What happened to wpbakery? Column gap is not working? I already added the value and put it on a separate row, and it is still not working! This is very frustrating for a simple, basic thing to do and expect me to pay for support just for this basic issue?
Hello, We tested the column gap setting on two separate localhost setups, and it appears to be functioning correctly on our end. Additionally, we have not received any reports from other customers regarding issues with the column gap feature.
The issue you are experiencing might be caused by interference from a third-party plugin or theme on your setup. To confirm this, we recommend the following steps:
Take a complete backup of your site.
Deactivate all plugins except for WPBakery Page Builder.
Switch to a default theme, such as Twenty Twenty-Five.
Check if the column gap setting works as expected.
This process will help identify whether the issue is related to a third-party conflict.

which type of wpbakery element can i use to achieve this type of gallery here https://prnt.sc/Hh3v9vPLtfY9
NB: I want it on a single row so it can be responsive when viewing on mobile. Please which element or do I need to get addons to achieve that?
Hello, The screenshot shared by you has a gallery where images have variable widths. Unfortunately, the WPBakery Page Builder does not have an element with such functionality. It has an element called masonry media grid which allows you to display a gallery of images with variable height.

mster5 is absolutely right!!! There must be at least one difference between licenses that have already been purchased and new ones. Although I don’t think the entire pricing model is good. If there isn’t a change here soon, I also think that the plugin’s days are numbered. There must also be price-coordinated licenses for agencies and not just 2 out of 10 for free. The current case does not necessarily speak for the sovereignty of the plugin developer and I am very curious to see whether a reasonable agreement will be reached soon… GOOGLE TRANSLATOR
Hello, We deeply value the continued support from long-time customers like you. To acknowledge this, we offer discounted support renewals for users looking to renew the support tenure of multiple licenses in bulk.
As mentioned earlier, please feel free to reach out to us via our profile contact form, and our finance team will gladly assist you in availing of the discounted support renewal. We’re here to help and ensure you get the best value for your investment.
For agencies we have an agency license plan that starts at 20+ licenses and can be checked here: https://wpbakery.com/wpbakery-agency-program/

I urge you to take a close look at this feed and the overwhelming response from your long-time customers. The community has made its position very clear: requiring an active support license for automatic updates—a functionality that should be core to every WordPress plugin—is both unreasonable and unethical.
This policy forces users to resort to manual updates via cPanel or FTP, adding unnecessary complexity to a process that should be seamless. This change alienates your most loyal customers, many of whom have supported WPBakery for years, recommending it to clients and peers.
If you fail to address this, it will send a clear message that you neither value nor respect your customers’ feedback. Your long-term success depends on retaining the trust of your user base. Please reconsider this decision and restore auto-updates for existing licenses. Ignoring this feedback will undoubtedly lead to a significant loss of customers, myself included.
Hello, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We truly value the insights of our long-time users like you.
To clarify, the functionality of lifetime updates remains unchanged. Customers continue to have access to free lifetime updates for the plugin, which can be manually downloaded from their WPBakery account. This core commitment has not been altered.
An active support tenure, however, offers additional benefits such as auto-updates, access to the support portal, AI-powered tools, and more.
The manual update update does not require access to cpanel or FTP. The plugin can be manually updated via the site dashboard by deactivating the older version and installing the latest version.
In addition, we are also closely monitoring community feedback like yours, and your suggestions about auto-updates will be shared with the team for further discussion.

As others have stated in their recent review. This seems a bit of a “low hanging fruit” tactic for a large dev to force their already paid-up customers to pay for “support” they don’t need to facilitate auto-updates
We bought directly from them and to wake up to this 8.1 “Update and licensing mechanism is being improved for better handling of active licenses and support periods”
“Update failed: Automatically updates for the plugin are available to the clients with a valid support period – you can renew it here. To update manually, visit our customer center to download the latest version”
This is just sad for such a big developer to do!
Hello, Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. We truly value your feedback.
The lifetime validity of the plugin and access to free updates remains unchanged and has always been a commitment we’ve honored. The plugin can be updated manually if its support tenure has expired.
An active support tenure, however, offers additional benefits such as auto-updates, access to the support portal, AI-powered tools, and more. Renewing the support tenure is optional if such features are not required.

Hello, unfortunately you still don’t understand. We are not interested in support. The current licenses were purchased in the past and with the auto-update function. The breach of contract is your fault. You should change the new pricing model so that licenses purchased in the future do not have an auto-update function and the old ones keep it. Are there any internal discussions planned in this regard or are your customers not worth it to you?. Hence my advice with the PRO version of ACF. This is exactly how it was done here. You should also definitely list this important step visibly in your license overviews. Because this is not the case and is more likely to lead to accusations of fraud. I have been using WpBakery for several years. I have recommended it to all of my customers and also installed it. But if it is not the case that the old purchased licenses retain the auto-update function, I am sure that WPBakery will no longer exist in this form in the future. Even the theme developers have been offering WPBakery AND Elementor for a long time. Please do not misunderstand my message. I think WPBakery is one of the best pagebuilders but if there are no changes to the license I am very sure that you will not need to develop the plugin further as you will lose many old and new customers. -> Translate with Google Translator
Hello, We completely understand your concerns regarding the changes to the auto-update functionality. We remain fully committed to providing plugin updates for a lifetime, and this policy has not been changed.
The shift to requiring an active support plan for auto-updates is not intended to take away previously offered functionality but rather to ensure we can continue to provide a high-quality product and keep up with ongoing development, maintenance, and compatibility updates in a sustainable way.
We recognize the importance of this change to our long-term customers, and your suggestions will be discussed further by our team.
Our goal is to strike the right balance between maintaining fairness for our loyal users like yourself and ensuring we can invest the necessary resources into continuously improving WPBakery for the future.

Thank you for your answer. When do you think we can expect an answer regarding the old license and your thoughts on this?
Following on my previous comment, I’d expect you to undo the paid support requirement to get automated updates. You previously stated “To receive automatic updates license activation is required. Please visit Settings to activate your Visual Composer.” Now, it seems you are removing automated updates functionality to those having a paid license despite the fact you have been promoting this as a feature to buy the license previously. This is a clear misselling and needs to be reverted asap.
Hello, Updates for WPBakery Page Builder are available to all license holders for a lifetime, regardless of whether an active support tenure is in place. You can always manually download the latest version of the plugin from your WPBakery account at no additional cost.
That said, an active support tenure introduces additional benefits, including automatic updates, access to the customer support portal, AI-powered tools, etc.
The license activation is still first a requirement for accessing automatic updates. The automatic updates cannot be accessed without a license being active on the website. The second requirement is an active support tenure.

I think you’re misunderstanding something: This isn’t about the added value of support. We would pay more for that if we needed it. It’s about the decision to only update the plugin via FTP. There is absolutely no other plugin in the entire WordPress family that can be only updated via FTP. The plugin overview in the WordPress dashboard is a fundamental element of the open source WordPress system and with your new pricing model you are not only cheating those who have bought and trusted your plugin for years but also the functionality of how WordPress provides updates. Feel free to come up with a different pricing model but change the function again. I hope that the function will be back in the next update of the plugin. How do you feel about thinking about all this again? Do you plan another option? I also see completely different problems: As soon as the new pricing model really gets around, WPBakery will probably not be around for much longer and customers will use other pagebuilders. That’s exactly what I don’t want, because I see WPBakery as a very good plugin, but I also know my customers and they won’t play along. GOOGLE TRANSLATOR
Hello, The WPBakery Page Builder remains committed to providing lifetime updates to all of our users. This core promise has not changed. We have been delivering plugin updates for the past decade and will continue to do so.
You can access the latest plugin version and manually update it via your WPBakery account without any additional cost, ensuring your licenses remain valid and functional as always. The manual update requires you to deactivate and delete the older version of the plugin and then install the latest version that can be downloaded from the downloads section of your account.
The introduction of automatic updates under an active support tenure was not intended to diminish functionality but rather to provide additional convenience to our users. We made this decision to allocate resources to ongoing development and support while ensuring a sustainable model for the long-term future of WPBakery Page Builder. The WordPress ecosystem has evolved significantly, and this adjustment allows us to continue innovating, maintaining compatibility, and delivering high-quality updates. This approach helps us strike a balance between delivering exceptional functionality and ensuring the longevity of WPBakery for all users.

A recent update has disabled automatic updates unless you renew ‘support’ each year.
I don’t require ‘support’ and this bait and switch from what was originally purchased means I will be dropping this plugin as soon as I’m able.
The plugin purchase includes lifetime validity with free manual updates for life (as per second method here: https://kb.wpbakery.com/docs/getting-started/update/). Starting from version 8.1, an active support tenure is required to enable automatic updates, along with access to the support portal, AI-powered tools, and additional features. You can renew support at https://support.wpbakery.com/licenses. If you do not need these services, renewing the support license is optional and entirely at your discretion.

Unable to update in WP Admin, the following error is displayed

I’m not asking for support nor I need it, I’m simply updating the plugin to a newer version which now fails. Are you now expecting a further payment, on top of already paid license fee, in order to update the plugin?

As stated above I don’t need support. It’s just pure ignorance and phony selling tactics on your part. You sold license “with automatic updates”. I don’t accept your response and your handling of this issue.
Hello,
I believe there is a bug or unintended behavior in the CSS editor in version 8.1. When saving or submitting custom CSS, the editor also saves and publishes the entire page, rather than just updating the custom CSS. This behavior is quite inconvenient.
Could you please look into this issue?
This change has been implemented from version 8.1 where pages will be saved on updating the CSS. Can you share more details about the issue this is causing? A screen recording of the problem will help us.

There are two major issues after updating to version 8.1.0:
1. Switching between the backend editor and the classic editor reloads the page completely, causing any progress made in the editor to be lost. In previous versions, the button functioned as a JavaScript toggle. Can you please revert the button to function as a JavaScript toggle?
2. There is no “Save Settings” button when adding custom CSS—only “Save Draft” or “Publish/Update” options are available. This prevents saving settings and continuing editing immediately, as the page has to reload. Can you please restore the “Save Settings” button?
Hello, 1) There were changes made related to the backend editor in 8.1 which required a reload for it to be loaded correctly. However, it is on our improvement list to be improved in future releases.
2) The settings are automatically saved when you save the draft or publish the page using the respective button within the page settings. As the save setting button was only adding an extra step, it was removed. When you edit it again, the update option within editor window can be used.

Hello Rohan,
1. I really hope it goes back to how it used to be. I used to copy and paste long shortcodes and see them appear as elements in WPBakery editor immediately.
2. It’s very inconvenient; I can’t review my changes this way.
hi – my support is grandfathered in as I bought VC years ago. Question: lately my wp isn’t keeping your pagebuilder as defult and I hae to click after each edit to reset it back to yours – any ideas why? thx
Hello, By default the classic editor is displayed. If you are getting Gutenberg editor, then you can disable it under: WPBakery Page Builder -> General Settings.
Once the page is built in WPBakery Page Builder, it will be available as the default editor for editing.

Hello, I also find the new pricing model to be unsustainable. WpBakery is mainly purchased by freelancers and agencies and is then used to create websites for their customers. The end customer is overwhelmed with an update via FTP and the new pricing model is disproportionate to other page builders. The auto-update function should be removed from the new pricing model and if you want support you can pay more. At least you should be smart enough to offer agency licenses WITH auto-update at an affordable price. If it stays that way, the departures from WpBakery will be large… Or at least old licenses will retain the auto-update function as other large plugin developers have already done – see ACF. But your current approach, including the very high prices, is disproportionate to your plugin, which has ALWAYS been great. But you can no longer offer it to the end customer like that. I myself manage almost 40-50 licenses for my customers and that is completely unrelated both in terms of effort and price. Translate with Google Translator – sorry for my english…
Hello, The plugin can be manually updated by deleting the existing version and then uploading the newer one via: Plugins -> add new -> upload.
The plugin license can be transferred from one account to another. If the end customer is looking for features such as auto-updates, then the license can be transferred into their account so that they can extend the support tenure themselves.
We do have discounts available for support renewals of Agency licenses. If you are looking to extend the support tenure in bulk, then please feel free to drop a ticket via the customer center: https://support.wpbakery.com/ so that the finance team can guide you further with it.

I’ve used Visual Composer for years and hold around 10 licenses. Receiving the message that updates require active support for each license is beyond frustrating.
Updates are critical for functionality and security. Expecting customers to maintain separate support plans for every license feels unreasonable and out of line with industry norms.
Please reconsider this policy, as it undermines the value of your product for loyal customers like me.

Hi there,
It seems that your Masonry Media Grid has issues on Safari 18
Here you have a link to the issue:

To demonstrate that, I have created I’ve created a video (using default WP Theme):
