Drives on your WordPress site.

is any option to select specific folder for upload in upload box.

The single Upload Box is only a module to uploads files and not to navigate through folders.

Instead, you can set in the module configuration which Google Drive folder should be use to store the uploads. Alternatively, you can add the File Browser module with the upload functionality enabled to get something similar as https://www.wpcloudplugins.com/plugins/use-your-drive-wordpress-plugin-for-google-drive/upload-box/. That allows you to see the files and folders in the select top folder on the Front-End and you can navigate to the location where you want to upload the files.

I have a course website and use Google drive to host my video’s. I recently found out by some of my course followers, that the embedded Google Drive video’s don’t work on Safari browser. This is mainly a problem for my IPhone and Ipad users. I am now looking for a solution. 1. So my first question is, does it work with Safari browser and is the player fully responsive in mobile and ipad/tablet. 2. Can you turn the setting off for automatic playlist? I want users to follow the lessons and not a playlist. All the lesson videos are in the same folder and I prefer not to create a different folder per video. Thanks!

Safari indeed doesn’t accept cookies from cross domains making the use of iFrames with embedded content problematical. This is especially the case for videos, as Google uses the YouTube player and authorization cookies to provide access to this content.

The Media Player of Use-your-Drive will work in Safari as it doesn’t use iFrames to display the media. The player is fully responsive and you can show a single video file (=>no playlist). Another option would be to hide the playlist with some custom CSS.

The plugin and MediaPlayer can be tested on the demo site (see links below).

A solution for Cloud Storage (Google/AWS) is on the to do list, but it will be a different kind of product and will have a different framework.

Cloud Storage is basically only a ‘storage’ so it doesn’t offer any file/folder structure, thumbnails, full text search and other powerful functionalities which the Drive API offers like the Backup & Sync software which you can use to manage the content on your site directly via your Windows Explorer/iOS Finder. Besides that, using Cloud storage will have a different pricing as using the most simple 1TB storage solution will cost at least $25,-/month. So that plugin can basically mainly be used for simple content delivery.

At the moment, I am not available to take this kind of projects but perhaps later this year!

Thank you for your wonderful support. A quick question please. Is it possible to translate the content of the GDocs that are displayed in the embedded widgets?

I have GTranslate in the footer of our site which translate the site OK, but this doesn’t translate the content of the Google Office documents. A lot to expect I know but I thought I’d ask in case there was an option or another GDrive setting somewhere that might do this or allow the viewer to change the language.

The previews are actually rendered by Google itself so it isn’t possible to translate this. However, Google should just recognize the language that is used by users browser (e.g. via navigator.language) and serve the correct translations automatically in their UI.
