Pre-sale questions here. I am looking for a plugin that provides a football table, fixtures, and results for a newly established club in the second league of Ukraine.
Functionalities we need are the following:
- League table with options to sort by different parameters with criteria we set.
- Fixtures, list of matches, and results.
- The table is linked to and dependent on the results that we enter in the backend.
- Display and automatically update the last match result and the next match on the home page.
- Display the table, automatically updated, on the home page.
- In the results list, display only our team’s results, not the entire league’s.
We have seen two plugins: League Table and Soccer Engine.
Which one suits our needs? Is it customizable? Can we include only those functionalities that we need and switch off/remove all others so the website speed is not affected? Thanks

1. This type of tournament can be created with multiple round-robin competitions (one for each initial group) and a elimination competition for the final elimination phase.
2. The team information can be modified for each match. In the plugin, the “Squads” are team information presets used for matches, and the “Teams” are general team information.
3. Yes, through the Capabilities section of the options.
4. Not for the back-end. Please note that we apply a refund guaranteed policy for the first 30 days if you want to try it.

The data can be retrieved from external sources using the included REST API. Note that the integration between the REST API of the external service and the plugin REST API should be implemented by the plugin user.

if you mean the ability to update the front-end layouts like commentaries or results etc. without refreshing the page this is not possible at the moment. A page refresh is required to see the latest data.
In terms of updating the plugin data in real time based on external sources (E.g. A sport data provider), this is possible using the plugin REST API endpoints. Note that the integration for the specific data provider (data provider to plugin REST API endpoints) should be created by the plugin user.

The colors and the typography of the included 33 front-end layouts is customizable with the plugin options.
Layouts are added with dedicated editor blocks (or shortcodes for the classic editor).
Note: This is a WordPress plugin. There are no WordPress themes included.

yes, all the data added in the back-end and available in the plugin can be read with the REST API. You can use these data for example in external programs, WordPress blocks or templates, mobile apps, etc.

the plugin is not connected with a data provider and comes only with demo data. The data should be added manually via the plugin back-end menus or automatically with the POST endpoints described in the REST API section of the plugin page.
Note that that plugin currently has one single POST endpoint to submit the match events. Additional POST endpoints will be added in future plugin versions.

Can’t you add a feature to the post editor where we can easily access shortcodes? For example, when we search for a team name, it gives a short code or a convenience that we can add directly to the text.

the plugin comes with dedicated editor blocks. The shortcode are currently used as a fallback and only documented in the plugin manual. However, we are planning to add a dedicated menu to generate them based on selections similar to the ones performed with the blocks. Specifically in this menu you will have to select the type of element and the related parameters.

I found an example with a prediction sent by the users. Do you want to include an optional column in the matches with a column title like “Your Prediction” and include the an “1/X/2” categories with the related percentage or number of votes for each results? There will be obviously also a functionality to collect the predictions.
You are talkin about the Toto-Precitions, right? So just Win, Draw, Loss (1,0,2). Well, i would prefer to have different possibilities:
(1) Toto-Prediction like you mentioned it and a (2) result prediction, where user can enter a predicted result like “home 1, away 2” and you can set points given in the settings:
For (1): Set Points for corrent prediction For (2): Set points for correct prediction, for correct tendency (correct win, draw, loss like in Toto) and Bonus points for correct goal difference added to tendency points.
And then we need a user ranking that shows users with their points and maybe some other info like:
For (1) correct predictions (all, wins, draws, losses), earned points, lost points, possible points, percentage For (2) correct predictions (all, wins, draws, losses), correct tendencys, corrrect goal differences, earned points, lost points, possible points, correct, percentage (all, correct predictions, correct tendencies, correct goal differences).
It would be pretty cool to have prediction pools so that we can add different pools to every competition like “Friends free”, “Friends payed”, “colleagues free” so that there is a jackpot that can be earned by the best predictors (i think just a playpal payment would be enough here).
Another cool feature are “bonus questions”. Something like: Douple points for selected matches or Who will win Group A or Competition X, who will be 2nd place, 3rd place. Who will shoot most goals, get the most cards, etc.
There is so much I can suggest and your plugin is the ideal platform for all this
If you want to have example plugins that do similar: Football Pool (WordPress Repo), pure predictions plugin without all the great features of soccer engine) or a much bigger one: JoomSports (free version available in WordPress Repo)

The plugin REST API currently have endpoints to read all the plugin data but only one endpoints to write the plugin data, specifically to write the events of the matches.
As a consequence you would have to:
- Adapt the data from the data provided.
- Optionally create new REST API endpoints in the plugin if you want to add data other than the match events.
Also, can you add separate pages for matches and teams, and a REST API for those pages? The plugin’s work for me depends on it.
The plugin has separate blocks/shortcodes for matches and teams, so you can display these data on different pages if needed.
For the REST API, matches and teams data are available as GET (read) endpoints.

I did not fully understand this part. For example, can’t you create a separate page for Arsenal vs Manchester United?
It will be very difficult for me to create a different page for each encounter. This should be created automatically.

you can display data associated with multiple matches in the same page, for example with the Matches block. You can also add data related to specific teams on dedicated pages by using different blocks or by targeting teams with the Matches blocks.
My recommendation is to try the different blocks and find which ones are the most appropriate for your website.

Would be amazing if was possible to add football/Soccer TV Schedule as no plugin out there does it. That I know of anyways.

Technically the limits of the date picker should be set in multiple JavaScript files, then these JavaScript files should be bundled with Webpack (this part is quite complex and requires particular settings that we have already in place). As I consequence I don’t recommend to manually perform this change as a plugin user.

Additional: I have some wishes for the future 
- it would be great to be able to translate javascript contents like your date picker (months, days).
- It would also be fine to have some more events like “corners”, “freekicks”, “penalty”, “match suspension”, Yellow-Red Card (double yellow) and of course assists. For all types of goals,
- it would be amazing to add something like shoot by foot, head, breast, knee (maybe more custom) and the position, where the ball landed (top right corner of goals, bottom center of goals, etc.
- abbreviations for team names would allow names to braeak into their abbrevations on responsive modes.
i am pretty sure there will be more in the future.

The more I work with soccer engine, the more I see that it forces me to use nearly every content part and this is not very efficient.
I would love to work on a proposal for you guys. Would you allow me to work on a blueprint for a more efficient and easier backend? It will take a lot of work but I would really love to help to make this plugin outstanding.
Some examples:
The description field is mandatory. But why is it important to describe a player position? Or a stadium? Or a match?
When creating a match, it’s not possible to add events like goals without assinging a player. That means, for every league I create,. I have to add every of the thousands players of the league to add a match result. Why is it not possible to add matches with halftime, full-time results or just amount of cards and other events without having players of teams?
Guys, I love soccer engine. But it could be a lot better. Is it okay for you if a work on a mind map for a redesign?
It will only be a proposal. You don’t need to add anything or code it. But I would love to help making this plugin the only one desirable on the market.
