is this plugin compatible with the newest woocommerce 2.1 ?

Hi, We haven’t had the chance to test it yet but there shouldn’t be any reason for it not too. If there is an issue though, then we will get it fixed ASAP.

Hi,

Previously my website with this plugin was done by a developer.

May I know why the pages become 404 after I have remove the product based category from the settings page? When I uncheck the setting, it returns to /product-category/example and it is working fine.

Please advice.

By the way, the url don’t even change after updating WooCommerce to 2.1.0

I’m looking into the Woocommerce 2.1 issue.

If there is any update, please let me know.

Hi,

I use your plugin with WP installed in subfolder called dev/ and the SEO Layered Nav. The link generate are mydomain.com/dev/mycategory/myattribute. Now my index.php rewrite to put my shop at level 1 of server but SEO Layered Nav keep url with ”/dev/” instead of mydomain.com/mycategory/myattribute.

How reset url for this part ?

Thank You

Try resetting the links by either re-saving the permalinks in wordpress or re-saving the SEO settings in Woocommerce -> Settings

Hi,

I just purchased the plugin – thank you.

I want to achieve the following

/shop for my Shop

/shop/categoryname/ for my Product Categories

/shop/categoryname/productname/ for my Products

Can you please advise if this is possible and if so how.

Cheers

Depends on how much I get done over christmas ;) Hopefully within the next few weeks.

Hi guys – just wondering if you ever got around to including this in an update since our last back and forth? Many thanks

Apologies, completely forgot about this bug in the rush to get the plugin updated for Woocommerce 2.1. I’ll try and get this in within the next few weeks.

I have sent you a email for advice on what I should do,

I just want to take the time to tell anyone considering buying this plugin that the service and support behind the name Code Ninjas is just awesome. They went far and beyond what was expected of them, and I cannot speak highly enough of their support service.

Hello,

I’m planning on buying it but first, i have this concern..

I’m using Yoast seo plugin. Can i use your plugin together with yoast plugin? Do i need to disable yoast pluin in order for you plugin to work?

Theres nothing stopping you from using both, but a few users have mentioned that when they try to use my plugin for meta titles and descriptions for product categories, then yoasts plugin override my plugin.

I’m planning to update this plugin soon and will try to fix this. Other than it, it should work fine.

Hi Code-Ninjas, I just purchased this plugin, but the category meta title doesn’t seem to work. I have the Global Category Meta Settings enabled and the Category meta output set to custom. On the category page I have Woocommerce SEO Settings to custom also. My category page is still displaying the same meta title as home page. When I view page source through firefox it is displaying 2 meta descriptions, the same one as home page and the one I set through woocommerce SEO. This is the category page I tested: http://strapsco.com/leather-watch-bands/ Thanks for your help

Hi,

Do you have any Wordpress SEO plugins enabled? If you do then its that plugin that is outputting the second meta description and you will need to somehow disable that from handling meta details for Woocommerce.

If that isn’t the case then you probably have the meta description hardcoded into you template files.

Have a look in the header.php file in you template for the meta description tag.

Does this plugin allow me to add/edit unique meta title and meta description for each CATEGORY page on my woocommerce bazar shop website? What about H1 Tags on category pages? Thanks

Hi, yes it does allow you to add unique meta title and descriptions for each category. The H1 tags on the category page a determined by your template and will need to be changed in there.

I have a question before purchasing this. How can I use this plugin to disable it from quoting my website title at the end of the category title.

Example: Mysite: Beauty Equipment: Beauty | Mysite

Can this plugin rewrite and remove ”| Mysite”

If so how? Then will purchase right away!

Hi,

The plugin won’t do that. It only effects Woocommerce pages. You could use Yoasts Wordpress SEO plugin to rewrite the page title to how you want it.

However, if you only want to remove the Site name and not bother with all the other SEO features that the plugin adds then all you need to do is modify your themes header.php file and remove it from there (search for the <title> tag)

Simple!

Hi, I have the same problem as parkerphotographic

I currently have the Remove product category base unchecked.

When I click on “blog” from menu, the following is displayed where the posts should be;

No products found which match your selection.

The problem parkerphotographic had was that he had a product category called Blog (which was empty) and a page walled Blog and the URL from both was /blog. So when he thought he as acessing the Blog page, he was actually seeing the Blog product category.

So, check that you do not have a product category that has the same slug as your page.

Hi,

I’m having a few issues with this plugin – wonder if you can help? I have used the SEO friendly attributes within my menu so that rather than having /brands/?product_id=234 we have /brands/gucci for instance.

Annoyingly, only some times does this direct link actually work. Most of the time I am presented with an Error 404. If I go to ‘Brands’ and then filter by ‘Gucci’ for instance, the url works fine though.

Any ideas?

Hi,

The reason that happens is because of the way the plugin is designed.

Basically, all the ‘pretty’ URLs need to be created and linked to their ‘ugly’ counterparts. When a user goes to a pretty URL, Wordpress knows to shows the page as if the ugly URL was requested.

Whenever you save permalinks in Wordpress, or save the Woocommerce settings, all the pretty URL and deleted. They are created on the fly whenever the layered navigation widget is displayed.

So whats happening is, you are saving something, which deletes the pretty URLs and then when you try to access the URL directly, it hasn’t been created (ie Wordpress doesnt know about it) and so it shows a 404 error.

The quikesst fix for you would probably be to add the URLs directly into your .htaccess file (or download a plugin tha will provide an interface and do it for you)

Hope that helps

Hi there,

Thanks, this sort of makes sense. I am not sure on how to fix it still though. When you say add to my .htaccess file, are you saying to add 301 redirects? If you could be a little more specific I’d be very grateful. The reason I had to buy this plugin was because of my need to directly link to pretty URLs, so any help would be massively appreciated.

Many thanks,

B

The easiest solution for you would be to download a plugin that provide an easy way to add rewrite rules to Wordpress. Something like this (http://wordpress.org/plugins/rewrite/).

Then simply add your pretty URL and the matching ugly URL and that will ensure the URL are always in Wordpress.

Hi,

The filtered navigation links are being generated without a trailing slash. Is there any way to modify the plugin to enable a trailing slash?

Thanks!

Hi,

Apologies for the late reply. You have a few options to add a trailing slash.

First option is you can add it directly to the widgets file. Go to widgets/layered-nav.php. Depending on your layered navigation view (dropdown or list) you have simply added a slash where the link is being output (line 177 or line 324).

The second option is to add it to the function that creates the link. For this, go to woocommmerce-seo-widgets.php and in the function woocommerce_seo_add_rewrite_rules simply add the slash to the return value (line 168)

Hope that helps

Hi!

I installed your plugin to remove the category base and it works very well :-)

Just one question – do I have or do you recommend to add 301 redirections to my site from the old categories?

Thanks a lot!!

Hi,

It depends. If the old URLs have been indexed/live for a while then yes, 301 redirect them. If its a new site that has just gone live then theres no need.

Does this plugin fix the rich snippet problem that woocommerce is missing?

Thanks for confirming that, look forward to the rich snippets plugin, would it come together with Google Merchant XML feed function at all>

Not too sure yet, but i can look into it and if its possible i’ll do it. Thanks for the suggestion.

That’d be awesome if you could include that too, as it plays a very important part of SEO. Thanks in advance.

I have installed the plugin on a WC1.6 site and it works fine. Am installing it now on a WC 2.0.14 site and the plugin is not showing up in the plugins area (I cannot see it to activate it). Any ideas?

Hi,

Seems a little weird. It definitely works with Woocommerce 2.0+. Can you have a look in wp-content/plugins to see if the woocommerce-seo folder is in there.

Is it possible to use the category meta description outside of the header? So for example if I wanted to replace my category description with this text is there any php code that I can insert in to my category page template to display this?

Hi,

Yes you can. On the category page you need to call the following function:

get_woocommerce_term_meta( $categoryid, 'woocommerce_seo_meta_desc', true );
Replacing $categoryid with the category ID. Alternatively, if you want the page title for the category replace woocommerce_seo_meta_desc with woocommerce_seo_page_title.

Hope that helps

hi, is it possible to remove the /shop/ from the url such as – shopname.com/shop/product ..

ooops sorry comment above this sorts this! my bad

Hi,

Is it possible to use this plugin just to remove the product category base and use Yoast for SEO purposes i.e. can other modules be disabled?

Many thanks!

Hi,

Yes. The plugin options allow you to only enable the bits that you want to use.

Great – thank you for your quick response.

Hello,

I have a question before I purchase, just to clarify.

I would purchase this code just to remove the ’/store/’ that is in my URL.

Here is my current URL Structure:

domain.com/store/product/

Here is what I would like it to look like:

domain.com/product/

Will this plugin achieve what I am trying to do?

Hi,

No it would not. Im assuming store is your shop base. The plugin does not remove the shop base, not the product category base.

Hi I applied this to my store www.loveprintanddesign.com but i’m not totally sure what the best way to use it is. I have updated all meta data etc with ALL IN ONE SEO. And have turned your plugin on. I dont know what options i should select for the best performance. I have just selected “Remove product category base” and “Enable Woocommerce SEO breadcrumbs” Will that actually help my SEO? I’m scared to select the others in case they clash with my ALL IN ONE SEO plugin. Any help/tips/advice would be brilliant! Thank you.

Hi,

I’m not too sure what to tell you. You could use the plugin to automatically create meta titles and descriptions for you using the templates. These will then also be used when users filter down your products using the layered navigation widget which the all in one plugin does not do.

Other than that, if you have the desired functionality you want without my plugin than to be honest its a wasted purchase.

I think my problem is more than i just don’t know what’s best. I’m just kind of hoping what ive done works out for the best and if you’d any tips it’d be great. I’ve left your plugin on with the top two options selected and the others unselected. Hopefully that helps improve my seo. If you think it might conflict with it, then please let me know. Ive clearly no idea what i’m doing. :/
