I’m experiencing an issue with Instagram feeds showing duplicate-looking content, and after extensive debugging I’ve identified the root cause.
This is NOT a simple duplication of identical items (same ID/URL), but rather the plugin rendering two different Instagram objects for what is essentially the same content:
- One item appears as a Reel:
- type = video-camera
- iframe = iframe
- URL format: /reel/...
- The other appears as a Post:
- type = camera
- iframe = icbox
- URL format: /p/...
Both items often:
- come from the same user
- have very similar or identical captions
- are posted within a very close timeframe
- visually represent the same content
From debugging the final $final array before rendering, I can confirm:
- IDs are different
- URLs are different
- so standard deduplication (by ID or URL) does not work
The issue seems to originate from the plugin fetching and merging multiple Instagram endpoints (likely Reels + Feed), without a consolidation layer to detect equivalent content.
Expected behavior: The plugin should detect and suppress equivalent items (e.g. Reel vs Post versions of the same content), or provide a setting to prefer one type (e.g. Reels only).
Suggested improvements:
1. Add a deduplication layer based on content similarity (user + timestamp + media reference) 2. Or provide an option to exclude either: 3. Or allow filtering by type (video-camera vs camera)

- or standard posts
At the moment, this results in visibly duplicated content in the frontend, which cannot be reliably fixed without modifying plugin core logic.

Hi, Your plugin is working correctly when I am logged in to my website. But when not logged in, the thumbnails are not generated. When clicking on the empty item, the video is opening and playing correclty. Can you provide help on this please?

I have used this plugin for a few clients over the past few years and I’m very happy with it. One of my clients Facebook sites has been hacked recently and Facebook have disabled his account. He is unlikely to get it back and has now started a new Fb page. His images were mostly stored on his old FB account and synced to the website. Is there anywhere the images are archived at all on my end of the site so that I can at least recover them for him?
