Hi, Nice Idea but the plugin is not usable for me : I still have the following problems (despite the fact that i let you know by mail) : - some links to headers don’t work in the TOC - the html contained in the original headers is included in the TOC (causing trouble there) - If the TOC is too long for the screen height the overflow is hidden (I had to add some css) - The numbers given to the headers are wrong. Can thes problems be finally be solved ? Thanks.
Is this plugin capable of showing the contents of the next pages on paginated posts? I really need a plugin which shows all heads of the post, which jumps to another site if the clicked item is not on the same site.
If this is given, you’ll have another customer

The second “heading 3” which is a h3 tag is rendred as a h1 tag.

There are two “heading 3”. The heading name should not be the same.
Hi, the problem remains the same even if names are different.
It works. h3 is higher level than h4, so the “Second heading 3” become top level. Try change “Second heading 3” to h5 tag
Of course, but logically “Second Heading 3” should be at the same hierachy level than “First heading 3”, no?
I know. But sorry about that, It’s complex, I still have not figured out a good way to solve. If I come up with a solution, I will fix it.

When activating the plugin after installing I get something like “no valid header”. Nevertheless it seems to be installed and I can activate it via the plugin list. Unfortunately there seems to be a problem, that might come from my theme. Setting to initial open isn’t honored and some of the links in the TOC seem to have no effect at all. The theme uses the Visual Composer plugin. Could this be the reason?
The problem with initial open seems to have vanished. 
The link with no effect is obviously not a bug, as it appears only for the last link. As the last paragraph is already in view, when the penultimate paragraph is shown, there is no movement visible. Unfortunately scrolling through the TOC also doesn’t highlight the last link, as scrolling stopps before the last paragraph reaches the top of the window. Any chance to improve this?
This relatively tangle. Because it does not know you are referring to the last or penultimate paragraph.
I understand and it is not a real problem. It is just unexpected from a usability perspective. Another question: How is the distance of a header line from the top calculated? I have a fixed horizontal top menu and added it’s class to the TOC settings, which works. When using the TOC, a header line is though a little bit too close to the fixed menu. How would I add more distance here?

It’s your theme bug. It works when you log out. But it don’t works when you log in, because the top admin toolbar and top fixed nav menu are doublication. So you can access to users – Your Profile, uncheck “Show Toolbar when viewing site”.

Can you provide half the assistance? Just to clarify, I’m NOT looking for the script to keep the feature of auto-population by reading headings. I’m more interested on the css/html aspect.

class-tox.php, toc.css, toc.js are main files if you modify to php file.

function the_content(): add id to the post heading
function lists():generate heading lists
methods have relation with each other in class Fixed_TOC_Display.
You also need to pass data to js file. as WordPress function wp_localize_script() .
One other thing can you, if you have a small screen, do so that it stops before the headings, as it is now it shows the content but not the heading.

I have a little issue.
I installed the plugin on my testdrive.
When I activate it, the toc is shown for pages. But I don´t need it for pages, just for posts, so I looked into settings and deactivated everything but posts.
Not, the plugin shows nothing..
for pages it is still working. I dont use custom posts..
it was a plugin conversion. Your plugin is not compatible with the free plugin “selection sharer” from wordpress repo

it´s a testdrive. So demo is not possible. Well, when I change position or colors in the settings, nothing happens. But when I set custom CSS in custom CSS settings, it works.
Maybe post meta box options can’t not save into the database In your testdrive.
i don´t think so. Other metaboxes work without problems. The Testdrive is mysql driven as wordpres. Well, I found the issue. There is a plugin here on CC, called “Ninja Kick Custom Content”, a popular collapsable sidebar, that doesn´t work with your plugin together.
Another Plugin incompatibility.. Ajax Post Preview.. here on codecanyon. Deactivated it, not everything is fine
Very nice idea! In the demo collapse effect seems to be triggered by hovering the icon. Is it possible to have this (1) on click and (2) triggered by clicking something else on the page, that is separated from the toc?

Your proposal is good, the next upgrade I would consider adding this feature.
Thanks! Is it possible to have the toc only for specific pages or do I have to activate it for the whole post type and then deactivate it on all pages where it isn’t needed. A default “off” would be good, as not all pages have content long enough for a toc.
Has updated to v1.0.1, add default “on/off” options.
