To change the permalink, please go to the plugin admin settings and then add the permalink inside the “Custom slug of timeline stories” input box. In the vertical timeline layout, the dropdown menu includes timeline categories, while it does not contain the year values, year labels options found in the year navigation. In contrast, the horizontal layout features a dropdown for year values, allowing you to display both categories for filtering and year labels on the frontend in dropdown menu.

Hi, I figured it out. I had to change the slug on the categories from, for instance, “1972” to “year-1972”, then they all appear in the drop-down.
