Hi,

I have multiple questions:

1. I tested to upload a file to a users default folder (based on customer name) and the customer don’t receive any notification. How is that possible?

It’s already enabled in the settings.

2. Now if I create a customer automaticly it upload that folder to wp-content/uploads. Is it possible to do all the users folders to like wp-content/uploads/customers. So I can create an overview and no mess in the uploads folder.

3. About notifications. My customer is going to manage this file manager by FTP. So he goes to upload all the files directly from FTP to the customer folder. If their is a new file uploader. The user gets also a notification, right?

4. Is there a maximum of sending e-mails to the customer? Because I’m going to upload like 20 files in 1 day (spread out over the day) my client’s does not to get 20 e-mails. So I need something that it has a maximum of 1 mail per day.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,
If you use ftp or any other source to upload files to the folder, the filemanager wouldnt know about it and wont send any notifications, it will only work if you use the filemanager to upload.
Filemanager will send notification each time you upload a file, no limits.
You can use this free addon to change the default folder for users:
http://www.bloopes.com/products/filemanager/downloads/file-manager-default-folder-editor/

Make sure the default folder and user notifications are enabled in the settings page of the filemanager to allow the admin to notify the users and vice versa.

How do I upgrade from version 5.5 to latest version without losing any settings?

Hi,
You can just remove the old plugin and install the new one, you wont loose any settings.

One of our clients is trying to use this plugin however upon visiting the file manager page in the backend of the site they are simply shown a blank screen with no file directories, are you able to advise?

Hi,
Yes you need to first assign a folder to yourself, you can go to users page under the filemanager plugin and find your username, and assign any folder to yourself with preferably read/write permissions.

Hello, thanks for the quick response. We’ve already set this up and I can see that the folders are assigned. However, the main File Manager interface is completely blank.

Email me the backend access, I’ll check it out.

HI – I have created the following demo file [ https://demo2.cloudwp.dev/trial-98ty1zyt/no-advanced-image-editor/ ] which shows that no Edit Image using PhotoPea is available. All the options either show a view of the image or popup the simple Image Editor Now I use Photopea.com and undertand the value of the app – I would love to get it working for File Manager Advanced.

Jacques

Yes, my mistake, the images were deleted too soon. Here are two links which show PhotoPea NOT working in Advanced File Manager https://demo2.cloudwp.dev/trial-98ty1zyt/no-advanced-image-editor/ but working in Filester plugin. Here is the second post at my theOpensourcery.com blog https://www.theopensourcery.com/no-photopea-in-advanced-image-editor/10432/ In both cases I had the app photopea.com first running in the same chrome browser and then closed. In Filester PhotoPea did popup under the Edit Image command – not so in Advanced File Manager Two things to note: 1)PhotoPea in Filester is NOT displaying the the File menu nor the column of 9 edit options; 2)Advanced File Manager in dark mode hides the name of file when it is highlighted – see screenshot.

Any help resolving these issues will be appreciated.

Now the only reason image editors for not showing up is if you have removed “edit” from the context menu settings in the settings page, screenshot:
https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/8033668?key=9e731d6c0878a82192e0a01eca829cd7

Also it might take a couple of seconds for the editors to load up in the right click menu sometimes. They load after the filemanager is completely loaded.

Just purchased. Has a question but I think I sorted it out. I just don’t know how to delete a comment so I am just editing it.

I have uploaded the plugin through your cpanel, you can go to plugins and activate. I replied to your emails but not sure if you are getting my emails.

Not sure why the WP credentials were not working but thank you for the cPanel hack. I’ll log back in and activate.

Hello.. I’ve disabled “Allow Default Folders For Registered Users:” option from the setting. When I tried to enable it again, it didn’t worked. The plugin didn’t create folder for any new or old users.

How can I fix this?

No it wont change anything else.

I tried this put it didn’t work.. also I want to change default folder name & path so the plugin create subfolders in it.

Email me the admin access, i’ll check it out.
To change the default folder, you can use this free addon:

I just purchased File Manager looking to use the new PDF and PSD editor. However when I right-mouse click on either the uploaded PDf or PSD files none of the commands triggered the New Image Editor including Open, Preview, and Rotate commands. Also double-clicking on the files just produces a preview. My question – is there a special install step required to load and trigger the New Image Editor?

Hi,
You cant see image editor because the folder your are assigned is read only. You can assign the folder again with read/write permissions.

The uploads folder is read/write. The PSD file, 122k.psd is also read/write as seen in this info popup line: Permissions: read and write; Locked: no If I click on the Rotate and Resize rightmouse command for any of the JPG or PNG files in the uploads folder – the simple Image Editor pops up. But no sign of the new Advanced Image Editor

The image editor name is photopea, you should be able to see it if you right click a psd or any image, here is a screenshot:

Is it possible to just show a simple download list to the user? So no folder tree or toolbar?

Hi,
Its possible to hide the toolbar and folder tree with some css.

Hi, we are getting an Error: “Unable to connect to backend. HTTP error 0” – we have allocated a lot of resources to PHP – the settings have been unchanged for several years …. thanks barry

Got your email, will reply there.

Thanks J – incredibly speedy response and fix!

Hi there I’ve 2 questions Can I make user create folders without giving him a read/write permission? Can I get notified when any user delete a file?

Hi,
User will need read/write permissions to create folders. It wont work with read only permission.
To get notified when a user deletes a file needs this code to be placed in your child theme’s functions.php file:
https://gist.github.com/jamalkhan2k6/917d40de84b86223376cb6c2b65c8b71

Hello there, Your plugin seems to be a good one (all the reviews are greats !).

Can I use your plugin in order to put some pdf file in any customer account ?

And also, can I use your plugin in order to any customer to load files in his account ?

I mean : 1/ I create a customer (user) account 2/ I upload files only on his account (user account) 3/ the user (customer) print it out, make some commentaries, then upload it again on his user account.

I hope my question is “readable”

Have a great day !

Johan

Hi,
Yes, you can do all that.
You can individually assign each user their own unique folders, or there is a feature called “default folders for each user” which if enabled from the settings page will assign every user their own folder by their user name in the uploads folder.
It also lets you send notification email to the admin when a user uploads a file to their own default folder, and sends email to the user when admin uploads a file to any user’s default folder.

Hello @getredhawkstudio , Thanks for your quick answer !!! :)

2 little more questions :

1/ Security : What about security: since I will use “really private files” (not porn lol), Do you recommend me an extra plugin for this ? or yours will be fine ? Sorry for the question !

2/ Extra link. If I want to add a custom paypal link in an user account, will it be possible even if I use your plugin ?

Thanks again :)

If you have private files to share then you can add .htaccess file inside each user’s folder and add deny from all inside of that .htaccess file so no one would be able to access the files directly without the filemanager access. Also you can enable secure links from the filemanager settings page so direct links to the files wont work either.
You can add any text/content inside the page where you are using the filemanager shortcode to display folders to the users, like paypal link or anything else.

Installed plugin
Created user called “Libby”
Created page called ‘libby’ and added [filemanager foldername=”*“] shortcode

Logged in as user website.com/wp-admin
Uploaded files to directory /wp-contents/uploads/user

When I look at the page with shortcode, no files or functionality available.
View Source
reveals that the shortcode is loading
Inspect Console
“http:/website.com/libby/js/i18n/elfinder.LANG.js”. is missing
libby is the page name with the shortcode

is this the support page ?

When logged in as admin
I visit website.com/filemanager
The url redirects to website.com/#elf_l1_Lw
___________________________

When I log in using “mick” & “mick”
the page “filemanager” redirects to the index page.

filemanager page is set to be the home page, so it will redirect to the home. #elf_l1_Lw part of the page is to help remember the last visited filemanager folder, you wont have to browse every time to find the same folder you were working on.

Try the “mick” user again, it should be fine, I installed a different jquery migrate plugin.

Hi,

Your code seems to trigger quite a lot of PHP notices. You might want to look into it.

Some of the notices I get:

Deprecated: ini_set(): Use of mbstring.internal_encoding is deprecated connector.php line 10 `ini_set(‘mbstring.internal_encoding’, ‘UTF-8’); `

Notice: Undefined index: access_all connector.php line 76 `$access_all = $_GET[“access_all”]; `

Notice: Undefined variable: groups filemanager_strings.php line 271 `if($access_all 0 && $defaults 0 && $groups != “Everyone”){ `

Hi,
I’ll look into those, probably because of the a newer php version. I’ll make the fixes and update this week.

Hi, I have purchased 2 copies of this plug-in, which works really well for me.

As well as files, is it possible to upload files that just have a URL in text form, which can then be clicked to go to that site?

The reason is I have marketing materials for people to download, which include URL’s to videos etc and I just want them to have the URL, not the whole video, so they can send it to a prospect, if that makes sense

Hi,
There are no url files, the best you can do is upload a text file with the url and the users can view the text files and click on the link.

Hello if we install your plugin on our site where there are hundreds of images and create folders to store them, what happens to the posts that show those images? does the plugin rebuild the links? thanks

Hi,
The plugin doesnt do anything with wordpress images. It works independently and allows you to share files and folders with your users.

I need to create 10 folders to share some documents into a dashboard area were user can upload and download files . Can you send to me some tips’

Thanks

Hi,
You can go to users page under filemanager in wordpress dashboard and assign yourself a folder with read/write access. This folder can be wordpress root folder, or any other folder inside wp-content folder like uploads.
You will now see this folder in your filemanager page in the dashboard.
Now you can go to user group page or front-end access page and assign folder to any user role and copy the shortcode and display it in any page to allow users to upload and download files, use read/upload access to not let them delete files.
If you need to assign unique (different) folders to all users, then enable the default folders setting in the filemanager settings page and all the users will get their own folders, so you can share files with them individually. Here is the guide for default folders:
http://www.bloopes.com/products/filemanager/2018/06/06/default-folders/
You can find more user guides here:
http://www.bloopes.com/products/filemanager/guides/

Hello, when I try to open the uploaded files I got this error:

{error \”elFinderVolume\” does not exist”]}

How to fix that??

This is the full error message. I removed double quotations & putted spaces so you can see it:

{ error :[ errConf , errNoVolumes ], debug :[ Driver \ elFinderVolume\ does not exist ]}

Email me your backend access, I’ll see whats going on.

Is it possible to view multiple folders simultaneously and associate them from time to time to specific users?

Let’s say I have 3 users. 2 subscribers and 1 administrator. Each subscriber has a personal folder.

Is it possible for the administrator to view all 3 folders while the other 2 only view their respective folders?

Is it possible to add another folder in the list of visible folders so for example the 4th subscriber can see his own folder and that of the 1st subscriber?

Can you use a shortcode to do what I described above?

Hi,
All of that is possible, you can assign folders to any user, and assign admin their parent folder so admin can see all the folders users have. Users and admin can have multiple folders assigned to them which they can view at the same time, screenshot:
https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/6525748?key=ae7557a7cfd3b4aadff7131ec00c493f

Users can have shared folders and you can generate shortcode for users in the front-end to show them all their assigned folders.

Quale è lo shortcode da utilizzare per visualizzare più cartelle? Basta ripetere gli shortcode?

No you can use the shortcode:
[filemanager foldername="*"]
To show all the folders assigned to all the users. You will see this shortcode in the filemanager users page too, screenshot:
https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/6529825?key=b2a29f942ca74d0901263242975542db

Is there a more detailed changelog available? I am looking for more information on what Bug Fixes have been released.

Hi,
Not much detail about the updates are documented, I’ll make sure to add it in the next updates.

Hello, Each time I create a user, a folder named by his username is created in the wp-content\uploads folder How to deactivate this automatic file creation?

Hi,
There is an option in the settings page of the filemanager to disable “Default Folders for each user”

Perfect. thanks
