Are there any plans to create the UK Counties, in the same way that you have US States?

Hi! This is something that depends on the Google Geochart API to implement (the generator uses this API to generate the maps). But it’s a very popular request I think they will implement it at some point, but don’t know when since it doesn’t depend on me.

ok thanks. I’ll keep an eye out :)

Is it possible to have country, region (province) and a marker for city in the same map? I have country and region, but would also like to have a marker for the major cities.

Hi! Thank you for using the plugin. Unfortunately this feature is not available. You can use or markers or colour regions in one map, it is not possible to use both methods in the same map. This is a limitation of the Google Geochart API, which the plugin uses to generate the maps. I’m sorry for this limitation. Greetings, Carlos

Hello, I’m confused about Interactive Map Generator. Is it a standalone programme or a plugin ?

Thank you.

Hi! Thank you for your interest. It’s a standalone script. You work on a page (like the demo: http://cmoreira.net/interactive-maps-generator/ ) that will give you the necessary javascript code to include in your pages. It is not a plugin, although I also have a WordPress plugin version of this script. If you have any other question let me know. Greetings, Carlos

Hello. We have already purchased the plugin. Congrats for the good work. Everything is ok but, how can we make the round markers size bigger for lower resolutions (mobile phones, tablets, etc.), so it’s easier to click them with the finger? Thank you in advance. Antonio.

Currently the size of the round markers is 4. Bye

Hi! The marker size is not able to change in different resolutions, the map has to regenerate with a different value for the markers. An alternative is to make the stroke value of the circle, bigger with css. Write me a message via the contact form in the support tab, with the license key/purchase code and I’ll provide an example CSS. Greetings, Carlos

Hi! Have it Russia with regions?

Hi! Thank you for your interest! here are examples of Russia map: http://cmoreira.net/responsive-interactive-maps/category/russia/ If you have any other question let me know. Greetings, Carlos

Hi there!

I’m so glad with the pluging it works fine, but I have a problem with changing the content. I use the map to show events, and every month I have to add some new event. When this happends, I have to re entered all the previous events, plus the new one. There is any way to just add the new one?? Thanks in advance

Hi! Thank you for using the script! The generator has the ‘Current Settings’ tab info that you can save and load when you want to edit that map again. Does that option not work well for you? Greetings, Carlos

Ahh ok, I didn’t save it when I make the first one, so I suppose that I have to do it again and this time save the current settings so I can use them later on. is that correct? Thanks

Yes. You should save the ‘current settings’ field, so you can load them later. Hope it works. Cheers, Carlos

Hi! Thank you for purchasing the plugin! I see you also wrote me an email. I’ll reply to your email soon. Greetings, Carlos

Hi there,

How can I highlight multiple regions inside a map? I want to highlight upper north island and lower north island of new zealand.

Hi! To achieve that you’ll have to use the NZ – provinces map and add data the same data to the regions that compose those bigger groups. There isn’t a code that highlights all upper/lower in one entry. Sorry for this limitation. Hope the info helps. Greetings, Carlos

Hi again,

thanks for your fast response last time.

This time I have a different question. I used the region Europe as this is the area where my client operates, but he would like to add two more countries, Turkey and Georgia, which seem not to be part of that region Europe. How can add Turkey and Georgia (including giving them a different active color, tooltip and URL) while keeping the region Europe and that part of the map?

Thanks

Hi! Unfortunately this is a limitation from the Google Geochart API, which follows this structure: http://unstats.un.org/unsd/methods/m49/m49regin.htm This has been reported, and you can read more about it here: https://code.google.com/p/google-visualization-api-issues/issues/detail?id=809 Hopefully they will change this. Unfortunately I can’t do anything about this issue, since it’s a limitation of the API itself. The solution would be to use the World Map if possible. I’m sorry for this limitation.

LOVE your map generator – we used it to create a cleaner looking color coded map for the home page of our website. I tried several HTML (really javascript) generators as well that I found on Code Canyon – the issues with them was that the code was elegantly written but extremely bloated and all of the hyperlinks were contained in an external .js file which Google can not crawl. These things are major SEO considerations for us as the map appears on the top of our home page. So… at first I had hoped to color code our map and label it using your generator – not possible – but not your fault as it is a limitation with Google API. I ended up using your generator to create a color coded regions map which I then screen captured as an image file and turned into a hyper-linked image map using basic html (not bloated) that Google can easily crawl. We will be using your generator to color code regions in individual states and also several countries! Thank you very much for the generator. You can see what we created at http://www.engaygedweddings.com/ (I don’t know if the link will appear – we are engaygedweddings.com or engayged weddings DOT com ) – thank you again!

Hi! Thank yo for the feedback and for sharing your usage experience! Indeed the API has some limitations, hopefully they’ll improve it in the future. Thank you for sharing your site, the map looks nice! Good work! Good luck with your project! Cheers, Carlos

Good morning, I have just purchased this license, but I am not sure if this is the Wordpress version? Please excuse my ignorance, but I am a keen amateur learning to build websites…... Can you confirm if I can use this in a joomla site, and an HTML site please :bashful:

Hi. This is not the WordPress version. It’s a standalone version. You can open the index.html file and you’ll get the map generator. After you build your map you have the ‘embed code’ filed, with the code that you can put in the html part of your website. Hope it makes sense. If you have any other question let me know. Greetings, Carlos

Hi ! I’m trying to make an interactive map of france using the regions but I don’t know which “region code” use. I tried with those ones : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-2:FR, but it didn’t work …

Do you know where to find the right codes ?

Thanks for your help !

Hi! When you have selected region to display ‘France – Provinces’ and ‘Regions’ display mode, the codes that will work are:
FR-A
FR-B
FR-C
...
Just like the ones listed in the wikipedia link for the Regions. Department codes will not work. If you still have trouble let me know. Greetings, Carlos

Thanks to your advices, it works like a charm now. Thanks again !

Hi guys,

When I change the height and width it appears to adjust the entire page where as I only want to adjust the the height and width of the country itself.

How can I crop the map so that only my country shows on the webpage and not it’s surrounding backgrounds?

Hi! The maps are generated by the Google Geochart API, and the width/height settings for the API control the size of the map itself. Unfortunately the API doesn’t provide any option to zoom or crop the available maps. What I usually do is on regions mode to make the inactive region color transparent. It is possible with CSS to ‘hide’ the unwanted parts of the map, but this is outside the scope of the API so there is no option in the generator. Here are some examples of this technique in the WordPress version: http://cmoreira.net/responsive-interactive-maps/change-default-crop-css/ For the standalone version the css code would be slightly different. But you can write me a message via the contact form on my profile, if possible with a link to the page were you have placed the output code, so I can check which CSS would work better in your scenario. Greetings, Carlos

Hi guys,

How do we show two places in the same region? So lets say we have two retailers in region ABC. How do we show both of them?

Hi! One solution would be to place information for both places on the same tooltip or create a custom action to display the content below the map, similar to this example: http://cmoreira.net/interactive-world-maps-demo/world-offices-map-information-display/ This example is for WordPress, but for the standalone version it would be very similar. If you write me a message via the contact form on my profile I can point you out what change you need to make on the output code for the tooltips to render HTML and also how the custom action should look like. Greetings, Carlos

Hi guys,

Can we add links into the tooltips?

Thanks.

Hi there, we really need to be able to click on the links inside the tooltips. How can we achieve this?

If I provide you with the CMS Map page are you able to edit the settings for us to achieve the comment above?

Hi. Write me a message via the contact form on my profile page with the link to the page with your map so I can see what could be changed/improved in the code. We’ll follow up via email. Greetings, Carlos

Hi guys, I want to publicly thank “cmoreira” for assistance, he was really patient and kind…very very thanks!!! :)

Thank you so much for the positive words! :)

Hello

Can I display both markers and regions at the same time?

Hi! The generator uses Google Geochart API code to generate the maps and unfortunately they don’t provide any option to use both the regions and markers mode at the same time, in the same map. I’m sorry for this limitation. Greetings, Carlos

Hi “cmoreira”, I finally bought Interactive Maps Generator. I tried the script and it works fine.

I inserted the script on my website but it does not work well, there are problems:

1) the map is not responsive (I did not specify the size as recommended by the instructions);

2) I can not see the “Tooltip Text”.

I tried to put the script on a blank html page and it works fine, but on my site is not working.

I can communicate in private the link on my site so you can analyze it and figure out where is the error? Please, I do not know how to fix this error! :confusedsad:

Thanks a lot :)

Hi! Thank you for purchasing the generator! You can send me your URL via the contact form on my profile and I’ll take a look to see what could be wrong. Cheers, Carlos

...message sent! :)

Just replied, cheers!

Hi there, I thought that I was purchasing the ‘stand-alone’ version but looks like I got the WP version instead (which I don’t use). Any way I could get the DL for the ‘Stand Alone’? I don’t mind about the price difference.

Thanks so much for your help!

Hi! Sorry for this situation. The official way to solve this is to contact Envato Support and explain the situation. You can contact them here: http://support.envato.com/ (submit ticket option). Usually they understand the mistake and issue a refund. If you have trouble solving this, contact me through the form on my profile page and I’ll see what I can do. Cheers, Carlos

Ok, thanks! : )

Hi,

I love the plugin. I want to be able to link it to my categories however, so that when a use hovers over a country they can see the number of posts attached to the country’s categories, like shown on this site: http://www.neverendingfootsteps.com/where-ive-been/

How would I do that?

Thanks for your quick reply. Is there some coding I could do to make the counts be updated, or would it be a case of going into the Manage Maps screen each time and updating on an individual basis?

You can update it manually, editing the map at each update, yes. No need for new custom changes for this. But to make it automated it would require some heavy coding… I don’t have any quick short solution for this unfortunately but what I can do is point you on the right direction. Write me a message via the contact form on my profile and I’ll give you some tips on what code changes you can try. Greetings, Carlos

Pointing me in the right direction would be great. I’ll message you now!
