Hello, I have bought your plugin and wanted to confirm with you below point. My support license is expired, but I just need to understand one thing:

Is it possible to deactivate Vc_Updating_Manager->getRemote_version() HTTP API call on every wp-admin page except plugins.php? It makes the admin panel very slow. Please have a look at the screenshot https://prnt.sc/tyw1wi. API calls from other plugins usually take around 1 second.

Can you also explain if it’s necessary to autoload all options: https://prnt.sc/tyw8op? I haven’t seen these options few months ago.

Appreciate response. Regards, Jakub

Hi, It is currently not possible to deactivate the call to getRemote_version as it is used to check the current version and notify when an update is released.
The options control features such as column display on page and it’s layout.

@appnetdesign It works perfectly for me with zero errors in the Console tab of dev tools without the Test jQuery Updates plugin, so I don’t know why it would be one way for you and be perfectly fine for me. Not calling you a liar; I just want the developers to have all of the information so, if there is a problem, they can diagnose it quicker.

@dgold75 Yes; I can can edit and save text in rows. I’ve already gone back to working on my clients’ websites as normal.

Using https://wordpress.org/plugins/enable-jquery-migrate-helper/ worked for me for issue WP bakery backend vanishes with Wordpress 5.5

Hello, It will help in-case any plugin at your end relies on jquery migrate as it is no longer enabled by default in WordPress 5.5 release.

Wordpress 5.5 just BROKE Visual Composer!! ALL MY CLIENT IS ANGRY NOW AHHHHHHHHHHH

Hello, The issue is arising from one of the plugins or theme which is dependent upon “jquery-migrate” which is no longer enabled by default since WordPress 5.5. This plugin/theme in-turn is affecting WPBakery Page Builder and causing the issue with backend editor. To fix this, you can install a plugin: Enable jQuery Migrate Helper (https://wordpress.org/plugins/enable-jquery-migrate-helper/) on your setup so that there is no such issue. Please note that this is a temporary fix until the plugin/theme which causes the issue, release an update with a fix.

It appears the plugin doesn’t work with Wordpress 5.5. It has to do with the fact that jQuery Migrate was removed from core. When I install the Test jQuery Updates plugin everything works fine again. The plugin needs to be updated and not rely on jQuery Migrate.

Hello, The WPBakery Page Builder does not rely on jQuery migrate. It might be a conflict from one of the plugins or theme which is dependent upon it.

@samuelldrew The theme files are up to date. Different errors in backend only occur if WPBakery is activated.

@hebeyer Did you update your theme files to make sure that they’re compatible with 5.5? Even though it’s the back end, the theme files still run.

I deactivated all plugins in Wordpress except for WPBakery and unfortunately the error still occurs. We’ll most likely have to wait for a customized update for WPBakery to fix the bug.

I disabled WPBakery, and I realized that I couldn’t get Screen Options to drop down and open for me, which told me that there was a bigger issue still. I then disabled all of my plugins and re-enabled WPBakery just to check, and it worked fine; so, I knew that it wasn’t the problem even though it was the thing that seemed to be broken. I then started re-enabling all of the plugins one by one, and it turned out that it was Essential Grids that was breaking the editor. I updated it to the version that was released today, and everything works correctly now. I recommend going through and updating all of your plugins.

Hello, The plugin might not be compatible with recent WordPress release which in-turn might be affecting the WPBakery Page Builder.

Do you have Massive addon plugin? If I inactivate it, then wpb backend works

Hello, The addon might be dependent upon jquery migrate which is not enabled by default in WordPress 5.5 release.

Same here. WPBakery is broken with WP 5.5. Switching the Role Manager settings does not help.

Hi. We have the same issue after updating to WordPress 5.5. But I found that going in to the Role Manager settings and changing it from Post Type: Pages to Post Type: Custom and then checking the box for Page makes everything work again.

Hi, 2 years ago you wrote here about HTML in image captions „The html is currently not supported by single image captions. However we already have it on our list to check it’s possible implementation while revamping the image element in future.“. 2 years passed…how can I use HTML captions using wpbakery image element? Wordpress core allows that. Thank you

Hello, We had not made an enhancement to caption rendering in past. As WordPress core now supports such functionality we have re-added it onto our enhancement list so that it can be implemented in future.
