Hey I think the timeline is awesome, but for some reason mine is not IE9 compatible.
here it is: http://clients.tci.travelclick.net/creative/timeline/index.htmlCan you help?
thanks, -sean
Hi. Unfortunately IE8 + is a very sensible browser regarding dom objects. You have removed (commented) the audio inside the html, so it breaks when it finds that audio object inside the JS file, but not in the html.
So, to solve the issue, edit “js/jquery.timeline.js” file, and remove (or comment) the following lines that connects with audio tag on html:
//HTML5 AUDIO PLAYER
audiojs.events.ready(function() {
var as = audiojs.createAll({
autoplay: true,
loop: true,
});
audio.prettyPaused = 0;
});
That’s all. (crappy IE!)
Kind regards and thanks for purchase.
haven’t bought yet but can this timeline start from the present to the past…instead of past to present.
Thanks
Hi. Well, you can fill up the contents as you prefer, so there are no restrictions about that, i mean, the timeline is not organising contents based on real time data, but on its position inside the html structure.
Hope this helps.
Excellent! That has done the trick, the audio has gone and it works fine horrid IE8 .
Thanks for your quick response and thanks for your help. I wish I had asked earlier!

How do I remove the audio from the timeline. I have tried commenting out in the header <script type=”text/javascript” src=”js/audiojs/audio.min.js”></script>
and also tried commenting out in the body
<!- AUDIO PLAYER ->
<audio src=”mp3/music.mp3” preload=”auto”></audio>
<!- end timeline ->
but then it stops working in IE8
The client uses IE8 and wants the audio taken out please could you send me some advice on how to do this without it upsetting IE8 .
Thanks
Hi. Horrible IE8 !
Keep commented the audio tag on html. Edit jquery.timeline.js inside /js folder. Just remove (or comment) the HTML5 audio player function starting on line 64:
//HTML5 AUDIO PLAYER
audiojs.events.ready(function() {
var as = audiojs.createAll({
autoplay: true,
loop: true,
});
audio.prettyPaused = 0;
});
That’s all.
Hope this helps. Kind regards and thanks for purchase.

Duplicated post, see below.
Hi there! Great timeline. Thank you.
Unfortunately I have WAAAY too much content to jam into this timeline so I’m wondering if you can help.
Site here: http://kylerichmond.com/italian
Basically what we’ve decided to do was separate milestones into 2 different parts of the timeline. If you take a look at milestone 2 – the corresponding content to go with the blurb is to the left of it. Does that make sense? Anyways – I have more milestones in my code then are currently displaying – how do I fix that?
Also – is there a way I’d be able to remove the grey line between the two milestones items that I’m treating as one?
So currently: LITTLE ITALY BEFORE WWII | THE RISE OF FACISM > Facilitating Docs | NEXT MILESTONE
Thoughts?
Hi.
The marks “click” place both the top image and below content row on proportional position based on global widths of both timeline, images and milestones row. As you can see in the html they are not linked, just positioned on screen on concret x values. So, you need to play with that x position (and widths for images and columns contents) to match (more or less, will be difficult to do it exact pixel) your desired position for both. Hope this makes sense…
About your other question, well, is possible, but you need to create an exception for that 2 columns joined together. Uhmm… guess the easiest way (without make proper testing) is to duplicate in the css this rule:
#timeline .column {
float: left;
padding: 0px 0px 0px 10px;
margin: 14px 0px 0px 50px;
height: 150px;
border-left: 1px solid #505050;
}
Call it column2 or whatever, and setup it without border, then apply that column css to your second column DIV . As said, have not done tests, but it should work.
Kind regards and thanks for purchase.
thanks a lot for your quick reply!!
And the CSS thing worked. I didn’t realize it’d be that simple. great!!
as for the the other question – I tried moving those divider icons – I typed 1000 but it just went into the main part of my page – didn’t stay inside the slider. Regardless – I was actually asking about the other milestones I have coded into the timeline. I still have up to 7 milestones in the code (mostly the demo ones right now) but the whole timeline stops at June 10, 1940 mark? I’m assuming I have to increase the width of the timeline somewhere.. but I just can’t figure out where.
Oh, sorry, i misunderstood your question. I see, you just need to setup your content width on your timeline div config settings:
data-contentWidth="1670"
Just place there your value (1670 – in pixels) to match the width of your content.
ahhh! it works. thanks kindly. and for your quick response! I appreciate it.
Glad to help. Please, don’t forget to rate the file if you finally like it and support.
Enjoy it. Best.
done!
Well, when I looked at them both on my iPhone this morning, they both worked fine. So who knows. Maybe a slow connection…Thanks!
Nice you got it running. Enjoy the file and let me know if i can be of further assistance (ah, and don’t forget to rate the file if you finally like it adn support
best
Hi. Is strange, i don’t see anything important (layout) changed on your sample html, and my original samples worked fine on the iPhone (although consider this is not a responsive plugin), are you able to see my original online sample on your mobile? I don’t have here an iPhone to test it out, will do later today to see what’s happening.
Kind regards and thanks for purchase.
Great plugin!
//HTML5 AUDIO PLAYER
audiojs.events.ready(function() {
var as = audiojs.createAll({
autoplay: true,
loop: true,
});
audio.prettyPaused = 0;
});
If you take out the comma after loop: true it works.
Hi. I thought i solved that issue! Another user told me months ago…
thanks for notifying…
Let me know if i can be of further assistance. Kind regards and thanks for purchase.
I’m doing my first timeline using your code. And it’s looking great except for one thing: it’s not showing up at all in IE8 .
Have just purchased this for a slide show project on the Civil War. Let me see if I’ve got this right: the top portion is just a visual set of clues, but not necessarily the actual images that one is connecting with dates, is that correct? The actual images (thumnails) are put in the lower part of the timeline. Is that correct?
I’d love to see how others have used this. Thx.
Hi. Yeah, you are right, you have 2 separated zones/areas, the hone above is for row of images, that are displayed continously, no limit on umagrs width or number of them. The zone bellow is for columns content, where you can setup the texts and also small thumbs linking with galleries or videos. A third section in the html is where you setup your marks and positionate them according with your contents. I recommend to first organise your images, then content columns and then the marks. Also, as a side note, you can also make links on the images row, just adding hrefs to the imgs tags.
Hope this helps. Kind regards and thanks for purchase.
I am considering purchasing this jquery timeline. Can you tell me how many images this can hold? I work at an art museum and we’re thinking of using this as part of an exhibition. We could have up to 50 images.
Hi. There is no limit of images.
Thanks for your help on my previous issue. I seem to be having a problem with getting some features to work with IE…. shocking, I know!
Everything works great in Firefox and Chrome, but with IE, I can’t get the scroll bar to appear and the lightbox buttons don’t working.
Hi Tobor. I’m gogin out on holidays for 2 weeks. Please, send me your URL through my profile form (not here) and i’ll try to help you from my mobile devices. I’ll be connecting once in a while during these days out for urgent support requests.
Kind regard and thanks for your patience.
how do you add more columns?
Hi. If you mean the milestones with text coumns, you just need to replicate the DIVs inside milestones > content DIV .
<div class="column"> ... </div>
Then the added content will be displayed on the milestones zrea. Also remember to adjust the milestones width on config settings (“data-contentWidth”).
Hope this helps.
Kind regards and thanks for purchase.
First off, I love the Timeline.
My question is that I noticed when you click on any of the ‘Read More’ or video buttons within the timeline, it’s essentially like going to a different page. By that I mean, if a visitor was to click on a lot (or every) button within the timeline, then tried to hit a back to go to the previous page on the website, they’d have to hit the back button however many times they clicked links in the timeline. Is there any way to remedy that?
Hi. The video and “read more” button shouldn’t be going to external pages, but opening the PrettyPhoto contents with lightbox system (content with overlay over the timeline), so no need to return with back button at all. Maybe is some error on your end what is causing that those links are not working properly. If you want, send me your url through my profile form (not here) and i’ll try to take a look.
Kind regards and thanks for purchase.
Hi. Beautiful slider.
We have one problem though when implementing: When we change the width of the slider handle / dragger (data-draggerWidth=”21”) in your “Light” sample it won’t work as expected.
When you click into the sliderbar or on a “mark” the dragger will not move there. It will move to a position a few pixels left of where you clicked. (The “left” position is the same as with the default width of the dragger).
But when you drag the dragger it works as expected. Dragging once also fixes the clicking behavior from above.
And ideas how to solve it?
Hi. Yes, i was aware of that bug, one user notified me some days ago. Is related with the tinyscrollbar plugin workaround inside the dragging function. I’ll do my best to solve it as sson as possible. I’m going to be out 2 weekes for holidays, this will be one of the first things of my to-do list on my return. Once update i’ll notify the release update here on comments and faqs.
Thanks for notifying, and purchase. Kind regards.
Meanwhile, edit this line for a “quick” fix, until i reach with a final solution. Open “js/tinyscrollbar/jquery.tinyscrollbar.js” file. Go to line 60:
iScroll, iScroll2, iPosition = { start: -30, now: -30 }, iMouse = {};
Adjust the -30 value to fit the half of your dragger width (in negative).
Hope this helps.
Thank you very much for your fast support, that did the trick
I knew, although is not very “elegant”.
I’ll try to fix a solid solution on my return. Last but not least, if you finally like the file and support, please, don’t forget to rate it on your downloads page, rating is quite important for us, authors. Thanks in advance!
Hello, can you add keyboard support? For accessibility, that’d be great…
Hi. Do you mean arrows to move between milestones? Yeah, it could be a nice addon, i note it for future upgrades. Thanks for suggestion.
I mean the ability to scroll left or right with the keyboard… It’s something mandatory for an accessible site (for people who cannot use a mouse). Thanks that’d be nice.
