Hi there, just bought your plug-in and am loving it so far. The only issue I am running into is special prices on my variable products. It doesn’t seem to take those into account when showing the price, is there any fix known for this?
Hey Rob, thanks for purchasing. The plugin works with default variable prices, my guess is another plugin is manipulating the prices and ignore Tax Toggle, so it’s the other plugin which is likely incompatible, not Tax Toggle. Hard to know without getting more information. You can read FAQs or get support from https://desk.thetwopercent.co.uk/
Hi, just purchased the tax toggle plugin and tried to activate it and woocommerce won’t allow me as it says it’s not compatible with ‘High-Performance order storage’ feature, I don’t want to disable the HPOS just to use this plugin.
Is there an updated version of the plugin that is compatible please?
Yes there is, just open a support ticket with me with your purchase code and I can send it to you. Thanks. Support area – https://desk.thetwopercent.co.uk/index.php?a=add&category=2
Hi I purchased this a long time ago and successfully ran it on my site. Im looking to refresh the site and change the theme, so have created a staging site (so everything ported over)
With the new theme loaded the toggle function doesn’t work. All settings from my original set up are the same. Any ideas?
Hi Andy, it could be an incompatible theme (but that is pretty rare) or an incompatible plugin (i.e. another plugin filtering the prices instead of Tax Toggle). I would follow this guide “just to be sure” – https://desk.thetwopercent.co.uk/knowledgebase.php?article=2 But also deactivate other WooCommerce plugins to see if one is stopping Tax Toggle working. To be honest that is fairly unlikely too. More likely tax is not setup or something.
Hi there,
Love the plugin. Worked fast and quick. Short question:
I have product in sale. It shows it like this (old price/new price). The old price has a strikethrough:
€ 499,95 Incl. BTW. € 399,95 Incl. BTW.
I think the incl/ex VAT should only be in the new sale price. So like this:
€ 499,95 € 399,95 Incl. BTW.
Could u guide me on how to achieve this?
Sorry I missed this, this should be done with CSS to be honest. In a future version I might add a filter for this, but for now, CSS is the way. Target the price and display:none the suffix.
I have purchased the plugin and using it through shortcode: echo do_shortcode(‘[wootax]’);
Although I can not find any info to achieve the toggle button as displayd in the demo: https://demo.taxtoggle.com/
I get the floating toggle button solution also when adding the shortcode.
How to achieve the toggle styling as the demo seems to indicate its availability?
Hi there, this is using some custom CSS to display it as an iOS style toggle. Here is the base of the styles – https://gist.github.com/thetwopct/646e8b627f81961575fa74b55c5ab04d
This style will also be included in Version 1.4.0 of the plugin, which is currently awaiting approval by CodeCanyon (normally 7-14 days waiting time)
Hi
I’m trying to insall your tax extension but when I download and try, i get the error – Incompatible Archive.

Hi Martin
There is a bug in the latest WordPress 6.4 and how it handles ZIP files. Please open a ticket with me and I will send you the latest version of the plugin https://desk.thetwopercent.co.uk/index.php?a=add&category=2 Thanks James
Do you have any working demo so I can show to client?
This author’s response time can be up to 1 business day. But It has been 3 days,
Yes, 1 business day for purchasers, not for pre-sales questions. Quick demo site https://neat-iguana-0ef42b.instawp.xyz
Thanks for reply. I will purchased the plugin thats why I asked to show client. Can you change the button into toggle? and make sure that demo link not expire until next 24 hours.
Also, check its not workring or cart: https://neat-iguana-0ef42b.instawp.xyz/cart/
The cart and checkout should not toggle but use your stores settings. This demo site is also using the WC Blocks, not Cart Shortcode – their actions differ. The demo site will expire in 48 hours. The iOS toggle is custom CSS at the moment (we supply), although Version 1.4.0 will include the iOS toggle by default.
Will it work on cart page on my site?
There are two ways to insert the Cart – the new buggy Cart block and the Classic Cart which this plugin has always worked with by altering the totals. I have updated the demo to be the Classic Cart. This plugin makes some basic changes to the Classic Cart, but never toggles the prices on the cart. The plugin should not alter the cart or checkout pages as these are the FINAL prices the custom will pay, this is how the plugin has worked for 9 years. So on the cart/checkout you take the address of the customer and update the tax based on their address, or you remove the tax based on their Tax ID etc. Please tell me what you think should happen. What do you expect it to do on the cart precisely? If it’s a valid idea and not confusing I can develop it.
I can understannd but the same function I am already using with a free plugin. I thought this paid plugin should exempt the tax on cart If user click on toggle.
With over 10,000 sites using this plugin I feel like the description of the plugin is very clear. It is not clear what you need. If a toggle removes tax from a users cart/checkout without any further checks, why would anyone willingly pay tax? This makes no sense, and zero legal sense for a business. I think you need to understand your clients needs and their business more. If you can be clear with what you want, perhaps I can help you, but currently you are not making sense or being clear.
Ok, I will discuss it with client.
Hi, Are you planning to make the plugin compatible with PHP 8+?
Hi Tozbey! The Plugin works with PHP 8.1 and 8.2 without issues. Here’s a demo valid for 48 hours https://gracious-grasshopper-c00a52.instawp.xyz
Yes it worked now. Thanks for your quick reply!
Hi, do you have a demo somewhere? I want to see how the on/off button looks like/works. Also does it matter if we add products with or without tax, as long as we have tax-settings set up?
- Anne
Hi Anne, here’s a demo site using the standard toggle button. The button can also be embedded in to the page with shortcode or PHP and can be styled any way you want (we have an iOS style toggle available) https://gracious-grasshopper-c00a52.instawp.xyz This is running latest WordPress, WooCommerce, PHP 8
I’m using the plug-in with the Divi theme and I’m using the ‘Yes, I will enter prices inclusive of tax’ setting in Woocommerce. I’ve changed the plugin settings by checking the ‘Activate Tax Toggle on load’ option. If I toggle to show prices without tax, it works fine on the category and product pages. However, if I add something to the cart and then go to the cart it shows the individual item prices including VAT. Is there a fix for this please?
Sorry, I’ve just read your answer to other queries like this and I understand that this is the expected behaviour. I’m going to discuss with my client.
Hey, the toggle works differently on cart and checkout screens (these two screen often use the same Woo code) and only toggles the tax as a line item near the total. This is because the cart/checkout use your store settings (i.e. Inc Tax) so show Inc Tax. Showing the toggle here could be confusing, as ultimately what the customer pays is based on your store/cart/checkout settings, not the toggles value. I’ve always felt it would be misleading to show anything else. But recently I’ve had a lot of questions about this recently for some reason, so I will try to implement it as an option in the future. But for now, the plugin does state how it works on checkout/cart in the description, so this is not an “issue” or problem with the plugin, but is intended behaviour. If you really need it to be activated now, this would require custom code to activate the toggle on the Cart. Any developer can do this, likely 1-2 hours work, unfortunately I am not in the position to offer custom work at this time. Thank you.
Thanks for getting back to me and I understand what you’re saying. It would be great if this could be implemented as an option in an update soon please. My client’s site is a UK based site with the majority of customers paying VAT. However they also sell to overseas customers who don’t pay VAT and these customers will straightaway toggle to see prices without tax. It is then confusing for them to see the prices including tax in the cart.
How is the store detecting where the customer is from so it knows how/when to apply tax? If it’s on their shipping address, the customer would need to login/register to see the removed tax. If it’s on their geolocation, it should display accurately? If you are using another plugin to handle removing tax, it may have an option to amend the cart values based on the user. You may also need to add a note to your cart/checkout that says something like “Tax will be removed from your final order based on your shipping location” etc.
The customer can choose their country using the ‘Calculate shipping’ option on the cart page or the country dropdown on the checkout page. In either case they then see the prices without VAT. They don’t need to register or log in. I think a note on the cart/checkout page is a good idea, thanks.
Hi James,
I need a VAT switch for my website and was pleased that your plugin exists and bought it directly. But it does not work in some places. https://jaegermediagroup-server2.de/product/product-short-name-19/Can you have a look at what is wrong. I will also give you direct access as admin for my website. https://jaegermediagroup-server2.de/wp-admin/ guest_admin BI!XW(9Cf#aTC0#W6hGbfiHq
I hope you can help me with the problem. If there are any costs involved, please write to me too.
Thank you very much, Kay
Hi Kay, thanks for purchasing Tax Toggle. It seems you are using (I think) Woo Custom Product Add-ons for the add-ons part of the page. This plugin stores all the price add-ons info and markup as a JSON object in the page (inspect element on the area you will see lots of info) and does not allow us to hook in to the plugin to add/remove tax. This would need custom code and specialist customisations either from the developer of that plugin or a developer who knows how to manipulate their output. Thanks, James
Hello,
I have purchased the tax toggle plugin.
I can’t get the shortcode options to work.
I’ve tried.
[wootax]
and the other php codes.
My site is www.yolkstorage.co.uk
I can get the widget to work for the header menu. I can get the floating button to work.
I can also get the shortcode to work on a blank page, however it spans the whole width of the page and only displays at the top, not where I insert the shortcode.
Would I be able to share a login with you so that you can take a look?
My customer basically wants the toggle to display directly above the prdocuts on the homepage and on the prices page but nowhere else.
Thanks
Alan
Likely conflicting with your theme or page builder. If you can activate the plugin (perhaps on a staging site) and then send me the login I can definitely have a look – you can send me the details here https://desk.thetwopercent.co.uk/index.php?a=add&category=2
Test
Hi, thanks for making this plugin, comes in really handy. I’m having some troubles with it though. The toggle is not always responding to a cursor click. Sometimes it does sometimes it doesn’t. Can you point me in the right direction to fix it?
current domain: https://ditisjewebsite.nl/mhmn-woo/
Hi for testing purposes I have setup the default toggle here: https://ditisjewebsite.nl/mhmn-test-11-01-24/
Same problem occures
Okay, i think it has to do with the litespeed caching plugin. Can you inform me what I have to exclude from caching/minifying/etc css and JS?
I’ve found wcvat.js. What else should I exclude?
hello?
Hey Onnem, I have checked the link you gave https://ditisjewebsite.nl/mhmn-test-11-01-24/ but the button consistently works every time I click on it, checked in Chrome and Safari and iOS Safari. The only thing I can think of is that it could be a z-index issue with other elements on the page. If the “no clicking” happens, right click in the same place and inspect element. If the Tax Toggle is not showing in the code then that is the element that is causing the issue. If the CSS is loading, then Litespeed / cache / CDN should not make any difference. Hope that helps.
Hi, I have send a support ticket to your site some weeks ago but never received an answer.
1. I would like to receive the latest version please 2. I am using the tax toggle function as listed here: https://gist.github.com/thetwopct/646e8b627f81961575fa74b55c5ab04d Can we only show the text “incl tax” or “excl tax” depending on the toggle. Text should be in front of the toggle. 3. In the cart we cannot see the cart totals (price including shipment) when the toggle is set to excl tax.Can I please get an answer?
Hi I just installed Tax Toggle. It works fine in my product pages. I can display product prices with tax. but in the cart page I still get the prices excluding tax. The tax is given only at the bottom of my shopping cart, as a total tax.
Is there a way to display prices including taxes for each product in the cart page too ? Thanks Pierre
Hey Pierre. Thanks for purchasing Tax Toggle. Yes this is default behaviour of the plugin, as the cart and checkout should inherit your stores actual Tax settings, as this is the time when the customer will be checking out and should see the actual rate they will pay. You can of course include ways for the customer to formally remove tax from their order (i.e. by providing a Tax ID – https://www.businessbloomer.com/woocommerce-remove-tax-checkout-field-value-exists/). If you really really want this feature, a developer should be able to help you customise your site and the plugin, from the top of my head I think you can call the plugins filter on the cart contents and then prices will be shown inc/exc. I will endeavour to add more control of the checkout/cart in a future update. Thanks, James
Thanks for your prompt reply. In that case, this plugin is not useful for me. In that case, Is there a possibility that I could get refund ?
Regards
Pierre
Of course! You can apply for a refund via CodeCanyon, but they may not give it to you (I do not have any power over refunds) as the plugin is not at fault. The plugin clearly states on the description page:
For a better user experience, the WooCommerce Cart and Checkout behaviour are different from other pages. On the Cart page, the tax toggle shows/hides the tax and total order in the order summary. It does not toggle the individual items as this could be confusing for the customer.
On the Checkout the toggle is hidden because the tax is displayed as per the checkout rules. e.g. by what location is selected in the address.
So I can see a few issues – 1) it’s a feature that we do not offer and 2) we can not offer free customisation when you request a feature we do not offer and 3) this is a customisation that is confusing to customers. Like I said, any slightly proficient developer could add this modification, Chat GPT could probably do it too, so you should probably just do that as there is no other plugin that does this.
Hi,
I really love this plugin. We just need a way to not use the “from: minimum price” when variable and keep the range (minimum price – maximum price) when variation is not selected
I have found that you have a filter in general.php that $default give the from and $price the range.
How can i just disable the from?
HI there i have couple of group products in a client woocommerce store would this work under the group product too?
Yes Simple, Grouped, Variable, Sale Products are all dealt with by the plugin
I would like to purchase the plugin but need it for a specific purpose.
I would like the toggle to be activated to Show Price including VAT when the user comes through a certain Google Ad. Would i be able to add a variable to the URL to make it toggled on when coming through the ad. But off if the user comes through a different ad or direct to the site.
Thanks
Hi Mike, that’s not possible out of the box using this plugin, but any WordPress developer should be able to do that. Tax Toggle 2.0 will have this option, but that is not released yet.
Hi, How would I be able to check the toggle state or cookie value in PHP?
I want to use the toggle state combined with some other PHP conditions in order to echo, or not to echo, fields.
Fixed it with the following (checks if the toggle is unchecked):
if(isset($_COOKIE[“woocommerce_show_tax”]) && $_COOKIE[“woocommerce_show_tax”] == ‘false’)
Yes exactly correct, detecting the users cookie “woocommerce_show_tax” is the best way
