I have a bbpress forum. So when some one uploads a photo in a post, can it be auto saved in Google Drive instead of my server ?
Thanks for your question. Only files uploaded via the Upload Box module of the Use-your-Drive plugin will be stored on Google Drive. So it will not auto save uploads in a post on Google Drive, unfortunately.

Seemed like a great plugin but as i expected is really slow, and most of the times not functional.
My clients can’t see the folders most of the times the get an error “oops…”
Sometimes after a refresh is working, after a click to a folder is not working again.

If I use this plugin to load audio files from my Google Drive to my Wordpress site, will the audio player display when I add an audio file? Or is this just for downloading file?
I am not sure if I understand your question correctly, but you can indeed use the plugins Media Player module to stream audio files on Google Drive direct on your site. You can see an example of that on the demo site (scroll down to see the Audio Player).

Hello! Google Drive video has already processed the minimum resolution.If i add this file like media player, viewing is possible. But if i add this file like file browser viewing is not possible. It turns out that viewing in the file browser mode available only after full processing of the video from Google Drive? How long can such processing take?
Media files in the File Browser will use the default Google Drive previewer to render the files. That will indeed require Google to process the video, and I am afraid that there isn’t an exact time duration that this processing can take. It can be a couple of minutes or a couple of hours depending on the media files and Google resources.
Please note that the Media Player module of Use-your-Drive itself will stream the raw media file itself and can be played instantly after uploading.

Hello, Can you do any custom changes for me on the plugin so that it doesnt download using server.I mean instead of of download using my server it simply should show an error msg like Download limits exceeded. Is there any code shold i remove?

The amount of space available for your Google Drive account is indeed only listed in the overview of linked accounts on the main plugin settings. Is there any specific reason why you want this information to be available for your users on the Front-End as well?

Thanks for your question. The Drive API has a ‘Fair Use Policy’ for downloading and streaming content. This means that you will not encounter any problems with normal usage. However, if you have high traffic volume on your site downloading and streaming files via the plugin, you can indeed encounter API/download limits. In that case Google will throttle the traffic.
If the content cannot be downloaded via Google servers (e.g. due to the file sharing permissions) the plugin will fallback to stream the content via your server.
If you are hitting the FUP of Google, you can switch to a different Cloud solution with clear limits. For instance, you could take a look at the Dropbox or Box solutions of the same plugin. For instance, Dropbox Free (Basic) has a limitation of 20 GB/day and the Pro & Business accounts have a limit of 200 GB/day.

BTW, if you have installed an illegal version of Use-your-Drive I would strongly recommend you to check your site for malware and change your WP passwords as soon as possible. Most of the illegal versions around do have backdoors/malware in the code added. You can test the full version for free on the demo/sandbox site. See link below.

Google has a fair use policy for the usage of content on Google Drive, so it isn’t possible to have ‘unlimited’ access via their API. If you want clear limits instead of the fair use policy, you will have to use a different cloud provider (like Dropbox as mentioned in my last reply).

That is unfortunately not possible. The permissions are set per Use-your-Drive module based on WP User Roles and/or individual users, and it is not possible to set additional content restrictions per file/folder.

Pre-purchase question. I have a site with probably 1000 images. These include thumbnails, etc. Will your plugin “MOVE” these files from my server to Google drive and then load them onto the correct pages? If so is this automatically or done manually?
Thanks for your question! The plugin doesn’t move files from your server to Google Drive, but it is able to display your content on Google Drive directly on your site via one of its modules (e.g. the File Browser module or Gallery module) and it will make sure that changes made on the Google Drive will automatically appear on your site. So if you want to replace an existing Gallery with the one of Use-your-Drive, you first will have to place the images on your Google Drive manually.

That is unfortunately not possible yet with the plugin, but you can use some custom javascript to set the default subtitle language and let it load automatically. That would be something like:

hello if i buy this plugin and use it to host my videos, without allowing visitors to link to the original video file or allowing them to download it?
Yes, that is possible to some extend. The plugin does it best to mask the source and it will (e.g.) not show a download button. However, in the end the video is streamed via Google Drive and advanced users (or a tool) can always capture the stream by looking at the network traffic. Unfortunately, as with all online video streams, there isn’t a way to prevent this from happening

Hello, thank you for answers. One more question: Is there any way to DENY file downloading? I mean user has a list of .mp4 files (thumbnails) and can download any file except the one.mp4 for example? It is easy to do so by making google drive permissions (Sharing: “restricted”) This is ok when user clicks the file , google link opens and says “Access denied”. BUT when user clicks “Download” from context menu file can be saved and downloaded. Any hints?
Also is it possible to make a email notification on file clicking? (like on “Download” cause there are notifications on download/upload/delete but not on file clciking i.e. opening in new tab with google link and downloading from there. I could be happy even with copy-pasting “get_processor()->send_notification_email” but i don’t see where to insert this (“onclick” event) Thank you!
It is not possible to give download permission to individual files in the File Browser module, as the permissions are applied to the selected folder in the module itself.
The sharing permissions on the files are only required to preview the files (which uses the Google Doc previewer) or share them. Downloads are not restricted by the file sharing permission as that allows you to keep the files private on Google Drive, but still make them accessible for download via your WordPress site.

There is no notification event/template available for ‘onclick’ events. If you need that, you basically have to add a Javascript onclick event handler on the Front-End which triggers the PHP get_processor()->send_notification_email() function for the specific file.
I need only on-file-click event, i.e. when google-direct-link is opened in a new tab. Isn’t it available?
About restricting single file i just removed “Download” context menu (by commenting out “Download” section of Filebrowser.php:renderActionMenu), so the only option is clicking a file to open google-link, but this leave me without email notifications sadly..
If you remove the Download action from the action menu, this will be the case for all files.. and not for specific individual files. In that case you can just set the Download Permission to ‘none’ to achieve the same, or use some CSS to hide this action from the menu. That will allow you to keep updating the plugin in the future as you don’t modify the core files of the plugin. It is wise to keep the plugin updated as the API is changing quite often.

Sure I understand it. But I have no choice when I want to deny to download a few files which are situated in the same folder as other files. Setting download permission to ‘None’ I will deny all downloads, which I don’t need at all.

Sure, to hide the download action in the action menu use:

It works (in main.min.css) But I have a better idea for my situation – maybe you could suggest me how to modify “Download” context menu handler to make it open new tab with google-link-to-file (instead of “Save As” calling)? That is unfortunately not possible. However, if you want to trigger an email notification when clicking on the ‘Preview’ or ‘Preview in new window’ action, use the following hook:

It sends a ‘download’ notification, as there isn’t a preview email notification template available. Please note that this is also triggered when previewing the files inline (lightbox). Due to the nature of the lightbox, which is preloading previews, it will send notifications for files which are not yet previewed by the user. So you might want to disable the inline preview for your module.

Thank you for answers. Sure about support, just forgot it, just renewed the license now! About my problem: often in “Thumbnail mode” clicking on files just does not work for a while (after making 10 clicks it can start working, then can stop again) In “List View” this just don’t ever happen. Can you point me the parts of code which differ in those 2 modes. I guess in “Listview” additional requests to google drive back-end are just not present and so no “freezing” happens in “Listview” mode
p.s. so i could comment out “not needed requests” to test the problem

Hello. I did find a solution for removing “Download” for some files with such a change (in Filebrowser.php:renderActionMenu in dDownload section) “if(strpos($item->get_basename(),”PART.OF.FILE.NAME”) === false)” ... i.e. not rendering “Download” if some name was found. So only click is possible which opens new tab with google link which can be blocked with google file permissions. The only thing left is a email notification. You write “There is no notification event/template available for ‘onclick’ event”, but i don’t understand it, When i click the file it opens in a new tab, then THERE IS an event (to open a tab). Can you point where is this code (which opens new tab)? Thank you for help!
First of all, I don’t recommend you to modify the core files of the plugin as that basically makes it impossible to update the plugin in the future without manually applying the modifications again. As the plugin works with APIs which are changing quite often and is depending on quite some libraries, it is wise to keep the plugin up to date.
For your other question, please check the answer which I provided two replies above (11 days ago). You can use the ‘useyourdrive_preview’ hook which is triggered when a file is preview.

“Manage Permission” description says: The plugin requires the sharing permission ‘Anyone with link’ to preview documents and to swiftly download files.” 1)Which state is this about ? “Manage Permission” == Off ?

In order to preview your documents on Google Drive, or to (e.g.) create shared links to them, the documents need to be publicly shared. That is done by setting the sharing permissions of the files in Google Drive to ‘Anyone with link can view’ (docs).
In most cases, the plugin can manage those permissions automatically for you. To do so, leave the plugin setting ‘Manage Permission’ enabled. I will then, for instance, update the sharing permissions for your PDF file when you preview it. If this setting is disabled, you will have to update the sharing permissions on the files in Google Drive by yourself. If you are trying to preview a document which isn’t publicly shared, the file will not load.
Other actions (e.g. download, rename, delete) will not require any special sharing permissions on your Google Drive files.

The action that happens when clicking on a file is depending on the default action set for that module. So it should open the preview inline, open it in a new tab or start the download depending on the configuration. If you want me to have a closer look at this, feel free to provide some more details via your support ticket so I can investigate this.

I don’t see any default action settings in the admin panel (UI). Where can be default action configured? In “thumbnail” view clicking on video file (mp4) does nothing (FireFox) while in previous versions it opened the file google link in a new tab. Now if user wants to open google link he needs to switch to “Listview” and click (!) the file. Now it opens (when clicking file in Listview mode).
oops sorry, clicking started to work, need to investigate more why it happens
p.s. it works very strange (thumbnail mode): sometimes it doesn’t react on clicking at all, the after MANY clicks it starts to work (opening new tab with file). In “List view” it works perfect always (from the 1st click). Looks like a bug for me..

Created. It is easy to reproduce, just try to click on video files (mp4) . seems “onclick” works bad in Thumbnail mode (while good in Listview mode). It could be great if you could say where is the “onclick” handler (those which opens a new tab with google link if allowed) in Filebrowser.php So I could debug a little (by commenting out some stuff), it could help you to understand the bug also.
