Please reset my license. It’s telling me this code is in use on another site. If so, it’s a development site and not needed. Envato username is whitnanc. Thank you.

Done, I’ve reset the license.

Hi Here is my purchase

I am unable to make the filtering appear on the page

Can you check?

This is my test page http://aa2.creditambulancec.com/testimage/

Thanks for your support

pls ignore . i got it working

Okay!

Hi

please can you kindly explain to me in a more simple way on how to create an image with popup video links. such as with popup light box video links, that plays video when click the picture

1. I will need to setup the size of both the picture and video box 2. I want to link each picture to it video 3. How can I make the sizes of the pictures to be deference in a gallery

Thank you very much for a wonderful plugin, your plug-in is one of the best I have seen

Hi, have you got my previous reply 4 months ago?

1. The thumbnail size is dependent on your general setting, row height and deviation. Lightbox size is Lightboxes tab > PrettyPhoto JS settings see default width and height.

2.

In order to open videos from the thumbnails, you need to enter a YouTube or Vimeo video URL into the JIG Link field in the WP image editor (Add Media or Media Library). The proper formats are this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPBwXKgDTdE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xg3vE8Ie_E http://vimeo.com/21294655 http://vimeo.com/22669590

3. What do you mean by “deference”?

Thanks again for your answer,

in my question 3, I wanted to know how to make each gallery display pictures in deference sizes,

I am creating a website that will only have pictures that will link to videos in light box style, where in your PDF tutorial can i read details that will enable me do this effectively and beautifully, there is a lots of details in the PDF, has not been easy to find exactly what am looking for.

or if you can link me to any online video tutorial of your plug-in, you can also give me more details on how to go about this.

thank you very much in advance you have been very kind and so helpful

best wishes

Go to JIG settings General tab > Thumbnail count and dimensions > Randomize thumbnail width setting and enter a number like 50. JIG just uses your photos’ original AR, and if there is no variation between their size, they’ll all look the same size. This setting helps randomizing them.

Sorry there is no video tutorial regarding this.

Hello. We can’t seem to get the plugin to show our pinterest feed. This is the error we get: The requested RSS feed cannot be loaded at this time. This XML document is invalid, likely due to invalid characters. XML error: > required at line 22, column 260

http://thedigitalhook.com/caligirlcakes/services/cookies/

What is your Feed URL that you use?

Hi, use this new URL, Pinterest has changed it. https://www.pinterest.com/caligirlcakes01/cookies.rss The next version will include an update for this too.

Hello, can I sort images using checkboxes instead of buttons or tag cloud?

Sorry no.

Hi,

I have tried to find the solution of custom template integrate your justified image gallery. But I can’t found any solution. Here, I am giving you two examples as per my requirement. Let me know is this possible or not or there is any jQuery code to use.

Example: 1

    Vlerick Expat Event
    21 Oct 2015 | Photos (5)
... and so on

Can you please look into this as soon as possible?

I hope you can come up with better solution.

Thanks,

Hi I can’t understand your example, the links leads to nowhere. Could you elaborate please?

hi

Hope you are well :)

I am trying to create a JIG of client logos, but the bottoms of the images are being cut off. This is the code I am using:

[justified_image_grid thumbs_spacing=30 row_height=80 height_deviation=0 lightbox=links-off orderby=rand disable_cropping=yes mouse_disable=yes error_checking=yes image_taxonomy=wpmf-category image_tax_term=clients link_target=_blank specialfx=others specialfx_type=desaturate load_more=off overlay_icon=off outer_border_width=1 outer_border_color=#CCC middle_border_color=#FFF middle_border_width=10 inner_border_width=0]

Am I doing something wrong ?

Thanks

Jon

The height of the thumbs may vary slightly so overflow hidden crops them. It’s due to keeping the AR and rounding problems. Unless you have borders in the images or logo content actually flushed to the edge of the image it shouldn’t be a problem. This is observable on google images and Flickr as well, to some extent. If you very slowly resize the window you can see it. Isn’t making overflow visible creating some mess?

Thanks for the explanation … I understand now re the rounding problem so it makes sense for JIG to trim larger images where the overflow isn’t noticeable, but in the JIG i am creating I have a batch of client logos (www.theimageyard.co.uk/clients/) where every pixel counts. The result isn’t ‘messy’ as such, but it isn’t what i expected either as i’ve seen other websites do the ‘client logos’ thing very well.

I might be thinking wrong, but is it possible to have a fixed width setting on JIG without using aspect ratio or cropping ? ... or should I be using another method to display logo images. Any help would be gratefully appreciated as always :)

Yes there is a width mode settings that allows you to apply a fixed width, which won’t make a responsive gallery though. If your logos are all the same size, you could calculate how many you’d like per row and multiply that number. Send me a link with your gallery and I’ll see if I can recommend a specific setup.

Hi there even after 3 Years of using you awesome Plugin. I have ONE thing that u can improve. :)

A lot of people have profiles on Deviantart.com (this includes me , too) and the there is nearly NO WP plugin that can provide an inclusion into a nice gallery. (like yours) :)

If there is any way to include my DA Gallery into my J.Grid i would be very happy.

Regards Manni

If you contact me from my profile I can send you more info about it with example shortcodes and whatnot.

Anyway it’s built in already. Through RSS feeds, just go to the RSS tab of the shortcode editor and look into the Deviantart mentions after you scroll down a bit.

I really like what I am seeing with this plugin. But I am not clear on if its a good choice for building a video gallery. I see that it does the RSS feeds for vimeo and youtube, but I want the client to have the ability to easily combine videos from either source, and do it simply. Ive read through everything I could find, but still not clear.

1) Is this plugin capable of combining videos from uncommon sources one at a time? Is that an easy process for a basic level technical client to manage?

2) Can images and video be combined in the sample gallery?

Love your work. Really hope this works out for this project Im working on.

Hi, if you wish to combine videos from YouTube and Vimeo AND have normal pictures in there you should use the manual way:

Set up all images in the WP media library, and use the JIG Link field on them to link some to open YouTube and some to open Vimeo videos in the lightbox.

The automatic way is via RSS but since YouTube discontinued RSS, there is a trick that JIG applies which makes it not very combinable with other RSS feeds. But generally you can place a YouTube channel or playlist URL or a Vimeo RSS URL to an instance of JIG gallery and have content automatically “sycned” from YouTube/Vimeo.

For complete control and mixing things I recommend the manual way, could be easier as it’s just “place a link to the video” on the appropriate image (which will be the thumbnail).

Hello,

please do so; my username is: lindebjerg Contact JIG support to reset your license (only the username is needed).

Done!

Is it possible to have just a single image for the Flickr collections, as opposed to the mosaic? The mosaic images are rather small.

Unfortunately it’s created by Flickr and there is nothing to do about it. If you don’t use its multi-level capability, you could put the collection that includes the albums on a page or post, for which you set a custom image as “featured image”. Then show these with JIG’s Recent Posts instead of an actual Flickr collection by a mosaic. I don’t know how many levels deep you have your collections on Flickr but it might work if you don’t use them too wildly.

Does the plugin load different size Flickr images for different screens? I’d like to have the full image loaded on desktop (2048px), but less on mobile.

It only uses them for the lightbox target image. For mobiles you’d actually use the same size or even larger due to the retina screens. A phone can be full HD just like your monitor. Anything smaller would show pixelated. The thumbnails are sized intelligently depending on pixel density. Thus it imposes not much extra bandwidth for the thumbnails. The lightbox target can get large though, I see. What size did you have in mind for mobile lightbox target?

For non retina screens, probably 1024 or 1400px. I upload all my images to Flickr at a resolution of 2048px…is that a good “max” size or should I upload even higher resolution?

For web that is a very good max, it shouldn’t be larger than that. What you could do is to save them at a 55-65 or similar mid-quality JPG it’ll result in a pretty low file size that way. Not sure if Flickr keeps the original unmodified or transcodes it. Anyway, only save images in higher quality that demand it (having smooth gradients). Unless you wish people to print your photos or set them as wallpapers at 1:1 size. If you show these in a lightbox, they will be scaled down a bit anyway. So compression artifacts won’t be very visible. JIG uses this to display for example 2x size thumbnails at half compression quality with no real image size increase as cost.

If you wish to supply different sizes to different platforms, then you could create a custom preset for PC and a custom preset for mobile devices that includes the Flickr image size setting at a different option:

No, the largest image to look for is the 1024px version.

Yes, look for image versions 1600px or 2048px.

Yes and allow even the original image, if available.

The sizes are created by Flickr.

In JIG settings click “edit preset authority” and switch Flickr tab’s “Look for and allow hi-res photos” setting from orange to blue then save. From now on a preset can contain this setting. Subsequently you can have different sizes for platforms. I never seen people do this, but it’s a very nice idea and you can easily do it with JIG.

The plugin is working great so far, wonderful job! I do have a request/suggestion though – there are some galleries I create where I don’t care that the photos have uniform height, and I prefer the vertical flow layout (sort of Pinterest-style.) If you could add that as an option, that would be fantastic. It gives a really creative look to the page. :) Thanks!

Sorry, but the Pinterest waterfall layout is not available in Justified Image Grid. It’s horizontal and is without columns. It might get added as part of a future update, though. Why, what’s wrong with it, you might ask… let’s see a comparison.

Defining the masonry layout

With so many grid styles and plugins, it’s hard to grasp what the difference is. There could be a misconception about what is considered masonry. By the JIG developer’s definition, masonry is a strictly horizontal grid where thumbnails align just like bricks in the wall. After all, masons are a craftsmen who lay bricks. They don’t do it vertically. It’s often confused with the waterfall grid layout that Pinterest uses.

Eye movement and thumbnail flow direction

The natural reading direction of most countries is horizontal, either left-to-right or right-to-left. When you tell a story with pictures, you do it in your reading order. For example, wedding photos. Can you imagine that in a vertical layout? How can you tell which image is next? There is no natural flow except a sense of infinity by scrolling and scrolling. Indeed, it’s good for galleries where the order is not important, that’s why it works so well for Pinterest and Tumblr. When you look at a JIG gallery, your eye movement is the same as during reading, it’s what your eyes are programmed to. Do you think it’s a coincidence that Flickr (the largest photo site), Shutterstock, Google image search, Google+, Google Photos, 500px front page all use this horizontal layout?

Photo orientation balance

The usual argument is that (in the horizontal layout) portrait images get diminished among many landscape shots. Think about it, why would this be any different in the vertical layout? Orientation roles would simply get switched. Landscape shots would have small surface area in comparison to “huge” portrait photos. Justified Image Grid makes an effort to increase row height where a portrait photo is present, while decreasing row height for landscape-only rows. This results in a balanced grid. Applying the same logic to a column-based gallery would be problematic as they consist of a predefined, relatively small number of columns with many thumbnails in each. Any of them can contain a portrait. Therefore column widths can’t be juggled so well, unlike row heights in a horizontal masonry layout (JIG).

I do appreciate that descriptive reply, that is very helpful. I agree with you that it is a less natural flow, but on occasion it can be useful. It would be a welcome optional feature in the future. :) Thanks.

Of course it would be useful and I might include it in the future. Just for now the profile of the plugin is about an actual justified grid :)

Hi,

When I activate your extension, I get a wordpress error.

The plugin generated 262 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.
.

Regards

JIG has that method but it’s WP that calls it. I believe you’ll have the same thing for some other plugins. Never seen this error before though. You could disable strict error reporting: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9983286/disabling-strict-standards-in-php-5-4

I have this issue only with your plugin

I’ve checked and the fix will be included in the next update. If you write the word:

static

in front of

function on_activate() in justified-image-grid.php, it won’t generate that error in strict mode.

Your plugin is great! Just I cannot get the Filters to work. I am adding several images from the Wordpress Media Library and want to filter them by category/tags. How to do that?

Do you use a plugin to tag or categorize them?

You can use Media Library Assistant, or JIG’s General settings > Additional tools or utilities > WP image tags and categories

Enable to use tags and categories for images in the Media Library. Very simple, if you need more, get a plugin like Media Library Assistant or Media Categories.

Enable the ability to add post categories or tags to images.

Then in Filtering choose tags or category to "filter by".

Thank you very much!

No problem.

Hi, You are going to be the king of the gallery If you create a widget for VC !! LOL.
Regards

Yeah I know and I’ll add it in an update. Thanks :)

Hi There,

I so love your Justified Image Grid. I have sent you an email.

I’ll check it out.

Is it possible to order the image display in JIG to be based on the image filename? Either Asc or Desc ?

Thanks

Phil

By default the image title is derived from the filename. JIG’s General settings > Order by setting can order by Title ascending or desc.

Hi,

How can we create a gallery with albums that have one thumbnail image and all images can be viewed in pretty photo?

Cheers

The unique combination of row heigth +- deviation can limit the image so the only thing remains is to crop.

Use the “disable cropping” setting or set up a more generous row height deviation.

Thankyou very much for your help….worked perfectly.

No problem!

I added just one image to gallery but in the post it’s shows me the first six images of the library.

What happens it?

Could you share your shortcode please?
