That image is not part of UberMenu.

Before the UberMenu script runs, there will be an UberMenu status bar that uses a small Font Awesome icon in the admin bar. It’s a small unobtrusive icon within the admin bar only and is displayed only to admin users. If you’re seeing that large image, it means something on your site is replacing or restyling the standard icons with something larger and not sizing them properly.

No, UberMenu will replace your entire menu, not just a single submenu. You can have an UberMenu with a single mega submenu, but you can’t have the plugin control only part of a menu.

So you can set the Trigger to Click, and you can disable the “Touch-off close” setting if you don’t want clicking off-menu to close the submenu. The top level item can also be a two-way toggle by disabling the link on it. One thing it won’t do, however, is push down the other content by default.

You could create that basic layout, with image stacked on top of text in the submenu. Certain bits of the animation would need to be customized, however. Or the search for example would be custom. The logo would likely be part of the theme. I’m not sure exactly what part of that menu you’re looking to recreate, so it’s tough to answer specifically.

I’m not sure if your concern is more the number of DOM nodes, or the depth of the DOM tree (levels), but pretty much any WordPress menu (or any HTML menu at all for that matter) is going to create a similar amount of DOM nodes and nesting due to the nature of how HTML navigation menus work (essentially, an unordered list of links). Of course, it depends largely on the number of menu items you add, and the number of levels you create in your menu structure, but given the same menu item structure, pretty much any WordPress menu is going to create the same basic DOM node structure of nav > ul > li > a / repeat, and therefore be about the same size/depth. UberMenu is pretty standard in this regard, so unless your existing menu is particularly verbose with its DOM element usage, switching the plugin controlling the menu is unlikely to change much as far as DOM size goes.

Currently UberMenu is specifically designed to build the menu, not the entire header, which would include the logo. The theme is generally the best place to include the logo in your layout. For occasions when that isn’t possible, we do provide a way to add that as custom HTML outside the menu – see Adding a logo – but again, letting the theme control that is generally the preferred method. There are no immediate plans to change UberMenu to a full-fledged header builder.

When you say the menu “remains static when the user refreshes the page”, it sounds like you mean you want an AJAX-loaded site like an SPA. That changes the core functionality of WordPress and isn’t something UberMenu would offer out of the box on its own. Keep in mind that a menu is just a list of links; the default browser functionality for handling hyperlinks is to reload the entire page to load that linked resource. If your page load is heavy and slow, just adding UberMenu isn’t going to reduce it.

We’ve had many users use UberMenu with multilingual plugins. It is localized and translation ready, and uses WP best practices for translatability. We don’t have a specific compatibility guide for Polylang, however (though we’ve seen plenty of customers use them together).

Regarding submenu functionality, UberMenu has the ability to show the current submenu full time, and the ability to have a secondary mega dropdown within that submenu. What it won’t do out of the box are things like the underline highlight, though that is simple enough to add with custom CSS. The submenu column layouts look pretty straightforward.

The current version of UberMenu is compatible with WordPress 5.6. So the likely scenarios are either that you’re running an old version and need to update, or more likely you have some other JS errors on your site from other plugins/themes due to the recent update to jQuery 3.5.1, which are preventing the JS on your site from running.

1. I’m not totally sure in what way you want to mix them, but you can put a tabs block inside a mega submenu

2. You can have multiple rows of columns in your submenus.

There is no Polylang-specific functionality, but UberMenu is built on the WordPress menu system, so any Polylang-menu translations should apply. While we haven’t tested the plugin ourselves, we’ve seen a variety of customers use it.
