Ran into the same error as other seem to be having using groq and gemini process 4 chapters then faults on the 5th and last chapter plenty of vram plenty of space nothing else running could it be it doesnt like the api’s ? which other free apis work for sure?
Hi, please contact me via support@aibookwriter.de and send me the generation log or a screenshot of the exact error.
Groq and Gemini should generally work, but free API tiers can be unstable for long book generations because they often have stricter rate limits, timeout limits, or output restrictions. If it always fails on chapter 5, it is likely an API/rate-limit/response-format issue rather than VRAM or disk space.
The most reliable options are usually OpenAI, Claude, OpenRouter, or LM Studio/Ollama locally. For free/low-cost testing, I recommend trying OpenRouter with a supported model, or LM Studio if you want to run a local model.
Also please make sure you are using the latest version. I’m happy to check the log and tell you exactly what caused the failure.
And that dear friends is what customer service looks like! Will get back to via email shortly
actually where is the generation log?
Hi,
Thank you for the kind words!
The generation logs can be found here:
C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\AIBookWriter\Logs
The easiest way is to compress the entire Logs folder into a ZIP file and send it to support@aibookwriter.de. That gives me the complete picture of what happened during generation and usually allows me to identify the root cause very quickly.
Based on your description, it could be a rate limit, timeout, or an unexpected API response from Groq or Gemini, but the logs will tell us exactly what’s happening.
Looking forward to your email.
Best regards, Robert
Hello, When I try to create a book, I get the following message:
“Failed to generate book: Failed to extract valid components.”
The model I use is: OpenAI 5.5. I changed it to 5, but the problem persisted.
Do you have any idea what the problem could be?
Hi,
this error usually means that the AI model returned a response in an unexpected format, so AI Book Writer could not properly extract the generated story structure/components.
The most common cause at the moment is using very new reasoning models like GPT-5.5. These models sometimes ignore strict formatting instructions required for structured book generation.
Please try the following:
Switch to a different model temporarily: GPT-4.1 GPT-4o-mini
Keep the book concept relatively short and clear for testing. Make sure your API key still has available credits/quota.
GPT-5.5 support is still experimental because some newer models return inconsistent structured outputs during story structure generation. The app expects a very specific structure format during the extraction step.
If you want, you can send me your application log files via email. So I can investigate the issue.
Best Robert
Hi, buergerrobertpf, It’s great that you’re keeping us in the loop!
I’d love to hear, based on your experience, which book format works best with which version of OpenAI.
When will it be possible to create series?
Thanks so much in advance!
Given the capabilities of the current versions of AI in “Thinking” mode, this should be possible. What do you think of the idea? Is anyone else here interested in this option?
“nuanced and engaging narratives” you use to describe some ai Which is your favorite ?
Hello, I’m currently writing my next book and, once it’s finished, the same introduction as the previous book appears automatically at the start. Why is this happening? How can I fix it? Thanks in advance!
Hi, this usually happens when the previous book data is still loaded in the app.
Please try the following steps:
1. In the top menu, go to File → New Book to start with a fresh project. 2. If the issue persists, close the app and navigate to AppData/Roaming/AIBookWriter/data Then delete the files book_config.json and book_data.json. 3. Restart the application and create your new book again.
This will fully reset the stored book data and prevent content from the previous book (like the introduction) from being reused.
If you’re still having trouble after that, feel free to reach out and I’ll be happy to help.
Thanks! I will give it a try!
Can I use this to create short fiction stories?
AI Book Writer can also be used to create short fiction stories. You can simply generate fewer chapters to produce short stories, flash fiction, or story ideas.
If you have any specific questions or need tips on setting it up for short fiction, feel free to ask
does it support Hindi
Hi, unfortunately not yet. But I will add the support in the next update. Thx
Hello, with the OpenRouter API key can I access also: the Anthropic Claude models?
Hi, yes you should be able to access all available models. But there is no official support for other models than the common chat models.
Could this be “converted” to a mobile app?
Hi! Thanks for your question. In principle, yes — but it wouldn’t be a simple “conversion” of the current app. AI Book Writer is a desktop application and a proper mobile version would require a dedicated backend/server to handle generation, project storage, long-running tasks, and API communication. The app is currently not designed around that architecture.
If I decide to build a mobile companion or a full mobile/cloud version in the future, I’ll announce it in the updates.
Hello, does the software work for self-help and self-improvement books? I have an OpenAI account. Or which AI model is the best for this type of books?
Yes, it supports self-help and self-improvement books. You will need an OpenAI API key, which you can generate in your OpenAI account. Feel free to check the documentation for a step-by-step guide.
Regarding the best model: the Anthropic Claude models work very well for this type of content. At the moment, there’s no single “best” model for this use case—it often depends on your writing style and preferences.
Thanks a lot
i need some customization before purchase(custom app ) please reply.
Please send an email to support@aibookwriter.de
Can people subscribe to use it
No, its a one time purchase. But you need to bring your own API keys or use a local LLM via LM Studio or Olama
Hi, I’m Douglas, and I’d like to know if you have a version for Firebase that other people can access.
Hi Douglas, not really sure what you mean with version for firebase. Could you please explain? Feel free to send me a mail with detailed information.
Hello friend,
When installing the software, I get the following message:
You cannot open the AIBookWriter application because it is not compatible with this Mac. My Mac is Intel.
Hi Miguel,
Mac Intel isn’t officially supported, but I can provide you with an unofficial build. Please send me a direct support request email, and I’ll share the download link with you.
Best regards, Robert
Hi friend, I just sent you my email.
Hi Miguel, I’ve sent you a mail with the download link for the intel version.
Hi friend, I didn’t receive any email, could you please send it again to my email: marketerexitoso@gmail.com
I’ve just resent the mail. Please also check your spam folder. Best Robert
you mention Support for multiple AI providers (OpenAI, OpenRouter, Gemini, Claude, Groq, DeepSeek) I pretty sure that open ai charges to use its api do you know if any of them are free?
You’re absolutely right — OpenAI’s API (like GPT-4 or GPT-4o) is paid and requires an API key with credits. However, several of the other providers can be used for free or with generous free tiers:
OpenRouter – offers free community models and occasional free credits for premium ones.
Gemini (Google) – has a free tier via makersuite.google.com for the Gemini 1.5 models.
Claude (Anthropic) – currently requires an API key, but some integrations (like Poe.com) allow limited free use.
Groq – provides free access to certain models (like Llama 3 or Mixtral) through their developer platform.
DeepSeek – offers a completely free API and even runs locally if preferred.
So yes, you can definitely use AI Book Writer without paying for OpenAI, by selecting a free provider in the Settings → Models tab.
Hello! You have a very cool application; it’s a pleasure to meet a fellow book lover, my respects!
Tell me, is it possible to purchase your application and enhance it for my own use with the help of a programmer? You have an excellent foundation, but for masterful writing, it’s still missing a whole range of solutions found in truly powerful “human” literature. For example, character relationship maps, character reaction maps, emotional depth, favorite slang, and other nuances. And, of course, navigation by chapter, checking for logical consistency in different places, and so on.
I would like to buy your tool and, based on it, give a programmer the task of adding these additional features. Is this technically possible?
Thank you again!
Thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it! At the moment, the app isn’t licensed for resale or for modification by third parties. However, I’m always happy to hear detailed feature ideas or improvement suggestions.
If you’d like, you can share your ideas (like the character maps or emotional depth tracking), and I’ll gladly consider adding them in future updates.
Why don’t you make it so that the book automatically downloads in PDF format, and everything works perfectly, just like I’ve seen in other programs?
The app’s main goal is to generate books using AI, not to handle full editing or professional layout design. While automatic PDF export might sound convenient, it often limits flexibility. That’s why we recommend doing the final formatting and layout adjustments in a tool like Word or another professional editor—so you can get the best possible result for your book.
Hello, While creating a book, I ended up with two full pages (out of 160) that were completely blank. (I used the “Chat 5 Thinking” A! Model.) How can I avoid this in the future? Thank you!
Hi, I’m sorry to hear that it does not worked as supposed to do. Are you able to replicate this issue with other AI models as well? Best
Have you given any thought to conversion to a audiobook?
This might be a bit to tricky but I will check it out
Hi, I have an idea, what if novel were written chapter by chapter ? rather than as a whole ?
By writing per chapter, we can edit the text, instruct AI to add new detail, before move to next chapter.
This will make each chapter more coherent.
Thank you.
