Thanks for the update! Can you tell us what’s new?
Oh thanks
Hi
I want to use your plugin in my website, it looks great!.. but I want to ask a question.
I have 100 images with different labels ( by Media Library assistant plugin) and I want to apply some filters , like “Red” “Yellow” “Black” (some will have more than one) etc, depending on the taxonomies I assign.
I see your plugin has filtering features and it seems to be just what I’m looking for.
So, the question is..
Can I use more than two parameters to filter? For example “Red” + “Black” + “Yellow” and then see the images that meet such criteria.
And can I use checkboxes instead of buttons?
Hopefully, I explained myselft, let me know if I didn’t.
Thanks!
Hi, you can pick a taxonomy (e.g. Colors) and have all buttons clickable so the more you click the less images you see (AND) relationship. You can use (OR) relationship where the more you click the more results you get. The standard is single select which you can see on the demo. See “allow multiple filters” setting: http://justifiedgrid.com/wp-content/uploads/Filtering1.jpg
Also you can use an entirely different taxonomy, the second level e.g. Materials to complement Colors fiter.
Sorry but there is no checkboxes instead of buttons. You can style the actively selected state of a button and with some creativity you could turn them into checkbox-looking or similar design (with CSS).
Good evening, I just bought the plugin. I can not get it to work. The parameters are not accessible? When I click on the buttons nothing happens?
Thank you for helping me
Denis
Hi Denis, are the settings there if you scroll down a lot? Do you have a plugin installed with YITH in its name, related to woocommerce?
Thanks for your answer but the settings don’t appear on the page, can I send you screenshots by e-mail to show you ? My website being at the beggining of its construction I can also give you my login for you to test it. And i don’t have the plugin named YITH, the only plugin I have is Facebook Photo Fetcher but activate or not it doesn’t change a thing. My website is on wordpress 4.3.1. Thank you for your answer.
Ok contact me from my profile with temporary wp-admin info. I’ll look into it.
Hi, I’ve bought this item some months ago and it’s great. Not we are opening 2 new noprofit websites where we share infos and demos, have we to buy this plugin again to use it inside both new installations? Please let me know, see you soon.
Unfortunately there is no multi-use license available here. You need to buy a new regular license for each separate site.

Ok, one more question about external source. If i have thousands of photos and hundreds of galleries – would you recommend to use Flickr? Im really trying to stay away from NGG even for photo managing, since it causes me a lot of trouble and a lot of slowness. So an idea to have main albums by years, and then separate galleries within those albums (Im already talking with NGG terms, sorry
. Would be great to have a description also for those galleries. And in a perfect world – if they can be added as galleries – as they become created on Flickr. Is that doable? And also if you would suggest/not to use social gallery on top of it (speed of entire website is my concern here). Or you would suggest another way of doing it? Really appreciate your help.
Use of Flickr is pretty good for management. The only one downside is that the collections (albums of albums) have a generated small preview image mosaic. Otherwise it has everything you need, good managment tools, speed, nice UI, large storage. Another minor downside is that the API combines muli-word tags into one, removing the space. If you use Filtering then I advise to only use one-word tags.
As for the lightbox I recommend using the built-in PhotoSwipe4 even for PC. If you need social sharing that’s the fastest. If not, then Magnific Popup. I don’t recommend SG for you.
Flickr is best if you wish to automate the creation of album pages on your site. You could just place a single shortcode pulling a top-level collection from Flickr and your complete Flickr portfolio would be synced to your site all the time, with automatically created pages, breadcrumbs and whatnot. All of these albums/galleries would have the same look due to being controlled by the same shortcode.
Flickr collections feature doesn’t have a demo yet on the preview site.
Depending on your skill and willingness to use another plugin called Media Library Assistant you could just use the regular WP Media Library. I have 750 pictures in 20 galleries with category names grouping them together, and tags as an added layer of organizing capability. It’s more tweaky but it can be done in WP too. For this to work efficiently you’d need to disable unnecessary thumbnail sizes defined by your theme, and learn JIG in Recent Posts mode to set up individual gallery pages. So it’s not that automatic but gives you more control.
URGENT: We have a major event in two days that we’re in full swing promoting and I’m just noticing that when I touch an image on my android device the photos arean’t launching into full screen mode. Can I give you a login and have you look to see if you can get this up and running for me?
Your attention is greatly appreciated!

Hi, it seems like your theme is preventing the clicks on the thumbnail from opening JIG’s lightbox. By trying to open its own lightbox it seems.

Perhaps you could disable it in the theme instead of removing the code.
Okay thanks for the insight. I disabled all plugins with same result, and then verified that the PhotoSwipe 4 lightbox behaves inconsistently when the theme is active. I’ve sent along a support request to the theme developer. What’s very odd is that there are certain images that WILL launch into the lightbox … any idea why might that be?
PhotoSwipe4 should only be launched from JIG thumbnails. It requires the size of the image known before opening it, that’s why it’s not an “apply easily jQuery plugin” that themes could add with 2 lines of code. JIG supplies the info after server-side calculations.
Does your theme include PS4 or have you installed it somehow outside of JIG?
When a lightbox doesn’t open, there is a JS preventing it from opening (hijacking the click). That’s why I recommended to comment out that part in the theme’s JS. If the image is opened on its own, then there is a JS error.
I found it … hadn’t ever noticed that lightbox option in the theme. Thank you!!!!
No problem.
yes i purchased your plugin and my hosting provider is saying its using all my cpu cycles and to disable this plugin. can you assist?
home/theinsid/public_html/RescueTronics.com/wp-content/plugins/justified-image-grid/timthumb.php 12 390 I recommend you to disable the justified-image-grid plugin as it generates too many scripts’ executions. You can also read how to restrict the executions of admin-ajax.php from our tutorial:
Hi, what is the name of this hosting? Unless you are willing to switch to a better company (such as MDDHosting), you could use Jetpack and activate its Photon module. It’ll outsource thumbnail creation to a WP service as a free CDN, lifting the load off your server.
Hello,
Is it possible to see all the pictures in different pages ? I have around 300 images and in Wordpress i would like to see 100 images by page.
Hi, I believe you mean pagination, which is not a feature. However you have Load More and Infinite scroll to split loading the gallery to several batches.
Hi,
I have an issue with the formatting in my freshly installed JIG plugin.
Please see:
http://edgerob.com/2015/10/25/robbie-test/Click on an image to launch prettybox, and see the formatting. I hope you see the same.
Here’s the code I’m using for that:
[justified_image_grid preset=13 prettyphoto_social=yes pp_social_buttons=FT prettyphoto_title_pos=outside caption=off lightbox=prettyphoto ng_gallery=1]
Also:
How might I go about getting this layout in my own gallery:
http://foobox.fooshowcase.com/jig/Ideally I’m looking for a single column gallery, which displays a single image if landscape and two images side by side if portrait.
Thanks in advance, – Rob
Hi, your theme.css is changing how prettyPhoto looks. Edit that file and remove everything from:
/* Pretty Photo */ to /* F S G A L L E R Y */
2:
You’d either need to limit the width that is available for JIG, or increase row height and deviation settings until 1 landscape shot fits in 1 row and 2 portaits otherwise. There is no magic number or automatic setting, it all depends on your theme, how responsive it is, and also the devices. What you achieve on a desktop with large screen real estate is not possible on a small screen. The FooBox example is limited to a max-width of 604px by the theme.
Great, thanks a lot!
Let me know if you succeeded
Will do. Cheers
Hi
I have a client how wants to display all galleries in one album on the first page. Se that you can do that with your plugin and it looks great. But he wants the gallaeris preview images to appear in masonry layout – not justified….
Ana suggesteion, can your plugin do that?
Hi,
Is Pinterest style available? What is masonry?
Sorry, but the Pinterest waterfall layout is not available in Justified Image Grid. It’s horizontal and is without columns. It might get added as part of a future update, though. Why, what’s wrong with it, you might ask… let’s see a comparison.
Defining the masonry layout
With so many grid styles and plugins, it’s hard to grasp what the difference is. There could be a misconception about what is considered masonry. By the JIG developer’s definition, masonry is a strictly horizontal grid where thumbnails align just like bricks in the wall. After all, masons are a craftsmen who lay bricks. They don’t do it vertically. It’s often confused with the waterfall grid layout that Pinterest uses.
Eye movement and thumbnail flow direction
The natural reading direction of most countries is horizontal, either left-to-right or right-to-left. When you tell a story with pictures, you do it in your reading order. For example, wedding photos. Can you imagine that in a vertical layout? How can you tell which image is next? There is no natural flow except a sense of infinity by scrolling and scrolling. Indeed, it’s good for galleries where the order is not important, that’s why it works so well for Pinterest and Tumblr. When you look at a JIG gallery, your eye movement is the same as during reading, it’s what your eyes are programmed to. Do you think it’s a coincidence that Flickr (the largest photo site), Shutterstock, Google image search, Google+, Google Photos, 500px front page all use this horizontal layout?
Photo orientation balance
The usual argument is that (in the horizontal layout) portrait images get diminished among many landscape shots. Think about it, why would this be any different in the vertical layout? Orientation roles would simply get switched. Landscape shots would have small surface area in comparison to “huge” portrait photos. Justified Image Grid makes an effort to increase row height where a portrait photo is present, while decreasing row height for landscape-only rows. This results in a balanced grid. Applying the same logic to a column-based gallery would be problematic as they consist of a predefined, relatively small number of columns with many thumbnails in each. Any of them can contain a portrait. Therefore column widths can’t be juggled so well, unlike row heights in a horizontal masonry layout (JIG).
Is it possible to set up with caption only displaying initially and the image shows on hover?
Yes for that you’d basically need to cover the image with a solid color using the “Overlay effects” tab. Set it to “overlay type” to “others” and have “overlay opacity” on 1 – using the mouse will remove the overlay and show the picture. Whether or not you have captions is irrelevant.
Hi, I’m trying to make all of the images desaturated except when moused over, but it isn’t working. I changed the settings to “others” and “desaturate.” Is there something else I’m supposed to change?
http://spellboundboudoir.com/galleries-2/Hi, special effects only work on same-domain images. You are currently using Jetpack Photon for thumbnail generation and it makes all images off-site. It’s a JavaScript security restriction. Are you using Jetpack Photon because of a particular reason or were you having trouble with the thumbnails?
I’m using pics that I uploaded directly to my Wordpress site…. I have no idea why Jetpack Photon is on (unless that’s the default?) or where to turn it off….
Help, please?
Go to Jetpack settings (around the top in the dashboard) and turn off the Photon module. Yes I see your images are from wordpress but it routes images through their servers to be faster. It’s often good but not when you wish to use special effects.
I found it!!! (It was in my Jetpack settings, of course….) It works now!
Thank you so much for the quick reply!!
I am soooo in love with this plugin…. I can’t even begin to tell you how frustrated I’ve been, trying to find a plugin to make a gallery like this without a horrible backend interface…. Thank you again!
One more question: is it possible to add the animated border along with this black and white effect? (I saw it on a couple of other special effects, but this is the one I want to use…)
Yes you can combine mostly anything you see visually. It’s possible to animate the inner border which will cover the thumbs a little bit.
Go to Overlay effects tab, then:
- Enter a small number like 5 to “Inner (on-image) border width”
- then set “Inner border behavior” to “others” option.
Look into “Inner border animation” setting too.
Thank you for your kind words, much appreciated!
Thank you!
If you have some time to spare, I’d be thankful for a review
https://jig.typeform.com/to/jBwpaS Feel free to share your story, it seems like you’ve taken a look at other options? I’d also use your words from your previous comment.
Yes, I’ve looked at a LOT of other options, and yes, you can absolutely use my words! I’ll go write a review after dinner. : )
Thanks, looking forward to it!
Okay, it took me forever to do it, but my review is finally up! Thanks again, for all of your help!
Thank you, it’s stellar. I’ll proudly feature it on the upcoming site of JIG.
Hi, My website has been using your plugin perfectly, until recently(not sure when it started, I haven’t updated my site for a while), it stopped working. I am not sure if it’s your plugin’s issue or Nextgen Gallery. I inserted Justified Image Grid shortcode, to load a Nextgen Gallery Album, which contains around 98 galleries so far. This page lists all the galleries in grid. Each thumbnail used to open each gallery in standalone page without any problem. But now, it either shows can’t not find the id/slug, or simply does not respond(not opening anything). This is the grid page: http://anchiaomakeup.com/%E4%BD%9C%E5%93%81%E9%9B%86/ Please help! Thank you very much!
If I click one it says:
The NextGEN gallery with ID/slug: cleo does not exist or is empty.
However in the URL bar the slug is longer:
cleo?????????????/
I’m not familiar with using special characters in URLs, normally their abc counterpart is recommended. You can use all kinds of characters in content, but the URL, especially if the elements of it will be used as variables, should be absent special characters. Can you try to change the slug of an album to see if it opens that way?
If you deactivate JIG, just show the albums with native NextGEN, can it load the proper content?
May you please reset my code, so I can get automatic updates.
Done!
Thanks!
Hi, I have purchased your item. How can I set the options as a banner. I really like your plugin, i can achieve everything I want with it.
Basically is there a way, how the images are distributed along the with of the website (more precicely along the widt of the surrounding container). Because when I set the horizontal distance between the images, the images are shown in the middle of the page. Thx
Hi, what do you mean by setting it up as a banner? Web ad?
Distribution along full width: perhaps your theme is limiting the content width? Unless your theme has a “real full width” page template, send me a link with JIG gallery and I’ll advise on settings or Custom CSS. By middle of the page do you mean that a single image will show up centered, or a full multi-row gallery will have white/empty bars on the sides?
Hi, thx for the answer. I know that my theme is defining the padding… This is alright… On my site there is a image gallery with the logos of our cooperation partners, its just under the second section on my website… (below the gorilla trip, lion trip etc…)
welcometouganda.de
All images should be 90px in height and NOT cropped… Although I inserted the option in the short code for not cropping, the africa-rise logo (black Africa emblem, second logo from left) is cropped sometimes (depending on screen res…).
All images should be distributed along the whole width of the content of the side(the padding of the template is alright), no logo should be cropped
Thx in advance…
Sometimes there is some cropping from the bottom due to technical reasons. Contact me from my profile with temporary wp-login and I’ll look into a setting that’ll work better. I cansee that the UWA and the RISE logos are cropped a bit. In the end, a safe zone could be added around the logos (in the files), just like maring on business cards.
If you wish to have all images at 90px height with no deviation, they can not be not-cropped. It’s impossible to have a fixed height and fit the width in one row fluidly, without changing something about the pictures, assuming a constant spacing between the images.
Okay, I get it:) I think the best work around is to apply some padding (in photoshop) around the images :) Good idea:-)
If all else fails.
I’d try middle(spacing) border in JIG’s Overlay effects tab first, set it to 10 width and having it with white color, see what happens.
Hi,
Is it possible to decide where the images are cropped by the plugin so that the front-end doesn’t display a image of people where the heads are cut, for example?
Sincerely, Mika
Hi, it’s JIG’s core value to allow thumbs to be not cropped at all, maintaining the original AR therefore not cutting heads off
You can further enforce this by using “disable cropping” setting.
If you do crop to a fixed aspect ratio, e.g. squares, then you can use the “crop zone” setting under the timthumb tab/section. There is no face detection assisted crop zone selection yet but it’s on the to-do
I wanted to add that crop zone selection is available on a per gallery level but not on a per thumbnail level. There are 9 zones (all corners, sides and center).
Amazing, thanks a lt. I appreciate it!!
No problem!
Please reset my licence for automatic updates. Thanks in advance. Christian.
Done!
Also … Is it possible to customise the JIG code to say a custom message ?
if(empty($attachments)){ return $this->frontend_stop(__(‘No images found for your category or tag filters!’, ‘jig_td’)); }
i.e. with something like this … return $this->frontend_stop( apply_filters( ‘jig_msg_not_found’, __(‘No images found for your category or tag filters!’, ‘jig_td’) ) );
fyi … it’s on line 8909 of justified-image-grid.php … but you would know that
Yeah I’ll need to sprinkle filters all over the source, which I’ll do. Until then the only way would be rewriting it at the source as you see it.
Or if you translate it with WPML to another language you can rewrite any text like this.
Fantastic. Thank you. Filters would be good if you can please
Yes I’ll add them, they just need to be well-thought-out and have a concept with supplementing docs/tuts.
Fantastic, thank you
No problem, stay tuned. Early 2016 will carry substantial new features and updates for JIG.
Hi again
Another question about JIG usage … Is it possible to get JIG to act in place of single images (etc) on Wordpress by adding a rel code or other attribute etc ? ... I would like my Featured Images to be clickable with the same settings as JIG. Presumably I could just do_shortcode (‘justified … i place of the single image, but I wondered if there was a built-in cleverer way ?
There is no way unless you make it pass through the shortcode or the template tag PHP snippet, which you can generate from the shortcode editor. If you just mean the lightbox to take over single pics then sorry it’s not possible either. If you need detailed tech explanation I can send you that if you contact me from my profile.
