Are you guys aware of a serious vulnerability: https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/wordpress-plugins/hbook/booking-calendar-event-calendar-216-unauthenticated-stored-cross-site-scripting-via-multiple-parameters
Hello,
Be reassured, this is not the HBook plugin from Maestrel, and there are no vulnerabilities. It is a false alert!
This check by WordFence is done against WordPress.org plugins, but HBook, by Maestrel, has never been on WordPress.org.
Here is the detailled explanation:
There used to be a plugin named “Booking calendar – Event calendar” which had a slug as “omnivo” on WordPress.org. Years ago, the author changed the slug to “hbook”. This plugin was archived on wordpress.org in 2022, but you can still see it on WordPress.org : https://wordpress.org/plugins/hbook/
What WordFence, or other security plugins, do is that they check your plugins slugs, against WordPress.org repositories. As they find a match with an archived plugin, they display an alert message.
We contacted WordPress.org a few years ago, and again recently, but there was nothing to be done… We contacted WordFence already about it, but they asked us to check directly with WordPress.org…
In a nutshell, you are all good, and there are no vulnerabilities in HBook plugin by Maestrel. You can ignore the vulnerability message from WordFence.
Best regards
Céline
O wow thanks, I was worried because your CodeCanyon url was also in the email.
BTW I waited updating to Wordpress 7 for this site with Hbook, is it safe and tested to update?
Hi,
I will contact WordFence again, as what they display is completely wrong and misleading. At least, they should point to the correct path for the WordPress.org plugin…
Other security plugins have run checks, and they have fixed their incorrect report.
Please do not hesitate to forward your findings to WordFence, as it may help for someone at WordFence to have a look at this false notification!
Yes, you can update to WordPress 7. All good! It has been tested, and for your information, our demos already run with WordPress 7.
Kind regards,
Céline
Hi,
Just for your information, it may be that WordFence had an issue. If you check the link for “codecanyon.net” in “References” section of the report you shared, it does not link to HBook on CodeCanyon… Check the title, and you will understand what I mean. I have reported this to WordFence, and you may wish to do so.
Best regards
Céline
I think they are aware of the mistake because the content of that ticket is changed over the day. Thanks for letting me know and I’m glad it’s not your plugin. Btw update to WP7 went fine. Thanks for your help and great plugin!
Hello team, I have been using this for sometime, and it is great. Is it possible to track the employee for example on comment, if one employee writes comment, we don’t know who wrote, how to track the logged in users. Also, once the comment place add the current user and time stamp and disable editing. Happy to purchase another plugin if you have and pay some extra for this feature.
Hello
We currently do not offer such functionality.
To add username and timestamp to the comment should be rather straightforward. To prevent editing is a bit more complex, and I would need to check our code further.
Feel free to send me a support request and I will check what should be modified to

Hi, I am interested in your Hotel Management System. I have a potential client currently using a very detailed manual Excel sheet. To ensure your system fits their workflow, I have a few specific questions regarding the modules. Could you please clarify the following points?”
Technical Inquiry Regarding Hotel Management System Functionality Subject: Inquiry about specific features for a potential client migration from Excel
1. Multi-Currency and Split Payment Support
Question: Does the system allow for multiple payment methods for a single booking (e.g., a guest paying part in Cash and part by Credit Card)? Also, can the system handle multiple currencies (USD, EUR, etc.) and automatically convert them to a base currency for financial reporting?
Context: My client currently manually tracks different currencies and payment types in separate columns.
2. Flexible “On-the-Fly” Charges (Miscellaneous Expenses)
Question: How does the system handle non-room charges such as technical repairs, maintenance fees, or small item sales (e.g., water packs) directly on the guest’s folio? Can these be added as custom items without pre-configuring them in the inventory?
Context: The current Excel sheet tracks “Toilet float repairs” and “Internet box moves” alongside room charges.
3. Visual Occupancy Grid (Gantt Chart View)
Question: Does the Booking Module provide a visual “Room Map” or “Availability Calendar” (Gantt Chart)? It is crucial for the user to see a color-coded grid (Green for available, Red for occupied) to manage walk-ins quickly.
Context: The client is used to a visual color-coded block system on the right side of their Excel sheet.
4. Deposit and Partial Payment Tracking
Question: Does the Accounts Module have a dedicated workflow for “Deposits”? If a guest pays a deposit weeks in advance, how is that balance carried over to the final check-out bill?
Context: Deposit tracking is a core part of their current daily operation.
5. Operational Expense Integration
Question: Can the system record general hotel overhead costs (e.g., monthly Electricity, Water, and Internet bills) that are not linked to a specific guest? Will the “Reports Module” automatically subtract these operational expenses from the total revenue to calculate “Net Profit”?
Context: The client tracks high-level utility costs directly in their daily management sheet.
6. Simplified “Stay Extension” (Extend Feature)
Question: How does the system handle stay extensions? If a guest decides to stay longer, can the user extend the checkout date with one click, or do they need to create a new booking?
Context: The “Extend” status is used frequently in their current manual records.
7. Audit Logs and User Permissions
Question: Does the system maintain a detailed “Audit Log” or “History” of changes? If a price is changed or a payment is deleted, can the administrator see which staff member performed the action?
Context: Moving from Excel, the owner is looking for better security and accountability.
Looking forward to hearing from you

Hello,
Thank you for your interest in HBook plugin.
When adding HBook to your WordPress site, you add an online booking system, which allows your guest to book directly on your website (with or without upfront payment). HBook gives you as well tools to manage the reservations (emails, documents, etc.).
I reply below to your different questions.
1. Multi-Currency and Split Payment Support
HBook does not support multi-currency, which means you can not set the rates in different currencies. However, for the online payment, many payment gateways (PayPal, Stripe, etc.) offer conversion and payments in different currencies. The customer can pay in his currency and the gateway does the conversion.
As for split payments: yes, you can view and add payments for a reservation. If a guest paid a deposit online, for example, it will be automatically added to the reservation payments history. And if he pays cash the remaining balance, you can add a payment line (date, method, amount, comment).
2. Flexible “On-the-Fly” Charges (Miscellaneous Expenses)
With the current version of HBook, it is not possible to add “on-the-fly” expenses. You can create extra-services that can be added to the reservations. It is in our wishlist for future developments. With the current version, you will need to use workarounds (for example use an “Extra-service” that will be hidden with CSS for the front-end), or add admin fields to the reservation (this is possible) to list the on-the-fly charges and manually modify the stay price when the guest check-out, to count for these extras, and have them added to the final invoice.
3. Visual Occupancy Grid (Gantt Chart View) Yes, this is provided by HBook. You can as well add reservation from the admin for walk-in customers or reservation taken by phone/email.
4. Deposit and Partial Payment Tracking Yes, this it provided by HBook. I suggest using Stripe as payment gateway, as we have an advanced integration with this payment gateway. Please read this article from our knowledgebase.
5. Operational Expense Integration
No, this is not something HBook provide. We do not manage the hotel general expenses as for example the hotel electricity, Internet or water expenses. You can export a CSV file of the reservations data for a specific period and use this file in Excel. Then, you will build your “Account report” in Excel, taking into account the hotel expenses, etc. This is done outside HBook.
6. Simplified “Stay Extension” (Extend Feature)
This is easily done directly in the admin Reservations list. You can add guests, change the dates of the stay (so extending the stay for example), change the room allocated, add extra-services, etc.
The price is automatically updated.
7. Audit Logs and User Permissions
We do not track WordPress user actions. This will need a custom development.
For the payment history, you can have the date of the payment. For emails history, you have as well the date/time in the email logs. And we log changes of reservation statuses (but not the user who performed the action).
Hoping it replies to your questions!
For your information, we have an 8-days refund policy. Feel free to test HBook and to send us a support request if you need any help with the set-up.
Kind regards
Céline, Maestrel
Hello, I have pre sale question.
1.Is there possibility to set up tourist tax fee (for example 2€ per guest per night) with the condition, that this fee will be counted only until first 7 nights? For example within 1 guest staying for 8 or more nights, it will still add up only 14€ (2€ * 7 nights)?
2.How does iCal integration from OTA works with check-in and check-out times? Does it feed only dates, or also actual check in and out times from OTA? With other plugin I had an issue, that it always grab time 00:00, but not real check in times. (For example, from reservation on booking.com from 10th to 17th of May the other plugin aways blocks one more night before, from 9th to 17th of May. Because it does not reflect the real check in time at 3PM on 10th of May, so plugin understand that room is blocked already from 00:00 on 10th of May. Can you please assure me that in this plugin there is no such an issue? And if there is, can I easily adjust reservation times from OTAs to have calendar correctly integrated in plugin?
Thanks, Tomas
Hi Tomas,
Thank you for your interest in HBook.
1. With the current version of HBook, it is feasible, but it requires using a workaround (no code needed).
We wish to modify the tax/fees options to have this maximum amount per person within the settings. But until it is added, you will have to use the following workaround.
It consists in duplicating the accommodation types (one will be for up to 7 nights stays, and the other for 8 and more nights stays), By doing so, you can set the tax exactly as you describe. You will use the automatic blockings’ functionality, which will keep your availability correct.
2. With HBook, you can use both (only dates, or date/time) and you can customize the check-in/out time. You will not have an issue as the one you describe.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any help with the set-up. We are delighted to help.
Greetings from the Algarve!

is there any option to add wocommerce checkout?
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in our plugin, HBook.
I am afraid that HBook does not support WooCommerce. We are not planning on adding it as it does not apply the same booking process as what HBook offers.
However, if you were interested in WooCommerce for the WooCommerce payment gateways, it might interest you to know that we have developed 40+ payment gateways add-ons for HBook. For a full list of payment gateways, please check this page.
If you wish to test HBook, to check if it will suit your needs, we have an 8-day refund policy.
If you have other pre-sales questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Hello,
Thank you for your interest in HBook plugin.
HBook allows you to add online booking to your WordPress site.
You will use it for: 2. Reservation & Booking Engine
You can as well use HBook to manage the reservations for the front desk staff, but it is not a full PMS system.
If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to come back to us.
Kind regards

Okay, thanks for the clarification.
How many months are reservation records stored in WordPress? Is there a limit?
Hi,
Thank you for your interest in HBook.
No, there are no limits set by HBook. We do not delete reservations automatically.
In HBook > Misc > Reset HBook , you can easily delete all reservations with a single click. We have users who like to do a reset after each season, for example. You can reset reservations, customers, blocked dates.
If you have other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Best regards
Céline
thanks
is it possible to show all previous bookings in the reservations visual calendar instead of in the Archived reservations section? customer is finding it annoying for going over last years reservations as it doesn;t show in visual calendar
Hi,
Yes, you will find a setting in HBook > Misc > Reservation list settings to indicate the “Delay before archiving”, in number of months. You can indicate a high number of months.(48 for 4 years for example).

Céline, Maestrel
Hi there, I am evaluating your plugin for a WordPress website featuring 4 villas. I have a specific workflow in mind and would like to confirm if HBook can handle it:
- Availability Sync: I need to import availability calendars from Airbnb for each of the 4 villas via iCal so that the website always shows up-to-date availability.
- Booking Process: I do not want guests to book and pay directly online. Instead, I want them to select their desired dates on the calendar and then be directed to a contact form or have their selection sent to me via email as a booking request.
- Multiple Properties: Can HBook easily manage 4 separate calendars (one for each villa) on the same site?
Does HBook support this ‘Enquiry/Request’ mode out of the box, or would I need a specific configuration to disable the checkout/payment process?
Thank you for your help!
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in HBook plugin. I can confirm that our plugin is perfect for your needs.
I give you more details below, with links to help articles that may interest you.
1. iCal sync: you can sync each villa both ways with AirBnb. Availability will be updated automatically on AirBnb and on HBook.
How does the iCal sync work?
2. Booking request: you can disable the online payment, and use HBook as a booking request system.
How to disable the payment system
Can I send booking request?
3. Yes, you can have 4 separate accommodation types, which will be your 4 villas. Each will have its own calendar, all good!
If you have further pre-sales, please do not hesitate to come back to me.

Hi, Pre sale questions. My situation is as follows: I can rent an entire apartment or just one room in it. Does the plugin allow me to block apartment reservations when the apartment is booked for a specific date? And conversely, will it block the ability to book a room when the apartment is booked? Thanks!
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in HBook.
Yes, this can be done. It will work exactly as you describe, with automatic blocking.
You can check this help article from our knowledgebase.
If you have other pre-sales, or if you need any help, please do not hesitate to come back to me.

I have one more question: does the system allow for advanced tax configuration? I’m referring to the tourist tax, which varies depending on the season. Additionally, it’s only charged for a maximum of 7 days per person. So, if someone books 14 days, they still only pay the tax for 7 days. Thank you!
Hello,
We currently do not have an option to set taxes according to seasons. Neither is it possible to set a maximum when it is per person/day.
You will need to use a workaround. If you haven’t done it yet, would you please send us a request and share your tourist tax prices? I will check how to do the set-up and share with you how to proceed.

Does it supports multiple locations and Apple Pay through third-party integration. Can you assist with installation using a regular license?
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in HBook plugin.
You can add as many accommodation types as you wish. Please keep in mind that the search form does not have a filter for location (for example to select a city, or an are as in AirBnb.
We have clients who have listings in 2 or 3 different cities/areas, and they usually group them using [hb_accommodation_list] as you can specify which listings to showcase, and have a booking form beneath each listing.
Regarding Apple Pay: this depends on the payment gateway you wish to use. With Stripe, which is included in HBook, you can enable Apple Pay.
You have 6-month technical support included with the licence. We do not provide installation/set-up services, but we are here to help if you have any doubt. If you have any question, if you need advice to set up HBook, if you have an issue you need help with, please do not hesitate to send us a support request. We are always happy to help!
Best regards
Céline
Does the regular license include free installation, or is there a fee? If so, how much?
customise guest recieve an sms (via sms provider API) when booking in?
Hi,
We do not install HBook for you, but it is rather easy to add a plugin to WordPress. You will find detailed explanations in this section of our documentation.
With HBook, you can send emails to the guests, and you can set automatic emails (confirmation emails, scheduled emails, etc.). You can learn more about Emails here.
We do not have an SMS functionality, but you may wish to check “Email to SMS” 3rd party services. Please note that technical support does not include plugin customization or 3rd party setup. Thank you for your comprehension!
Please do not hesitate to send us a support request if you need any help.

Hello, I’m interested in your plugin, just two questions: We have 45 apartments (2 types -> identical for 4 and 6 people). When someone searches for, say, a 4-person apartment, will they see the availability calendar for each individual 4-person apartment or a single calendar for all 4-person apartments?
Is it possible to make a pre-reservation without payment, requiring administrator approval? thank for reply
Bonjour !
Thank you for your interest in HBook plugin.
For your first question :
- If you set each apartment as an accommodation type itself (45 accommodation types altogether), then the customer will see each individual 4-person apartment.in the results
- If you set it as two accommodation types (4-person apartment and 6-person apartment), and indicate how many you have of each type, then it will show only the 2 accommodation types in the results.
Optionally, you can set that the customer can choose which specific accommodation he wishes to book, and in this case, after selecting “4-person apartment”, HBook will display the list of 4-person apartments that are available and the customer can choose which one he wishes to book.
To sum it up, you have 3 different options:
- 45 accommodation types
- 2 accommodation types and no choice of which specific apartment
- 2 accommodaiton types and the customer can pick the specific apartment he wishes to book.
Yes, you can set HBook as a request booking system : Read this article for further details

Gracias.
Saludos,
Céline, Maestrel
ahora si, gracias
A few pre-sales questions: 1 – Does it integrate with PriceLabs? 2 – I want to control bookings via a Request to Book feature rather than allow instant bookings, is this natively possible without accepting and refunding if not approved? 3 – If the above isn’t possible, can I create bookings manually? (after I’ve used my own process for vetting bookings). 4 – Is there an upload field available in the booking form for people to upload a picture of ID for ID verification? 5 – Can per night fees be added? For example, $25/night per extra guest?
Thank you!
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in HBook plugin.
1. PriceLabs : we currently do not have an integration with PriceLabs. It is in our wishlist for future developments. We appreciate your patience!
2. Yes, you can use HBook to send booking requests that need to be approved. You can either ask for payment method to be provided at the time of the booking request (and you charge it from HBook admin, once you accept the reservation) or, if you prefer, you can send an email with a payment link when you confirm the reservation (the client pay himself). Both options are currently available only with Stripe as payment gateway. Please read this help article.and this one for payment links.
3. You can indeed as well create bookings manually from HBook admin (reservations received by email/phone,,,).
4. We currently do not offer an “Upload document” field type in the booking details form. It is in our wishlist for future developments. You will need to use a 3rd party (maybe Contact Form 7, and include the form in an HBook automatic email?).
5. Yes, you can add per night per extra-guests. You will set the “Normal occupancy” which is the occupancy for up to “x” guests. And then the “Maximum occupancy” is the maximum of persons that you can accept. You will then set your “Accommodation rate” ( = rate for up to normal occupancy) and the “Price per adult/child above normal occupancy”. The price can be different for extra-adults and extra-children. Please check this section of our documentation
If you have any further question, or if you need help with the set-up, please do not hesitate to send us a support request.

Hello, we are interesting in you system, but we have two questions, 1.- we want to integrate our clientes list, could be possible, or could integrate with other CRM plugin, 2.- its works for vacational rental, we have 4 houses, because in the only 3 rooms were available,
thanks fort comments
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in HBook plugin.
1. To import your customer list, you will need to import a CSV directly in the table “hb_customers” of the database. I suggest that you do an Exel export of your current customer list, and work from this list to map your current system customer data with HBook customer data. Once it is mapped correctly, you will export your Excel as CSV, and import it. The table “hb_customers” is straightforward. Please get in touch if you need guidance for the mapping.
2. Yes, HBook work for vacation rentals. You can have 4 accommodation types, that will be your 4 houses.
If you have any further question, please do not hesitate to ask! We speak English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
Best regards
Céline, Maestrel
Hi, just a quick question. I have purchased and love the plugin. Is there a way to show the price per night on the calendar picker? So they can see the rate before selecting the date? Many thanks in advance for the reply
Hello,
Thank you for enjoying HBook plugin!
We do not offer this functionality to display the nightly rates within the availability calendar. You can display a rate table with the shortcode [hb_rates] or the block “Rates table”, if you wish to display for example your rates and the availability calendars next to each other.
If you have any further question, please do not hesitate to ask.

Bonjour,
My name is Kym. I am wanting to purchase a number of plugins and scripts for my marketing agency and I would like to know if I am able install it via the WP Snippets AI plugin: https://wpsnippets.ai
If not, will it work with the Code Snippets plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/code-snippets
Merci, Kym
Hello Kym, bonjour!
Thank you for your interest in our online booking system, HBook.
For the installation of HBook plugin, it is as for any WordPress plugin : you upload the zip in “Plugins” menu and activate it.
For the set-up of HBook: you need to create at least one season, one accommodation type and one rate for this season and accommodation type. The rest of the set-up depends on the pricing strucutre and on your needs for the project you use HBook for.
There is no need for extra code, unless you need some customization.
HBook uses what is called shortcode and for example, you only need to write the shortcode [hb_booking_form] to display a booking form on your website, wherever you wish. No need for snippets nor coding knowledge.
Let’s say you have a set-up for a project, and you wish to copy it to a different project (as your starting point), you can do so simply by exporting/importing the settings file. This is done directly from WordPress admin, and it is a 2-click action.
We include settings to modify CSS (settings to change the default appearance, for example, the colors in the availability calendars). it is very simple and you do not need any 3rd party script.
I am not sure to understand exactly what you are after, so please do not hesitate to come back to me if you need further information.
Best regards
Céline, Maestrel
Hi there,
For the relaunch of the management of 70 vacation apartments in a small town, we are looking for a solution that meets the following requirements:
The individual vacation rental owners maintain the information themselves: images, text, prices, etc. Live booking is not possible (not required for our new solution). Each vacation rental can be requested, and the request is sent to the email address of the CMS user who manages the vacation rental/unit. Can your theme display this/does it have this functionality?
Is it compatible with Elementor (Pro)?
Thanks for your reply!
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in HBook plugin. I think I replied to your pre-sales question sent through our portal? Did you receive my emails?
You have additional questions here, so I do a recap!
I mention here what is feasible with HBook for this project and what is not.
The main issue you will be facing with HBook is that it is not a plugin to create a platform, with separate individual access for each owner to its listing, prices and reservations. If someone can access the admin of HBook, he will have access to all accommodation types (listings), pricing setting and reservations.
When we have clients who have project with multiple owners : - either the management is centralized, and this can be done with HBook (no owner access) - or there is a need for owner access: in this case, we recommend using a WordPress Multisite installation with 1 sub-site = 1 owner. The main site is a “landing” site but the reservation takes place on the sub-sites.
Yes, HBook can be used with Elementor Pro. You can use Elementor Pages for the display purposes, and keep HBook Accommodation Page only for the booking system set-up. See here.
You could find a workaround for owners to access their Elementor listing page only (password protected access, for example). But, to set the seasons/prices/booking rules, this would need to be managed by an administrator (if you do not wish to work on a WordPress Multisite).
Yes, you can use HBook without online payment. Please check here to understand how to use HBook as a booking request system.
Yes, you can have emails sent to the owner of the listing with the booking request details.
As mentioned in my email, if you wish to use HBook for this project, I would recommend using a WordPress Multisite installation, where each owner has its own HBook settings. It means that they can then manage their request, accept them, send payment links, emails, etc. directly from their sub-site.
Kind regards

Hi Maestrel, I have been using this web app for sometime and it is been useful, especially iCal sync and calendar display. I want to see if we can have control on the app. The following in admin logged in sessions: 1. If a user creates a note, how to know who created, can we ad a log when we can see created by. 2. If a user writes a note and changes later on, is it possible to for them not to be able to change their own note. I had to use WPdatatable features separately for this but at lease I want to know a. Who sent that estimate b. Who accept the payment c. Who confirmed the reservation d. Who downloaded a documents e. Who added the note, extra f. Who deleted the reservation Or g. Basically logged in users activity and submit and read only note. Its been hard for me to track the error that is made within the application. 3. If there is a booking at booking from OTA and get cancelled, the booking on the HBook remains blocked, is it possible to remove automatically? Too much manual work is being hard. 4. Does any of the above features requires additional work or customisation, please get back to me with some options. Sorry for long statement.
Hello,
You are asking in points 1 and 2 relates
There are different aspects in your request in point 1 and 2:
- “Comment”. To edit the “Comment”, you need to have either Administrative/HBook manager/Reservation manager role. You can modify this by adding a specific capability for editing the comment. It will require a small change (1 line).
- Activity log: keeping logs of user activity is not something that HBook does not offer. It would require customization of HBook. Some actions can be easily logged (mark as “Confirmed”, “Delete”, “Cancel” actions for example), others will require more development (not being able to change their own note for example, is not an easy one!).
- Emails sent : there are some aspects that are linked to “who sent this email”. As HBook already keep log of the emails sent, you could add a column for the username and customize email log function to save the username.
Please kindly note that technical support does not include plugin customization. Thank you for your comprehension.
3. If there is a cancelation for a reservation receveid on an OTA, HBook can indeed cancel it automatically. In HBook > ICal sync > Import settings, you will see a setting to update the reservation when its status has changed. Please make sure that it is set to “Yes”.
For any further help, please send us a support request on our HelpDesk. Thank you!

I hope you guys can help me. I purchased HBook, looks really super and I think I can set everything up, only then when I want to use the search form and detail form, I don’t see the shortcodes anywhere.
I purchased it through Envato.
Can you help me with the correct shortcodes, I tried [hb_search_form], it doesn’t work. [hb_booking_form] works, but then I don’t see all the options
The test website where I want to use it is: https://casalapluma.marv-websolutions.nl/
Hi,
You can use indeed the shortcode [hb_booking_form]. I see that the date picker does not open on the pop-up window where you have different forms.
Would you please add the shortcode [hb_booking_form] on a new page to test? The calendar should open as in our demos : https://demos.maestrel.com/hbook-1/
If you need further help with this, would you please come back to me by sending a support request?
Best regards
