Hi, I encounteres the following problem. A couple of days ago I’ve been checking one of websites that uses the plugin. It used to be all ok – the widgets and shgortcodes displayed forecasts correctly. Today, I discovered that all day names changed to English, despite of correct language settings both at my WP instance and your plugin. If I choose OpenStreetMap weather API, I get all days in English. And if I choose DarkSky’s API, I get all days in Eglish, except Saturdayand Sunday, which are shown correctly in the language of my choice (Polish). How can I fix that?

We are not aware of any issues with the language display, it should always show in the language of your WP install. Please make sure you are using the latest version of the plugin. If you open a ticket on our support platform with WP login info, we can investigate this issue further. All the best.

Simple Weather pulls weather info through API from two different stations: DarkSky and OpenWeatherMap. You can choose which one you wish to use in the plugin settings. There are no GDPR concerns, as you don’t collect visitors info, it’s just a weather info display. If you wish to have a display for the visitor’s weather, through geolocation, you are collecting visitor’s IP address. Still, the info is just for display, the plugin does not store any data. Yes, you can display the visitors weather through geolocation. The location can be automatically displayed if you are using the widget. In the shortcode display, if you want the location also, you can add it only like regular text, next to the shortcode, so it is not possible to display it through geolocation. All the best.
I just bought the plugin recently because of shortcodes but unfortunately shortcodes doesn’t show the information in right format like widget and some info is also missing. Is there any way to achieve widget like display with shortcode. My location data is dynamic so I cant do it with widget. Please help me here.

The widget and shortcode have different displays, you can not achieve the boxed display with the widget, through the default plugin options. Also, the shortcode will not display info like wind, clouds, etc. Such changes would require custom coding. All the best.
Does this plugin keep a cache data from weather API or it calls for data every time? If yes, how long it stores cache?

You can find the Default Weather Check Interval option at Settings > Simple Weather > Advanced. Here you can set, in minutes, how often the plugin should make a call for the weather info. If you leave it 0, it will check with each page refresh. All the best.

Can you please add a shortcode that displays the widget? I want the full functionality in the widget(which your shoirtcode doesn’t cover – why?), but with a dynamically set location(custom field on the specific post). Easy with your shortcode, but not as complete as your widget. Alternatively, is there a filter/hook to dyanmically set the location on your widget? If so, I could just define a sidebar for this and use the widget.

Hi, I’m using your plugin through envato elements, so it won’t say purchased here. But I’ve got a license for it. Anyways, on your homepage for the weather plugin, at the top, you’ve got the weather icon displayed next to the temperature and the day right above both, I can’t figure out how to get that format using the shortcode. Is that possible? Or do I need to make a widget and add the widget to a row in visual composer?

All linear displays in the demo are added through shortcode, only the two displays in boxes are added with a widget. You should check the shortcode dedicated chapter in our documentation: http://docs.curlythemes.com/simple-weather/#shortcode-usage for all display parameter. You can try activating lazy load at Settings > Simple Weather. If you have this already active, you can also check your caching plugin settings related to scripts. All the best.
Hi there, I have some pre-sales questions:
1. Do I need an OpenWeather or DarkSky API Key? If so, is the key free or do I need to pay an annual/one-time fee for it? Or do I generate a key from within your plugin settings? Can you give me all the details on that. Thanks.
2. In your Live Preview page near the bottom it says “Location / GPS Coordinates” does that mean I can manually input my own exact location via GPS Coords and receive weather data from the nearest weather station? Or do I need to choose a locations by typing in a location name? Because the location I need weather for is a remote location in the Himalayas, and it would be ideal if I could choose my own location based GPS Coords.

Yes, you should add an API for the weather station you choose. They can be generated for free on the station site. You can define the location through latitude and longitude coordinates for both stations. You should test if the weather forecast is accurate for your location on Dark Sky: https://darksky.net and OW: https://openweathermap.org All the best.

This should be caused by the value added in the date parameter, as we have changed, at some point, the date format to moment JS. You should change the value in the shortcode to the new format and it will work fine. All the best.

Each weather display needs to have a location set in the backend, you can not use the plugin as a weather search engine. You can display the forecast for the visitor’s location, just make sure you add a geolocation API in the settings panel. All the best.
Hi, Own API for geolocation fixed the problem, and now the weather is showing, thanks! But now the problem is different, the location is not correctly determined! And the weather does not match the location. (Set “location =”auto”). How to fix it ?
