Hi Thanks for our awesome plugin I have added an admin in my website with a limited access to specific folder to add some users with a limited access to sub folders. The problem is when he add the path in “Add/Edit Folder:” section in “user” page he can see all website files which is a big problem for me cause he can easily grant a full access to all website files to himself. so how can I make “Add/Edit Folder:” section only show the specific folder that I gave him earlier ??

Hi,
You can edit settings.php file inside the filemanager plugin folder and find this line:
define('FM_ALLOW_ROOT', true);
And change the true to false. This will hide the root folder from the dropdown list so no one would be able to assign anyone the root wordpress folder. Only the subfolders will be allowed.

I’ve searched in settings.php file about that line and I doesn’t exist. I added it into the file and it didn’t work either.

Hi,
You must have an older version of the filemanager if this line doesnt exist in settings.php, make sure to download the latest filemanager plugin.

Hi, I have bought the plugin but it does not work in Wordpress version 5.6

Hi,
it should work in wordpress 5.6, what error do you see?

Good day

Is it possible to add 2 features to your product?

OPTION 1 Limit user uploads to a certain amount of files

OPTION 2 Limit user uploads based on Quota ie.10megs 50 megs, unlimited etc

What will the costs be to implement this

I really like your plugin and being able to do this will solve my problem

Regards

Pierre

Hi,
Sure, you can email me through my profile link here, I can do custom features.

Hello, I added this shortcode : [filemanager foldername=”wp-content/documents” groups=”administator” access=”ru”] and I’m getting this message on my front page : This shortcode is for administrator only (while I’m administrator).

Then I tried this : [filemanager foldername=”“] which is working ok.

Then this: [filemanager foldername=”” groups=”enseignant”] which is working fine for people with the role “enseignant”.

But this : [filemanager foldername=”*” groups=”enseignant, administrator”] is not working ! I have this error message : This shortcode is for enseignant, administrator only

On top of that, the error message is in english while I chose french as a language.

And I’m not able tp display other folders than the user folder (which I don’t want).

Could you please help ? It’s pretty urgent. Thanks

Thanks a lot, I just sent you an email with all the details.

Got it, replied.

I just saw the shortcode you mentioned:
[filemanager foldername="*" groups="enseignant,administrator"]
This is not a valid shortcode, you cant assign groups to the built-in shortcodes.

Hello,

I’m looking for a plugin that let me do the following :

- Add a shortcode on any page, to display a file manager : let the user see the files of a given directory, create directories, upload / download files - Depending on the user roles, they can make directories or not, upload or not, etc The plugin must let me decide which urser can do what, depending on their roles - Also I’d like to display different file manager on the pages : on a page it must display the content of a given directory. On another, it has to be another directory, etc.

I already bought a plugin call Advanced File Manager : it’s working exactly as I need except that there’s a bug with Elementor.

So your plugin has to work with elementor.

Could you please tell me if it’s possible to do all that ?

It’s pretty urgent…

Thanks for your answer.

Regards,

Hi,
Yes, this file plugin does exactly that, you can create shortcodes for different user roles with different folder and permissions. You can even assign multiple folders to a user or user role with different permissions.
It works fine with elementor.

and you can create directories in the frontend ?

Yes, if you assign read/write permission to a folder, users can create folders and files in the front-end.

Hello

a simple question but how do i delete a document?

Thank you

Hi,
If you have read/write access to a folder, you can just right click > delete. If you cant find it, it means you didnt choose read/write access when assigning that folder to yourself.

Hi, A bit of feedback regarding your FM plugin. Upon install, noticed the plugin has the “Allow Default Folders For Registered Users” feature enabled. That feature may create a massive amount of empty folders inside ”/wp-content/uploads/*, depending on the users registered in the given WP site. That’s an undesirable and cluttering behavior in our use case, as we don’t want such folders given to the individual users anyway. We had to clean up those folders manually, and make sure we’re not also deleting other important folders created by other plugins. Would suggest in the future you make such setting DISABLE by default, and/or provide a button to wipe those folders automatically when that setting gets switched off. Thanks for your consideration.

Hi,
Thanks for letting me know, I’ll disable the default folder by default in the next update.

Thanks for being receptive to the issue, but please also consider creating all those user folders to their own centralized location, as other plugins do, e.g. /wp-content/uploads/fm_users/* Otherwise, it’s still a cluttering and error-prone organization to have other plugin’s folders and user folders intermixed into the same branch.

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll try to add a subfolder inside the uploads folder for the default folders.

Hello, if I inspect the code of the page with the filemanager embed, there are 404 files: <page permalink>/css/elfinder.min.css (it’s strange it is looking for this file under the page path…) and also this items are missing in the folder I downloaded after purchase: /wp-content/plugins/advanced_file_manager_5/css/windows-10/images/16px/home.png /wp-content/plugins/advanced_file_manager_5/css/images/ui-bg_glass_75_e6e6e6_1×400.png /wp-content/plugins/advanced_file_manager_5/css/windows-10/images/16px/reload.png /wp-content/plugins/advanced_file_manager_5/css/images/ui-bg_glass_75_dadada_1×400.png

Hi,
Yes, there are some extra images missing from some third party themes, you can ignore them, I’ll fix them in the next update.

Ok thanks. Another thing is that in list view, columns are not the same size of the header… I don’t know how to show you here, may I contact by email?

Sure, email me, I’ll write some css to try to make them the same size. You can email me through my profile link here.

hello can you help me Zoho editor does not work well

Email me the backend access, I’ll fix it.

can you send me the update please? I can pay again for the cost of the plugin

Sure, no need to pay for it again, you can just email me.

Hi I am currently using WP Filebase Pro, but I am looking at changing. How difficult/costly would it be to transfer the WP Filebase Pro structures and documents to your plugin?

Hi,
It shouldnt be too hard, if you have folders you are sharing with your front-end users, you can easily assign the same folder to front-end users with the filemanager plugin and use its shortcode.
You can also assign multiple folders, with different permissions with a single shortcode if you want.
All you will need is to assign folders to users or user roles, and then use the shortcode you get, and paste it in any page / post.

Are you available to hire for customizations?

Hi,
Sure, email me through my profile link here.

Dear Advanced File Manager Author,

I purchased your plugin a few years ago, however, it will not allow me to update from the plug-in page. Because the installed version is 7.0 I am a bit worried about any vulnerabilites and would like to update to the 7.5.4 version which I just downloaded. Is it possible to update via FTP but keep the user permission settings in place?

Thanks,

Matt

Sure, I’ll try to put it back in the next update.

Thanks. And even better if it worked with the automatic updates feature.

Hi team, I hope you are doing well.

I’m writing you as we have started having issues with the “File Manager” plugin since last 15 days more and less.

It seems to be super super slow finally loading but it takes more than 43 seconds.

Those are our WP installation configurations that could allow you to have an idea. We are not facing any other performance issues, just this slow File Manager one:

Multisite: Yes Version: 5.1.1

WP_DEBUG: Disabled Memory Limit: 512M Operating System: Windows NT PHP Version: 7.2.15 MySQL Version: 5.6.43 Server Software: Microsoft-IIS/8.5 Memory Limit: 512M Post Max Size: 128M Upload Max Filesize: 100M Time Limit: 150 Max Input Vars: 1000 Advanced File Manager: 7.5.4

We have some screenshots that could allow you to identify easier where the issue could be happening, if you agree we can provide them to you, just email me to “iokin.pardo@bts.com”

In the console we see that for example this URL https://ibider.bts.com/kof/?red_fm_connect=true&cmd=open&target=l1_XA&init=1&tree=1&_=1611342594656 takes 43 seconds to load, while last month it took just 3-4 seconds.

Please let us know how to proceed in order to solve this urgent issue.

Thank you very much.

Hi,
This is strange, I am sending you an email.

I’ve just purchased new licence and 12 month support for a client as we had error coming up and error log showed php notices causing error.

I’ve installed new version but now when I view the filemanager – the error about not finding the file path has gone, but it just loads up a blank window, please can you advise?

is the directory structure saved anywhere I could access to ‘find and replace’ the path on the new server and keep the assignments of all users (as there are a lot of users)

Yes, you could access your database through phpmyadmin and search replace folder paths inside wp_red_file_manager table, make a table backup first though.

great thanks – will take a look

Can I check does this support PDF preview and also are updates provided via wordpress or do I need to download and update via FTP, if I do need to download and update will I lose previous settings and file directories?

Hi,
Yes, it supports pdf previews, and office documents previews along with images and text files.
You can download the updates and replace the old plugin without loosing the previous settings. You can either delete and replace with the new plugin in the wordpress dashboard or directly replace it from ftp.

Hi, is it possible to change the File Double-Click Action to open the file like the open function from the nav bar or right click menu?

Hi,
Yes, you can go to the settings page and change the file double click action to preview or download

Thanks, the settings I know, but there I can only vote between preview or download, not “open”. I like to open e.g. a pdf in a new tab with the double click. I found some comments for this reason on this site but no solution which I was able to do.

Email me, I’ll add the option to allow open the file along with download and preview and send it to you. I’ll add that to in the next update too.

I would like to change the ”Add folder” section in the backend. Now all folders from the root are shown here. I would like to show folders only from one folder. How can I change this?

Hi,
In settings.php inside the filemanager folder, you will find FM_SUB_FOLDER set to blank, you can write a folder name inside of it to only allow to show subfolders of that folder in the filemanager dashboard, here is the screenshot:
https://i.imgur.com/wdoEPxB.png
For example:
define('FM_SUB_FOLDER', "wp-content/uploads/");

Thank’s a lot – it works fine!

Hiya, I have purchased a regular license and have used this plugin a site of mine – really is amazing!

I was wondering if this comes with a lifetime of updates?

I understand the support offered by yourself expires in 6 months, but does that mean after 6 months I won’t be able to update the plugin to be in accordance with the latest WordPress versions/updates?

Thanks!

Hi,
The updates are free forever, only the support expires in 6 months.

Wonderful, thank you! Again, a truly fantastic plugin :)

Good day, Im having a hard time displaying the file manager in the front end. I try pasting the shortcode, but nothing is showing up. Can you please assists me?

Hi,
