I want the attached post to open when an image in a gallery is clicked but all that displays is the image in a window. I set the post as the parent of the image and select “Attachment Page” in the “What to do when clicking on a thumbnail”. Is there a setting I’m missing?
Hi, Attachment Page is a WP construct of the image being on its own on a standalone autogenerated page with your menu, footer, etc. Not all themes make use of that. In that term, attachment = image. For example: https://justifiedgrid.com/freshly-picked-blueberries/

OK, you have completely lost me. “Send us a mail from the profile here????””” What does that mean? I’m sorry, but I am just not getting the instructions you sent. I’m assuming I’m using the Lightboxes tab instead of the Captions tab, but what option do I choose after that? I’m not worried about “What text to show inside the lightbox” I’m worried about linking to the parent page. Anyway, under the “What to do when clicking on a thumbnail” tab I chose the custom option for Lightbox type – though the instructions say choose custom field, but there is no custom field option.. The instructions also say to “Enter an arbitrary field name for the Caption custom field setting. Use a field name that doesn’t exist yet.” – Again, I do not even see this option. And finally, when editing the functions.php file the instructions say “Change your_field_name and Hello world! to your values”. I can only assume this means change them to arbitrary field name for the custom field ???

OK… Got the code and it works great!! THANK YOU! One small problem. I wanted to have that happen in only one of the galleries, not site-wide. Is there a way to call the function but in short-code so I can have it take place in selected galleries??

Can I share to Facebook square images? I tested and shared photos were cropped to rectangle.
It depends on your image source but for WP media library, it’ll use the “lightbox max size” for the OG image. From that point on it’s up to Facebook to display it in any way they like (may be cropped).

I tested with 400×400, 500×500 and 600×600 image sizes. In all cases images were cropped to rectangle . In case 300×300 Facebook opened a small square image. I have Maximum size for lightbox defined for “Full Original Size”,
Does this mean that rectangle is the only valid form which Justified Image Gird supports in Facebook?

Not really, but a similar effect could be achieved by Filtering. Without an “All” button, the gallery defaults to the first filter. You could make these the “best of” then the “rest” would be the 2nd filter, showing more. This is reversible, load more is not.

Do you imagine a block that has only one setting, that is to select a JIG you created at a central location? Or would you like to load the full shortcode editor as it is now, somehow, as part of a block’s settings?
The former is under consideration, but it would come as a rewrite of the plugin.

Hi, do you have v3.9.3 and have you followed the latest steps for making a FB App? There was a change some time ago, pages can no longer be directly added. They’ll appear if your profile is their admin, so you only need to add the profile. If your current version implies that adding pages individually is still possible, you are using an outdated version.

Now when I go to a page to add an album, nothing shows up. I just see this -
If you don’t have any Profiles or Pages below, go to the settings and authorize/add some. Once added, you can select one and view the album list. You’ll need to choose an album or the overview to display. Don’t edit the Facebook IDs (facebook_id and facebook_album) manually. You can set the order on Facebook, or use the random order in JIG. You might want to limit how many images to load (e.g. for Wall Photos), using the limit in the general settings above. The default limit is 25 when nothing is set.
Have you saved in the JIG global settings Facebook tab, after you have added your profile?

Hi! I am having issues with the gallery on mobile. Portrait images are being very cropped. I have screenshots if you need but you can see it happening on my website http://pollyshindlerpainting.com/painting-2018/ view this page on the desktop then view it on mobile and you can see that the images appear view tall and cropped.
Was able to make them square but when the have normal aspect ratio it is very cropped. If you go to URL now they are square.
They should only appear this cropped when you use the “aspect ratio” setting of JIG. Is that intentional or not? Suppose you want the 1:1 aspect ratio but it’s not happening on moibile… General tab > Disable cropping, set this to Yes lock aspect ratio. That’ll honor your 1:1 ratio and disable further cropping.

There is no lightbox that does that as far as I know. Not a bad idea though.
today you don’t want to click anymore picture by picture with the mouse wheel it’s much faster and more comfortable, so unfortunately i can’t buy your gallery, if this function comes please let me know there i will buy your gallery. thanks for fast respon
If you find any lightbox that does this, there is a good chance it’ll work with JIG. This plugin is about the thumbnails, not the lightbox, those are just extra.
I’m installing JIG to my self-hosted site. On tab TimThumb & CDN is message “The permission for the cache folder is: 0755 and it seems to be writable.” and TimThumb –error button is red.
I checked that chmod is 0755 for all required lines. I have installed Jetpapck , WP Fastest Cashe for the7 theme. On page I got text “All of the images have failed to load”.
Is there some missing parameters which I have missed?
0777 seems to work at the same way.
If you have Jetpack, don’t forget to enable its image performance module (photon) for it to have any effect, since that plugin is quite modular. If that doesn’t help or don’t want to use it, this is a last resort: https://justifiedgrid.com/support/faq/disable-timthumb-still-thumbnails/
Sending one of your thumbnail’s link to your hosting’s support asking them why it doesn’t load, usually helps. Often the red is a result of too tight security (by plugins or by your hosting).

By now social buttons (FTPG) do not show on photos. I have tried “PrettyPhoto settings” and “PhotoSwipe 4 settings” value “Yes:display” but no result. Maybe there is still some missing parameter?

The issue is my thumbnails/images don’t seem to cache. I followed the ‘inpsect’ guide by right-clicking and checking the network flow, but cache header always reports ‘MISS’. ~

I see it as “HIT”. On the TimThumb & CDN tab, for the setting Thumbnail filename, use the “normal filename” option. On CF, check your settings for Query strings: Caching > Caching Level > Standard.

OK, ‘Instagram has been discontinued for some time’ – then why not remove this from the plugin, that would have saved me spending a couple of hours setting it up then trying to figure out what is wrong! It’s all very well having a note about it being discontinued, but that same note does not appear in the plugin – frustrating!
Any workaround to get JIG to work with IG?
Some people have working API keys, and others are happy with the “most recent 20” that it can currently do. There used to be a workaround, but not anymore. Plugins you see working are scraping (not nice, phohibited by IG) the site, not using the API.

You seem to have wp rocket the caching plugin, and that doesn’t know it should purge the page with an Instagram JIG on it to expect new posts. Could that be it?
The CF hit vs. miss depends on your server. When is a hit for me, it can still be miss for you as assets are on different servers (whatever’s closest to you). So the first time you check it it’s miss, the 2nd time (refesh after opening chrome inspect) it’ll be a hit. Is that not the case? Your thumbnails are set up correctly, if they can be hits in one server they should be able to work everywhere else.
Hi, no it’s not a hit the second, third or fourth time. And also, when I previously used MaxCDN, the image URL would reflect to show it was being cached via maxcdn, but this no longer happens, is that becuase Cloudflare caches but keeps the same URL as the original? Please advise.
What’s the value of the CloudFlare -> Cache -> Caching Level setting? CF doesn’t change any URL, unlike regular CDNs.

Hello, I have been using JIG for a couple of years now. Lately I have been having problems getting the mosaic thumbnails to show their images on my site. They are showing up as grey squares instead of having the picture content as usual. The links still function as normal just no content in the thumbnails. My question is: what is the procedure for replacing the mosaic thumbnails with regular images. I have tried to do this in the normal way as I have in the past by using images in the media library in Wordpress and attaching what I think is the proper link to them. When I do this to my collection thumbnails I loose my links to photos on Flickr and the bread crumbs stop working. Any help you can provide would be appreciated, Thanks in advance, Steve
There appears to be a problem from the Flickr API that collections don’t have the auto-generated mosaic thumbnail anymore. We are looking into the issue, please contact us from the profile so when the beta is ready that contains a possible fix, you can receive it firsthand.

Check the server error logs after a 500 incident, or ask your hosting’s support to investigate what’s causing it. Error 500 could be many things, like insufficient resources. What’s the name of your hosting? Not sure why it only happens with WC and the ShortCode editor, whereas your gallery works fine.

Hello, is it possible to create 2 different galery ( via 2 different shortcodes ) . Like, having 2 different visual settings, one for normal pages, & one for other pages ?
i think i found how to, with using presets !
seems not, every edit, apply to the main form.
How many galleries do you plan on using with each of the two different styles?
If it’s few+many: Use a built-in preset + your specialty settings in the shortcodes for the few that need to look special. Use the global JIG settings for the rest and no preset in their shortcode. That way you can control the majority easily from a common place.
If it’s many+many: Create or use 2 different presets. https://justifiedgrid.com/features/custom-presets-and-authority/ When editing a preset and/or saving to it, don’t forget to choose it in JIG settings. Any JIG shortcode that has no shortcode will use whatever you currently have in the JIG settings. So it’s advisable to use some kind of preset in every JIG if you rely on the presets to visually separate galleries.

Hello, I’ve been using JIG as a paid customer since 2014 or so, but I notice again and again that many albums just get lost. They do not show up on the picture page of my website, even though they are in Facebook. I have just 2 from 2019 and no album from 2018, even though I uploaded many through Facebook. This gives visitors to my site a totally wrong impression of how active we are. What is going on? Any ideas?
