Can a single user be linked to more than one private folders?
The plugin currently only supports manually linking of users to a single Private Folder. With the Private Folders in automatic mode, you can link the user with multiple Private Folders, but you will need a separate module for each of them. If the user should access a folder that all users can see, you can basically add two different shortcodes as well. One shortcode pointing to the folder that all users should see, and the second shortcode pointing to the users Private Folder.
Another approach would be use Shortcuts in the Google Drive. With this feature you can basically create a single folder for your user on Google Drive, link this folder to the user via the plugin, and place shortcuts via the Google Drive webinterface to the folders where the user should have access to.
Example folder structure:/ /Documents /Content /Content/Folder 1 /Content/Folder 2 /Clients/Client C1 (You link User C1 in the plugin to this Folder) /Clients/Client C1 /Folder 2* (shortcut to the folder in the Content folder) /Clients/Client C1 /Documents* (shortcut to the folder ...)
I hope that helps!

Perfect! That solves my issue completely. Thank you for the solution.
Just one more thing, when I am trying to preview some excel files that I have uploaded in the drive, I get an error that says “Google Docs encountered an error. Please try reloading this page, or coming back to it in a few minutes.”
This does not happen for any other file formats, just the excel files.
Do you have any idea why this is happening or how to overcome this?

It is interesting indeed. I think I have figured out what the problem is with Google Docs previewer. I have opened a support ticket explaining the reason, please see if something can be done.

Hi…is there a way for non-admin users to share a file or folder which they have uploaded with another user created inside the Wordpress?
Hi there! I am not sure if I understand your question for 100% so let me give a quite general answer.
The plugin displays the files stored on your Google Drive via its modules. Each module can point to a specific folder on your Google Drive. If you upload a file to a folder, the other user can only access that file via an Use-your-Drive module which has access to the same folder. If you are (e.g.) using the Private Folders, it isn’t possible to ‘share’ a file with another user where the file is basically copied into the private folder of the user. Besides that, you can of course use the ‘Share’ action on the file which will create a shared link to the file on Google Drive and which you can share.
I am not sure if this answers your questions, so feel free to provide a little bit more detail of the flow you are looking for if needed. You can also create a support ticket via the link below so we can discuss it in more detail.

I only need the plugin to do one thing >stream video on my wordpress. So, can I just upload video and then embed it on my post? How does it work? Any restriction?
Yes, you can indeed stream media files stored on your Google Drive with this plugin. You can see a video demonstration of this via https://vimeo.com/645169833.
BTW, if you are mainly using the plugin to stream media files and if it is an option for you to use OneDrive, Dropbox or Box, I would recommend you to use one of deleeuw/portfolio”>those plugin versions. Those cloud services can stream the video files faster and more efficiently than Google Drive.
And feel free to test the plugin on both Front-End and Back-End via the demo website in the link below.

Can you add the “Download” button directly to the menu? So that you don’t have to open “Download as” how is it implemented in your OneDrive plugin?
Thanks for your question! I am not sure if I understand it correctly though. There isn’t a ‘Download’ button available for Google Docs as that isn’t a file with binary content (i.e. you can only work on it in Google Docs itself). So you basically have decide as what kind of file you want to download a Google Document. That is why e.g. a Google Spreadsheet only shows you the ‘Download as’ menu so you can download the file in one of the available file formats: Excel file, Open Office Sheet, PDF or CSV file.
With OneDrive, you can always download the original Office document as well as converting them into (e.g.) a PDF document. So that will have both ‘Download’ and ‘Download as’ actions available in the menu.
Does this more or less answer your question? If I misinterpreted your question, please let me know.
- Floris
I understand that. I want to move “download MS Word Document” from the “Download as” submenu to the main menu. So that you can immediately download a document in docx format without opening the “Download as” submenu.
Also, do you have the opportunity to add a function so that you can add an additional button to the files yourself. (For example, the “Buy” button where you can put a link to a product in the store.
Thanks for your your reply!
I am afraid that you can’t change the menu items without modifying the core files of the plugin. I wouldn’t recommend that, as you will basically lose the ability to update the plugin. And as the Google API changes quite often, you will have to update the plugin frequently to keep it working. For the the ‘Buy’ action, perhaps you can add the link to your products in the description of the files? Users can then access the links via the description information in the Use-your-Drive module.

It’s possible to use this plugin on all devices? I like to list PDF publication, Show Cover from Each PDF, Let user Download PDF, Or Let user View and read PDF Show Folder (by Year) Will this plugin address my goal?
Yes, the plugin works on all devices and will allow your users to download and view your documents stored on your Google Drive directly on your WordPress site. In the File Browser module, you can select the top folder that should be shown and the plugin will list the documents and the folders inside it.
I hope that answers your question. And feel free to test the plugin on both Front-End and Back-End via the demo website in the link below.

Hello! I love using your plugin. But I’ve been encountering a problem. When I make a post, I can’t use a featured image that’s on Google drive. For this I have to use another plugin. You can add this option to this plugin. It basically adds the option to provide a Google Drive image link as the featured image in the post. It’s very bad to have to use another plugin just to meet this need. Thank you.
Thanks for your feedback!
The Use-your-Drive plugin indeed does support featured/product images for your pages. Google doesn’t support any direct links to images or thumbnails officially, which means that featured images or product images pointing to a file on Google Drive should always pass the Use-your-Drive plugin. At the moment this flow is just too slow to work properly for the important featured/product images. Besides that, the images will only keep working when the plugin is active and the Google Drive account is linked.
The links that are used by the other plugin can basically break if Google Decides to change there thumbnail/image urls. As Google can do that at any moment as it isn’t officially supported, it isn’t something I will implement in Use-your-Drive due to the importance of the WordPress feature/product images. When direct links will be officially supported, I definitely implement that as well.
I hope that this explains why this is missing from the plugin!

Hi Guys, here’s a user scenario I’d like to create. We sell bespoke furniture online. I’d like to upload easily a photo of the finished product to the customers order or account in my website that allows them to check the order before we send it. I am wondering if you can suggest a way to do this using this plugin?
Example
1. Our production team make the order
2. They take photos of the items
3. They upload them to the customers order (via this plugin I hope)
4. A customer folder is created in G Drive
5. A message/email is sent to advise customer their order needs checking
6. Customer can view the pictures
7. They can call us if they see a problem.
thanks for reading
Thanks for your question!
The plugin doesn’t have any webshop functionality, but it integrates into the WooCommerce plugin. Perhaps you can use that to sell your furniture and let the customers place orders? The WooCommerce Upload integration of Use-your-Drive then allows you to add images to the customers orders and place that in a customer/order specific folder on your Google Drive. The customer can see their files when opening their Order page or My Account page in WooCommerce.
There are other solutions possible where you (e.g.) create a Customer Portal page with an Use-your-Drive File Browser module and the Private Folders feature active, but this really depends on your exact requirements.
If you want to discuss this in more detail, feel free to create a support ticket via the link below.

Hello! How do I make the links to the preview generated by the plugin end in “preview” and not in “view”? I need this so that the menu items of Google docs are not visible.
Hi ! I’m intersted to buy your plugin ! Just one question : i want to create a google drive folder (to upload files) for each user account one my website is it possbile ? (different folder in one drive, or different google account also). Thanks a lot !
Yes, you can use the Private Folders feature for that. It allows you to link each users to manually to a folder on your Google Drive or you can simply assign a ‘Users’ folder where the plugin will automatically create a Private Folder for each user. See for some more information the online documentation. If you have any questions regarding the configuration of this setting, just let me know!

Could you add “nofollow” to the links from the plugin to files on Google drive so that Google bot will no track the links, which is bad for SEO as it may use up the quota and use extra resources on the server.
Thank you.
Content displayed via the modules of Use-your-Drive isn’t accessible by search engines as it is dynamically loaded after your page has been rendered. So there will be no links to your files on Google Drive when a search bot indexes your pages.
You can check this by using the Google Crawler URL-inspector.

Hello, I created a ticket yesterday, it is still unanswered
Hello. Can one have files and folders stored within categorizes and sub-categorizes, for example, files and folders uploaded according to departments AND each category or sub-category have upload link, so that X will receive a link to upload into HR department category and not into sales department category?
I hope my explanation is clear.
I am not sure if I understand your question completely, but the Google Drive doesn’t support categories. So you can only upload content to folders on your Google Drive with this plugin. You can add multiple Upload boxes on your site pointing to different upload folders on your Google Drive. E.g. a HR department folder and a Sales department folder. If you are using a form integration (Formidable Forms for instance, or one of the other supported form plugins), you can use a selection box to set the upload location dynamically. If you need help to configure that, just let me know via support ticket.
I hope this more or less answers your question!

Is it possible to protect the document from copying and downloading when previewing files? Google Drive can only set this permission for one file. Can the plugin set this permission for all files? If there is such a function, I want to buy a plugin.
The plugin uses the same Google Previewer as Google Drive itself which indeed uses the “Viewers and commenters can see the option to download, print, and copy” setting for your Google Drive files. So only with this option disabled, those actions will not be available in the preview window.
For your information: the Box version of the same plugin does support ‘read-only’ previews of all common file formats.
- Floris
I know that! The problem is that on a Google drive, the “Read-only, no copy-and-download” permission can be set for only one file. It is impossible to set up a folder or all files on a Google drive at once. The documentation says that this function is available to developers through the API. Can’t you add a function to this plugin that allows you to set read-only permissions on all files at once, or is it impossible?
It isn’t possible to set this all at once for all files via the Use-your-Drive plugin.
I can provide you with a piece of PHP code that will update this setting when a preview is opened via the plugin, or perhaps I can provide you with a Google Apps Script that you can run to set this on all files recursively at once (similar to this one).
- Floris
Ok, How I can get it?
The Google Apps Script or the PHP code that changes the behavior of the plugin?
Google Apps
I will post the script here for you when I have written it (likely tomorrow).
- Floris
Ok,thanks. I will wait.
If the plugin then automatically sets this permission for all existing and new files, then PHP is probably better. And if it’s not difficult, please explain how to apply this code. I’m not a programmer.
This Google Apps script should do the trick: Set copyRequiresWriterPermission for all items.
- Go to https://script.google.com/
- Create a new project
- Add the Drive service in the project
- Copy-Paste the code
- Save it, and Run ‘RunThis()’
- Grant access to your Google Drive
- Done!
I hope it helps!
Is it possible to get direct link for file for download ? I want to sale books
The best option would be to use WooCommerce and the WooCommerce integration of the plugin if you want to sell ebooks which are stored on your Google Drive. That allows you to let your visitors download the ebooks via Google Drive when they have purchased it.

Thank you so much, if work like that it can help , but I us DOKAN plugin in my woocommerce maybe it’s also work with dokan in add product area?
I am not familiar with DOKAN, but it looks like a kind of wrapper around WooCommerce. That means that is indeed possible to add the documents via the edit product of WooCommerce itself, but that this functionality isn’t available via the DOKAN interface on the front-end of the site. Perhaps I will be able to add support for this in a future plugin version.
- Floris
Thank you, please work on it please, you will first plugin with this feature as you know Dokan is famous plugin in many woorcommerce website and market place.
A presale question – Can I let users let name the folder that will be created to store the files that they are sending?
Yes, that is possible if you use one of the form integrations of the plugin. You can then assign a field of which the value should be used for naming the upload folder (for example, see the blue box in the online documentation for the Gravity Forms plugin integration). And if you have trouble with the configuration, just let me know via a support ticket and I will gladly do my best to help you out.
- Floris
Thank you. But do I have to buy gravity forms additionally?
The plugin doesn’t include all those form plugins, but just integrates into them. So if you don’t have the Gravity Forms plugin yet, you will indeed have to purchase it. But you can also look at the free form plugins (e.g. Contact Form 7, WPForms lite, Fluent Form lite) the plugin integrates into.

Hi is this plugin compatible with woocommerce Product Add-ons “file upload” option? ( https://woocommerce.com/products/product-add-ons/ ) Or else make every file upload feature in website integrate with this plugin?
If not please consider this as an feature request. Since there is NO plugin that gives that service this will be the only plugin with such feature for woocommerce . there are over 50K+ installs on WordPress repository plugins that targeted product add-ons but non have this feature.
Thanks for your question!
The plugin has a WooCommerce upload integration which let your customers add files to their products/orders after purchasing. It will show an Upload Box on the ‘Thank you ’ page after checkout and on the Order details/My account page. The files added to the product will end up in an order specific folder on Google Drive, and you can also see them in the Order details in the WP Admin Dashboard. However, I am not 100% sure if that is what you are looking for? If not, could you perhaps give a little more information so I can get a better understanding of the requirements?
- Floris
Thanks for the quick response Floris,
Introduction – there are many plugins that gives options to add product addons on woocommerce. & all of them have file upload feature. customers use this option to upload their own files. Example: To create custom designs on t-shirts, mugs, or business cards. currently “woocommerce Product Add-Ons plugin” has these options – https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/product-add-ons/#section-9
(the reason for using this plugin is there are so many plugins compatible with this woo plugin.so no plugin conflicts)
Problem – But there is no third party upload option in this plugin. All the uploads are directly going to our own servers. so it would be great if there is an option to send uploading files to google drive or any other thirdparty storage.
I tried the Use-your-Drive ‘Thank you ’ page option which is nice idea. but when it comes to multiple orders nobody can understand which upload box is connected to which order. so i think its best to keep the upload box with single product page.
Thanks for your explanation!
The Use-your-Drive doesn’t integrate into the WP media library and cannot be used in combination with the media_handle_upload() function (e.g. the upload button of the products addon). The plugin will only be able to send files directly to Google Drive via its own Upload Box which bypasses the server completely. That is also the reason why the WooCommerce Upload integration only works after checkout, as only then the required metadata is available for the plugin (e.g. the order number, customer data, etc).
However, could you perhaps let me know what you exactly mean with ‘when it comes to multiple orders nobody can understand which upload box is connected to which order’? During checkout, only 1 order will created, correct? The Order detail page will show every product purchased, and the Upload Boxes will be presented for each product that requires uploads. You can set the upload location so that the files will be placed in a folder like {orderId} / {productId} / {name}. So which part is a bit unclear? Perhaps you would like to have to upload boxes to be organized differently on the order page itself?

Also, in the demo of the photo gallery, a descriptive blurb appears on hover for each photo. Can we change that so that the file name appears on hover?
Sorry – in the link above I meant it to link to the demo of the photo gallery
That isn’t possible by default, but you could use the following Custom CSS for it:
#UseyourDrive .image-container .entry-text,
#UseyourDrive .entry-inline-description{display:none;}
#UseyourDrive .image-container.entry:hover .entry-text{
display:block;}
In order to use it, please make sure that you have enabled the ‘Show file names’ setting in the module configuration on the Layout tab.
If you need additional help with this, feel free to create a support ticket via the link below.

Okay, we will use this code – thank you!
Hi – I’ve been told that Google Drive has a limit on how many hits it can handle in a certain time frame, before it locks. Will this limit how many hits our webpage photo gallery can handle in a certain time frame? (Same for Dropbox) Thanks,
The thumbnails used by the plugin shouldn’t have any limitations (unless you are running from a development server on localhost). I also haven’t received any reports about images not showing up in the Gallery module since years.
If you still encounter issues, just let me know and I will have a closer look at it.
- Floris
Okay, thanks!
Hi, I would like to use this gallery to display various Google Drive folders with photos in them: https://preview.codecanyon.net/item/useyourdrive-google-drive-plugin-for-wordpress/full_screen_preview/6219776?_ga=2.110518789.1462767887.1633680352-1594372609.1575194278&_gac=1.79759845.1633680352.CjwKCAjw2P-KBhByEiwADBYWCgYRJQeBBiSI6fO4e564Eh5rkOrPSAjp8mqz6d5k3hWtoCdMZHO8thoCmbsQAvD_BwE However, it is important that each folder of photos (Such as the folders in your demo ‘Black and White, Earth Tones, One color’ gets a unique url, so that in our e-newsletter we can link to the gallery of a specific folder. Is that possible? Thanks!
Thanks for your question!
Each Gallery module can point to a different folder on your Google Drive. So you can add multiple modules on different pages. If you want to link to a specific folder in the module, you can use the ‘Direct link’ action which will open a specific folder automatically:. Examples: Black & White & Earth Tones.
I hope that answers your question!
- Floris
Yes, you answered my question – thank you!
Good morning, before purchasing the plugin i would like to know:
- when a user uploads his documents inside the form ( i will use gravity form ) will they be inserted inside a personal directory of the user in google drive? is it possible to customize the name of this directory according to the name or the email of the user?
- once submitted the form and uploaded the documents will be possible to forward an email to the site administrator indicating the exact location on google drive where to find the material of the user?
ANOTHER QUESTION: but to create the folder for the user who fills the form this user must be registered? I am trying to use your demo but the plugin only creates the folder for the admin user, I need a different folder for each user who fills the form.
Thanks for your questions! Let me try to answer them for you:
- Yes, that is possible! If the user is logged in, the plugin can use the metadata of the user to name the personal upload directory (e.g. name, loginname, email, etc). You can also use the value of a form field to name the upload directory if needed. See more information the online documentation.
- Sure, the you simply include a list of the uploaded files (including link) in the Gravity Forms email notification.
I hope that answers your question! If you need help to configure the module/form on your site, just create a support ticket and I will do my best to help you out.
- Floris
Thank you so much for your response, I can’t figure out how to use the value of a form field to create the user’s personal folder, could you pass me the direct link to the documentation where this is discussed?
It is described in the blue box in the ‘Supported Integrations’ – ‘Gravity Forms’ section. You basically add a special CSS class in the form field that should be used.
But if you are currently working in the demo, feel free to create a support ticket via the link below and I can configure a form example for you in that demo.
- Floris
Found it!!! just apply this class useyourdrive_private_folder_name to the field I want to use as the directory name! WOW!!! what if I want to use two concatenated fields? is that possible? example First name & Surname
your plugin is great! I definitely buy it! thanks a lot!
