I am sorry to hear that HBook does not suit your needs. Let's clarify that HBook is not a Channel Manager, so you might have picked the wrong product. If you are looking for a Channel Manager, and wish to ask for a refund, please contact me : https://maestrel.com/contact-support/
HBook is not a channel manager which use XML/API synchronization and has a fee of $25 to $350 PER MONTH, depending on the channel/functionalities you need.
What we offer is an online booking system to be able to offer direct bookings on your website, with or without online payment. You can indeed have your properties listed in booking platforms as AirBnb, booking.com, Expedia, etc. and you will be able to keep your calendars updated automatically across all platforms thanks to the ical synchronization.
May I take the time to explain how iCal sync works? What is called iCal synchronization is in fact an import of the ical feed of the calendars that are "synced" made at a regular frequency by each calendar/booking software. Here is what happens:
- Every hour (or at your custom frequency), HBook checks the ical feeds from all the calendars you have entered in HBook > iCal sync > Synchronized calendars. If you need it, you can as well refresh the calendars manually by clicking on "Update calendars" button. Any new reservation, received since the last sync, will be imported into HBook and appear in the list of reservation.
- At their own frequency, the external calendars (Google Cal, AirBnb, TripAdvisor, booking.com, HomeAway,...) do the same and check the HBook ical feeds you have entered in their ical sync settings. They will import the event (Google or iCal or any calendar software) or block the dates (AirBnb, TripAdvisor, booking.com, HomeAway or any booking platform).
With the ical synchronization, each platform decides what they share. Ical is basic exchange of calendar availability, which works great to have availability updated across platforms at no cost.
The ical properties available to share other information than the dates booked are the "SUMMARY" and "DESCRIPTION" field. Every booking platform use these differently, some share customer or booking information but others don't. The reason for which the platforms are usually not sharing full customer details or payment information is that it could be a clear breach of privacy. This kind of information should be retrieved through an API.
When importing a reservation, we include any information provided in the column "Information".Some platforms as AirBnb or TripAdvisor include a secured link to the reservation details and we display it in the HBook dashboard.
