How do I add a Custom Filter that the Field does not have in the Table? The only requirement that is missing to buy.
Hello there.
Thank you for your interest in the plugin.
You cannot add a filter for a column that doesn’t exist. What would be the purpose of this?
Advanced filtering is available only for existing columns and entries within the table.
Kind regards.

Hello,
Thanks for the answer. Below is the answer to the question.
I have a grid that is based on a select that is grouped by name and the sum of the number of times it was executed. What was needed was to create filters to inform a period of time that the tasks would be completed, which would be a field of tasks, but as I am grouping it, the execution date would not appear on the grid.
Hi again.
Our filters can only be applied to columns that exist in the table. You could include a date column, and hide it from the front-end, but still keep its filter, so users would be able to filter through it.
We’re not quite sure how the table is supposed to look like, but if you are able to add a date column, this would be achievable with hiding the column.
Kind regards.

Great plugin. As a suggestion, in editing your own data, there should be an option in which only one role can edit all the fields while the check is active in editing their own data. Currently when the check is active to edit your own data, it is not possible to edit all the others not even with the administrator role, you have to deactivate that option and meanwhile the other users will be able to see everyone’s data, I hope to let me understand.
Hello there.
Thanks for the suggestion, we forwarded it to our development team. This is something that they already have on their “to-do” list, so please make sure to add this suggestion on our suggest-a-feature page.
Features are developed based on the number of votes, so more votes a feature receives (more feature suggestions), faster it will be developed.
Thank you, once again and kind regards!

I deleted a site before I deactivated the plug. When I connect to Envato API to activate on the new site I get and maximum activations error message. Please advise
Hello there.
Envato’s API is limited to linking 3 requests per second you will probably need to click on “Activate with Envato” a few times until the license is activated, but once it is activated, it will stay active and you will be able to update the plugin through the Plugins page.
Just remember that you probably will need to click on “Activate with Envato” multiple times before it actually activates the license.
If you’re still having issues with this, please open a pre-purchase ticket on our official support platform, and our managers will help you there.
Kind regards.

presale question, is it possible to pull the data from string query in the URL to make the datatable?
Hello there.
Thank you for your interest in our plugin.
Tables in wpDataTables can only be created manually, by admins, from the back-end of your website. You wouldn’t be able to create a new table by passing the data in the URL.
Can you explain in a bit more detail, what the idea behind this is?
Kind regards.

Ah understood, what it is is i use gravity forms to insert some data and then I pass that data onto another page which creates a report but the user. I really want to create some graphs too from that so was looking at using data tables and charts integration. Im not really a developer so this was the only was I can think of to create a report for someone, but i feel like your system may be an even better solution. But Im just creating single reports from data input into the same form if that makes sense. I dont want a report/charts based on all the data input. I dont know how I could use your system but pull out only 1 entry from the user to create a report.
Hello again.
This question may be answered with more details if you can open a pre-purchase ticket on our official support platforms. Our managers know all possible workarounds and limitations about the plugin, so please open a ticket there, and they’ll gladly answer all your questions there.

Hi, it seems that my purchase key is expired? How’s that possible? Should we get lifetime updates? I tried submitting the ticket on your support helpdesk but it says that key is expired. Please help!
Hello there.
You are entitled to lifetime updates, but your support expired 6 months after purchase. That’s why you cannot open a ticket in wpDataTables section.
You can still open pre-purchase tickets, so please open a private pre-purchase ticket, where you will share your purchase code with us, so we can see if it’s maybe active somewhere.
Since you bought the plugin through Envato marketplace, you don’t actually need the purchase code to activate the license. The “Purchase Code” field is reserved for purchases made through our website, and needs to stay blank when you’re activating with Envato.
So, all you need to do is click on “ACTIVATE WITH ENVATO”, and the plugin will take you to the Envato log-in page, where (upon logging-in) the license will be activated.
Kind regards.

Okay. That makes sense. I’ve tried activating vith Envato and I’m getting the message where it says that something went wrong. That’s why I’ve tried contacting your support.
So basically I can’t activate it.
Hello again.
Sorry for the late response. Can you please open a (private) pre-purchase ticket on our official support platform, and provide our support agents with your purchase code. They will be able to check if the code is saved in our database, and maybe active elsewhere, causing the issue with the activation.
On the other hand, Envato’s API is limited to 3 attempts per second, so it could be that you only need to click on the “Activate with Envato” button a few times before it actually activates.
Kind regards.

presale question, are you able to generate charts and reports for a single entry. For example users will use the same form to insert data but I want to able to generate charts and reports for a single entry for a single person. Can that happen?
Hello there.
Thank you for your interest in our plugin.
If you enable “Follow table filtering” when creating the chart and/or report, you can filter the table so it only shows one entry, and then only that one entry will be displayed in the chart and in the report.
If the data needs to show only entries made by the currently logged in user, you can enable Users see and edit only own data, but in that case the users need to be logged into WordPress.
Kind regards.

Hi,
We need to change colors of slices of donut charts but we don’t know how to change it.
It’s necessary because we did some tables with specific colors and we need Google donut charts with the same colors.
How can style it?
Thanks you!
Hello there.
Chart engines’ settings that you see in the plugin are coming from the free libraries of those engines, and if you don’t see a certain setting, that is the default behavior of the engine.
In order to change the color of pie chart slices, you will need to use wpDataChart callbacks. An example can be found on our FAQ section, here for Google charts, here for Highcharts, and here for Charts.js.
Please note that using wpDataChart callbacks is not included in the provided support for the plugin, so we cannot help you with that in any other way than to offer advice, and an example, like in this case.
Kind regards.

Hi. I have a name list.
I have last names like
Abascal, Agatón, Álvarez, Barceló,Barrera,Breien,Vadillo,Valdés,Villarreal,Villaseñor,Zárat,Zúñiga,Zurita Ok? They are Spanish names and last names, the tables loads ok first time (a-z sorting) , but when you set order in the same column at descending (z-a) it skips most of the names
example:
Álvarez , and next , Zurita
What’s wrong?
The problem is the International characters. like Álvarez is been placed BEFORE Zurita, when the sort is set to descending. (z-a) how can I specify the correct sorting for the locale?
Hello there.
The issue is most likely with your database. If the table is saved with utf8_general_ci collation, it’s not going to recognize those characters. You will need to change the collation to utf8_spanish_ci or utf8_spanish2_ci, and after that it should work.
Kind regards.

hi.. how to know which user update on row, and what a user update on row.. can you provide log?
Hello there.
You can enable “Users see and edit only own data” feature, in which case you would be able to see which user made the entry, or edited the row in back-end.
Another way would be to include the CURRENT_USER_ID placeholder as a predefined editing value for one of your columns, where the value will be replaced with the ID of the currently logged in user. In order to use this, without the user having the ability to modify the entry, you would need to hide this field from the edit modal using custom CSS, and also you would need to hide “Prev”, “Next” and “Apply and add new” buttons, since they cause the predefined value to be removed.
You can see how to hide those buttons on this page.
Kind regards.

Hi,
Just wondering if there is any conflict with any cache plugin like wp rocket or redis, or perfmatters? if so, any specific setting to be done with it?
Thank you
Hello!
There are some issues with caching plugins when you’re using wpDataTables, especially if you’re using tables linked to an existing data source. These issues are most common with Google Spreadsheet tables – if you add a new entry to Google Spreadsheet, the table that was created from that spreadsheet cannot update the entries, because the page is cached.
It’s not happening on all websites, and with all caching plugins, so on some websites, WP Rocket works great, while on others it can cause issues.
If you do encounter issues with caching, you can simply disable caching for pages where you have wpDataTables.
Kind regards.

Hi, i just would like to confirm this before purchase.
Does this plugin have capability to build a brand new report that its dataset is coming from different tables / columns within database?
I wanna build a report coming from different plugins (of course, different table/column) & some extra columns to calculate value using those data from different tables. is this what this plugin can do?
Thank you
Hello.
wpDataTables is a table plugin, but we do have the Report Builder add-on.
If you know your way around SQL, you can create SQL query based tables, with which you can pull the data from any plugin from the database. Given, of course, that the plugin stores data in the database.
Kind regards.

Oh OK.
In order for me to build a new report, I would need the report builder add-on. Yes?
With “wpDataTables – Tables and Charts Manager” plugin, I can only view given template reports. Is my understanding correct?
Please feel free to educate me and I just wanna get the right concept of this plugin with the report build add-on.
Thank you so much.
Hello again.
wpDataTables can only show tables and charts, and they have nothing to do with reports.
Report Builder is an add-on for wpDataTables which can generate reports from existing tables, using Word or Excel templates.
Please feel free to check out our documentation about both the core plugin, and the add-on to see how they work. There are examples, tutorials and regular documentation files which can provide all info you need.
If you have any specific question about a specific feature, please feel free to open a pre-purchase ticket on our official support platform, and our support managers will gladly help you there.

Hello. with this plugin can I restrict access so that each user can see his table without one seeing the other’s table?
Hi there.
One table is visible to everyone unless you enable the Users see and edit only own data feature. With this, you can have one table for all logged-in users, and they would only be able to see their data in the table.

Tables and charts can only be created from back-end, using the Administrator role.

I entirely don’t understand the pricing scheme here. 299 for lifetime updates but 6 month support on one site not for commercial resale. At the same time its available for 199 for lifetime updates and lifetime support for one commercially sold site. And then there is the more stranger price of 1495 for Extended licence, that is only for one commercially sold site with lifetime updates and 6 month support. and 6 moths extended support is now “only” 1285. At the same time you can get it for unlimited commercially sold sites with lifetime updates and support for 615. There is something off there… Luckily I got the better priced one. Its just less convenient that its not in my Envato list. But maybe you can explain, if you can ofcourse, maybe the rules here don’t allow that explanation.
Hello there!
We would love to explain the reason behind the high price, so please make sure to open a ticket on our official support platform https://tmsplugins.ticksy.com/, reference this comment, so we know it’s you, and we’ll provide answers to any question you may have about licensing.

my table displays the time the entry was made in a column. We are looking for a “relative” time display format like ” 3m” ago or “1h 6m” or ago “1 day” how can we achieve this in a column that displays time just like this envato comment feed does.
We just need the format. we are using a form that generates the timestamp that the entry was made.
Hello there.
Something like this is not possible with the plugin’s built in features. We assume that you’re using the timestamp with an SQL query?
If that’s true, you’ll need to find a way to have it display how long ago the entry has been made (through SQL, so it’s not included in the provided support for the plugin). If you’re able to make it look like “20 hours”, you can use the CONCAT function to wrap some text around it, like:
CONCAT AS Timestamp
If the entry was made 20 hours ago, it will say “About 20 hours ago”.
Kind regards.

Hi can you please give an update on what a few people have requested in the past – ie the ability for a shortcode to display a single cell value ? [table id=8 cell=B4 /] Are you working on it, or is just something that may be done a long way in the future ..? Thanks.
Hello there.
At the moment, single cell shortcode is not included, but our developers will be working on it. The first third of 2021 is dedicated to fixing existing bugs with the plugin, along with some smaller features, so we can’t say exactly when single-cell shortcode will be included.
We hope that it will be released in the next month or two, but we can’t make any promises. Please feel free to cast your vote by adding this as a suggestion on our suggest a feature page.

Most recent update completely tanked my plugin. Can’t make any tables as I get this error:
There was an error while trying to save the table! parsererror WDTException: [0]: One or more columns doesn’t have a header. Please enter headers for all columns in order to proceed.
This is for every single table on my website, even existing ones that worked perfectly fine prior. Any way you can give me an older version to roll back to or something? Really don’t feel I should need to pay the $260 it’s asking for me to top up my support for this.
Hello there.
Those are warnings that were included for creating new tables importing a CSV or Excel file, when some columns don’t have a header in the source file, but it shouldn’t affect the existing tables on your website.

Filter and Search doesn’t work on ‘named’ columns. Example: SELECT vehicles_model.`ID`, vehicles_manufacturer.`name` AS ‘Hersteller’, vehicles_model.`name` AS ‘Modell’ FROM vehicles_model LEFT JOIN vehicles_manufacturer ON vehicles_model.`manufacturerID`= vehicles_manufacturer.`ID`
Hello there.
Thank you for reaching out to us. If the issue is occurring only for columns with aliases, please don’t use them in the query – you can easily change the displayed header in column settings.
Also, when using JOIN, CONCAT, UNION or sub-queries, the PHP SQL parser we use may not be able to parse the query correctly, so it’s advisable to create a MySQL VIEW in the database, and then create a table pulling only that view with:
SELECT * FROM yourViewName
Kind regards.
