Hi,
If the user uploads file, the admin will receive notification, if the admin does, the user will receive notification.
Also the user notification will only work if the admin uploads files to the user’s own default folder. It wont work for other folders.
Dear Support, We are having trouble allowing Subscribers to have Read Only Access. Keep getting ‘Permissions Denied’ even though Subscribers set to the same folder at Editors and have Read Access.
Here is where I am at in the troubleshooting on that:
-Adding the shortcode for Editor with (read/Write) access, + Subscriber shortcode with (read) access, allows login form to display and the correct login URL.
-Just adding one Shortcode does not allow Login form or Correct Login URL to Display.
-Once someone with Editor status logs in, they are able to see all docs and read/write to the folders but the Subscriber cannot view. Still permission denied even with the rules added in the plugin.
-Adding the shortcode alone for Subscriber group with (read only) access does not show login form.
Any chance there is an update available or bug that could be causing the issue? have you see this lkind of issue before or have any possible work arounds?

If you are generating a shortcode for editors, it will only work for the editors, not the subscribers. Also you can have two shortcodes in one page unless you use permissions brackets like this:
[fm_access group='subscriber']
[shortcode for subscribers...]
[/fm_access]
[fm_access group='editor']
[shortcode for editor...]
[/fm_access]

Hello! When i’m assigning folders to users, it seems to only go two levels deep. I have a few folders that are several layers down that aren’t showing up for me to choose from. example: root/folder1/subfolder1/subfolder2 works fine, but anything after that (root/folder1/subfolder1/subfolder2/subfolder3) isn’t showing up. Any help would be great!
You can go to the settings page of filemanager and find Folder Depth option, you can change this to 4 or 5. Try not to choose a big number or else the folder dropdown will get too flooded and make it hard to find the right folder. Screenshot:

I have recently purchased this plugin and I have come to realize that this plugin is not compatible with IE. There is IE icon in your plugin banner as well so I thought this might not be an issue. However, I came to realize later that you have not mentioned IE in the compatibility section. Do you have any plans for making it compatible with IE? Else we might have to look for other options as our requirement is that it should be compatible with IE anyhow.

The plugin wont work with old versions of IE, IE 11 and edge should work fine. If you see a content block option on IE, you can unblock it and the plugin will start to work.
Well something happened, i was able to view folders as they were assigned but now i get the same message again, didnt really do any changes.
Now i tried the shortcode [filemanager foldername=”*“] but still same message

These files are generated for thumbnails. You can disable thumbnail creation in connector.php inside php folder of the filemanager and add this line to the root array:
tmbPath: false,

Default folder for each user are already configured, you just need to use this shortcode: [filemanager]
This shortcode will let all the users have access to their own folders inside uploads folder.
I still get same message: Invalid backend configuration. Readable volumes not available. I created my own folders for each user trough filezilla, not the default made ones, they are set to read and I granted permissions using filezilla
Ok, if you created your own folders, then here are the steps you should take:
1. Assign all those folders to their respective user from the users page under filemanager, or wordpress users page.
2. Use this shortcode: [filemanager foldername=”*“]
This shortcode shows everyone all their assigned folders.
Hello, There are 2 documents in public_html folder. They are ’’ .quarantine ’’ and ’’ .tmb ’’ folders. All reading, writing and running permissions are checked for these folders. Is this situation normal for security?

Yes, these documents are made by the filemanager for thumbnails and temporary usages, you can ignore them.
I have removed them (.quarantina and .tmb) There is also cgi-bin folder brother

Yes, you can delete cgi-bin folder, it is used for compiled scripts. You wont need it.

Use any height instead of 600. The default height that you see is 400.
The search options are included in the new version and have not been translated yet. They probably will be translated in the next filemanager update.

Hi, I have a pre-sale question. Can we view documents from this plugin? According to your update version 7.0, it is mentioned that documents can be viewed as supported by the google viewer but I would like to confirm it before purchasing this plugin. Also, can you please add some document files in the plugin demo so that we can verify it.

Yes, some popular document formats are supported in google viewer. I have added a docx and xls document in the demo, you can try viewing them in google docs.
Just remember, it doesnt support every office document format. I’ll try to add more documents support in the next update.

two questions before purchasing: 1.) does this plugin allows multiple groups or does it support any multiple group plugins? 2.) How about the security. According to the demo, the uploaded files are visible for everyone if you type in the URL. Is there any possibility to get restricted permissions and each user can only access their files?

1. Yes plugin allows multiple groups and you can use all popular user role plugins.
2. If the files are placed in the public folder like wp-content and uploads folder then they are visible publicly, otherwise they are not accessible, you can also add htaccess to deny all if that folder allows direct access.
Thanks so far for you quick Reply. Unfortunatly we are hosting on NGINX which isn’t supporting .htaccess. As well as we tried to figure out to run “Multiple Roles” Plugin. We can define different groups/roles but we can’t match them with the file manager. There’s still just one role for each user, unfortunatly not multiple. But it’s necessary for this project.
You can assign the same folders to multiple roles, by going to Group Settings page and assigning the folders to each role. If thats what you needed.
Yeah that’s right, and that’s what we expected, but it’s not working out. Because each user (File Manager -> Users) can have only one role not multiple roles. Which means if we are using plugins to support more than one role it works for wp itself but not with this plugin. We need to add manually for each user the folders. In best case after registration each user have their own folder and if the user has more than just one role they also have access to all folders which are related to the user group.
Ok, which plugin are you using for multiple user roles. I may check it out before the next update and see if something could be done about it.
Currently we are using the smart and tiny plugin “Multiple Roles”. But we’d also like to try others or code a sulution by ourself. Fortunatly the “Multiple Roles” plugin using he standard user groups and just match it, which is comfortable to use.

Make sure you have assigned yourself a folder, you can go to users and find your username or user groups and find your user role and assign a folder, screenshot:
