i bought your plugin for my client. My client has an instagram account but not a facebook account When I try to generate an access token i have to access facebook…. how can we solve that?

Thanks for reaching out. I’ll be happy to help you. In order to use the Instagram API, you need to have a Facebook account associated with it. This is how it authenticates you safely. The Facebook page doesn’t even have to be public. You can just create a shell page/account just to handle the handshake. No one has to even know about the page.

I tested the [instagram-journal mode=”user” user_id=”“] shortcode with my id and it works fine.
But if I want a tag with this shortcode [instagram-journal mode=”tag” tag=”30kmhdenuit”] it doesnt work and I receive this message “Please select user mode and configure your user settings.” why ?
moreover on shortcode generator I only have user mode, no other modes are available , no scroll list as in your demo
I copied a shortcode that i found here in the comments and used it. In this case no more popup alert but nothing appear on the page

Thanks for reaching out. I’ll be happy to help. It sounds like instead of uploading the plugin file, you’re trying to upload the entire envato package from your downloads. Instead, open the package downloaded from envato and upload only the plugin folder.
For more information on doing this please watch the two minute getting started video located inside the downloaded package. It explains how to get started much faster than I can do with text.

I’ve purchased Instagram journal today, installed it and experimented with it. I the manual you mention the “Contest Mode” however, it will not appear in the instagram journal admin menu. Only the “basic settings” are visible in that menu. I want to specify a hashtag to pull photos from. How can i resolve this problem?

Hi there,
I am using your Instagram Journal for this website I am working on but I am running into a few issues.
1. The images pulled from instagram are distorting and not square. They are being stretched sideways a bit.

2. I want 15 images to show up with a LOAD MORE link. Is there a way to do this? Right now I am using limit=”15”

Hello, I can’t install your plugin. I unpacked the ZIP file. I click on Wordpress plulgin than I get Instagram Journal and than Code and Jquery-instagram-journal.
There is not a correct plugin file. Can you please send me the video so I can do it myself. Thanks! Ilse

I’m sorry to hear that. This is not a known issue, I think your token probably was disabled by facebook. Please use my tool to get a new one and you’ll be all set!

Hi, I bought the plugin. The documentation (and the plugin presentation) shows that the “tag” mode is available. However, when I use the shortcode in a page on my website I get this alert: “Please select user mode and configure your user settings.”. Indeed, I can’t select tag mode in the Shortcode Generator either (“User” is the only available mode). Also, I just have Basic Settings, Contest settings are missing. Why? This is not a big deal to me, but the tag mode is: this feature is the reason why I bought the product. Can you help me please? Thank you in advance

I’ll be happy to help. The Instagram API is read-only so unfortunately, I don’t have any control over the content that it brings in. However, my plugin is based on javascript so runs after the page has loaded. If you are interested in performance changes, you could always wait to call my plugin after the page has loaded.
This will allow it to load behind the scenes and would not affect your google score. Does this make sense?

Hi, I’ll be happy to help. Instagram now requires your instagram account to be linked to a Facebook account as they are looking phase out Instagrams authentication. That said, you’ll eventually have to do this anyway.

Hello I just purchased this
I have installed, gotten hold of the Access tolken and everything seems fine, but get this message after inserting a shortcake on the page.
“A 400 error has occured attempting to fetch your profile photo. Please check your credentials and try again.”
Also on the Instagram Journal settings in the Wordpress control . there is only listet the “Basic Settings”, not more settings like on the video…

So we’re currently upgrading a big page that uses your plugin, but we ran into an issue:
We are running WordPress 5.5 with PHP 7.3. After upgrading Instagram Journal v2.8 to v2.9.1 following errors get reported everywhere in the WordPress admin:
Notice: Undefined index: deleteContestEntry in /public/wp-content/plugins/instagram-journal/instagram_journal.php on line 243 Notice: Undefined index: deleteJournal in /public/wp-content/plugins/instagram-journal/instagram_journal.php on line 261 Notice: Undefined index: updateContestEntry in /public/wp-content/plugins/instagram-journal/instagram_journal.php on line 276
In addition all plugin assets in frontend and backend (CSS, JavaScript, images) are expected to be reachable from /wp/wp-content/plugins/instagram-journal/ while actually sitting at /wp-content/plugins/instagram-journal/.
The WP_CONTENT_DIR setting (here set to /wp-content due to WordPress being installed by composer) seems to be ignored by the plugin.
So basically we have a custom WP_CONTENT_DIR that is ignored, which is why we can’t get it to work.
Is there any workaround for this? Or could you take this into consideration? We really don’t want to alter any plugin files since we’re running a composer-based installation flow.

Excited to use this as it looks beautiful. I installed it into wordpress but cannot figure out how to install it as part of my footer, usually there is a widget that pops up as an option. Help!

I dont have the option to generate a code under Instagram journal. All it has is a field for me to put in the access token and thats it. Should I have bought a different package maybe? I got the $20 one. Thank you for your response!

The thing is… the footer is set up so you pick what plug in you want to drop into it. there is not an option for a shortcode, just option to add the appropriate widget.
