Did you use Loco Translate and the strings are still not translated?
If Loco Translate doesn’t work, you should copy the .po file located under the /wp-content/plugins/astero/languages/ folder and rename it to your translated language and locale, eg. astero-es_ES.po
Use Poedit (https://poedit.net/) to open the new .po file and translate your terms. Place the translated .po and .mo files under /wp-content/languages/plugins/. Your WordPress language settings should be set to Spanish. Full details are included in the Translation section in the documentation.

Hi, The Plugin is not working. I have introduced the necessary API keys and set an Astero weather for a location, but the widget is blank, not showing info from the location. Also half of the text is in English even when I have chosen Spanish language in setting options… I want a refund

Hi, seems like I managed to fix it, but still some of the words are in english (Cloudiness, Humidity, wind, etc.). the page is not open to the public yet, I´m going to try to translate using loco translate. If i can´t, I´ll get back to you.

Glad you got it working.
This plugin is translation ready, however it does not provide the translations itself.
You can refer to the “Translation” section in the documentation to see how to translate those strings. Loco Translate should also work if you don’t want to translate with Poedit yourself.

Also to clear up any misunderstanding, selecting “Spanish” in the weather settings means it will retrieve Spanish weather information from Openweathermap, however you’ll still need to translate the hard-coded strings in the plugin, like “Cloudiness” and “Humidity” as you noticed.

1. What is being shown on mobile and what do you expect? Do you have a screenshot? Please note that some information will automatically be hidden for “Full Forecast” on smaller devices, so “Full Forecast” looks more similar to “Simple Layout” on mobile phones. This is by design.
2. Can you provide a website so I can take a look? Is the search displayed normally for “Simple Layout”? Thank you.

1. In mobile while showing the Flat layout it completely works fine but if i switched to Full layout Close option is not visible on mobile screen so can’t able to exit from the full layout that is issue. For mobile users simple flat layout is enough thats why i need it please tell me the way to get flat layout.

Please make sure you have entered a valid OpenWeatherMap API key under Settings > Astero Weather.
If you are using an older version of Astero that uses Dark Sky API, please update to the latest version as Dark Sky is going to cease their API service.

Can this addon do a 10 or 14 day weather? All the images and everything I have seen are exactly what I need, it just needs to be 10-14 day forecast.

This plugin will not automatically refresh. It is loaded once when the website is loaded. You will need to trigger the url to refresh if you want the weather to update.

Hello, first of all congratulations on this complement. It is of vital importance to us in our digital newspaper. However, I would like to clarify some details. We have translated all the content of the plugin as indicated in its instructions, but the date in Spanish has not. We had to modify the .php code to get the correct date in our language, which is like this: j \ d \ e F \ d \ e Y or just like this l, j F Y. For future updates, a function could be implemented where the date can be set correctly in languages other than English. Thank you

Google’s script is not loaded on your site. Please make sure that “Skip Load Google Map” is not checked under Dashboard > Settings > Astero Weather.
If you are using caching plugins or Cloudflare, please try to clear all cache and see if it works.
If it’s still not working after you try the above steps, please send a Dashboard login to support@archtheme.com and I’ll take a look at your settings.

Hello, I have google and open weather API in the app – things seem to be working, however I cant search. I get an NA and blank screen after I search a city.
I am getting Google API console errors but i clearly have https and an api key. Please help me troubleshoot further.

I see the following error in the console:
Geocoding Service: This API project is not authorized to use this API. For more information on authentication and Google Maps JavaScript API services please see: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key
To use the search function, you also need to enter a Google Map API key under Dashboard > Settings > Astero Weather > Google Map API Key

Sorry I still see the same error on your console. Google API keys can sometimes be quite tedious to set up.
For the project that the API key belongs to, can you make sure that “Maps Javascript API” is enabled? Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/OF2ihTM.png
If it’s already enabled, my advice is to create a new project just for the javascript API, follow the instructions on this page: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key#key to create a new API key and see if it works.
Please note that the API sometimes takes a while to activate, so it may not work right away.

Okay so, Yes I confirmed i had enabled Maps JS API, I shutdown the entire project, I re made it and then i got a different console error.
Said I needed a billing account, I made my project in console a billing account and it worked. Hope I dont get charged up the ass. I also needed to add Geolocation API, it may be a new requirment. Have a look and see maybe you can exclude that API pull in your kickass plugin. Anyways, thanks!

Hello, we have the longitude/latitude values for a given post stored in a custom field, such as <?php the_field(‘loc_lat’); ?>
Am I able to pass these values into the plugin’s shortcode via the template so the weather widget can automatically detect the location, rather than us manually entering it in for each post?

Yes, you need to set up a base weather display first, then you can create weather displays in different cities dynamically.
You may need to use some PHP code to insert the stored latitude and longitude into the shortcode though.
This is an example of the shortcode:
[astero id='1234' lat='40.712776' lon='-74.005974']
You will get the id after creating a base weather display.
Note the format of the latitude and longitude: they are decimals and not in degree format.

Hello, I have buy your plugin . I use it for a directory. So I use the shortcode with Lat and Long. Work well But I have a problem to display . I have try all css but nothing. It appears on desktop in small format . When I click right to inspect css it s appears directly in medium and it s good . Have you got a css to force medium size on desktop ?

The weather will automatically expand to the width of its container.
You can place the weather in a narrower container on desktop, or use a custom css like the following:
.astero {
max-width: 300px;
}
Adjust the “300px” to your needs.

No it s not the problem. My problem is your plugin appears in mobile css on desktop . It break always on desktop and I can t see forecast. When I click right to inspect css it directly appear in the good size. I search the css to force good size on desktop

To display a forecast for 7 days, you can choose “Full Forecast Layout” in the weather settings. Please note that the container for the weather display requires a min width of 768px for it to show all 7 days forecast, otherwise it will automatically display less information on narrower widths.
You can also choose “Simple Layout + Fullscreen Overlay” in the weather settings, and the user is required to click on the “3 dots” on the weather display to open up a fullscreen 7 day weather forecast.

1. Yes you can set the weather to a fixed location (city). This plugin uses the weather data from Openweathermap. You can check the weather for your city here: https://openweathermap.org/ to preview the weather data.
2. Yes, you can create unlimited weather displays. If all your weather displays uses the same style (image or video background etc), you can use shortcode to set city quickly. If you wish to adjust the appearance for each city, you can create additional weather posts.

If your website supports SSL, you can also use HTML5 Geolocation for more accurate user location. IP address is less accurate by design, but also less obtrusive as there is no prompt for user location.

Yes that’s supported! You can upload custom images for up to 7 different weather conditions in the weather settings.

Under your weather settings, you should choose “Full Forecast Layout” to show all the weather information by default.

On mobile, the weather information will be automatically reduced to fit the width.
Sorry, this plugin does not support hourly forecast.
After making changes to the border and font size, have you cleared backend cache and browser cache? if you’ve already cleared cache and it still doesn’t work, can you provide your website so I can take a look?

For “Full Forecast Layout” if the container for the weather is too narrow, it will automatically hide excess information. To display all 7 days forecast, the weather display should have a minimum width of 768px.
Less information will be displayed automatically on mobile devices.

THanks for the speed reply, so i had 2 problems, which i eventually fixed by myself,
1. I couldn’t search for locations, i added Geocoding API to the API including the MAPS API to the same key and that solved it (only MAPS did not work)
2. when you have video in the background, it works very very nicely on desktop, but on mobile the video doesn’t automatically loads and the whole widget was not good, so i changed it to a static image in the back and now all is working

1. If your website is already loading Google Maps from your theme or other plugins, please go to Dashboard > Settings > Astero Weather > click “Skip Load Google Map”. Your Google Map API key is still required above.
2. Video autoplay is disabled by default on mobile browsers. You can try to use video background (Html5 Video), and below upload a “Placeholder Image”. This should be able to show an image background when the video can’t play.

Hello, I recently purchased the Astero WP weather plugin and I really like the design and functionality; however, as I tried it out on my site I noticed two little issues I would like to point out and ask for your assistance with; The first is that I cannot set a background color nor change the font/size (I change it in the backend but it doesn’t show in the widget). What could be the reason?
