Well, I have spent two days on what should have been a very easy install and still cannot get it working. I am not a website designer, so my knowledge is basic, but I was able to install a free weather plugin called weather Atlas Widget with no trouble at all….just did not like that it had ads.
So that is why I chose Astero weather….got it working yesterday, then when I tried to change the background image it quit working. I don’t mind paying for a plug-in and extra for support…..but it should not be this difficult.
Just added weather Atlas widget below yours on my site…took 2 minutes.

I think it is a caching problem. Please check if you are using any caching plugin in the Dashboard and clear cache.
If you want to customize the appearance, then it is necessary to clear cache. This will apply to any plugin.
Since you are using Cloudflare, you should check if you are using “Auto Minify” and “Rocket Loader” too under “Speed” settings. Sometimes clearing cache cannot update the styles too if you have enabled those settings.

Thanks. I am sure your plug-in is excellent, it is just that I am not a designer and have to have really simple instructions. I have been clearing the cache both with cloudflare and wp rocket..yesterday that seemed to have no effect but today it is working ok.
It seems to be working with the custom image for now….keeping my fingers crossed!
No problem. Also note that you can upload custom images for up to 7 different weather conditions.

One more question: are you saying I should permanently disable “Auto Minify” in cloudlflare? It gives me 3 boxes to uncheck: javascript, html, css Or just temporarily
Well…quit working again.
Do you have a screenshot of how it looks like when it quits working? If there are only dots and nothing is loading, then the javascript is not loaded.

Finally gave up….too complicated for me.
Setn you a pm…tried deactivating Autoptimize and then also WP Rocket but that did not help.
In cloudflare I have checked: Autominify Javascript CSS & html

Well, I thought I had everything done right…made one change to add a custom image background, but now I get a black background with the three bouncing dots again. Cleared my chache on Cloudflare…what am I doing wrong?

No custom photo is loaded. From your website it appears that you are also using a caching plugin. Make sure that if you are using a caching / minify type of plugin, you need to clear cache too from the Dashboard in your plugin.

I’ve uploaded but there doesn’t seem to be much editing capability in relation to layout?
I’d like to have 3-4 boxes with temperature in one and another with today and tomorrow’s forecast going across in a single row? Is this possible?

Yes there are mainly 2 layouts. A simple layout and full forecast layout. You can view examples of them here: http://demo.archtheme.com/astero/
You can create multiple weather displays with different locations.
To display weather forecast in a single row, you may want to customize with some css styles using the “Full Forecast Layout” style.

I bought the plug-in last year, but just could not figure out how to get it to work. I am not a tecchie, so that is probably the problem. But based on the great reviews you get, I want to try again so I bought support in hopes that I can make it work this time..
I think I have installed it correctly, but it is blank and when I input a city, I just see the 3 little dots jumping up and down with no results.

Yes, you’ll need to clear cache when you make any styling changes (changes that affect the appearance). Or if nothing seems to be updated after you’ve made changes, it’s always a good idea to clear cache first as the first step to debugging.

Make sure when you’re uploading the zip file, it’s the file called “astero.zip” inside the main.zip file and not “main.zip”.

This plugin can display 8 different weather locations on the same page no problem. However you need to create the weather settings manually on the backend. If these 8 locations never change, then there should be no problem for you.
If the 8 weather locations have to be set dynamically, on-the-fly on the webpage, then you’ll need to customize the plugin to do that.

I googled your error, and it’s possible that the media upload script is not properly loaded.
Try to add the following lines to your functions.php file

Are you using the Simple Layout or Full Forecast Layout under “Layout” in your weather settings?
If you want to view the extended forecast on mobile, then you should choose the Simple Layout. That way there will be a button to open the extended forecast in full screen.
The “Full Forecast Layout” will automatically shrink to fit the device width on mobile devices, so users actually see less information on mobile.

You can create two weather displays. Select “Simple Layout” for one and “Full Forecast” layout for the other.
Add both widgets to your page. Then in your css add some media queries. On devices larger than mobile show the “Full Forecast” layout widget, and on mobile devices hide the “Full Forecast” layout and show the one with the Simple Layout.

Astero is compatible with the latest version of WordPress. Sometimes the plugin may have a little styling conflict with your theme or other plugins, but in most cases I can work out the problem with users.
If the plugin fails to work as advertised, then you can apply for a refund.

It appears the javascript for the plugin are not loaded at all.
Make sure you clear all backend cache, including plugins that minify / compress files, and also cached files on Cloudflare if you are using Cloudflare.

Pre-Sale Q: Was wandering can this plugin work for a site like tripadvisor, that displays a whole bunch of properties from around the world, and it will show the weather from where the location of the listing is from. Sorry, this plugin cannot automatically display weather from a location. The weather displays has to be added manually in the backend. You will need to customize the plugin for it to work the way you want.

Please remove “https://api.darksky.net/forecast/” from your API key under Settings > Astero Weather > Dark Sky (Forecast.io) API Key
The key should only include the random generated letters and numbers.
Remember to clear cache after updating the key.

Two suggestions:
1. Make sure that cache is cleared. Including backend cache, browser cache, and Cloudflare cache (if you use Cloudflare).
2. You can upload custom images for up to 7 weather conditions. If you have only uploaded a custom image to the condition “Clear Sky” (for example), and your weather is cloudy or rainy, then the default image will be shown and you will not see the custom image for “Clear Sky”.
If the above don’t help, please send me your url and I’ll take a look.
